They share tips and tricks on how to expand upon your veterinary and non-veterinary experiences to complement the personal statement and the supplemental essays. They answer questions such as: How to decide between using bullet points vs. paragraphs? How to pick your top 5 experiences? How to talk about your experiences in an impactful way? How to distinguish between an award vs. a honor? What types of awards/honors to include? How much detail to include?

In this episode, Shorya and Kaitlin discuss strategies on how to request effective letters of recommendation (LOR) that can help lead to a more holistic VMCAS application. They answer questions including: How to ask? Who to ask? Should I provide a template/guidance? How often to follow up? How to ensure the LOR gets submitted in time?

This resource includes recommended guidelines for what to include in a LOR: https://vetducator.com/what-is-the-vmcas-recommendation-and-how-is-it-read/

For those of you who are requesting a LOR from someone who is not familiar with veterinary medicine, you may want to share an article that discusses the essential skills and abilities of a veterinary student.
