This is a Q&A taken from a Session that Michael Dow spoke in for a Discipleship School in the Orlando area. It's a real and vulnerable interaction.
Some of the topics that created interactions are:
Grace isn’t always a feeling you wait on, it’s the strength you lean on when you decide to stick with your commitments. The idea is simple but freeing — build a history with God so you have leverage against your own excuses. Resolve matters. Daniel 1:8 didn’t need theatrics, just a determined heart.
Real talk about leadership: character beats gifting every day. Purity, accountability, and managing your own house are not add-ons — they’re the proof that someone can be trusted with influence. Power doesn’t graduate you from accountability; it amplifies your need for it. So if you're called to teach or lead, study the Bible hard, pray harder, and let your life show the formation happening inside you, not just public function.
Studying the Word well isn’t glamorous, but it’s necessary. Learn the author’s intent, see the Bible’s big narrative, and study to be approved — not just to feel better. You don’t have to have every degree, but get help, learn solid methods, and let study and prayer shape your teaching. Teaching without study and prayer? That’s a risk you don’t want to take.
When people you love hurt you — yeah, that cuts deep. But there’s also redemptive power in suffering when the Spirit shapes you. Think Joseph, Stephen, and Jesus: what could have been purely bitter became a witness of mercy and resurrection. It takes time and the Spirit’s work, but you can choose a posture where your pain produces grace instead of hard-heartedness.
On building teams and churches: don’t prioritize warm bodies or potential over proven patterns. Formation over function. Wait for people who embody the values and vision, not just those who can fill a role this weekend. Commission those who are worthy of imitation — who show growth both in wins and losses. And guard against keeping things centralized because you’re insecure; the goal is to give the work away so it multiplies.
Finally — and this matters — your family and daily faithfulness are the greatest platform. If you can’t steward your home, you don’t get to be the shepherd everywhere else. Seasons change; sometimes God asks you to stay small and faithful at home before He sends you broader. Rest in that season, do the real, daily work, and trust that the right opportunities will line up with the right formation.
So if you’re wrestling with feelings, failure, or calling — start with resolve, keep character first, study and pray, and let the Spirit do the deeper forming.

We live in the reality of the resurrection and the One who is alive from the dead and ascended on high, is head over a body and Lord over a people. He has purchased this people with is own blood (Revelation 5)
He has given us the down payment of the Spirit which has empowered us to be witnesses in the earth. Will you rely on the power of the Spirit to be representative of Jesus where he has planted you in the earth?
This message is about bearing God's burden in the place of priesthood in our daily lives.
God's intentions toward every believer if for them to live individually as a priest and to enjoy the realities and power of priesthood and to see our lives joined into a spiritual family, a church, that are cultivating ongoing life together in priestly rhythms.
May God have a people who live before Him as priests!
In Ephesians 5, Paul charges the church to learn what is pleasing to the Lord. This is not just an individual pursuit but a collective calling—that a people, together, would discover what is pleasing to God and live their lives as a royal priesthood under His leadership.
This means that our faith is not passive; it requires active pursuit. We are called to be on a continuous journey of discovery, seeking out the things that bring delight to God and aligning our lives accordingly.
God is knitting the hearts and lives of His people together, creating a Temple that will produce a Testimony to the world and the rulers and powers of the air.
Our lives are intended to give off a witness to the rest of the world what it looks like to live free from the influence of the world and be ruled over by God.
It will be believable to the world because they will see it in the Church!
There are only two types of people. It is not good people and bad people, but DEAD people and ALIVE people. We are either DEAD in our sin or ALIVE in Christ!

We should find our significance, value, and joy in Jesus. Doing all things unto the Lord. Doing the significant unseen things as an offering of devotion to God.
We often times measure our success by the things we do for God and not our every day and ordinary devotion to Him and satisfaction in Him.

When we relate to God well then He can transform us and align us to Himself and His purposes.
The commissioning of the Church? We are called to reach neighbors and nations. However, that is to be experienced and lived from a life of being deeply satisfied in God. God is extraordinary in our ordinary!
The configuration of the Church: What is it that Jesus has promised? Why does it matter? How is God going to get the inheritance that He promised His Son?

It is said in scripture that there has arisen no one greater than John the Baptist. His posture is revealed in John 3. He must increase and I must decrease. John understood that he was to prepare a stage for Jesus not share the stage with Jesus.
In Exodus 32 Moses was a man confronted with self exaltation. God told him leave me alone and let my anger burn against them, I will destroy them and make you a great nation. Moses contended with God and chose a deeper investment into being anchored into His people.
The Church is a people, however, most of us don't live with a corporate identification.
Are you willing to decrease so that Jesus and his purposes in the earth will be exalted?

Fasting is an expression of love; a loving obedience. Jesus said that His absence would fuel the fire of our devotion in the place of fasting (Matt 9).
Will you love Him this way? Will you offer up your affection, attention, and appetites? He alone is worthy.
There are moments in our lives where the direction to destiny will not be accessed in the worlds way. There are times in your life where the insight you need is only going to be found in a deeper place of devotion.
So often we underestimate the place of devotion when we are looking for direction.
There are times where we will have to enter into consecration and waiting so that God can reveal to you what His way is.
Jesus prayed that when power came upon believers, they would become witnesses that would provide an evidence of transformed lives.
We are transformed by the Spirit in our day by day yielding to God. Transformation does not happen overnight.
History details of times when God has chosen to be uniquely present among His people. It is time we turn our hearts and lives to creating a habitation for the glory of God.
God is able to do exceedingly, abundantly, above all that we could ever ask, think, or imagine. It is time that we elevate our view of God and what He is able to do in our lives as we yield to Him.
If any man be in Christ, that man is a new creation. God has issued power to those who believe to radically transform the human experience. We are not the same.
"You can get delivered in a moment, but it can take you a lifetime to learn how to live delivered."
An unprecedented outpouring will produce a people that Jesus is praying for in John. A people who are going to be in the world but not of the world. A people radically defined by the power of the gospel. A people that no longer defines their lives by the success stories of this world.

We must ask God for grace to align our appetites with His purposes. We pray that as you listen to this podcast God would awaken you to His purposes for your life!
The Church, as a family, is the place where the rest of the world is to be able to see what it looks like for a people to be alive from the dead and free from the influence of the powers and rulers of the age.
The Church, as a redeemed community, is a family of new creatures. When we understand that there is a wicked agenda to disrupt, divide, and derail God's desires for what He has promised His Son we will never consider division the same.
We wrestle not with flesh and blood.....

Acts 2 says they were continually devoting themselves to the apostles teaching, to fellowship, to the breaking of bread, and to prayer. This created a family in God
This was a way of life that their response to the God and the gospel immersed them in! This way of life will produce a certain type of people.
Our preferences CAN NOT be what determines our way of life it MUST BE the pattern revealed to us in the scriptures.
The influence of the world attempts to take root in our hearts and over time create influence in our lives.
We must turn to Jesus, ask Him for his viewpoint and influence in our hearts. May our lives grow in becoming peace makers!
There must be a certain point where we understand we are not building God's House according to man's desires.
Our efforts and investments in building are to build Him what He wants and what it is that He is after, a family!

Incredibly grateful to have had Bob Gladstone with us for Session 3 of our Convocation in Milwaukee. He shared about the “Jesus People.”
Session 2 of our Convocation in Milwaukee was life altering. Billy Humphrey preached a word out of Revelation 3 about authenticity and vulnerability that completely wrecked hearts.
On opening night of our Convocation in Milwaukee Corey Russell preached a powerful word about breaking off superficiality and walking in the counsel of the Lord.
Burning Ones was honored to have Corey Russell come and minister the Word of the Lord at our recent Convocation in Chicago, IL. We believe He is one of the hammers the Lord is swinging in our hour of history!
As we set ourselves to intercede in these days we must have a clear vision of Jesus as the One who is the Most High who rules the realm of mankind.
May our hearts find strength in the reality that the Son of Man has been enthroned and given authority to rule over all of creation and the kingdoms in the realm of mankind
Heaven rules!
While there is still time, you can repent of your embrace of this world and its ways. You can anchor yourself into this beautiful man, Jesus, as King of Kings and Lord of Lords and choose to align your life with His Kingdom and the way it is advancing toward the end of this age!
The wall of hostility has been demolished, the dividing wall has been torn down, our own natural preferences and distinctions that we used to us to create arguments to be divided have been conquered through the payment of God's own blood and with it He has purchased a people.
Jesus has made a way for a new family to be created in the earth and this is us. The inheritance of Jesus!
The cross has created a new family. The cross has created a new race. The cross has made way for God to harvest the nations and to form a people. As he fills this people with His Spirit, we become a brand new version of humanity here and now.
The cross has put to death the walls of hostility, division, and enmity! The cross has put to death everything that is trying to divide us!
Will you love what He loves? To love what He loves we have to know Him. We can't just know the americanized version of Him. We can't just know the political or denominational version of Him. We have to forsake our own ways to behold the Lamb and to see Him clearly and correctly and then make a determination in our own hearts. Do we really love Jesus or have we created a version of Him that we have formed and fallen in love with?

Jesus is Himself! He is holy. He is other than. He is separate. He is set apart. He is glorious. He is majestic. He is wonderful and beautiful!
David said "My soul waits for God alone."
Are you waiting for God? Many of us are waiting for other things. Many of us are waiting for godly activity. Many of us are waiting for the fulfillment of a word that was given to us. Many of us are waiting in frustration because it seems as if God is not moving us forward into the things He has spoken to us.
He is waiting until He can trust us with what He has revealed to us.
It is the period of waiting that reveals who we really are and what we are really about despite what comes out of our mouths.
1 Chronicles 15:1 Now David built houses for himself in the city of David; and he prepared a place for the ark of God and pitched a tent for it.
David prepared a place for the Ark. God give us a heart like David!
How much room do you have for the ark. What type of room are you willing to create? His heart burns to be with you and the prize of constructing the tent is Him!
In the moments when Daniel is tested he is faithful and responsible. He is unwilling to compromise his allegiance. Daniel is faithful because he knows what he has seen in private. Daniel is faithful because all of his public life is being formed by revelation.
As Daniel was recounting the Word of the Lord in Daniel 9 he understand the significance of the hour. Daniel wasn't just seeing the persecution he was thriving in as some abstract thing. He understands the hour he is standing in and there is a window of opportunity for him to respond to what he knows God has said.
He gave his attention to God to seek Him in fasting, prayer, and sackcloth and ashes.
May we be ones who recount the Word of the Lord and respond well!

Jesus is the main thing. We are not trying to cram Jesus into our own narrative. We are not trying to fit Him into worldly conversation. He is not just a part of life He is central to life itself. He is the hub of life itself. He is everything. Have we gone all in with this King and His gospel?
We need to find a deeper place of surrender. We need to find a greater YES in our hearts to Jesus. No matter what He says, He is everything!
"We need the Lord, by His Spirit to bring us together. We need the Lord, by His Spirit to fill us afresh. May He shake everything loose from our hearts that are not in alignment with His desires for us to fulfill His purpose in our generation."

These are days for you to develop a pursuit of Jesus and give up the pursuit of other things. There is one pursuit that is going to matter most at the end of the age.
