The Reversal
Exodus 12:22–42
Episode 7 - September 28
Big Idea: When the blood covers you, your story is reversed — judgment, status, and destiny.
God’s judgment touched every house in Egypt.
Israel was spared — not because they were better, but because they were covered.
Once your past condemned you, now the blood of Jesus acquits you.
Pharaoh begged Israel to leave.
Egyptians who once enslaved them now gave them silver and gold.
Even what was meant to crush you can become what God uses to lift you.
After 430 years, Israel walked free.
The night of judgment became a night of celebration.
Because of the cross, your story doesn’t end in chains — it ends in freedom.
Conclusion
The cross looked like “Jesus defeated.”
But Easter revealed: “Jesus defeated death.”
Through faith in His great reversal, your story can be reversed too.
Declaration (say it together):
By faith in the Lamb, my story is reversed. What should’ve destroyed me, now passes over me. What once held me down, now lifts me up. What began with tears, ends in praise. Because Jesus defeated death, my story isn’t over.
The Way Out - When Fear Collides With Liberating Power of GOD - EP03 - Pastor Felipe Assis.
When you set out on a long journey—whether by foot, bike, or car—you need rest stops and refueling stations. Ignore them, and you put yourself—and those with you—at risk.
The road to purpose is the same. It's a long road. Arriving at the place where you fully understand who God made you to be takes time, patience, and lessons learned along the way.
Most of us want to arrive instantly. But before Moses could lead God’s people, he had to make several crucial “stops” on his way to purpose. And so must we.
God’s purpose starts in dark places - EP01
Exodus 1:1–2:10
Every great rescue story has a moment when the hero steps in—but the story never starts there.
Exodus starts with conjunction, “AND”
"וְאֵלֶּה שְׁמוֹת" — "And these are the names…"
That little "And" is not a grammatical accident. In Hebrew narrative style, starting with “And” is a way of signaling continuity with the story that came before—in this case, Genesis.
So the opening line is basically saying:
“The story’s not over. What you read in Genesis is directly connected to what’s about to happen in Exodus.”
It always begins in the shadows… in the moments no one would choose, in the places no one wants to be.
For Israel, that place was Egypt—400 years, half of those years deep in slavery, their identity stripped, their future suffocated. No one was looking for a hero anymore. Hope had been downgraded to mere survival.
And that’s where God begins. Before the Red Sea splits… before the plagues… before Moses stands before Pharaoh—there’s a cradle in the reeds, a crying baby, and a God who still hears.
Today we launch our new series on the life of Moses: “THE WAY OUT.” My prayer for you is bold: that in this series you would experience liberation—real, tangible freedom—from whatever has its grip on you.
Because before Moses could lead anyone out, God had to lead Moses out—out of past trauma, crushed confidence, and spiritual complacency. And maybe this is where your way out begins too.
The Backstory Part II - Later. Nope. Almost. Changed. Which One Are You_ - Pastor Carter Brown.
Every year during the month of November we launch our church-wide pledge campaign called “Making Our House A Home”. This campaign is designed to celebrate the previous year of ministry, and look forward to where God is leading our church for the next year. God uses vision, commitment, service, generosity, and sacrifice to fulfill His purposes through His church. He is using you and me to help make this house a home for others. This year we have decided to launch a new campaign in place of MOHAH, but with similar elements. Our November campaign this year is called “Gospel Legacy: the next 15”. This year the Crossbridge family celebrated 15 years. God has been exceedingly gracious, generous, and good to us over the last 15 years and we want to celebrate those stories. Additionally, our leadership believes this next year, 2024 is a crucial year in the life of each of our churches, and the pledges, generosity, sacrifice, service, and prayers given will set the course for the next 15. We ask that you do everything possible to journey with us for the next 3 weeks, and pray that God would give you a vision for your place in building a gospel legacy for the next 15 years.

In preparation for service week we want to motivate our church folks to actively engage, but do so with a gospel/kingdom mindset. We want to avoid participation that is merely marketing based, or mere emotional hype or with a benefactor posture = “those poor people need our help. We have privilege and resources, so we are the solution”) (Luke 22). Through this series we want our people to engage moved by a deeper experience of the gospel as well as a humble servant posture, as well as instill that this week should be a microcosm of an entire lifestyle. Finally, through this series we want our people to understand that this is the entire gospel: not by works... for good works (Eph 2:8-10)Follow us:https://www.instagram.com/crossbridgepinecrest/https://www.facebook.com/crossbridgepinecrest/To support this ministry and help us continue to reach people all around the world click here: https://crossbridgepinecrest.org/giveJoin our family of churches reaching the city through the gospel of Jesus. While the Thessalonian epistles contain some of the most important New Testament teaching concerning eschatology, they also reveal the loving heart of the Apostle Paul. There is a sweetness and tenderness expressed in these epistles that is quite touching. They read like love letters, and the love relationship that Paul enjoyed with the Thessalonian church provides a beautiful example for all pastors and churches.
Preparing to preach from these letters would do well to speak with the same passionate love and urgency that is found in them.

The book of Joshua records the end of an era and the start of a new one. With the death of Moses that led them through the desert and Joshua the “promised land leader” the people of God are called to continue to trust their God and remain faithful to the covenant. As the year changes and new seasons arise, we are called to continue to trust the unfailing character of the God that loves and wants us to live under his promises. Forward Living - EP 1: Getting From Here to There - Pastor Felipe Assis
Through the Sundays of Advent, we will trace the family line of Jesus from Eve who first received the promise of the future Messiah to Mary who gave birth to the Savior. In each of these stories we will encounter elements of brokenness that we can all identify with and elements of longings and hope that ultimately find its fulfillment in Jesus.

The church tends to rely on things other than the Spirit to thrive. No wonder why things are so indifferent and apathetic around us. Jesus depended on the power of the Spirit for his earthly ministry and that’s why he was always 100% - 24/7on. Jesus was permanently activated to do the work of the Father who sent him. If we are able to rely on the promptings and equipping of the Spirit as Jesus was, we will also live permanently activated to do even greater things than he. As we journey through this series it is our hope that you would be activated for service.

Activated: Ep 3 | The activity of the Spirit: The Gifts | Pastor Felipe Assis | Crossbridge Church

During the summer months we will journey through the pages of Genesis by taking an in depth look into the lives of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Their family story is foundational to understand how God prepared the way to usher his salvation into the world. Moreover, we are able to see ourselves in their life stories. Just like them, we are all wanderers and wrestlers. And he (God) is always pursuing and loving us to the point of surrender.

Being the last Sunday of 2021, our Crossbridge pastors come together to look back on 2021 through the lens of Psalm 136. Listen as Pastors Felipe Assis, Carter Brown, Sam Miranda, and Marcus Assis lead us to ponder the attributes of God as we venture into a new year.
When the wise men from the East laid their eyes on Jesus they saw what Isaiah prophesied in chapter 9. In Matt 2 you have the wisdom of the world bowing down to God’s wonderful counselor. You have the rulers of the world worshiping God’s prince of peace. Christmas reminds us of the lordship of Jesus over every aspect of our lives. Our lives are to be offered as gifts to him for he who is God’s greatest gift was offered to and for us.
The angels were directly involved in paving the way for the Christ as they announced firsthand to those who would play a significant role in the Christmas drama. They look at Christmas with utter amazement -- so much so, that they joyfully sing. If the angels are in awe of what God has done through Christmas, how much more should we?
The first people that heard the proclamation of the birth of Christ were not the nobles nor the professional religious class, but the humble class of shepherds. This goes to show that in the kingdom that King Jesus has come to establish, what’s down is up and what’s up is down. The message of Christmas is a message of love and grace.
The birth of Christ in Bethlehem brings together royalty and simplicity, chaos and peace. Christmas reminds us that God meets us in a place of messiness and weakness in order to elevate us to a place of honor and glory and to restore peace in our lives.
The prophets lived in the midst of chaos yet looked into the future with the hope that God would restore and renew the world through the ministry of the Messiah. Christmas reminds us that God is faithful and that he always fulfills his promises. We can now see what the prophets couldn’t see -- The fulfillment of their prophecy - a fulfillment from the place that no one expected - from below, from the obscure and insignificant.
The church in Antioch was the first church to think missionally in an organized way. They sent out teams of leaders to catalyze the gospel in the great cities of their days. As the church in Antioch, Crossbridge seeks to do the same. Through The Bridge Movement, we have been fulfilling this mission in Miami and abroad.
Paul travelled to Ephesus to establish the House of God amongst the Ephesians. As a result, tangible transformation took place in the life of that city. The economy was changed and justice was ushered in, as the house of God was manifested in that place. We as a church seek the renewal of every city we are inserted in. We are not seeking to be a great church as much as we are seeking to build a great city.
For us, “belonging" is not synonymous with “comfort” and “consumerism”. The way to truly belong to the Church is to be on mission with the church. Join us for part 1 of our annual "Making Our House a Home" series as Pastor Felipe invites us to be a "house on the move" in 2022.
In all the quests you can possibly embark on, what you’re really looking for is not to find anything or even yourself, but to find God. Join Pastor Felipe Assis of Crossbridge Church in "The Quest for God" as we close out our "Under The Sun" series through the book of Ecclesiastes.
What is wisdom? What does wise living look like? Join Pastor David Shim of Crossbridge Church in "The Quest for Wisdom" as the writer of Ecclesiastes shows us why the fear of the Lord and the keeping of his commandments are the whole duty of man.
Times are polarized and we are living in a moral crisis. Join Pastor Felipe Assis of Crossbridge Church in "The Quest for Morality," as the writer of Ecclesiastes looks at our morality crisis and sees the root of the problem but then shares with us the heart of the solution.
As Pascal points out, the human heart carries a God-shaped hole. Nothing will satisfy. It will never be enough. In "The Quest for More," Pastor Felipe Assis of Crossbridge Church shows us that any attempt to find happiness apart from God is a huge setup for major disappointment. In the end, we will all be crushed by the expectations. God has put eternity in man’s heart to remind him that only He can give us what our heart truly needs.
Life is filled with big unanswered questions. Can we find answers to the big questions of life? Not if our vantage point is life under the sun. There’s hope in a relationship with the Creator. A relationship with the Creator is based on trust which allows us to navigate the unknowns because even though we don’t know, we can be sure that he knows.
Solomon now turns to work for meaning and as a result, all he experiences is weariness. The Gospel provides the rest beneath the work that we need in order to thrive and to fulfill our life’s calling. Christians don’t work for rest, they work from rest.
Solomon now turns to pleasure to find happiness because he’s found that there’s nothing bigger to live for. He doesn’t deprive himself of any pleasures yet finds himself as unhappy as he was at the beginning of his quest. Only by gazing in the beauty of God can one’s heart’s longings be satisfied (3:11). The beauty of God presents itself in its clearest form in the Gospel.
Life is short, cyclical, and repetitive. How can we escape its boredom? The book of Ecclesiastes raises questions, where the rest of the Bible provides the answers. In the prologue, we learn that the meaning of life is found not in an idea or a principle but in a person.
Paul writes to a fractured church in Rome with the hopes of bringing unity to the church around the essential message of christianity -- the gospel. In Paul’s mind, if they could agree on the gospel and unity could be reached, the church in Rome could bear a great impact in the world of his days. The church in America is fractured and polarized. It even lacks agreement on what the gospel actually is. Our hope through this expository summer series is to clarify and to seek alignment into the message that Paul says is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes.

It even lacks agreement on what the gospel actually is. Our hope through this expository summer series is to clarify and to seek alignment into the message that Paul says is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes.

Love is more than sentimentality. Love is work. Actually hard work. Love takes dedication, cultivation, and sacrifice. Without these three things no relationship can flourish, and without loving relationships, we die. As we focus on the God of The Bible we are reminded that God himself is love. The good news is that God who is love, is constantly working on our behalf. In the person of Jesus he performed love’s greatest work, by giving himself for us. For eight weeks our intent is to focus on that love and to work out all of its implications for every form of relationship we are called to participate in.

During the 40 days that lead to Easter, Christians through out the centuries and around the globe have used this season to intensify prayer and to meditate on the meaning of the life and work of Christ. This season has historically helped to prepare the hearts and minds as we build anticipation for the grand celebration of the Resurrection of the Son of God.
During Lent of 2021 we will be focusing on the prayer that Jesus taught his disciples and we will draw from it practical principles of how to better prayer as well as how to allow The Lord’s Prayer to shape how we live life in the world.

After a long period of social isolation and decreased in-person church attendance, there lies before us the opportunity to help give our people a vision for what the Church of Jesus Christ is. Even with the availability of a vaccine, and a possible end in sight, pandemic trauma will still be very much a reality in the lives of people that had their health, their careers, and their family life affected by it. Moreover, people’s habits of worship and “doing church” will have changed drastically. Some changes are healthy while others could be very unhealthy. In the aftermath of the pandemic, it is crucial that we recover a strong Biblical ecclesiology in order to remind our people of the identity, purpose, and mission of the Church of Jesus in its local expression. The juxtaposed concepts in each of the sermon titles are intended to build a healthy tension in the themes suggested, where each should find its resolve with the Gospel of Jesus.

When it all seemed hopeless, God flipped the switch. At the end of a very dark tunnel there was light! The message of Advent as John describes in his gospel is one of hope because God in the person of Jesus sent light into the darkness. Light to expel our fears and shame. Light to bring joy and meaning. Light to reveal to us a beautiful future.

Not every house is a home. What makes a house a home is not brick and mortar, it’s not furniture and fixtures. What makes a house a home is people. A home is a sanctuary, it’s a place of authenticity, it’s where life and growth takes place, and where we prepare ourselves to face the world outside. Moreover, a true home is a place where others can be welcomed and belong. Every year at Crossbridge we remind ourselves that we have been called to build a spiritual home for those who do not yet have a home in Miami and beyond. The truth is that this calling cannot be fulfilled by a few individuals, it will take the efforts and investments of all who call Crossbridge their home.
And like every year, we are asking you to renew your vows and commitment of time, talents, and treasure so that together we can continue to build a home for the spiritually homeless.

Back in January we launched a year wide campaign titled Focus One. The core message of the campaign is to encourage people to think of the gospel as a lifestyle. Through the sermon series we will challenge people to commit to walking alongside someone for a year with the purpose of ministering to them and leading them to Jesus. In part 1 of the series we talked about the mission, the message, the transformation that the gospel brings, and our neighbors as our focus. In part 2, we will give 4 Biblical examples of people that did that by posturing themselves as a bridge between God and others.

This series is designed to teach us that a living hope in Christ is a firm, vivid hope in contrast with a lifeless philosophical doctrine immortality. The apostle Peter reminds us that an assured inheritance and preservation by God’s power gives us ground for rejoicing even though we face many present trials.
