In this captivating conversation, sculptor Sherlin Hendrick and I delve into the fascinating story behind her artistic evolution and the discovery of her unique artistic voice. We'll explore the intriguing ways she harnessed the power of limitations and rules to shape her creative identity.
Sherlin Hendrick discusses an intuitive practice she had when she created her iconic series of sculptures, pairing an animal with an emotion. Sherlin initiated a self-imposed game of embracing her intuition as her guide. Her rule was simple: if she had a thought she had to follow it. She says that “Anxiety Rabbit” popped up first, and it went from there, leading to a surprising series of creative revelations. She didn’t know where it would go but she just kept following her intuitive thought until the entire show had been created!
Join us as Sherlin Hendrick unveils her secrets of creative intuition, the power of embracing uncertainty, and the magic of following artistic instincts, even when the destination is uncertain. This episode is a testament to the limitless possibilities that lie within the realm of artistic exploration.
