Born and raised in Johannesburg, South Africa, Lara always had an intense interest in the mind and human potential. She completed her Honours degree in Psychology and later went on to certify as a Master Life Coach. After an incredibly trying four-year struggle with Post-partum Depression, Lara clawed her way out of the darkness and back into the light with an unrelenting determination to heal. Lara is incredibly passionate about helping women to step up and thrive. The world is filled with toxic masculinity which pushes for profits over the environment, luxurious aeroplanes over feeding hungry tummies, war over peace, ego over humility. Women need to rise in order for us to heal what is broken. All too often women justify putting their needs, dreams and wellbeing aside in the name of not being selfish and putting their children, husband, extended family, or job first. This justification simply keeps us in the same cycle, repeating the same patterns, generation after generation. It's time to break that cycle, to step up, set the example and be the change. It is time for women to truly THRIVE! Through a series of her own experiences and learnings, as well as input from other exceptional individuals, Lara hopes to inspire change for women living in this crazy 21st century world.
2022 has started with a bang, and we all seem to have been thrown into the deep end - no warm-up round allowed. Whether in the last few weeks, or at some point in the last 2 years, many of us have felt as though life has brought us to our knees, but what we discover when we're down on our knees is possibly the gold we've been looking for. In this episode, I share my experiences and reflections of when life brought me to my knees, and the incredible gifts I uncovered while I was down.
In this episode, we unpack the difference between goals and intentions. I share why intentions resonate more for me, and what it really means to be "intentional" as we transition into the new year.
Lara shares the story of how she got her husband into the kitchen and got herself out of it. Through a process of waking up and becoming a conscious coder of her own life, Lara has stopped doing the things that don't align with her truth and that bring her more pain than pleasure. She has reevaluated each area of her life and has stopped existing like one of society's precoded robots just going about life and all it entails without thought or question. She no longer accepts pre-defined, stereotypical roles set out for her by the generations before her. This story is about taking ownership and creating a life that is true to you.
