I AM Back, had a child and its been crazy but here it is, a new chapter talking about a British "bank" WISE is amazing as a service, but is it a good stock?
Market cap of 5.4 billion. They make 750 million in revenue last year. so I think they're not very overvalued (if at all) and they're growing around 40% per year but I wouldn't be surprised if tomorrow or next week or even in the second week of September we'll get a hit again, and it will drop. It's a complicated market, but check it out :)

Prosus or Tencent? There is a lot of people investing in $PROSY just because of the share it hold of $TENCENT $TCEHY but is this wise?
Here, I go over the latest news from Prosus as they had to write off investments in Russia (classified ads business Avito, and has a 25.7% shareholding in Russia's VK Group, which owns the country's most popular social media site, VKontakte) & we analyze the Net Asset Value of their holdings to determine the difference between the share price and the NAV per share.
Basically I think that if you like the risk of all the other investments of Prosus and are aware of the structural risks of the company, Prosus is a good way to invest in Prosus and have a nice large exposure to Tencent.
But if you only love Tencent, then the best investment is Tencent itself.

Palantir stock
PLTR hit all time lows recently and the all time high was about a year ago on February 8, 2021 when it reached 39.22 USD. It is now trading at about $13 and I decided to analyze the company through a DCF and share it with you guys.

I've been using Duolingo for years! Way before they even consider going public and I was delighted when they did the IPO. As usual, I wait a few months before I take a look at the company.
I really want to invest in Duolingo but as we see on the video, there are some things that need to be clarified first.
Language learning software is -as it turns out- a high churn business and the inflection point with DUOL stock will be their ability to use the same tech and gamification that they've developed to other knowledge areas such as math.

I lost money this past week and it hasnโt been the best year - China - inflation FED - Corona. This podcast is not about telling you to have diamond hands or all that BS, not at all, its about dealing with losses and understanding that months like this one are unavoidable but manageable.
And I have 3 rules on investing (and 1 extra that applies to everything) that can help you manage this type of situation and would love to hear if you have some as well.
A little bit about myself just for you to frame this video accordingly, I'm a long term investor, I don't do trading, I put money in the markets every month, sometimes twice a month and rarely, vary rarely, sell, but I'll talk about my personal strategy in another podcast so subscribe :)
Now, lets get back to the main subject which is my 4 rules on investing that will help you manage the loosing part of investing in the markets.
Rule N1: Understand yourself as an investor
Are you patient or impulsive? Are you investing long term or not - stop loss - Do you have time to do in-depth research to be confortable - realistically- picking stock or should you just do index-funds. - Are you using money that you really wont need? - Are you curious? Do you enjoy learning about companies, finances, sectors, etc?
Rule N2: Be analytical and pragmatic not emotional
Don't believe everything you hear or read. - People (even journalists) have biases. - Avoid FOMO - if you did your research and are confident about your strategy, you shouldn't care. - I made this mistake recently with CureVac - Sell if you made a mistake in your analysis or when the your analysis outcome changed and you wouldn't buy it anymore, not just because of a price drop.
Rule N3: Have Long term perspective
If statistics can be believed, the must secured way to invest is long term. If we check the sp500 - dow jones for example... - Research not only the company but the macro as well - Accept that there are somethings you cant control
Extra rule: Align your investments with your believes.
Enjoy and spend your time in things you don't believe or like! There is nothing worse than loosing money on an investment you didn't even like! defense companies, tabaco companies, some pharma companies.

Sales at that unit grew 33% during the period, accelerating thanks to investments in technology.

Tecnoglass is a Colombia-based producer of glass for residential and commercial buildings founded in 1984 by two brothers, Jose Daes and Christian Daes, who currently both serve as directors and CEO & COO, respectively.

In 1996, U.S. criminal prosecutors filed charges against Jose and Christian Daes, the current CEO & COO of Tecnoglass, alleging the two served as โmanagers and operatorsโ of the Cali cartel, helping smuggle weapons and more than 200 tons of cocaine, and laundered money. Warrants were issued for CEO Jose Daesโ arrest and he was declared a fugitive.

In 2004, Tecnoglassโ current CEO Jose Daes was shot in the head and neck during a botched assassination attempt, later attributed to a right-wing paramilitary warlord who believed Daes was taking too many corrupt contracts from the local mayor.

In December 2013, Tecnoglass went public via a SPAC, cycling through 3 auditors within roughly a 1-year span. Auditors specifically flagged material weaknesses relating to identification and reconciliation of related party transactions.

Tesla touching 940
Elon Musk is accelerating his disposal of Tesla Inc. shares after last monthโs Twitter poll, as he exercises more options. The worldโs richest person offloaded another 934,091 shares for about $906.5 million to cover taxes on the exercise of 2.1 million options. Heโs already sold almost 12 million shares since he pledged on Twitter to get rid of 10% of his Tesla stake โ which would amount to about 17 million shares without taking into account his exercisable options.
NU Holdings (Nubank) falling
After the IPO, Nu Holdings are at 10 usd/share. After just 3 days of trading, the bank is worth 46 Billion but might be to overvalued for investors in this climate. The Warren Buffet backed bank might need some time to justify such a valuation but in the meantime, weโll probably see it below 10.

But what is VIE? Should we be scared with our holdings on $BABA $Tencent $JD $PDD $BIDU and a looooong etc.??
The Variable Interest Entity (VIE) Structure is how almost every listed Chinese company we can buy outside of China is listed in the public markets.
The VIE works as follows; Company X creates a Cayman Islands listed shell company (no real business, no office, no employees), which it also calls X. Once Fake X has been setup, Real X then creates a complex web of legal agreements that serve to give Fake X a claim on the profits and control of the assets that belong to Real X.
Fake X then lists itself as a company on the NYSE, selling shares to investors under the name โXโ. Wall Street banks take in millions of dollars in fees to list Fake X, and hundreds of investment firms and investors invest billions of dollars into buying shares of Fake X.
The problem?
The idea that a contract that is constructed to circumvent a law is not enforceable is a common law concept. Its Not, and China does not recognize this contracts. - Yet despite the very black and white illegality of the VIE structure, for the most part, the Chinese turn a blind eye to it. Hundreds of VIEs exist and some have done so for a decade or more.
At its most extreme case, China is completely within its legal right to declare all these VIEs illegal and therefore worthless.
Would they do something crazy and delist our favorite Chinese companies?
NO, I don't think so. There is a legitimate argument that China would not be so destructive as to enforce its own laws, as that would wipe trillions of dollars off the US stock market in an instant.

Nikola Corporation is an American company that presented a number of zero-emission vehicle concepts from 2016 to 2020. The company stated on multiple occasions that it intended to take some of its concept vehicles into production in the future, including expansive claims during the time the company prepared to go public. The company reorganized and went public on June 4, 2020 through a SPAC.
As of July 2021, the reorganized company has stated that they intend to deliver the first 50 to 100 production Nikola Tre battery-electric trucks in the fourth quarter of 2021. They haven't done it so far.
Before going public they raised 500 million, with the SPAC they raised another 700 million and with warrants they raised 260+ million.
In September 2020, the company was under investigation by the Securities and Exchange Commission and the Department of Justice over securities fraud allegations. In July 2021, a United States federal grand jury returned an indictment against founder and former CEO Trevor Milton, but not against the company, that charged Milton with three counts of criminal fraudโfor "lying about 'nearly all aspects of the business'"โand two counts of securities fraud. Stock shares in Nikola dropped and traded at ~US$12 after falling from over $65 in mid-2020, a point at which the company market valuation had exceeded that of the Ford Motor Company.
Today, the pickup truck they boosted about after the SPAC is nowhere to be found on their website and they have yet to make a profit.
The company now has a valuation of around 4.2 Billion dollars and have made partnerships with names like IVECO to produce their trucks in Ulm, Germany. At 10 usd per share, I still think its not a trust worthy stock but maybe I'm missing something.

Merck has paused development in response to mid-phase (Phase 2) data that also raised questions about the backbone of all the companyโs planned HIV regimens. - A big hit.

Before looking at Rivian more though, letโs briefly discuss the competition.
Teslaโs Cybertruck is certainly not conservative when it comes to styling. The truck looks to be the winner on range with an estimate of 500 miles, and itโs good for towing too. Weโre still yet to see a real production model up close, and during itโs announcement there was the infamous ball-bearing incident. It boasts over 1.25 million pre-orders, but is not expected to hit roads until late 2022 after numerous delays. The cybertruckโs unique exoskeleton stainless steel design left many, including me wondering how many of those 1.25 million orders will actually translate to real sales, not everyone wants to drive something that draws so much attention.
Next up we have my favourite, $F (Ford Motor Co) . Ford unveiled the F-150 Lightning earlier this year to an extremely warm reception from journalists, industry experts and Ford owners alike. The F-150 is already the USโs best-selling pickup, with over 750,000 sales annually. The Lightning is familiar to current F-150 owners, boasts competitive range & towing capabilities, but focuses on utility with 14 charging points, a fully-kitted out cab, and it can weigh your trailer then map your route to give a realistic range estimation. It can even act as a battery back-up power supply for your home. The truck has over 150,000 pre-orders and is slated for Spring 2022 release.
My take-away from the IPO is that it highlights even further why $F is such a great value play in the space. Rivian has a bright future long-term, and Ford is a big part of the story. They are supplying parts, theyโre sharing technologies and they still have an ace up their sleeve to partner with Rivian on a vehicle. We know it wonโt be a pickup, could it be a van? Maybe a revamped e-Transit?.
Fordโs stake in Rivian is around 10%, as I write this, and Rivian is valued at more than Ford. I like Rivian, and believe their growth potential is substantial, but for me buying into the company thatโs already profitable, has the F-150 Lightning coming, and the Mach-E doing well, is a safer bet when they also own a stake in Rivianโs future, but Iโll continue watching with interest.
