Born and raised in Detroit, Joe has spent his career dedicated to achieving equitable community development via authentic networking, social entrepreneurship, and real estate development.
As one of the founding Detroit Action Strategists for Ioby, Joe helped launch a unique model of crowdfunding that helps Detroit residents craft successful campaigns, fundraising plans, timelines, and budgets to realize specific community- or neighborhood-based projects.
As the former Outreach Director for Brightmoor Alliance, Joe worked with the Community Development Advocates of Detroit to lead the land use and quality of life planning process that resulted in the “Restore the ‘Moor” neighborhood-based framework.
Joe also worked with Southwest Housing Solutions to coordinate a workforce development job training program with a special focus on deconstruction, weatherization, and landscaping.
Passionate about creating community-based solutions to address community-identified needs, Joe founded E. Warren Development Corp, to facilitate the equitable development of the E. Warren Corridor and adjacent neighborhoods, focusing on community engagement, development facilitation, business incubation, and neighborhood-based site control

Universal Health & Wellness Kayana Sessoms is a community engagement professional specializing in health and wellness practices, restorative justice, and creating equitable spaces for all. With over 15 years of experience in designing culturally relevant, gender-sensitive, and arts-centric community programming,
Kayana has emerged as an integral contributor to neighborhood redevelopment in the Motor City.
She has also leveraged art resources as a component of outreach and engagement efforts in the community.
Kayana is a 2017 Knight Foundation Emerging City Champion and was recently recognized as Skillman Foundation’s Most Influential Detroiter for 2018.

Universal Health and Wellness (UHW) is a Detroit-based Pending non-profit whose mission is to improve the quality of life through programs that heal, empower and transform. In 2021 we established The Hitha Healing House and Garden (HHHG) hub project which will be focused on improving intergenerational wellness in the Grixdale Farms Neighborhood by providing a safe gathering space for residents and visitors.

Northwest Goldberg Cares
Daniel A. Washington, born and raised in NW Goldberg, founded the organization in 2017.
Throughout his life, Daniel and his family have actively sought to maintain the viability of the neighborhood by maintaining properties, petitioning the city of Detroit to demolish condemned structures, and cleaning up vacant lots.
NW Goldberg Cares formalizes the work he has been doing since he was a child to revitalize, stabilize, and rebuild his community.
