People marry, people get divorced and that's now an accepted part of life. But what happens when it goes wrong. Like really wrong. Today we talk about the ancient Jewish tradition of ex-husband and ex-wife giving each other their blessing when they divorce. And what happened when an ex refuses (spoiler alert: nothing). We speak to Rifka Meyer, owner of the luxurious Rifka Hair Salon who shot to fame within the London Jewish Community when news broke out that her ex-husband had still not given his blessing nearly TEN years after their divorce. Without both parties agreeing, she could not receive a Jewish document called a Gett which allows her to remarry easily. Here we talk about how the situation got this far and why no one was prepared to help her. How sharing her secret with the Instagram Influencer Dalia Oziel ultimately help create the organisation GettOutUK which has worked with the UK courts to now make this document refusal a CRIMINAL OFFENCE.
