Join us for our brand new podcast - Lose Your Mind. Alan & Kelly are Mindfulness teachers and over a series of episodes, will take you on a journey to discover why this practice is so important. Tune in so you can hear why you need to lose your mind to get it back!
Every now and again, you need to just let go and free wheel. In each episode of the Lose Your Mind podcast we have done so far, we have always followed a specific topic. Well, sometimes mindfulness is about letting your mind wander. - strange as that may seem.
Do we always need to control the space we are in - restrict ourselves to certain experiences or words? Why can't we sometimes let go and just be present with whatever is in our minds and experience right now?
Join Alan and Kelly for this - slightly different - episode where we let the conversation take us and we mindfully follow... enjoy!
During this episode of ‘The Lose Your Mind Podcast’ we talk about how mindfulness can help you harness the courage to uncover your confidence. How by taking some time, then becoming aware, we begin to see that we are able to peel back the layers to all that’s inside.
From time to time we don’t access our confidence, it hides away!
Tune in to episode 5 now and hear what we have to say on this here @theloseyourmindpodcast
Mindfulness is very often misunderstood as a way of becoming 'Zen' and zoning out, but it is absolutely not that. In this episode of the Lose Your Mind podcast you will hear Alan and Kelly discussing some topics within a topic - such as 'you have to feel it to heal it', building emotional resilience, the need to control outcomes, and allowing yourself to be angry!
Hopefully you come away with an appreciation that mindfulness applications can enhance your emotional wellbeing, and that the practice is so much more than just chilling out.
Pain is something that affects us all, whether it is physical or emotional pain. In this episode of the Lose Your Mind podcast, we explore how mindfulness can help deal with chronic pain.
We made reference in the podcast to some resources, but rather clumsily forgot some of the important bits, like names of authors etc...
Books
Mindfulness for Health: A practical guide to relieving pain, reducing stress and restoring wellbeing, by Vidyamala Burch and Danny Penman

When you pair mindfulness with whatever it is you’re doing you get to experience it, become aware of it and get more enjoyment out of it. The benefits extend to those difficult times too where processing challenge and emotion become easier to face with understanding and compassion.
We look forward to you joining our journey.
Exam Pressure? Not feeling good enough? Anxiety taking over?
Feeling overwhelmed is something we all feel at times and it can be intense. When looking ahead at all that you feel you have to do it seems unmanageable. No way through. This isn’t the case, there are things that can help you, and for World Teen Mental Wellness Day we want to raise the awareness and understanding around Mindfulness.
We discuss with Olivia, a 16 year old due to sit her GCSE’s, how mindfulness can be applied to help you when feeling overwhelmed. We discuss how taking a different approach can help you manage not only your time, but your emotions and build confidence in yourself too.
Preventing overwhelm is possible and awareness is the first step. Taking small steps to protect yourself and bringing your awareness to how you feel is valuable. You will start to see that focusing in the present helps you work through what you can control.
Tune in to listen to our latest episode where we discuss what steps you can take to bring mindfulness to your life and prevent and protect yourself.

As we close the first series of ‘The Lose Your Mind Podcast’ what a better way to do so than with a meditation!
If you have been part of our journey so far you will know that we have been discussing ‘The Attitudes of Mindfulness.’
Over the past 11 episodes we have been sharing our own thoughts and experience on how by simply being present, without judgement can really start to make huge beneficial changes to our lives.
The attitudes of mindfulness are a great foundation and when bringing our attention to these states of mind they help us cultivate mindfulness.
Meditation is a formal practice of mindfulness and during this final episode we explore all of the attitude’s in this short meditation for you to try as we wrap up series 1!
You need to do nothing except take a seat with no expectation and simply let things be as they are.
Notice how you feel, and if your mind wanders just notice this.
Notice how you can apply the attitudes during this meditation as well as in your life.
We hope you enjoy and manage to relax for a few minutes.

In the last in this current series, where we discuss the Attitudes of Mindfulness, we cover kindness and compassion. Alan and Kelly talk about that most difficult of emotions self-compassion, and practical tips on practising this critical aspect of our lives.
We judge everything, even subconsciously. It is a survival thing, but it can also get in the way of new thinking and new ideas. We get in the habit of judgmental thinking and don't leave space for new experiences. Being mindful means awareness of this, having an open mind and then making your call. In this, the last of the mindful attitudes discussed by Alan and Kelly, you can hear their views on how we can embed this fresh thinking into our lives.
Tune in to hear Alan and Kelly discuss one of the most powerful of all mindful attitudes - the ability to see what is right in front of us, however trivial it may seem, and just be grateful for it. This can turn your day from a low mood to one of mindful pleasure.
That most elusive of concepts when all seems lost nothing turns out as you hoped. In this episode, Alan and Kelly explain how letting life unfold as it should can take the pressure off the present moment and help you discover yourself in the process.
Open up your mind to endless possibilities! Join us in this episode where we discuss the benefits of a Beginners Mind!
In this weeks episode of Lose Your Mind, Kelly an Alan discuss the mindful attitude of patience. It's not always easy to be patient, not ony with others and life in general, but with ourselves.
Tune in and find out some tips on how avoidance of rushing forward can help you move faster in the long run. Slow and steady wins the race!
In this conversation, Kelly and Alan discuss how we can slow down to speed up. Stopping fixating on results and start to enjoy the process...and life...more
In this episode of the Lose Your Mind Podcast, Alan & Kelly discuss letting go, another of the mindful attitudes. Many of us have difficulty in letting go, sometimes by looking at how we hold on we begin to see how we can loosen our grip on all that we cling on to.
Tune in now to Episode 4!
Putting up resistance delays progress. When we are able to bring acceptance to whatever arises for us, good or bad it creates space to be with whatever’s arisen, without the penalty attached. You don’t have to like it, just be with it.
It doesn’t mean you have to accept the situation ongoing either, just the moment you’re in.
It’s from this place that we can process what arises for us much more effectively.
Tune in with us for the first in the series of the Mindful Attitudes.
