Founded in 1909 by the Josephites and parishioners from Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Mobile, Alabama, it is the largest and oldest Black Catholic lay-led organization still in existence.

Tim Colbert is the Director of the Office of Adolescent Catechesis & Evangelization for the Archdiocese of Galveston Houston.

Mr. Colbert has been working to address and increase awareness of the importance  of Catechesis and evangelization in the African and African American Community of the Archdiocese.
