At Peer Solutions, our mission is developing youth led strategies to prevent Adverse Childhood Experiences and our vision is a world where everyone is safe, and treated equitably with respect. This is a world free from harm to self, others, animals, and the planet. We cultivate Safety, Equity, and Respect as norms to address the root causes of harm and prevent it.
In this episode of our TIPP training for Families we discuss how to visualize and set goals for ourselves and our family through the SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, and Timely) goal setting system.
With a new understanding of ACEs, Historical Trauma, stress hormones, and cultural specific parenting and self care, we discuss how to cultivate resilience individually and in families through a Trauma Informed salutogenic model.
In this installment of our TIPP Training for Families we talk about stress hormones and role of trauma has in their production, the effect of stress hormones on individuals and families, and ways to understand and manage their effects and impact, including practical advice and exercises on parenting, mindfulness, and culturally specific self care.
Building on the concepts discussed in the first episode, we talk about Trauma Informed, culturally specific parenting. Examples, resources, exercises, and practical advice are given for confronting trauma and approaching parenting with a trauma informed and culturally relevant lens.
