In Her Eyes: Recent Episodes

Lynne Niehaus

From the moment we looked into our daughters' gorgeous eyes, we knew we would never be the same. Every day we see our own struggles and joy reflected back as we strive to meet their needs but not abandon our own. We are mommas on a mission to help our creative girls THRIVE.

I am Lynne Niehaus, an Interior Designer, artist, momma, biologist, and space coach. I host this podcast for women who want to reconnect with their own magic, conquer the chaos, and support their daughters through the beautiful, but often choppy, waters of raising confident girls who can trust their own spark.

My husband asked me if I could print a permission slip for his daughter's dentist appointment tomorrow.

Three hours later, after a powerful healing season with one of my coaches, it became the inspiration for the final episode of Season 4 of the In Her Eyes Podcast.

We have all heard "Home is where the heart is" but I love the definition that my guest, Author and Interior Designer-Carrie Leskowitz, gives of HOME on this week's podcast:

"Home is the combination of ourselves and our living space."

This conversation is an honest and insightful look at the transformative power of an energetically aligned home from 2 designers who have seen miracles happen, within our own lives and the lives of our clients.

Carrie shares with us how the insights and actions detailed in her book, OM for the Home, which was born from a personal medical crisis can be applied to your home to create an environment that supports sustainable joy.

She shares how she applies the skills she learned as a life coach to help clients and readers create more awareness around harmful thought patterns.

"How you do one thing, is how you do everything. It is all connected."

Finding the messages your home is giving you can guide you to deep insights + revelations that help you expand and grow into the life you desire.

Colors play a vital role in our children's growth and development.

Since colors are energetic wavelengths with different frequencies, they influence our bodies. Like all other energies, children are even more sensitive to them than we are. Using what we know about color to support our children's individual personalities and biological makeup is important.

When we design their space in a way that takes into consideration we can improve their overall health, physical, mental, and emotional. We can also bring more joy and stability to their daily lives.

This is a subject I am passionate about and could talk for days.

I tried to stick to the basics of how to get started.

You will learn:

  • how to evaluate their needs
  • open communication
  • brainstorm ideas
  • recognize if they are currently over or under-stimulated in their existing space
  • work with what you already have
  • make changes that don't require expensive purchases

Have you ever had to focus on the horizon to keep from getting seasick?

It works.

Take it from someone who has a super-sensitive stomach.

Our eyes naturally move to find the next similar thing. It's how we move through the world without constantly falling down.

Contrast provides drama but similarity creates a sense of safety, consciously and subconsciously.

With some practice with this technique, you will elevate how you feel constantly welcomed into each space as you move through your home.

In this episode of the In Her Eyes podcast, Interior Designer and color specialist, Lynne Niehaus shares how you can use a simple design strategy that makes adjoining spaces feel cohesive to create harmony in your home.

You will learn:

  • how to tie spaces together yet still preserve their individual integrity and function.
  • how pull dissimilar spaces together
  • what pieces make good transition choices
  • how to keep colorful spaces from feeling isolated from more neutral spaces
  • how to get a "bird's eye view" of your living space to create flow

Your nervous system is both the director and producer in your experience of the story of your life. Creating a home that harmoniously supports its function will give you more peace and joy throughout your days and nights.

Do you remember the time when you were passionate about a color?

I love how toddlers proudly and confidently announce their favorite colors.

There is no denying that the color they love is one that they feel; all the way to their bones!

Color has a vibrational effect on all of us, even when we have stopped communicating our passion for it.

In this episode, I share with you the ways that you can use the colors that directly affect your mood during this time of decreased sunlight.

I teach you which colors work best and why.

How to identify the right color/s for you.

I share with you the ways to incorporate them in your decor and other areas of your life, as well as the visionary process for using them to alter your vibration and create an environment ripe for healing and relief to take place.

What does it mean to be trendy?

When clients announce to me that they are “not trendy” upon first consultation, I know that it means one or a combination of these 3 things:

  • “I have definitive opinions about what I do and don’t like.”
  • “I want the selections in my space to have staying power, i.e. I don’t want my space to feel dated in a couple of years.”
  • “I want to feel seen in my space.”

Many times they have invested in products or services that haven’t aged well.

Or conversely, they have made choices they loved in the past. And now what they see in the retail market isn’t their vibe, yet they feel the need to update.

I often get asked about the Colors promoted as “color of the year” by the different companies.

Specifically, I get asked what I think.

I have come to recognize that it is a loaded question.

In this episode, I tell you EXACTLY what I think. The muzzle’s off!

I have some pretty strong opinions:

They get cerebral: bringing in Rudolf Steiner’s writings on color energetics. His analysis of color he refers to as Peach Blossom in his 1921 lectures on color is relevant in this discussion of Pantone’s selection of Peach Fuzz for 2024 over 100 years later! The energetics of a color matter.

They get subjective: I was sailing the deep, history-laden parts of the Mediterranean when Benjamin Moore’s Blue Nova and it’s corresponding color palette was unveiled.

They get biased: a girl’s gotta have favorites!

I explain the difference between a “trend”- which is a forecast with underlying significance. And a “selection”- which is a marketing tactic designed to speak to a particular demographic.

We do live in a consumer-driven society, after all.

Your home should reflect your individuality, inspire you, and propel you forward.

You can understand yourself by understanding how you gravitate toward (or run from!) a color palette and unlock what’s right for YOU!

Every great feat, invention, or accomplishment began with someone believing in the possibility of its existence.

When you allow yourself to believe in the possibility of what you want in your life,

whether its more money

more joy

healthier body

more clarity

a bigger home;

the path to whatever that desire is begins to form.

What would your life look like if you leaned into the possibility of all of your dreams coming true?

Whatever you want to change or affect in 2024 starts with identifying the stories you tell.

What are you continuing to tell yourself that keeps you stuck; repeating the same patterns?

On a recent trip "home", the area where I grew up, I came face-to-face with a story I hadn't recognized. It is easier to blame others than to accept your responsibility for the situation you are in.

That doesn't make the actions of others okay.

But it does change how you get to experience your life.

This episode will help you move into 2024 with the clarity you need to get the results you desire.

Do you blame or shame yourself when your New Year's resolutions fall flat?

Every gym owner knows that most people have abandoned their resolutions by the end of February.

I have found that creating a Word of the Year to guide me through the year and serve as a fundamental principle that I can take action from to be far more valuable than setting a New Year's resolution.

It allows me to:

  • focus on my priorities
  • honor my dreams
  • create structure
  • look back with love + compassion for myself
  • see my growth

2023 was a year of introspection, going inward, on a global, energetic scale.

When I chose my word of the year last winter, I didn't know that.

As a result, I was able to see blockages to my alignment that I didn't know existed.

Was it easy?

NO.

Was it necessary for who I desire to be + what I want to create?

100%!

In this episode, I walk you through the questions to ask yourself in reflection as well as the process for selecting a WORD OF THE YEAR for 2024 that helps you align with your dreams.

Did you know that the molecules that your body creates when you are happy or excited are lighter + softer than the ones created when you are feeling sad or angry?

In the alternative health and energetic healing world, you learn the path to feeling better is to release the heavy, dense emotions that you have stored in your body because you didn't fully experience it.

We are taught from a young age to suppress our emotions; particularly the negative ones.

So learning to feel our emotions can feel like an overwhelming task.

What if the path to learning to move through negative emotions can be found in spending more time, CONSIDERABLY MORE TIME, in our positive emotions?

When we luxuriate in positive emotions, we raise our vibration. We increase our energy level. We feel lighter (because we are!) and more capable. We can move through more challenging circumstances with less resistance.

Give yourself the gift of joy by relishing the positive.

I have to admit that when I first heard of numerology, I was skeptical. It felt like one more modality assigning meaning to something arbitrary.

Yet I know exactly where I am in this present moment thanks to numbers.

-The time

-The year

-The month

-The day, including the date

-My location, longitude + latitude

My guest interview this week demystifies the field of numerology and explains it from a practical, mom's point of view.

Cassandra Ares, the owner of CassandraFreya, is a tattooed corporate Queen by day, and a badass spirit intuitive by night. She is the Mama to a Fire Fairy and serves by installing the frequency of Faith into one freedom seeker at a time.

Just like her 17-month-old daughter, this conversation is FIRE!

She shares how she uses the insight gained from her daughter's numerology chart to align with her toddler's needs.

She walks us through the different energy bodies and explains our hidden challenges and strengths.

She explains how we can tap into the information held within our own birthdate, our numerology, to align our lives.

The 5 points:

  • Soul Number [Challenge]
  • Karma Number [Challenge]
  • Destiny [Strength]
  • Gift [Strength]
  • Path [Challenge to Strength]

reveal a lifetime (or more!) of information.

Not only does this episode help you unlock powerful information that is at your fingertips, it also illustrates the strength of the bonds built within communities of a like-minded sisterhood.

I share the significant role that Cass's daughter, Freya, has played in my own creative evolution.

It is a magical, mystical journey that will leave you thinking deep thoughts for sure!

Have you ever considered how many times you didn't say “yes” to what you truly wanted?

Saying yes is more than not saying no.

The past few weeks my husband and I shared an incredible vacation visiting the Greek Isles and parts of Italy.

I returned with electric energy within me, feeling whole and connected, while also dealing with ongoing turmoil in my business.

Deciding what to complete first, what actions to take with this energy, gave me the opportunity to discover what I was going to SAY YES to.

I had this opportunity during the time that I was reflecting on this on the time that I was reflecting on my trip to recognize all the time that I didn't say yes to what I really wanted.

You will learn:

  • How to tap into your inner discernment.
  • The art of making your 'yes' a sacred commitment to your truth.
  • How the principles of Human Design align your actions with your unique energy.
  • Reflection on missed opportunities and the importance of aligning your choices with your desires.
  • How to create a life that truly honors your desires, emotions, and authentic self.

When you are only saying yes to the things that set you on fire, you are moving into alignment with the life that you desire to be living.

If you aren't where you wanted to be, the easiest way to bring yourself into that harmony is to fill your plate with those things that set you on fire.

Building Trust

The journey he shares with us through hardship has shaped his, now sightless, view of the world. It has helped him see opportunities to build trust, enhance and restore relationships in even the most hopeless circumstances.

The work that he has done for over 2 decades in helping others build trust in hostile environments can be applied to every relationship in our lives.

Home, work, business, community. Whether they could use some enhancement or a radical transformation.

Darryl breaks down the different elements of trust giving us an actionable template to apply to any relationship.

We dive deep into the reasons that our ability to trust and to build trust are at an all time low in the climate that we are currently in.

What does “sacred space” mean to you?

It doesn’t have to be in houses of worship. Creating them in your home is a vital step toward a less stressful holiday season.

  • The importance of aligning these spaces with your personal beliefs and truths.
  • The power of recognizing and valuing both your own inner sacredness and external rituals.

  • Practical techniques for cleansing and elevating your physical space, including the use of candles, salt lamps, incense, sage, and sound.
  • The challenge of balancing a busy life as a woman and the importance of having a sacred space to retreat to.

This episode is part one in a multi-part series and we focus on laying the foundation.

We begin by “clearing the air. “

You will learn multiple methods to cleanse the air (energy) in your home as well as your personal energy.

As busy women doing all the things, we can get lost in all the things. If we don't have a sacred space to come to, it can be really challenging.

So never ever, my friend, forget about your own power to cleanse and elevate.

Have you ever wondered if the color of your walls and the arrangement of your furniture could be the keys to unlocking your full potential?

In this episode, we're going to be talking about intentionally designing our spaces. Using our physical spaces and how we think about the design of them to support our habits.

There's some things in the standard idea of design, decorating, and interior decorating, that go against our natural ability to incorporate a new habit or to change a current habit.

Oftentimes we feel like we don't have enough space to do the things that we want to do and it's those excuses about the limitations that our homes have that we let creep in when we're trying to build a new set of healthy habits.

Today, I want to just really tell you some of the decorating and design do's and don'ts that can really help you support yourself in these healthy habits.

Systems and solutions that make your life easier.

How to think about things in new ways.

You will learn:

  • The powerful role of color in supporting physical, emotional, and mental well-being.
  • How intentional space design can positively impact your habits and lifestyle.
  • Recognizing design principles that align with or hinder habit formation.
  • The value of looking at things objectively and breaking old patterns.
  • Decor and design do's and don'ts to aid in healthy habit development.
  • Strategies for creating systems and solutions that simplify your life.
  • Shifting your perspective to find solutions within your existing space.
  • The magic of taking action on your vision before making purchases.

You can’t just go out and shop for your vision, your vision has to be inscribed on your heart in order for it to support you at a higher level.

That, my friend, is where the magic lies. You can do anything, you can bring anything into your life. Any habit, any lifestyle change, as long as you set the vision, commit to it, and begin to take action.

What do Shamanism and Energetics have to do with everyday life in a modern world?

How does the ancient wisdom of shamanism and the modern practice of energy healing transform your well-being?

What if it can empower you to create a life of balance and harmony?

I have found that being willing and open to embrace new thought models are the very thing that moves me into the life I desire to create for myself and my family.

Our beliefs shape our physical well being. Our physical health.

We have the capacity to reprogram ourselves into a state of physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing. Which is why I have the perfect guest this week to dive into this subject.

Sarah Beth Green is a shamanic energy healer at the Yarning Shaman who works with individuals who want to unlock and understand their own individual gifts and energy body and connect more deeply with indigenous wisdom.

In this episode, I introduce you to modern day Shaman who uses her training and gifts associated with the movement of energy through your body, your environment, and beyond to help you align yourself with the rhythms of a life lived with less dis-ease.

You will learn:

  • How your beliefs and thoughts are stored in places in your body, not just your mind.
  • About the power you innately hold to create and control your inner and outer world.
  • What the role of energy healing and shamanism is in identifying and clearing stored experiences and trauma.
  • How the intuitive nature of energy medicine and its benefits can calm the nervous system through trauma release.
  • How to pay attention to energetics in your home and body to tune into your intuitive feelings about your surroundings.
  • How to support your children’s health by surrounding them with natural elements and fibers. Supporting their sensitivity and relationship to their natural form.

Sarah shares with us how, traditionally, we are born with a feeling of needing to serve a purpose, without even consciously knowing it.

Those feelings can often be poured into surrounding ourselves with stuff and experiences. Feeling restlessness in your soul. Searching for the calming of your nervous system.

Bridging the realms of shamanism, energy healing, and everyday life can hold the key to the transformation that your heart has been craving.

My friend, please remember that we are worthy of pure, whole health. Our illnesses and our struggles and our obstacles do not define us, but that beautiful light from which we emanate from is our worthiness, where we find strength and self-love and over encompassing love.

Who do you look to when you need direction?

Do you trust the answers that you find?

I believe that we each create our own reality. I believe that everything we experience is just a little bit different from the person next to us, and our stories and our backgrounds and our history defines that. What's the secret to harnessing your true potential?

If the goal is to have more of what we DO want, why do we spend so much time thinking about what we don’t want? This week, we dive into the intriguing journey of uncovering your desires and navigating the energies that shape your path.

From starting new projects, focusing on a new area of a house, to mediating between my clients and their family members during a new design project, I see this conversation come up often.

When we’re in the energy of “what I don't want is…” we’re in an entirely different energetic space.

A lot of people struggle with sitting in the energy of what they do want.

In this episode, you will learn:

  • The power of identifying what you don't want and understanding your true desires.
  • The distinct energetic shift when you focus on "what I don't want" versus "what I do want."
  • Valuable insights from the Abraham Hicks philosophy on the value of recognizing and course-correcting from the "don't want" energy.
  • The societal influence of advertising and social media, and how they often perpetuate our focus on the negative.
  • Strategies to break free from the hold of "don't want" energy and step into a higher vibrational frequency.
  • How to recognize and detach from unwanted energy patterns.
  • The pivotal role of conscious choices in shifting your energy and accelerating progress toward your goals.

My friend, I hope that when you catch yourself in that energy of what you don't want, you can realize that it's a state of victimhood that we’ve put ourselves in. Allow it to be valuable insight and a reminder to move into that state of what you do want. Allow yourself to spend the rest of this magnificent day focusing on what you do want.

Loving yourself is a journey. What if there is a way to connect to that love daily?

My guest on this week’s episode has transformed the experience and trauma from her own journey in the highly competitive world of dance into a method that we can

Learn,

Explore our deeply embedded trauma,

Discover,

Heal,

And step into a deeper love and appreciation for our own bodies–and ourselves.

It’s called Somatic Movement.

It's about embracing the language of your body, listening to its desires, and allowing the wisdom to guide you.

There is so much wisdom that's innately in the body.

Alana Williamson is an accomplished and acclaimed dancer, an instructor, a choreographer, a speaker and a somatic movement facilitator.

<>

In this episode you will learn:

  • The difference between dance and somatic movement
  • The steps and process of somatic movement
  • Recognizing trauma loops and how to break them down
  • The importance of seeking out simple moments where you can tune into your body's desires
  • How to embrace the intuitive nudges our bodies send us, surrendering to them, and allowing our movements to flow

We even had the chance to bring COLOR into the conversation!

This conversation held a treasure trove of beautiful insights. As I revisited it, I was reminded of the importance of seeking out moments in life, simple moments, where you can tune into your body's desires.

After listening to this episode, you will want to find time to move your body. Move in ways that your body has not experienced since it was a very little body.

Do you struggle to let go? Are you feeling overwhelmed with clutter, to-do lists, and back to school organization?

Every “how to declutter” starts with getting rid of things that are expired, broken, don’t fit, etc. It’s when we come upon those things that we once loved. Or have happy memories attached to that prove challenging.

When decisions need to be made, overwhelm can set in.

And it’s easier to push it off to another day.

Developing a healthy relationship with the things that you have accumulated moves from being a skill to an art when you master that delicate dance of allowing yourself to let go.

But even before you have mastered the art, you can begin to help your children recognize their attachments.

I strongly believe that one of the foundational pieces to having a home that inspires you and that you truly love is being able to make decisions about your stuff. Understanding your relationship to those material possessions and creating a healthy relationship with them is a crucial step.

How do we let go? What does the process of holding onto things look like?

Holding onto our stuff, our possessions, derives from an evolutionary survival skill. Our innate need to hold on goes back to a basic reflex we learned at birth.

In this episode, you will learn:

  • How to categorize possessions and belongings into categories aligned with your emotions, self-beliefs, actions, and perceptions.
  • What the Parental attachments can look like.
  • Understanding how to let go and the evolutionary survival skill that drives our need to hold onto possessions.
  • The process of identifying emotional baggage; recognizing how feelings and insecurities from childhood contribute to our inclination to hold onto things we no longer need.
  • How to recognize where the problem is.
  • Identifying items and possessions you struggle to release.
  • The process of honoring possessions with love before letting go.
  • Why it's necessary to create space by making physical, emotional, and spiritual room for new desires.

Do you use the words feelings and emotions interchangeably?

The difference is more than just semantics.

It can explain your own reactions and the reactions of others around you and why we struggle to communicate.

And feel heard.

Or validated.

When I heard that an emotion is any feeling that lasts more than 6 hours, it blew my mind.

And led me down the rabbit hole that became this podcast.

In this episode you will learn:

  • Why we need to lean into this difference
  • How emotions can be liars
  • Where unexpected feelings come from
  • How to distinguish between feelings and emotions
  • How to analyze emotions to take desirable action
  • Why validation is key
  • What role positive emotions play in our well-being

I share with you how to begin with self-awareness and learn to sit with your own feelings. You will understand how to process them, grasp their messages, and distinguish them from past events or beliefs.

Understanding and mastering the interplay between thoughts, feelings, and emotions can be a powerful tool to shape a fulfilling and authentic life.

Did you know that color can be used as a powerful tool to aid in physical and emotional healing?

When we break down what color really is: a vibrational wavelength of light, we can connect to the science behind this concept.

Our bodies process information through intricate pathways of our nervous system, translating it into chemical constructs that trigger various bodily functions. Color is no exception.

In this episode, you will learn:

  • The ways in which our bodies, as complex systems, respond to everything we encounter.
  • Why every cell can process color information, not just the photoreceptors in our eyes.
  • What a color really is- scientifically.
  • Where colors influence us even when we are not consciously aware of them
  • How to understand that vibration and frequency have measurable scientific relevance to our responses to colors.
  • How intentionally working with colors can impact our well-being.
  • The different ways to use colors to amplify their effects.

Color is a powerful tool for emotional, physical, and spiritual alignment. By consciously using color, we can create alignment within ourselves and our lives.

Have you ever started to clean the powder room and then 2 hours later you found yourself on a different floor, pictures off the wall, the bed stripped, a hammer in one hand, and a computer in your lap with the Amazon tab open and it's 4 minutes until you have to leave to pick up the kids?

Welcome to my Monkey Brain!

Or maybe, one of your kids exhibits this behavior?

This episode will help you turn your magical Monkey Brain into a productivity powerhouse!

At least in spurts.

As a Manifesting Generator, it is nearly impossible to focus on one task. And that's how I am designed. My Human Design that is.

It's how I am able to envision an entire space or project in one instant.

Thinking big, and bold, and creative is what I am designed to do.

This makes the simple "to do's" nearly impossible or feel constrictive and icky, so I a system is the key.

In this episode, I give you the exact steps you need (or can teach your child) to work with that delightful expansive brain and GET THINGS DONE!

I give them to you in a way that you can tailor to your or your child's needs. To feel accomplished.

And build confidence! Moving away from your limiting beliefs-which are what really hold you back from what you want.

In this episode, I share with you my personal journey of tapping into my own soul-led gifts and vision: the process of becoming “The Design Shaman.”

Last year, I began to experience an extraordinary call to connect to nature on a deeper level.  As I did, I began to see parallels between the messages that we learn from our Earth Mother and intuitive practices that I use in helping clients achieve their dream spaces.

This journey went far beyond a rebranding of my business and offerings.

It was transformational on every level of my being:

Physical, Mental, Emotional, and Spiritual

In this episode you will learn:

  • Where it came from.
  • What the word “Shaman” really means.
  • How it applies to creating homes, lives, and spaces we dream into being
  • How the design process can be healing on every level
  • Where we can go from here

To kick off Season 4 of the In Her Eyes podcast, we begin the journey of self-discovery and the process of tapping into the power of our TRUE SELVES.

I have the PERFECT person to bring that conversation to you this week.

Ironically, much of our conversation revolves around the beauty of IMPERFECTION, and the lessons that it teaches us about BEAUTY, HARMONY, and the activation of SELF-LOVE.

In this episode, Ebonie takes us on a beautiful journey from the awkward little girl who didn't fit in to a woman who lives each day in JOY as a full expression of herself.

She shares with us how each level of deeper understanding of herself, her passions, and the world around led her to the creation of a home that supports her. Ebonie describes her own space as one woven together through form and function to meet all of her needs, beautifully. Her intentionality of each space is an inspiring lesson that we can all use to take action on our own spaces.

She describes, in detail, the daily ritual she uses to activate her Magical Essence. The power and alignment it brings her. And we discuss how sharing it with the young girls in our lives empowers them to express their own authenticity.

Stepmothers get a really bad rap.

And Disney does no favors to us stepmoms!

Emotions are hard to navigate on their own. But when you introduce the dynamics of the role you play in someone else’s life, you’re sailing through uncharted seas with numerous variables.

This week I am sharing with you an extraordinary conversation that I had with a remarkable woman who supports high-achieving women in their roles as step-mothers.

Liz Kelly is a stepmom of nearly ten years to two teenage (bonus) boys and mom to two toddler boys.

She and her husband are raising these four incredible souls on our homestead near Princeton, New Jersey.

Five years ago, she became steeped learning how the brain processes emotion. Now as a neuro-emotional coach, she works with high-achieving women – especially stepmoms – providing emotional safety and the tools and language to understand how their emotions work. Through this work, women are changing how they show up for themselves and their families.

Liz comes from a 20-year career in writing and public relations to make her the perfect person to do this work in the world..

When you have found success in various areas of your life, it is hard to admit to struggling in such a vital and central area of your life.

Liz shares with us the reasons that she started working with stepmoms and how her research in neuro-emotions and self-regulation have become a refreshing, if not REVOLUTIONARY, way of looking at step-parenting.

This conversation is eye-opening if you play a central role in the raising of ANY children.

Liz helps us design the life that we want as a stepmom by:

  • Explaining the role negative stereotypes play.
  • The common challenges that stepmoms face
  • Understanding the true foundational needs of each family member
  • Knowing the 3 Brain states
  • Interpreting the brain states to appropriately respond to a situation or circumstance and provide the support needed
  • Changing the energy dynamics of our bonus children's experience of the home
  • The role self-regulation plays in the ability to be the person you desire to be in your role as a step-mom

Throughout this conversation we discuss the ways that we can create emotionally-nourishing and supportive environments to help our kids, our spouse, and ourselves thrive in the blended-family dynamic.

I have to admit that I held a great deal of angst going into this conversation. In truth, it is not something that I feel like I have done well to date.

But in this beautiful and heart-felt conversation, Liz opened my eyes to a different way to approach so many of the challenges that I have encountered.

And, mostly, that I am not alone in my struggles.

One of the easiest ways to enrich your overall health and well-being is to incorporate herbs into your daily life. But there is so much information out there, it is hard to know where to begin.

And most of us have been raised to be wary of things that grow on their own.

In the Western Hemisphere, we have come to see “health” as an ongoing battle. We are constantly trying to fix things that are broken or out of whack. Incorporating herbs into your everyday life creates a natural balance where your body is better able to respond to its surroundings with ease.

That’s why I am so excited to share with you the conversation that I had with a Master Herbalist!

My guest on this week’s episode, Heidi Benard, came to herbalism in the most pure way possible: wanting a healthier existence for her daughter than she had as a child.

Heidi has been creating organic herbal products professionally for over a decade and she started My Herbal Apothecary in 2019.

Her continued curiosity encourages her to extend her education and exploration every year. Heidi enjoys distilling this information into fun, easy-to-access plant-based products for your home medicine cabinet.

Our bodies are designed to process things in their most natural state, not the extracted and synthesized way we get most of our nutrients.

In this conversation, we discuss the simplest ways to get more goodness into our bodies.

Whether you are new the herbalism or have a cupboard full of tinctures and tisanes, you will love this conversation on the simplicity of introducing herbs into your life.

If you are looking to expand your journaling practice, feel stuck, or have yet to develop one; this episode is for you.

I find journaling to be the greatest gift I give to myself.

The ULTIMATE SELF-CARE.

Gems of wisdom, symbols, poetry, understanding, clarity, and guidance all appear in the private pages of my musing.

There is a reason the Julia Cameron’s brilliant book, The Artist’s Way, relies so heavily on the practice of journaling (or what she refers to as “the morning pages.”)

In this episode I guide you through the process of finding your journaling sweet spot.

I also share with you a bit of the poetry that appeared in my journal. In the page that I opened to, to share from, was one whereI was up in the middle of the night writing outside under a full moon. NOT something that happens often.

But one where I am eternally grateful for the moment, and the words that came through.

Whether you are a journaling novice, or an old pro like me, you will find a path to a deeper level of creativity in this episode.

Meditation has been shown to have cardiovascular and neurological benefits. But it can also expand your own creativity.

It seems that I run into a lot of people who say that they can’t meditate. Or they aren’t very good at it. (Their words not mine.)

Recently, my step-daughter asked me about starting a meditation practice. It got me thinking about where I started, how my practice has evolved over the years.

Because we are talking about creativity this month, I had originally planned to create a meditation for listeners addressed to creativity. But then I realized that I had so much to offer to those that find it difficult to meditate. So instead, I decided to create a podcast dedicated to beginning or helping you expand your practice.

In this episode you will learn:

  • The difference between meditation and a meditative state.
  • What meditation has to do with creativity
  • Meditation positions
  • Sound aides
  • Incense and essential oils to use
  • And meditation resources (both free and great value)

If you have ever wondered why you may struggle to pick wall colors or hang art in your home, this podcast is for you.

In this episode, my guest is a fellow artist and color obsessed momma.

Visual artist, colorist, writer Barbara Mayfield was born and raised in Philadelphia, studied at the Tyler School of Art and is a graduate of the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts.

She works in oil and acrylic on canvas, panel and paper, as well as assemblage. Her luminous imagery celebrates the natural world and our place in it.

She authored and illustrated The Magical Mrs. Iptweet and Me, an award-winning novel for the grade-school set about the joys and power of creative play and community.

She was one of four artists on the first mural arts team at the Philadelphia Museum of Art Community Programs Department who brought contemporary mural art to Philadelphia.

In 1991, Mayfield moved to northern New Mexico where she studied monotype printmaking at the Santa Fe Art Institute.

Her work has been represented by galleries in Philadelphia, Washington DC, Stamford, Connecticut, and Santa Fe, New Mexico.

Her artworks are part of public and private collections across the country.

She began her career in color consulting in 2015 with the Benjamin Moore Paint Co.

Now an independent color consultant, Mayfield serves residential and commercial clients who seek an artist’s eye and color expertise and sensibility when choosing paint colors in the greater Philadelphia area.

Barbara shares with us how art is an integral part of her whole life. She was raised by an artist and despite being encouraged to pursue more lucrative careers, she never really found another hat that fit.

In the episode, Barbara reads an excerpt from her book: The Magical Ms. Iptweet and Me. She tells the fascinating story of how the book came to be. She reinforced my belief that allowing yourself to dream (and keeping a pencil and paper by your bed) has real world implications!

We talked extensively about the power and importance of choosing and hanging artwork at home.

How and where to find local artists.

How to communicate with them (they are mostly introverts, so this is important!)

Wall colors that work best with art.

The importance of positioning.

The healing powers of a color aligned home.

Why you SHOULDN’T test out a wall color by painting a sample on the wall.

And so much more!

Could our seasonal allergies be exacerbated by our current physical and emotional state?

I believe they are.

As a kid, I didn’t hear about seasonal allergies very often.

In fact, when I announced to my family that I had a “debilitating allergy to dust” to avoid spring cleaning, I thought I was pretty unique. I wore that badge proudly for years.

As I have continued to rid my house of artificial fragrances and other toxins, I find that I almost never experience anything that you would put the “allergy” label on. And my immune system seems capable of combating other more dangerous invaders as well.

The perfect balance.

If we look at the emotional states that can amplify allergic reactions and how to take action from a more systemic approach, we see a fascinating correlation.

In this episode, I help you find the solutions to take charge of your immune system so that it doesn’t overreact when exposed to all the precious responses our plant friends are producing in the days and weeks ahead.

When we think of our body as a castle, and our immune system as the knights who are protecting the castle, we can start to see how we can approach allergy season with a sense of control rather than helplessness.

We look at

  • The science behind an allergic response.
  • The properties of the cells that respond.
  • The ways to stabilize our defense system
  • Natural remedies
  • An affirmation
  • Colors (yes, colors!) to work with to mitigate overactive sinuses
  • And the Chakra involved

  • What do you have that you aren’t using?

When we let our hearts guide our actions, we automatically upgrade whatever we are working on.

Tune in to discover how the simple act of “cleaning” can lead to an energetic upgrade that can ultimately transform your life.

Dr. Wayne Dyer famously defined the EGO as Edging God Out.

I don’t know about you but I remember growing up hearing the phrase “Cleanliness is next to Godliness” more times than I can count.

Yet when it comes to cleaning, we often approach it from an ego-centric perspective. It’s more about the facade of clean. It's more about what things look like. (Or smell like!) But in reality, “clean” doesn’t have a smell.

The multi-billion dollar cleaning industry would have you believe otherwise.

They also want you to think that every surface AND kind of dirt requires a different product to do the job “right.”

In this episode, I discuss the trade-offs we make to create the facade.

Our health. Our children’s health. The extra space in our cabinets we use to house all the things we supposedly need. The environmental impact. And so on.

This episode is designed to help you evaluate those spring cleaning urges as they arrive; where they come from; and how to take action from your authentic self. And what is most directly aligned with the vision that you have for yourself and your family.

We often think of clutter as mess. But when we take a hard look at how and why we do the things we do, or feel like we should do, we can start to see even the things that we use to clean and organize as a source of our distress.

Each week I offer an essential oil recommendation to align with the topic of the In Her Eyes podcast episode.

Most times, I forget to mention it.

But you can always find it on the episode webpage.

Peppermint is one of the most ubiquitous essential oils.  Because of its chemical properties, it aligns perfectly with the concept of taking action on those things which support your biggest dreams: i.e. “what’s important.”

It can be used topically, diffused, sniffed out of the bottle, or ingested.**** But only if it comes from a pure, lab-tested source!

It assists with all of the following physical challenges:

  • ALERTNESS & ENERGY
  • FEVERS & HOT FLASHES
  • BURNS & SUNBURN
  • MEMORY ISSUES & AUTISM
  • CRAVINGS
  • MUSCLE STIFFNESS & TENSION
  • ALLERGIES & HIVES
  • HEADACHES & MIGRAINES
  • BAD BREATH & HANGOVER
  • ASTHMA & SINUSITIS
  • DECREASE MILK SUPPLY
  • LOSS OF SENSE OF SMELL
  • GASTRITIS & BELLY ACHES

On an emotional level it moves you from a state of HINDERED —> INVIGORATED

In this short bonus episode, I share with you the power of peppermint to make that emotional shift!

Do you know what you really want?

Our body is brilliant at giving us the clues we need to discover both what we want and what we need.

But society and social conditioning teaches us to override that information.  And we become consumers instead of creators.

In this episode, I give you 2 important questions to ask yourself when you are faced with a decision.  They are transformational.  And will help you align what you really want with what is showing up in your life.

You can apply this process of analysis to anything, no matter how big (i.e.expensive) or mundane and simple.

We are good at finding excuses that keep us from going after our biggest dreams.  Until we take a step back and evaluate our actions, we continue to resist the flow that we could step into if we just let ourselves.

Is this an episode about DESIGN?  You betcha!

Is this an episode about SELF-ACCEPTANCE? It sure is!

Is this an episode about EMOTIONAL ALIGNMENT? Yep!  That too!

This episode will help you see the power that you have to get what you want and evaluate the true cost of not pursuing it NOW!

You are LIGHT, my love.

A magical array of colors that those around you experience without having to give words.

In those moments when you are

-most aligned,

-most at peace,

-most yourself,

you shine the brightest.

That sunrise that takes your breath away is also you.

In this episode, I discuss the energy of the light and color that we project; known as our aura.  And why it is important to understand.

How it is a piece of who we are.

Understanding ourselves is the surest path to creating surroundings that delight and inspire us.

I share with you the rare occasions I have seen the auras of others.  And why the circumstances that the people I observed were in, and the state of mind I was in, allowed me to experience their unique energetic projection.

I share with you what the color differences mean.

We have all experienced the energy of others whether or not we have seen it.  As an empath, I actively strengthen my aura each morning through an energetic alignment practice.  I know that it feels good.  That’s the reason I do it.  But when I saw a printout of how potent my aura was, it reaffirmed my intuitive nudges and self-care practices.

It also reminded me how important it is to talk about these things that aren’t part of our Western ideas of physical and mental wellbeing.

What if there was a process to streamline the communication between our subconscious and conscious minds so as to bring dreams into reality?

What if our dreams, both waking and sleeping, are actually clues? The digestible metaphors for what we most desire?  Or struggle with?

In this episode I lead you through the correlation between all the meanings of the word dream as we know it and give you practical tools for the integration of your sleeping dreams into your waking self and vice versa.

I am not a traditional roses and heart-shaped chocolate box kind of gal.

They lack creativity and inspiration in my book.

And the law of supply and demand makes them ridiculously overpriced.

I would rather receive a bouquet of roses on a random day in mid-August.

This episode is chock full of ways that you can expand your creativity on the theme of Valentine’s Day.

From 60’s style “door curtains” that highlight the unique magic of each family member.

To seeing that self-care can be as simple and as powerful as love letters to ourselves (and the ways to remind ourselves of that love).

Recording those early words of self-love and family love from the mouths of our babes can serve them for years to come.  And be straight-up hilarious!

There are fun things to do with food that are simple and inexpensive yet extraordinary.  And may even expand your child’s adventure level with food, leading to a more nutrient rich palette.

There are easy art projects to integrate into your design to build confidence as well as art techniques that provide stress relief and focus no matter what you think of yourself as an artist.

The most important thing to remember when putting on your creative hat this Valentine’s Day is to have fun.  Love can be fun if we let it!

The shape I was in.

Depending on my mood, I can sit in accomplishments

Or defeats.

Some people are unquestionably “plant people.”

Others claim they don’t have a green thumb.

There are some powerful reasons that we all need to have more plants in our lives.

Even though it has been unseasonably warm here in Pennsylvania, the same “wintry issues” are cropping up. Dry air. Dry skin. The winter coughs and colds. Lethargy. Depression.

Having more plants in your home helps with ALL of these things.

In this episode of the In Her Eyes Podcast, I take you through 8 reasons why you NEED plants in your home.

When I started doing the research for this episode, I knew some of these. I was shocked to find how complete the science was behind the initial 5 reasons that I had outlined. But some of the other reasons were VERY exciting to discover!

And if you think you have tried adding plants to your home before and you just don’t have a green thumb, you definitely want to listen in. Not only do I give you tips on becoming a better plant mom (I had to learn through trial and error), I share with you the mental and physical costs of not flexing your green thumb.

There are some important questions to ask yourself if you think you can’t keep houseplants alive. And some potent reasons you should!

What is intuition?

Is there a way to enhance it?

Can we go beyond just “listening to our gut?’

My answer is YES WE CAN!

Intuition can be such a broad and elusive term.

In order to develop it, we must first understand it in all of its forms.

It shows up differently for each person.

Understanding your primary intuitive strength is the first step to enhancing your intuition.

The “clairs” are the sensory ways that we communicate with the unseen world.

In this episode of the In Her Eyes Podcast, I explain each of the “clairs.”

  • Clairvoyance- clear-seeing
  • Clairaudience- clear-hearing
  • Clairsentience- clear-feeling
  • Clairalience- clear-smelling
  • Clairgustance- clear-tasting
  • Claircognizance- clear-knowing

I walk you through how you might already be experiencing it in everyday life including the activities that you may be drawn to or have taken on as a profession.

I will also share with you the actions to take to fine-tune your innate clair.

Once you learn how to identify your clair from the routine chatter that you experience in your mind, you will be able to tap into it on a deeper level. And once we start owning our strengths, we begin to normalize our gifts and access our power.

If the definition of crazy is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results, then how do we break the cycle?

It’s why I have given up resolutions, and focus on the journey instead.

Etched in my memory is the scene in the movie, The Jerk, with Steve Martin where he is leaving home but procrastinates by needing to grab random things to take with him; including a random kitchen chair.

Whenever I am asking myself if something is truly important to keep, I wonder if it's just that chair: something I am choosing to hang on to to keep me in that holding pattern.

Circling above what I really want.

With it within sight but mysteriously unattainable.

Once you have committed to change, you have to commit to RELEASE.

To those of you who committed to “the Assignment” in episode 58.

I applaud you!

If you were like me and started out strong but fizzled out as things got busy, you may have realized as I did the lesson in that alone.

I let go of some hard stuff: physical objects, resentments, obligations, expectations, and more.

And I also slipped back into comfort patterns that weren’t necessarily aligned with the desired path forward.

This episode starts out differently than most. With the experience of physical release.

A fun exercise to remind you how good it feels to let go.

And that YOU are IN CHARGE of the process of Release.

Therein lies the power!

I am a believer in both science and magic.

The seen and the unseen.

The energetic nature of all things.

I know that I make better decisions when what I truly want is both in my sight-lines and top of mind.

I know that I can take actions that connect that which lies deep within my heart to what I experience in my reality.

I might not always be in control, but I am in charge.

I trust that I might not always know the best way.  And in that trust…

LIES THE MIRACULOUS.

In this episode, I revisit my 2022 Vision Board and share the miracles.

There is an Einstein Quote I love:

“There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle.”

I choose the latter.

This episode is one steeped in self-love and a deeper understanding of trusting that which we can’t see or don’t understand.

How deeply do you trust your intuition?
Do you allow it to be a guiding force?
Or is it more of an afterthought, followed by “I should have listened to my gut.”?

Oprah calls it: that still, small voice.

Did you know you could hire an intuition coach?

In this episode, I interview Amber Dolan-Bath, who is one!
And it was SUCH a fun conversation!

Amber is a professional intuition coach, a dream strategist, an intuitive, a wife, a mother of a 2-year-old little girl Lilith, and a Disney lover. With that comes being a BIG dreamer. She is also a coffee and sweets enthusiast.

If you are equally amazed and delighted by synchronicities and the Magic that the Universe provides when you simply trust, you will LOVE this episode.

Is there something you KNOW that you are afraid to say out loud?
To claim?
To ask for?

This episode will help you find the courage to do all of these things.

Amber walks you through a “Reconditioning Exercise” to help you break through money issues.

You can substitute anything else that keeps coming up; and holding you back from the things in life that you desire the most.

We answer the “Who Am I to deserve this?” question.

And a few other really powerful questions that you need to be asking yourself if your life feels out of alignment with your deepest desires.

Amber sits, unapologetically, in self-love. Something that I believe most of us need to learn.

This used to be a trigger for me. I have had to come face-to-face with the resentment within myself that sparked the judgement that prevented me from basking in the radiance of someone else’s truth.

Trust me, it feels so much better on this side of the journey!

You will learn:

  • How Walt Disney inspired Amber’s path
  • What it feels like to receive a Divine Download
  • How to cultivate a Soul-led guidance system
  • How to actively RECEIVE
  • The blueprint for Manifesting whatever is tugging at your heartstrings.

It’s that time of year again!

This guide is truly an over-achiever’s guide to choosing a Word of the Year.

In this episode, I guide you through:

Why uncover your "Word of the Year" for 2023?

New Year's Resolutions never worked for me.

If I decided I wanted to do something, why should I wait until January 1st to start?

And there is as much chatter about abandoning resolutions as there is about keeping them.

Over the years I have looked at them more as something to create a forcefield of false drama around than something that actually moves people in the direction they want to go.

Five years ago, I chose my first truly effective word of the year, in a process similar to the one I walk through in the podcast. Each year since I have fine-tuned the process. And truths that I have uncovered have been more influential and directional than I could have ever imagined when I sat down that first time with pencil and paper in hand.

The process, itself, taught me to ask for what I really wanted.

Not something I am good at.

I don't think many of us are. Self-sacrifice is the moral nutrition I was raised on.

While I believe, with all my being, that my purpose here is to be of service in a capacity that serves the highest good of all of humanity. I cannot do that without fully knowing myself and discovering my highest potential.

I have found so much information that I need to go forward in the process of discovering my word of the year.

I have found so much support and direction in having a word of the year.

Be sure to head over to the episode webpage to get your Word of the Year workbook for 2023 as well as see the vision board that I created for 2022 that served as a constant visual reminder of last year’s word of the year:

Are you thinking of hiring a coach?

Maybe a Nutrition Coach
Or a Business Coach
Or a Life Coach
Or a Coaching Community

Maybe you think you can’t afford a coach.
What other resources are available to help you get to where you want to be in 2023?

In this episode, I dive into the questions that come up when thinking about hiring a coach.

Whether it is a life coach, nutrition coach, business coach, wealth coach, stylist, etc.

I answer the 5 biggest questions about coaching:

  • What is coaching?
  • How is it different than therapy (or having a mentor)?
  • What kind of people have a coach?
  • How do you determine what kind of coach you need?
  • How do you determine what to invest in a coach or coaching program?

There are 6 important questions that you need to spend some time with if you are considering hiring a coach or joining a program.  Even if the program you are considering isn’t a lot of money necessarily, it might not be wise to join if you haven’t done the background work.  Your time, your creative energy and your mental energy are equally valuable resources.

Truth is something that we say we want. Until it makes us uncomfortable. Or those around us uncomfortable.

When I first decided that I needed to move away from my full-time job, I had some hard decisions to make. Despite the fact that I loved some of the things I was able to access and create in that position, there was no avenue for growth.

I had to lean into the faith that I would find the support I needed to launch my own business.

I always saw it as something different than a traditional interior design business.

I had become accustomed to helping people that wouldn’t necessarily be hiring an Interior Designer or Decorator to help them create the vision that they had for their home. I knew that I could use technology to reach more people and help them create spaces that inspired them without breaking the bank. When I took the leap, I only had a fuzzy image of what that might look like.

And as the Universe always does when you allow it to, it brought me the perfect mentor to move toward a life of “health, wealth, and joy” as my guest’s program promised.

Business coach, Tobi Fairley is an unapologetic truth-teller. She believes in living a life aligned with who she is at her core. She transitioned from one of full-service Interior Design to a Business Coach for designers and creatives like myself. She has always been a visionary. Bolding embracing life has kept her at the forefront of both the Design Industry and the rapidly evolving use of technology to do more with her expansive skillset.

Tobi Fairley is an innovation igniter, thought architect, and one of the leading voices on reimagining what it means to run a successful, creative business in an equitable and sustainable way...

To read her extensive bio: visit the episode shownotes at: Podcast Webpage

We follow the evolution of her personal business path full of gold nuggets of wisdom. She drops some serious truth bombs along the way. She reveals the moments that led to important mindset shifts that forged the path to who she has become as she creates opportunities for other creatives as she visions forward.

You will be inspired (and maybe get a little teary as I did) when she shared how she faced the hard truths about herself in the process of supporting her daughter through the evil waters of Middle School and mean girls. It’s a gut punch of self-loathing transformed into self-love.

  • In this episode you will learn:
  • Why the broken business model had to be drawn for a young businesswoman to create a successful life beyond the “business.”
  • The strengths we have as women + creatives that aren’t part of that original success blueprint.
  • The fallout of following the wrong blueprint for success.
  • The mindset shifts helped Tobi transform her personal success blueprint.
  • The critical things her daughter taught her about herself How the difficulties that she was helping her daughter through prepared her to use her voice in a way that aligned with her personal values.
  • What walking the walk REALLY means and what that looks like as a creative business owner

We laughed. We got teary-eyed. We found power on the other side of this brutally honest conversation.

I wish everyone could have seen the light in Tobi’s face as she saw her current self through the eyes of 8-year-old Tobi.

A magical moment of what it looks like when you are living a life aligned with your truth.

It is a wish I have for everyone, especially the extraordinary hearts that listen to this podcast.

gratitude is going to be showing up all over the internet today

But gratitude isn’t just something to express one day a year.

If you are like me, you likely find yourself focusing on the next few weeks ahead and ALL that you need to get done.

In this week’s episode, I provide you with a meditation to help you reconnect to the present moment and find joy in all you are + have ever experienced.

Advertisements for Advent calendars are popping up all over the place.

The one that inspired this episode was from a promotional email for a “wine advent box.”

My first thought when I saw it was, “ I would never get everything done that I want to do before everyone shows up for Christmas.”

Which made me ask myself, how do I want to prepare for the Holidays as well as the year ahead?

“Successful people ask better questions, and as a result, they get better answers.”

-Tony Robbins

You would never plant a flower that needs lots of light under a bush.

Yet our hopes and dreams for the future are often buried in the stories, longings, and disappointments of our past.

Afraid we will offend someone.

Disappoint someone.

Let someone down.

This episode gives you an alternative to the traditional “Advent Calendar” with a result at the end. In the process you will learn how to ask the questions to reveal the reason that you hang on to things (and thoughts) when they no longer serve your best version of who you want to be:

I will take you through the Assignment of how to select and evaluate something each day to let go of.

  • How to catalog its value
  • Recognize the strings attached
  • Dig deep into the understanding of what it means
  • How to find something for each day
  • Ideas on where things can go other than the thrift store or the trash
  • Why cleaning out makes room for more than just material goods

I tell the story of what it meant to let go of a pair of shoes that reminded me of a friend I lost recently. I learned more from the letting go, than the hanging on.

I hope you find the same clarity that I found. Share your a-ha moments in the forum or shoot me a DM if it's something too personal to share with the world yet.

In my many years in sales, I remember the Mantra "The fortune is in the follow-up" playing in the back of my head.

That motto applies to so many areas of our lives.

The Universe has a way of circling us back around to the things etched in our hearts.

Those heartstopping ideas that often feel too fragile to bring out into the open.

In this week's episode, I guide you through 4 important questions to ask yourself to keep you on track with that COO vision for your life that we created a few short weeks ago.

We are about to go into the hectic holidays.  The social conscripts tied to these traditions don't align with the natural tendencies of our bodies during this season.

Evaluating what's truly important is critical.

Staying true to YOURSELF is the key to creating a life aligned with your heart.  That's why checking back in with your own truth is so important right now.

If you go through each of these questions with a sense of honesty and determination in your heart, you will eliminate the frustration of repeating the patterns of the past.

How often do you argue with someone over their incorrect view of reality?

What if differing points of view aren't actually thoughts but the way individuals experience the world?

We have a built-in mechanism that keeps us locked in specific thought patterns that resist change.

Even when we really crave that change.

It is called our Reticular Activating System.

It is located in our brainstem.

One of the most primitive parts of our brains.

It controls many things you would think of as instinctual, like sleeping and sensing danger.

It is a memory system within our nervous system that instantly triggers responses.

Both physical (like our eyes flying wide open when we hear a strange sound in our sleep) and emotional (like squealing and leaping and our heart racing when we see a snake.)

In this episode, I share with you the biology behind why you experience the world as you do.

Understanding is the shortest path to overcoming.

I explain how it works.

And what you can do to make it work better.

And why just knowing these two things can help you live a life filled with more compassion, peace, and joy!

If we are talking about the energetic presence within your home, at some point, we have to talk about GHOSTS!

Do you believe in Ghosts?

In my experience, ghosts have provided comic relief, a place to shift blame, and even some comfort.

I have been pretty fortunate.

They also have provided some invaluable lessons about energy.

I know that my Enneagram 7 tendency to see the humor and joy in things can get annoying.  Especially when those around me want to feel bad.

Or dramatic.

Or play the victim.

Maybe hauntings should be taken seriously.

Or maybe they are a grand cosmic joke of this we call life.

Whether you are a believer or not, I think you will enjoy this slightly spooky episode.

I introduce you to the ghosts I (and those close to me) have crossed paths with.

So break out your sage.

Or not.  (You may have friendly ghosts!)

And travel with me through the Haunted Mansions of my life.

Have you ever thought: "If only I could clone myself"?

I certainly have.

In virtually every area of my life.

It seems fitting that 38 years since my 11th-grade science project mapped the process of cloning and genetic engineering, I would use that same knowledge in a podcast about how you can streamline your own effectiveness in all the areas of your life.

And even more, ironically, I left my full-time job in a laboratory that cloned individual genes and proteins to study their roles in different biological processes to get to this place where I would be recording this podcast.

A business is only as successful as it is efficient.

And that requires a great COO.

Chief Operating Officer

The person who manages all the things.

We can all harness the qualities of that ideal COO candidate to create more joy (success) in our homes and lives.

Living the life you dream of is closer than you realize when you start fine-tuning what IS instead of focusing on what ISN'T.

In this episode, I:

  • Discuss the ideal qualities of a great COO and how we tap into our own unique skills to live with a greater sense of peace and control.
  • I take you through an exercise that helps you evaluate processes and alleviate frustration.
  • Show you that you already met the requirements of that position just by shifting perspective.
  • And provide you with the tools to step into this empowered position in your own life.

You've been promoted! You deserve it!

Are your own stories holding you back?

We all have stories.

We are a species of stories. It's how we bond.

They define us individually, locally, regionally, ethnically, culturally, socially, and nationally.

We can tell our most remarkable stories in our sleep. (Or heavily intoxicated. Those stories can go viral. 😉)

Have you ever stopped to think about which parts of your stories you might be emphasizing and how that may affect your personal growth? Your stuckness. Your tendency to repeat the same patterns.

➡ Are you dwelling on the victim or the victor?

➡ The mayhem or the magic?

➡ The disaster or the Divine?

As humans, we have a natural propensity to bonding over our struggles and our tragedies.

And what about those unconscious stories, the ones engraved in our persona that we fail to question their truth? They have been with us for as long as we remember. Those stories are the ones that can create the bars on the cages of our self-sabotage and struggle.

They usually start with the words: I am or I have.

Those are the dangerous stories.

It takes courage to look at them. It takes even more courage to rewrite them or (gulp) let them go altogether.

In this episode, I guide you through the process of:

  • Discovering your unconscious stories.
  • Evaluating their origins and their place in who you want to become.
  • Finding the highlight moments of Divine Guidance interwoven in the low lights that we cling to.
  • Hovering above to shift perspective.
  • Unlocking the power of the rewrite and/or letting go altogether.

Have you ever seen an opportunity in front of you but been afraid to take a leap because of one (or MORE) of the following?

  • Your current circumstances?
  • How you define yourself?
  • How others define you?
  • The stories you tell yourself?

If any of these items tickle a nerve, then this episode is for you.

My guest, Erin Kraebber, recently stepped out of a high-level collegiate marketing position and into the life of a small business owner.

Erin knows what it feels like to be stretched thin. She sculpted a successful 15+ year career in collegiate athletics marketing while raising little people who place many demands on her time and energy.

She is a wife, mother to two daughters, small business owner, Enneagram 1, avid sports fan, and host of the Motherhood Merged Podcast. Originally from Wisconsin, she now resides with her family in Birmingham, Alabama.

In 2022, she decided to make a transition from the corporate ladder to entrepreneurship. She is now the owner of Forté Dance Essentials, a brick-and-mortar dancewear boutique where she serves dancers of all ages.

In addition to her retail space, Erin also works as a marketing strategist. She teaches systems that allow business owners and industry-leading women to tell their unique stories, reach more customers, and grow revenues. Her goal is to solve the problems that empower women to feel satisfied with their contributions in their careers and at home.

What we dive into:

  • The path that led her to this new venture.
  • How Erin’s husband and daughters play roles in the new family business.
  • The individual personality differences that shape the unique contributions her daughters make to the retail space.
  • What Erin had to let go of to seed the success of her store.
  • The ways her past experience prepared her for this new phase.

The theme of season 3 is TRANSFORMATION. And where better to start than the reinvention of yourself?

If you are feeling the nudge to shift course, this episode is definitely for you!

Voltaire said it first. At least as far as I can tell.

In the early 1700s, the philosopher popularized the phrase:

“The perfect is the enemy of the good.”

-Voltaire

Sometimes, being described as a perfectionist can feel like a compliment.

Don’t we all want to work with people, hire people, that take extraordinary pride in the work that they produce?

In this episode, we dive into perfectionism and how to evaluate your own actions in relation to it.

  • What’s the difference between being a perfectionist and being highly skilled at your craft?
  • How do you reach a level of mastery without being bogged down by perfectionism?
  • How does perfectionism deflate passion and creativity?
  • What role does judgment play in perfectionism?
  • Does fear of criticism keep you from taking action?
  • Can you let go of your criticism of others in order to see yourself in a way that allows for more expansive growth and creativity?
  • How does perfectionism prevent you from pursuing new interests?
  • What role does integrity play in the conversation about perfectionism?

It took a lesson in Astrology (a seemingly unlikely place to begin) that gave me a better understanding my own perfectionist tendencies: good and bad, to begin the deep work and find the answers that I need to move in the direction my heart is pulling me.

I hope this episode provides you with points to ponder to make your own journey toward your highest self more clear.

Break out the confetti!

It’s the one-year anniversary of the In Her Eyes podcast!

It has been a wild ride!

This week’s episode recaps the important lessons and insights that have come from a year of doing something that seemed barely conceivable when I set out on this journey.

I tell the story of how the podcast came into being.

I share with you the most popular episode, which is also the most common cause of frustration when people are starting (or not starting) projects. Did you guess it?

The valuable gems of wisdom that transformed the way I think about the way I live and support my family form guests, Lea Pickard and Roxanne Foura.

Through the course of the year, as I followed the guidance and wisdom in my path, along the hills and valleys of self-discovery. I developed a deeper sense of understanding of what my innate gifts are and how I can use them to help others. I learned to connect with myself using the extraordinary power of my own breath, allowing room for self-discovery. I did the hard work of looking at where I was selling myself short by not setting firm boundaries. And not truly embracing what I most desired. I had conversations with extraordinary women: Elisha Halpin, Ingunn Ytterhus, Nancy Levin, and Amy Neil.

An empowering new perspective on abundance (and money) was born as I chatted with the extraordinary Money Consciousness Coach, Jessica Marie.

We stepped into the power of working within our Human Design, our cravings, and the cyclical nature of creation with these beautiful souls: Emma Jensen, Annie Wagoner, and Lauren Roberts.

And through it all, our ability to design spaces that meet us where we are and propel us toward where we want to go. We were joined by insightful designers Jessica Velazquez and Heather Rabold-Hill.

What does living within your authenticity look like? What would embracing it and live from it look like?

Are there certain places or areas of your life where you feel more like your “True Self”? Or are how she become misplaced?

As a reforming people pleaser, I could identify with Camilla Cream and her “Bad Case of the Stripes” by David Shannon

When you purchase a piece of art or a historical document, you often receive a Certificate of Authenticity. What would your Certificate of Authenticity look like?

What would happen if you wrote your Certificate of Authenticity across your heart and moved and lived life by staying true to that document?

It sounds exciting and clarifying in the quiet moments when we are alone with ourselves. It’s not as easy in the different circles that we navigate life in.

In this episode, I take you through the moments in life when our authenticity is eroded. Not intentionally or with malice by others that want the best of us. Or from those that feel threatened by our light and joy. Through social pressure and conforming and fear of judgement, we question our uniqueness or inherent values.

Often (like Camilla Cream) we change to disguise our uniqueness without recognizing the true consequences of our actions.

This episode was designed to help you re-write your Certificate of Authenticity.

You will learn how to investigate the evidence of abandoned authenticity. And how to rediscover your magic. And how to support the girls and women in your life to write their own authenticity on their hearts!

We have all heard the reports of how important a good night’s sleep is.

Poor sleep leads to a plethora of conditions that haunt us in our waking hours; affecting everything from weight gain, to chronic pain, to mental fog, and the list goes on.

For many of us, it seems like something that we have little to no control over.

If you were to chat with a feng shui expert, you would get several insights into changes you could make.

A neuroscientist would have some suggestions as well.

As would an herbalist/naturopath.

A meditation expert offers up a different set of suggestions.

As a holistic and intuitive designer, I like to uncover all of a client’s challenges to make sure that the design that we are co-creating serves them on the deepest level.

And in the bedroom, we want to create an environment that is restful and conducive to sleep as possible.

We have come to believe that there is something wrong with us if we have trouble sleeping.

But there are small habitual changes and some design decisions that we can make that may seem silly but actually make a big difference.

In this episode, I help you look at 7 changes that you can make to begin to improve both the quality and quantity of your sleep. Most of these changes are very simple and easy to “stack.” If you have been around a while, you know that I am a huge fan of James Clear and his book Atomic Habits.

It’s easy to say, “I don’t sleep well.” When you say that, you become that person. But when you begin to shift your mindset toward better sleep and commit to taking steps toward that, you will begin to feel better in every area of your life. Instead say, “I provide myself (my family) with a restful environment.”

Start by taking one small step, and then allow the habits to stack until you become a person who gets enough quality sleep to THRIVE!

I have been intrigued by the concept of Chakras since I first heard of them 20+ years ago when I began practicing some DIY Kundalini yoga postures.

I think the fact that they each had a relationship with their own color is what intrigued me the most.

In the beginning, I thought of them as imaginary energy pockets because nothing I had ever been taught in my years of scientific training matched this concept. I know that the body works in ways that we have yet to fully comprehend. And focusing on the different Chakras in my practice through the guidance that I was provided felt good, even if I didn’t fully understand the principles behind them.

For many years, I left it as that.

Working with and understanding color is a natural part of both who I am and what I do. It wasn’t until recently that I realized that I was also tapping into my intuitive nudges when working with clients and color. Thanks to some extraordinary coaches and soul-sister companions that I have met in the last 2 years, I have been able to see the work that I do in a different way.

In reading Alberto Villalldo’s book, THE WISDOM WHEEL, I found the connections I have been seeking between my years of scientific training, my passion for color as a force, and my desire to help others feel at home in themselves and their spaces.

This magical phrase was a revelation:

“The 7 Chakra system corresponds to our physiology and coincides with the 7 major endocrine glands + nerve plexus in the body.”

-Alberto Villoldo

I explain the concept in depth in the episode.

It is fascinating to me that the concept of these energy centers has existed throughout human history in diverse cultures that had no contact with each other. Leave it to a stubborn, Medical Anthropologist to weave the connections into something we Westerners can comprehend!

Tapping into this knowledge can provide insight into information that extends beyond your physical self and into everything around you.

Be sure to stay to the end where I teach you a powerful CHAKRA CLEARING exercise that you can do whenever you need to step back into HARMONY. The exercise begins at the 39-minute mark if you want to bookmark it for later reference.

As an interior designer, nearly every conversation that starts a new project either begins with a series of excuses (why things are the way they are) or the realization that the clients just can’t stay in the state they have been and need help getting to where they want to go.

It takes a bit of self-actualization to realize that you need outside help to get to your desired goal.

That is true in design as it is in virtually every other part of life.

That doesn’t mean that help has to be professional.

It doesn’t even mean it has to be a person.

Shifting how you are thinking about any situation is the ONLY path forward.

“If you correct your mind, the rest of your life will fall into place.”

-Lao-tzu

It was an act of trusting Divine guidance that brought Dr. Wayne Dyer into my life in the first place. If you are a fan of his like I am, you know the power of his words as well as the power of the thought behind them. The book, Excuses Begone!

In this episode, I use the inspiration of this book as a springboard for this deeper understanding of excuses and they affect us far more than we realize.

We journey through the 7 principles you need to master to move into an “excuse-less” way of living. Those principles are:

  1. Awareness
  2. Alignment
  3. Now
  4. Contemplation
  5. Willingness
  6. Passion
  7. Compassion

I provide you with a formula for incorporating these principles as well as mantras you can use daily to shift the control of your life from your subconscious into your consciousness.

Using Dr. Dyer’s guidance system, we can practice these principles by starting small and allowing them to filter into our conscious (or waking) minds. Soon, they become the natural framework for working through much bigger tasks, dreams, and ideas.

Be sure to stay to the end where I share with you the moment that these 7 principles showed up in real form as I was making the last notes on this podcast!

Do you wish there was a fabric that met your busy family’s exact needs?

Maybe there is … but no one took the time to explain it to you!

I have found that very few furniture salespeople understand the difference in fabric constructions. And even fewer take the time to explain them in a way that helps you come to an informed buying decision. It can lead to future frustration and regret.

The words “performance fabric” get thrown around a lot. But what do they really mean?

That is the very reason I am so excited to have Fabric Expert Extraordinaire, Heather Raibold-Hill as a guest on the In Her Eyes podcast.

The right fabrics can transform the way you get to live in your home!

Matching your fabric needs to your family’s needs and your personal design aesthetic is the secret to creating a lovable and liveable home that stands the test of time!

How things look is only half of the design puzzle.

The secret to creating a home that you love is making informed choices. Determining what serves your needs, and the needs of your family in each individual space.

Heather Rabold-Hill has been in the design industry for nearly 3 decades. With a background in History, she is both an educator and a storyteller in the way she weaves fabric choices into her work. With extensive experience in fabric workrooms, at both Calico Corners and the luxury home furnishings store, Sheffield’s; Heather learned firsthand how different fabrics work in different applications. As a representative for a variety of designer exclusive fabric and wallpaper suppliers, Heather is passionate about educating her customers so they can stay at the forefront of product technology to make the best possible choices for their design clients. She is currently a regional sales rep for Stout Fabric a 4th generation fabric supplier in Pennsylvania.

In this episode, we explain

  • exactly what it means when a fabric is called a Performance fabric.
  • How they have evolved through the years
  • Which ones should be used for which situation
  • Each of the different types and the process involved in creating them
  • And THE EXCITING NEW FABRICS ON THE HORIZON!

Fabric is the one of the best examples of the phrase, “Necessity is the Mother of Invention.”

And on the subject of motherhood, Heather talks about the influence that being in the design industry had on her 2 amazing (and amazingly different) daughters. Including the lessons and gifts that they will take with them into adulthood.

Great design means there is a place for everything, and everything in it’s place. And there is a perfect fabric to create the look and feel you desire to create. It’s just getting the facts straight!

Get a glimpse behind the scenes of what goes into a beautifully designed space!

Instead of talking about dieting and exercise as the path to our best selves, what if we talked about what lights us up?

We know that we should be doing things that are good for us. But with so many “experts” out there, who really knows what is right for you, my uniquely beautiful and magical friend?

What if we are already receiving clues to what nourishes us and are either too busy (or too self-critical) to listen?

Nourishment is something that we don’t talk about enough.

When it comes to food, exercise, or even self-care; we talk about what we should do.

Or shouldn’t do.

But very seldom do we talk about it in the context of what truly lights us up.

And how to live in healthy alignment with the concept of nourishment.

My guest on Episode 43 of the In Her Eyes Podcast is an expert at that.

In so many ways.

Annie Wagoner is a mom of 2 amazing kids, military spouse, compassionate listener, former perfectionist, recovering sugar addict, outdoor enthusiast, and athlete. She is also a certified holistic health coach, certified personal trainer, yoga teacher, and healer in the Seacoast area and beyond, specializing in women’s wellness. Founder of and podcaster for Core Nourishment, and creator of the Wellness Portal for Women, Annie loves holding space for and witnessing the “aha” moments as individuals navigate their own journeys, explore and discover more self-confidence and love for themselves (from the inside-out), their community, nature and life. She is deeply passionate about educating and empowering others to make positive lifestyle choices so that they can fuel their bodies, work, relationships, passions and dreams. Annie aims to guide women to reach their highest potential, and creates action plans for her clients, ultimately guiding them to empowerment, radiance, and core aliveness.

Annie is compassionate, attentive, gentle yet also fierce… in her workouts and in her belief that every single human and their bodies ARE magnificent and wired to heal. She guides her clients (in-person and virtually) to break through false stories, old negative patterns, confusion, and to learn to listen, trust (their bodies), and come back home to themselves and their health.

Join us as we explore this new angle on “consumption.

There were so many golden nuggets in this episode that are easy to incorporate into your daily life.

You will love Annie’s tutorial on how to shift into present moment awareness to live with more joy no matter what you are doing.

What you will discover in this episode:

  • How to avoid guilt when it comes to eating or exercising
  • What happens biochemically when you are acting in guilt or stress mode
  • How to tune into your body
  • The value of cravings
  • How to involve your children in the practice of nourishment
  • Why present moment awareness is so important

This was such a beautiful conversation.

And one we ALL deserve!

Do you have conversations with yourself standing in front of the pantry, trying to talk yourself out of (or into) eating something?

Or do you wonder if something you are taking as a supplement is the best option for you?

Or are you taking the right amount?

Most of us live our life in ever-present sensory overload.

It is hard to trust our own intuitive nudges.

In fact, we have been taught to do just the opposite. We are constantly being bombarded with information that we need something more than we constantly have. Something that someone else wants to sell us.

Or so it seems.

In today's episode, I have a fun way (really 2 different ways) to "test" the things you are wondering about.

You can take this episode lightly and really have fun testing out some different things. Or you can find some real answers to things that you might have rattling around that you wish you had direction on.

I learned these methods through a training that I did with the incomparable Energy Healer, Donna Eden.

Energy (or strength) testing is common in the naturopath industry. It's a fun practice to learn to circumvent any intuitive hits that you might be having about something you are putting in (or on) your body. Even if this "isn't your thing", it's a good way to remember to take a pause and move into the present moment in whatever you are doing!

Nothing that I talk about should be done in lieu of a doctor's advice if you are addressing a medical condition.

No matter what your thoughts are, this is just plain fun to do!

If you have questions about how to do this, go to the episode webpage for more information:

As we near the mid-point of the year, I want to ask you a question?

How are you doing on those New Year's Resolutions?

Do you even remember yours?

Are you on track?

This episode is for those of us (me included) who struggle to stay on track with our yearly resolutions.

Transforming your "goal" into an intention can be more than just semantics.  It can be a powerful shift if you are doing it within a format that has chronological, even undulating, structure.

This New Moon that occurs on Monday, May 30th is the PERFECT opportunity to either get back on track or take action on something that has been needling around in your mind.

Maybe it's an idea that's been patiently waiting below ground, ready to burst forth in the warmed spring soil.

Or maybe it's YOU that is ready to move up through the seclusion of winter and blossom into the golden sunbeams!

It is your time, my friend!

Listen as I take you through this new course of action.

To begin, it is important to understand the difference between IN-TENTION and AT-TENTION.

In this episode, I explain why that is as well as the reason that THIS is the PERFECT time to get started.

What do you REALLY want?

I have been asking that on a deep and introspective level this past week.

Peeling back layers.

Dissecting what's true for me versus what has come from the expectations and all of the "shoulds."

Maybe it was the Full Lunar Eclipse.  Maybe it was just time.

But once I began to distill down to the core, I recognized that the knowing was only half the battle.

-To stay true to myself and what I want and truly believe in;

-To live at that level of integrity to accomplish what I want to accomplish;

-To allow me to dream beyond what I see, what I currently know, and where my heart wants to go;

require a shift in both my doing and my thinking.

In this episode, I lead you through 6 exercises (aka journal topics) to help you journey through those layers and create an actionable plan.

A PLAN that honors YOU.

If you are listening on the go and want to find each prompt, you can find them at these time stamps:

[9:55] Prompt 1

[22:20] Prompt 2

[30:09] Prompt 3

[36:06] Prompt 4

[42:55] Prompt 5 + 6

Over the past 2 years, we have seen a drastic shift in how people work. The increase in people working from home has caused the interior design industry to flourish. Today we dive deeper into this phenomenon. It's not just the physical location, but how we see ourselves in relationship to our jobs or the work that we do in the world that we address.

Originally, I invited today's guest, Lauren Roberts, onto the podcast to discuss the roles that Lunar and Seasonal Cycles play in our lives. By understanding the effects that they have on our emotional well-being, we can be kinder to ourselves and work within the influences. I hadn't really thought about it in terms of how we approach work. Yet for the majority of time we are on Earth, we are working (or thinking about work!)

Whether we are taking care of others or showing up at a corporate job or trying to support ourselves (and our families) by running our own businesses; we spend much of our lives in the act of DOING in order to PROVIDE.

Our actions become the currency of our worth.

I love the direction that this conversation took. It is a beautiful shift in perspective. One that I found highly valuable and I hope YOU do as well!

Why this episode is so juicy:

Lauren is multi-passionate and finds it hard to fit what she does in one sentence, but in essence, she helps people find ways of working that enable them to feel aligned and purposeful - tuning into their core values, their energy type, and personality to work in flow, bringing fun and flexibility into the working week! She has a degree in Psychology, is a trained ICF coach, reiki practitioner, Astrologist, guide, and mentor, and with 15 years of corporate marketing experience.

In this episode, you will learn:

  • Why we need to change the way we work
  • How to step out of the cycles of burnout
  • How to integrate all that we are into our work
  • How we can help our children redefine the way they see work
  • The importance of the working environment
  • How core values differ from beliefs
  • The tools you can use to start working WITH your gifts rather than thinking you need to do something a certain way

To find out more, discover the ways to connect with Lauren, and access the free tools that she mentions in the episode.

It's frustrating when the time has come to make some changes and you and your spouse or child don't see eye to eye on the details.

In this episode, I walk you through the way to move beyond heated opinions and land on a plan that brings you closer together instead of in a power struggle or a whirlpool of indecision and hurt feelings.

Change can be hard for some people.  Planning ahead can be hard for some people.  Winging it can be hard for some people.

But understanding each other's deepest needs can provide clarity forward.

I give you the direction you need to move toward that clarity.

It's natural to get the itch to spring clean.

That nesting instinct comes with the seasons and the sense of renewal that we are experiencing right now.

By tuning INTO nature, we can uncover a way to convert "spring cleaning" into a "spring renewal" for our homes.

There are so many reasons to give your home a good refresh this time of year.

As this episode falls in the same week as Earth Day, I wanted to help you not only eliminate the drudgery and overwhelm but to also give you a crash course in detoxifying your spaces.

Your home + YOUR BODY will thank you!

Finding great products that do a great job cleaning can be time-consuming (AS WELL AS MISLEADING!)

I pull back the curtain on the ways that you could be tricked into buying things that only appear to be healthier.

And give you the tools to give your home that refresh that it needs by eliminating harmful toxins that cause hormone function disruption, headaches, skin problems, chronic lung issues, anxiety, AND MORE!

You will want to save this episode to come back to.

As you start to eliminate the culprits to your (and your family's) discomfort, you will naturally become more aware of the toxins in your environment. This desensitization process is one of the best gifts you can give yourself and your family.

I believe that our homes should be sacred retreats where we feel safest to be our truest selves.

Now don't get me wrong.

Attending a meditation retreat is currently at the top of my bucket list. A luxury that I have yet to afford myself. (But will!)

When we approach our homes with the intent of living with ease, beauty, and authenticity; we can feel ourselves growing toward that truth.

But sometimes, knowing what it is that we really desire -at our core- requires diving deeper. And in this episode of the In Her Eyes Podcast, we discuss how you can do that!

Over the years of being who others have wanted or expected us to be, our bodies become the storehouses for the parts of us that don't get to see much light. As time passes, we forget the way back down those dimly lit corridors that house the magical bits of us that we were too afraid to show to the rest of the world.

Our energy becomes stagnant. They crop up in our lives as destructive patterns that repeat themselves, feelings of disconnect and lack of fulfillment, and even chronic disease.

But just like a spring breeze stirring up the ravages of winter and making way for new growth to emerge, so can our own breath.

Breath can be calming and nourishing.

But it can also be fierce, rejuvenating, and electrifying!

Sweeping out the cobwebs.

Washing away long established patterns of doubt and self-destruction.

And with a little trust and a great facilitator, your breath can blast through those stagnant spaces and re-acquaint you with the answers that you might be seeking. You can think of it as the best kind of Spring Cleaning!

My guest today is exactly that!

INGUNN YTTERHUS is a breathwork facilitator, somatic healing advocate, and an Embodiment mentor deeply passionate about the power of our own bodies and breath, the duality between our archetypal energies; the soft fierce feminine and the safe igniting masculine, and the divine wisdom and power that's available to us all when we allow ourselves to remember who we REALLY are.

In this episode you will learn:

  • The power of committing to a practice.
  • What 7 minutes a day can unlock.
  • How to reignite your own creativity.
  • How to clear the negativity that you might not even realize you are experiencing.
  • How to document + view your progress.
  • How to unlock a new level of manifestation.
  • Ingunn's beautiful story of transforming heartbreak into her life's passion + work.

Do the spaces in your home feel choppy and disconnected?

Or does it flow?

What does that even mean?

Flow means something different in nearly every branch of science. And Merriam-Webster has 13 definitions of flow just as its basic use in our daily language. It is no wonder it's hard to pin down exactly what you can do to create a sense of flow and harmony within your home.

Whether we are talking about creating a color palette or joining different objects and design styles, we can look to nature and the many definitions of the word flow for clues.

In this episode, I provide you with the design guidance you need to bring that much-coveted concept into your home.

I teach you how to use your body as a diagnostic tool for your space.

You will also learn what sightlines are and how to strategically blend areas.

If there are colors that you love and you just don't know how (or where) to introduce them into your design scheme, I will give you the design advice that you have been looking for to help you incorporate them so they feel effortless.

A space that flows creates a sense of safety and allows your body to slip into a more relaxed state.

In this episode you will learn:

  • the most common mistake people make in design that inhibits flow.
  • the method for using your body to tap into your intuition to uncover the disconnection in your space
  • the easiest ways to create flow that cost no money
  • the ways to incorporate the colors that have healing powers that we learned about in the last 3 episodes

You may have heard of COLOR PSYCHOLOGY, but we are going MUCH deeper!

In Part 2 of this three-part series, you will learn how to tap into the energetic power of 6 colors to unlock the secrets that they hold.

You will learn how to use (or lose!) colors that will affect both how you feel about your home

AND

how to feel better in it!

For as long as I can remember, I have had an intense relationship with color. I have very strong, full body reactions to color.

I am hypersensitive to color.

We have been conditioned to think that is a BAD thing.

BUT IT IS NOT!

During my time away from the podcast, one of the things that I did was become laser-focused on healing a malady in my hand that I have been struggling with for nearly 10 years. In that process, I stumbled upon the brilliant work ofInna Segal. She uses (and teaches!) color as a tool for physical healing.

For all of the years that I have been working in the Home Decor and Design Industry, I have had the pleasure of clients sharing with me how much physically better they felt after making the color changes that I had suggested. I have a drawer full of beautiful letters that I treasure. I know that this extreme way that I see and feel color is a gift. One that I love sharing.

But in Inna Segal's The Secret Language of the Body, I found a written account of what I have always felt but had no words for. I don't know of anything that has ever resonated more!

I dove in headfirst. And share what I have uncovered in this series of 3 episodes!

Building on what we worked on last week, I talk about why you don't want to over use the color gray and other various colors that can have an immediate impact in your space.

This episode unlocks the magic of:

GRAY

INDIGO

MAGENTA

CORAL

LILAC (mauve/lavender)

AND RUBY (red)

As I walk you through the value of each color in a room design, I also teach you how to recognize if it is something you need more of to pull your space together. Or might need LESS of depending on the emotional responses that it causes.

BEGIN YOUR JOURNEY INTO A DEEPER UNDERSTANDING OF COLOR HERE.

What you will learn:

  • the specific emotional traits of each of the 6 colors discussed
  • examples of ways to use them
  • why they are important to the overall design of a space
  • what it might mean when a color "triggers" you or you have an aversion to it
  • how adding different colors can balance the energetic flow within and between different chakras
  • how to detect when you have too much of a color even if it is a color that you love!

We are about to embark on a color journey that is designed to help you thrive in your home.

Whether you are suffering from any physical or emotional ailments or you just want to feel your best in your home, THIS EPISODE IS FOR YOU!

Although we think of colors as static, they are actually wavelengths of light. In order to see them, our eyes (which are part of our neurological system) use electrochemical reactions to send the information to your brain to tell you what color something is. It only makes sense that can cause a physiological response in your body.

And research has shown that different colors affect different systems in your body triggering different emotions or feelings.

In Part 1 of this three-part series, you will learn how to tap into the energetic power of each individual color to make it work for you.

You will learn how to use (or lose!) colors that will affect both how you feel about your home

AND

how to feel better in it!

For as long as I can remember, I have had an intense relationship with color. I have very strong, full body reactions to color.

I dove in head first. And share what I have uncovered in this and the next 2 episodes!

As I began studying this work, I began to see the parallels to what I naturally feel as I work on spaces with clients. And I recognized how powerful it could be if we ALL understood it!

Over the next 3 episodes, I will work through the various colors that I feel will have the most impact by understanding and strategically utilizing.

This episode starts with the most basic colors in Design.

BLACK

BLUE

BROWN (including wood)

GOLD

AND GREEN

As I walk you through the value of each color in a room design, I also teach you how to recognize if it is something you need more of to pull your space together. Or might need LESS of depending on the emotional responses that it causes.

How often do you avoid doing something- even something that you want to do- because it feels overwhelming?

If you have ever found yourself saying, "I would love to ___________________, but I don't even know where to start!"  This episode is for you!

Perfectionism can creep in and derail your progress.

Or judgment-from others or yourself.

Or a sense of lack.

Any of these things can slide in and prevent you from moving forward if you don't have a strategy that your heart and mind have a connection to.

In this episode, I provide you with practical tools to move through the OVERWHELM that often comes with a new project or great idea.

What is your relationship with MONEY?

Or is it something that you try not to think about?

Just cross your fingers and hope it's there?

How do you talk to yourself about money?

Do you avoid debt at all costs, even when it means letting opportunities pass you by?

Or is it a weight that feels ever-present? An embarrassment that feels you with shame and regret?

Money is a quintessential piece of the design process. Even if you are the scrappy, DIY type- you still need money to make things happen.

My guest, Jessica Marie, has an empowering approach to the conversation about money. She is a financial empowerment coach. She has spent her adult life re-writing her own personal money story and there is a lot to learn from her narrative!

Her "Don't Back Down" attitude yields a wellspring of wisdom despite her humble beginnings.

Jessica Marie has experienced much adversity during her lifetime and has overcome many difficult challenges. She considers herself a work in progress, but also, part of the solution. Jessica is a twice-divorced mother of 3, a survivor of domestic violence, and a recovering alcoholic.

For decades, Jessica would not back down. When facing trauma, she picked herself up and moved forward.

Lessons were learned, and a few years ago when she found herself deep in debt, she discovered the answer to financial empowerment and developed a program to help others in the same situation.

Today Jessica is an author, entrepreneur, and financial empowerment coach whose passion is to inspire others with the message that they too, can thrive during tough times and to never give up!

In this episode we cover:

  • Why words matter
  • How to unpack our false beliefs that become self-fulfilling prophecies
  • How to think about money in a new way
  • What debt really is
  • Why it is important to spend "in alignment"
  • How to evaluate your relationship with your money
  • How to teach your children to develop their own financial empowerment
  • What steps to start creating a money story of abundance

Essential oils seem to be everywhere: on every label + in every commercial.

It is because they have extraordinary power to shift both your mind and body into a state of well-being.

But how do you tell the real stuff from imposters? And does that even matter?

As it turns out... it matters A LOT!

In this episode, Roxanne Foura explains what you really need to know about using essential oils and how to choose the products and oils that help you merge with your best self.

Roxanne Foura, BA, LMT, doTERRA Wellness Advocate has worked in the complementary alternative world for 18 years as a massage therapist, holistic practitioner, public speaker and instructor for doTERRA Essential Oils.

Roxanne is a mother of a 15-year-old son and 11-year-old daughter.

Roxanne is an avid skier, traveler, reader, and writer. She has been fortunate in this life to piece-meal her passions to create a peaceful, sustainable career in the holistic world. Providing tools and education to those seeking options and methods to improve wellness approaches to life.

I met Roxanne when she was teaching a workshop on essential oils and emotions at my yoga studio. I fell in love with her scientific knowledge of each oil individually. She explained the chemical composition as it related to the way that it functioned, either in our bodies or in our environments. I am always on a mission to uncover the intricacies of our biology as it relates to how we think and feel, within ourselves and our larger environment.

During the early days of the pandemic, when the world was in lock-down, I spent many evenings on my phone as Roxanne described, from her basement office, the composition and benefits of each essential oil-and oil blend- offered by doTerra in her private Facebook Group.

I thought that I knew so much about essential oils until Roxanne entered my world and I realized that I had hardly scratched the surface.

Despite what the pharmaceutical industry wants you to believe: health is our natural state of being.

Nature offers us symbiotic support to heal how we feel, both emotionally and physically.

It is up to us to tap in.

But like so many other things, knowing where to start can be overwhelming.

You will learn big words, like "PHARMACOGNOSY." And you will understand why Roxanne is a wealth of practical information and insight.

In this episode, we touch on everything from the "green-washing" of common household products to the effects of chemical toxins in beauty and cleaning products to the simple, inexpensive ways to begin your essential oil journey.

Tune in to discover:

  • How the average mom, who does everything, can begin to convert a household to a non-toxic environment
  • What "green-washing" means
  • What to look for on labels that advertise essential oils
  • Why the quality of an oil matters

I also tell you how other factors influence how a color is going to read in the room, including the direction that the room faces and the time of day that the room gets light.

Why is it that bad things seem to all happen at once?

Do you ever take note when good things are all happening at once as well?

Or it feels like "the stars are in perfect alignment"-meaning everything works out in an almost miraculous way?

From the brilliant Life Coach School founder, Brooke Castillo, I learned how to reprogram the results that were showing up in my life base on the THOUGHT MODEL:

C:

T:

F:

A:

R:

Actually, I learned it from my business coach, Tobi Fairley who introduced me to the tools and Teachings of Brooke Castillo. And I was able to understand it fully by working through situations and struggles in Tobi's Design You Membership for Interior Designers and Creative Business Owners.

It's not just a business tool.

It's an invaluable life tool.

It was part of the final piece of training in my recent alignment challenge.

Tune in to discover how these 5 letters can radically transform your life. And even more importantly, how you are showing up for yourself in your life.

I also teach my "Future Self" journal practice that helps you tap into the depth and breadth of your inner wisdom at EXACTLY the moment you need it.

Every year has ups and downs.

This year, the pendulum seemed to swing farther than usual in both directions.

In this episode, I break down the 10 things of 2021 that had the biggest impact and what I learned from each.

Discovering a sense of flow through the good things and the bad seemed to provide the overall story for the year.

Oprah tells the story of how every year at the beginning of the year she would pray for patience.

And every year bigger, more challenging obstacles would show up in her path.   Finally, it occurred to her to stop asking for patience and ask for peace.

There is a lot of wisdom in that advice.  But big journeys almost always involve rough terrain.  And the view on top of the mountain is always the most spectacular.

For all of the items that I referenced in this episode:

  • the weekly worksheet I use
  • the books I referenced
  • the products
  • the meditation guide

Why uncover your "Word of the Year" for 2022?

New Year's Resolutions never worked for me.

If I decided I wanted to do something, why should I wait until January 1st to start?

And there is as much chatter about abandoning resolutions as there is about keeping them.

Over the years I have looked on them more as something to create a forcefield of false drama around than something that actually moves people in the direction they want to go.

Four years ago, I choose my first truly effective word of the year, in a process similar to the one I walk through in the podcast. Each year since I have fine-tuned the process. And truths that I have uncovered have been more influential and directional than I could have ever imagined when I sat down that first time with pencil and paper in hand.

The process, itself, taught me to ask for what I really want.

I am delighted to have the opportunity to share the joy with you.

I have created a downloadable workbook (pdf format) so that you can unlock your own magic in 2022!

You can access it here. (Go to the episode webpage to download the Worksheets.)

I can't wait to hear what you have chosen as your WORD OF THE YEAR!

Have a wonderful Holiday!

If you are getting your house ready for the Holidays, more than likely you have to move some things around.

Am I right?

Does the air feel a little more electric when that happens?

It could be as big as a sofa or as small as a plant. It still has an effect.

Big or small, what you are doing is creating a detour for the energy that weaves its way through your home or space.

Did you know that you could use the decorating that you do this time of year as a lesson in discovering the energetic flow in your home?

Understanding the energy flow, or Chi, is one of the tenets of Feng Shui. I am no Feng Shui expert.

I know just enough to be dangerous!

But I am hyper-sensitive to energy.

Good and bad. It's one of the things that I love helping clients with.

We don't grow up learning about this. So it can be a little hard to conceptualize. You may even be one of those people who are skeptical that it even exists.

But I KNOW, you wouldn't be here if you didn't feel the difference between being in a space that feels good and one the feels "off."

In this episode, I give you four very relatable analogies that, when combined, help you get a sense of what this energy is.

As always, I bring the SCIENCE to DESIGN!

"Your FEARS were never meant to serve as ANCHORS."

What if we tapped into the natural flow?

Of life?

Our bodies?

Our environment?

Is there a big-ol' jetstream out there that we are constantly swimming in and out of?

What happens when we find our unique jetstream and just go with it?

Things start to fall away, like:

  • self-doubt
  • frustration
  • resentment
  • second-guessing
  • caring what other people think

In this episode, I share with you how much of what I wanted at the beginning of the year made itself present in my life by resisting the urge to control my circumstances and observing both how I felt internally and taking heed of the Divine Guidance that seemed to be ever-present.

What can a commitment to Alignment do for you?

Before you set any goals, resolutions, or intentions for 2022, I encourage you to listen to this episode so that you too can take advantage of the natural occurrence of alignment that you can harness to make 2022 a year of less resistance and more flow.

If you are one of those people that really struggle with either giving or receiving gifts, this episode is for you.

I don't believe in obligatory gift-giving.  I believe in finding the alignment in the action.  I don't believe in waste.

I believe that if we look at this time of year as an opportunity to show those that we care about in a way that is more aligned with both us and the people around us, we can let go of a lot of the "shoulds", the stress, the guilt, the exhaustion, that we associate with the season.

This episode comes at the process of gift-giving from the perspective of doing some personal mindset work in conjunction with understanding the concepts taught in Gary Chapman's trademarked 5- Love Language teachings.

It's a short one.  I jumped up on my soapbox.

I hope it helps you find more joy for yourself instead of feeling the pressure of having to provide it this Holiday season.

We all know how to breathe.

I know that if you weren't breathing right now, you wouldn't be reading this.

I also know, that if you have experienced the power of breath-work; you can't wait to dive into this episode.

But if you never have, you are probably wondering what the big deal is.

My goal from the outset of creating this podcast was to help you meet yourself at the place of joy in your home, helping you reconnect to yourself in your personal space. And to help you help your daughter see herself in her magnificence by creating an environment where she can thrive.

I have learned from experience that connecting to that place of true joy and well-being goes beyond paint colors and buying things.

I am bringing to you a conversation that I had with Elisha Halpin, Priestess for Visionaries.

As we discuss, your breath is one of the few things on this planet that is both free and has the power to radically shift your emotional and physical health.

"You can only live at the level of your nervous system." -Elisha Halpin

What you will learn:

  • What the term "embodiment" means.
  • How monumental experiences can help us to experience the present moment.
  • How you are in control of what consistency means.
  • What un-compromising practices bring more self-love.
  • What does carving out the mental + physical space to practice mindfulness look like
  • What happens when we start listening to ourselves.

This episode is full of valuable nuggets that will help you understand why connecting to your breath is important and it is ultimately the key to more self-love, self-compassion, and a greater understanding of who YOU really are.

This episode came into being when I did something that was so out of character for me.  I had to stop and take a deeper look at what caused it.

I flipped out over a fork that was put in the dishwasher in the wrong spot.

I rarely ever get mad.

And if I do, it's something big.

I knew that there was something WAY DEEPER BREWING.

And in that process of discovery, I unearthed 5 rock-solid lessons to living in more FLOW.

Each of these lessons can be easily incorporated into your day-to-day living in your home to make life feel easier.

They have been a gamechanger for me.  I hope they have the same effect for you!

NO ONE LIKES BEING TOLD THEY ARE WRONG! And no one wants to be told that what they believe isn't actually true.

I am going out on a limb here to talk about exactly that.

Could you have been carrying around false beliefs that are affecting your home, your time, your finances, your love life?

Do you want to find out?

Beliefs are tricky things? They often keep us locked in a pattern that seems impossible to escape from.

But from the inside looking out, it seems as if our circumstances-the things or events that keep showing up in our lives; are to blame.

We grow so accustomed to telling ourselves the same stories over and over that we don't even hear them any more.

I'm going to let you in on a secret. Some of those untrue beliefs are keeping us from living the lives we long for. But they are cleverly disguised, hiding out in plan sight.

In this episode, I talk about:

  • How you can recognize those beliefs that aren't serving you.
  • How you can start shifting your beliefs (or helping your daughter shift hers) by identifying which words you are telling yourself
  • How to begin to use the tools that I give you to get the results in your life that you are looking for
  • How to recognize if you are simply harboring beliefs that you have been told or have been passed down to you
  • How your home environment becomes a feedback loop to your belief systems
  • How to break the spiral

My recent home renovation adventure has opened up some wounds that I thought had healed. And I want to use this opportunity as I work through them to help my clients and my listeners identify the things that might be locking you in the same patterns of frustration, anger, and discontent.

You can even take immediate action on your bedroom and break the spiral ASAP by registering for the "UGLY BEDROOM CHALLENGE" that runs November 1-November 5th to get the professional advice that you need to take your bedroom from a bland landing pad to an organized and efficient sanctuary that inspires you on a daily basis FOR ABSOLUTELY FREE. No matter how ordinary you feel, I can bet that you have something incredible hiding beneath that exterior.  You just have to dig deep enough to connect to it.  You may have even seen it as a burden or a flaw.  As girls, we are told to be less bossy, less emotional, less dramatic.  Our own power embarrasses us (or our parents) and we dial it back in order not to draw attention to ourselves.

Or we see someone who is so much better at what we are good at and getting to their level seems impossible.  We are afraid to 'own our superpower" out of fear of being judged or not measuring up to someone else's standards.

How do you nurture what comes naturally so that it can become more than just "something you are good at?"

WHAT YOU'LL LEARN IN THIS EPISODE... * how to recognize your daughter's superpower * how to recognize your own superpower * how developing a superpower equates to self-love * the effect of magnifying your strengths * how to get support in identifying and stepping into your superpower (or helping your daughter step into hers)

Do you wish you had more space to create the home or room design that you dream about?

I am a firm believer that obstacles are opportunities for creativity and expansion. It is a lot easier to see those opportunities from the outside looking in; not when you are in the midst of it yourself. Frustration and anxiety are great blinders.

In this episode, I walk you through the 6 steps that you can use to take full advantage of the space that you already have.

Because we are raised in an environment that constantly bombards us with the messages that we need MORE; something outside of us--something we are currently missing--will solve our problem.

Or our problem is US. We are not enough.

We believe that we need:

  • more money
  • more space
  • more time
  • more freedom to implement our own ideas and not be restricted by someone else's.

These are all the things we tell ourselves. But over and over I have found that we each have within us more than we realize when we just reframe our internal beliefs.

WHAT YOU'LL LEARN... * how to see your space more objectively * how to invite in the creativity that you think you don't have * why it's important for everyone's ideas to come together * how to expand your space visually and emotionally

Do you ever hear something so brilliant that you just can't wait to share it with everyone you know?

I just emerged from a lovely week-long challenge hosted by the Money Consciousness Queen, Harriette Jackson. One of the exercises that she taught was in perfect alignment with the methods that I use to help capture the unique spark that needs to be celebrated in your space/your daughter's space; whichever one you are working on. I couldn't wait to share it with you.

In the 2.5 years that I have been in business for myself, I have worked with some extraordinary women. From the coaches who I have either hired or participated in their coaching containers to the women that I have met through these programs; I have been able to grow in ways that I would have never otherwise believed possible. I have made incredible friendships. I have learned how to create a profitable business in alignment with my authentic self.

I bring the strength and knowledge of all of these women to my clients through the design process.

Life coaching and business coaching have played an extraordinary role in my life.

When I made the decision to shift my business from 1:1 in-home interior design to a consultation-based business, I realized that what I do best is COACH. I am a "space coach."

I help others tap into their innate creativity and create rooms and homes that are filled with the energy and beauty of the people that live there. My particular passion is tapping into the magic of that inner little girl. The one who had big ideas and dreams and got left behind as she was taught to be practical and sensible. Helping women feel empowered by their spaces as they rediscover their light brings me more joy than I have ever known in any other "profession."

And helping mothers magnify that magic possessed by their own creative girls, so they can grow up trusting themselves and their decisions and don't have to go through the self-doubt and rediscovery process is my life's mission.

I hope that you enjoy this episode as much as I love creating rooms where girls of all ages can THRIVE!

Interior design is about living in a home that brings you joy and inspires you. Contrary to popular belief, you can live in a home that you love without "being good at design" or having a big bank account.

My guest is an expert at helping first-time home buyers, the most "house poor" of us all, create plans that move them forward on their visions for homes that they can be proud of. Jessica shares how her journey across the continents and the commonality between all the people that she was able to help lead her to see where she could shine her bright light into the world. By combining her experience in real estate with her training, innate ability, and passion for interior design; she could help brand new homeowners take decisive action on their new home no matter the size of their budget. She shares with you her secrets that anyone can use to begin to take action. She even has a gift to help you at the end of the episode!

Jessica Velazquez is an Interior Designer and the creator of "The 9 Limiting Beliefs Sabotaging Our Home-Dreams" and the host of My Very First Home, a weekly live show now in its third year. She leads the virtual movement #selfcarebeginsathome, which gathers experts in the self-wellness industry to provide transformative insight into how to create a home that takes care of us and sets us up for success.

We dive into the issues that crop up as we start to take action.

We have a heartfelt chat about the struggles and joys of raising daughters with different "styles" than you and how to support them through their many phases of self-discovery.

We discuss husbands, ugly lamps, and giant broken chairs and how all of those things can, too, be sources of JOY.

She instructs us on how to use Pinterest as an actionable design tool rather than a rabbit hole of inaction and overwhelm which it can so easily become.

We talk about the biggest mistakes that new homeowners make when beginning to design their homes. And how those mistakes often lead to frustration, depleting their limited budget, and make them feel pigeon-holed into later choices.

You will learn what Jessica means by "Style follows Lifestyle" and how to use it as a guidepost to creating a home that you love no matter your budget!

Have you ever stopped to think that the tiny little voice in your head,

the one that tells you to take a different route right before you get stuck in traffic,

the one that tells you not to lift all 6 bags of groceries right before one of them spills out across the parking lot,

might have actually know what it's talking about?

I refer to it as an "intuitive nudge." I believe that it is your heart telling you to move in a different direction.

So how do you stand up for what you feel is your path forward without the fear of criticism or disappointing others? I talk a lot about how to transform your home and the spaces within your home on a daily basis. But in this podcast episode, we dig deeper. We talk about finding "THE HOME" of our most authentic selves.

Each day, on this Earth, we experience both joys and challenges. Depending on which of those we focus on determines which of those expands. When we shift our judgment on those challenges, and instead of seeing them as obstacles that we have no control of but rather asking them what message they bring with them; our path forward begins to illuminate. I am the first to admit; it's not easy to ask those questions. Sometimes the answers are really hard to hear! But, in listening, everything becomes more clear.

My guest on Episode 11 of the In Her Eyes Podcast, Amy Malsbenden Neil shares her journey from being a collegiate hammer thrower to falling in love with the land and homesteading to tapping into her intuition and how that lead her to her true home. She talks about how she listened to those pesky little voices that pop up when we are misaligned and had the hard conversations with those she loved to discover a life of daily joy.

Throughout Amy's journey, the role of community plays a large role from being taken care of as a small child whose family business was the epicenter for her small community to falling in love with the land and the spirit of co-creating with something much larger than herself to becoming a community event organizer in her hometown: letting life bloom and bear fruit just like the land she is cultivating.

Have you fallen down the Human Design rabbit hole yet? If you have, you know exactly what I am talking about. It is one of the most fascinating things I have discovered in years! If you HAVEN'T, this is the crash course you need to get started!

My guest, Emma Jensen, is an expert in Human Design. She is as knowledgeable as she is passionate. In the discovery of Human Design and her unique blueprint, she was able to uncover the root causes of chronic diseases that plagued her as she began to climb the corporate ladder to heal both her body and mind. You can read Emma's story below and connect with her directly to discover more about living within your design.

If you don't know what Human Design is, you are definitely going to want to tune in and find out.

In this episode, she describes each of the 5 types:

  • MANIFESTOR
  • MANIFESTING GENERATOR
  • GENERATOR
  • PROJECTOR
  • REFLECTOR

Do you know YOUR type? Do you know what your UNIQUE BLUEPRINT looks like? Your strategy? Your Inner Authority?

YOU CAN FIND LINKS TO THE RECOMMENDED SITES TO GET YOUR FREE CHART HERE: Episode 10 Webpage

Emma grew up in the corporate and government worlds. Never knowing what she wanted to do she followed in her Dad’s footsteps and went into law enforcement. After a short stint, she went into the corporate world and eventually transitioned into working for herself, pivoting completely. She has worked for big companies: the United States Secret Service, Nike, and Apple, but always felt like her impact was meant to be more meaningful and bigger than what she was doing. It was through her personal development journey that she found her way to her current calling, Animal Communication and Healing and Human Design.

Now she lives within her Human Design and creates the impact that she has been longing for all those years. She works with individuals, coaches, and groups in embracing their authenticity (using Human Design as the tool). Helping them to understand their unique blueprint, which in turn sets them free from the box and chains of conditioning most of us live in and deepens the compassion for self and others. This is the work she was put on this Earth to do and she loves every second.

Emma helps us unpack how we can use the information found in our Human Design charts to improve our lives within our homes and our relationships with our daughters in particular. Did you know that one of the 5 types is critically influenced by their physical environment?

Other things you will learn:

  • what Human Design is and how it differs from Astrology and other philosophies
  • what role each type plays in society
  • how to identify when you are living in (or out) of your design
  • how understanding our design can enhance our understanding of ourselves
  • how it can also improve our relationships by helping us understand and have compassion for others
  • what we need to know to keep from burning ourselves out
  • what roles our design plays in how we function well (or struggle) in life, love, and business

Do you have areas in your home that always seem to collect clutter? Do you find that despite the fact you have tried adding baskets or organizers to those spaces they still get messy? Are there individual tasks that you, your kids, or your spouse seem to struggle with over and over? Do you get frustrated? Do they?

If you answered yes to any of those questions, you will want to join in to hear the "Back to School Clutter Buster Workshop" that I share on the podcast.

It's easy to complain about them but taking decisive action can be much more rewarding.

In the end, the action-taking gives you back time AS WELL AS the mental space to focus on more valuable thoughts!

The workshop was taught live and recorded. Originally it was slated for 20 minutes, but there was so much goodness happening in the chat I wanted to make sure that everyone was clear on exactly HOW to take action on their problem areas. As well as understand HOW to release the mental frustration that is attached to things that aren't working or taking up mental real estate.

By identifying areas in your home that aren't working as the source of frustration, and not the people, it is much easier to analyze those areas objectively and take the necessary action to transform them to accommodate your various needs.

I walk you through the reframes and mindset shifts that I have found that help me as well as my clients create more harmony and order within their homes.

I also guide you through the ways that you can help your daughters recognize their own needs for order and creative expression within their spaces.

I introduce you to the 3 strategies that you can employ from James Clear's book Atomic Habits that can be used in your design strategy to help you get better and more consistent results in your life.

What are the costs of always putting everyone else's needs ahead of your own? What YOU need MATTERS! Your emotional and physical health depends on YOU taking ownership of what YOU need. It is no one else's responsibility. If you have always prided yourself on your ability to get things done at all costs, you have more than likely experienced the resentment or frustration that crops up when your own needs aren't recognized or valued.

I am honored to share with you the conversation that I had with the brilliant and inspiring transformational life coach, Nancy Levin on this episode of the In Her Eyes Podcast.

Nancy Levin is a best-selling author, master coach, and host of the podcast Your Permission Prescription. Formerly the Event Director at Hay House for over a decade, Nancy is the creator of Levin Life Coach Academy and Destination Me, offering in-depth coaching and training programs designed to support students and clients to make themselves a priority by setting boundaries that stick.

There is so much wisdom in Nancy's insight on what it means to be self-referenced and honor ourselves. She is on a mission to help us take back our power by helping us establish our own boundaries and stick to them. She guides us through:

  • what boundaries really are
  • how to reframe our own needs
  • what it means to be self-referenced
  • how we can get caught up in the wave of being other referenced
  • what that costs us
  • why striving for the approval of others leaves us empty
  • how to take back the word "selfish" to our benefit

If you have read Nancy's latest book, Setting Boundaries Will Set You Free, you will understand just how excited I was to dive headfirst into this topic with her. If you have not had the opportunity to read the book, this is your crash course! You owe it to yourself (and everyone who loves you) to listen! For a world-class people-pleaser like me, this book was a life reset.

When I first committed to bringing this podcast to life, I made a list of my top 100 dream guests. Nancy Levin was in the top 10. So you can imagine how over the moon excited I was to have the opportunity to interview her. She brings both knowledge and passion to this subject in a way that no one else can. I am so grateful for showing up with such compassion and honesty for me and the beautiful-spirited listeners like you!

If my decades' worth of self-help has taught me anything, it is that living in the moment and appreciating the simple things brings the most joy to your life.  If throwing big parties stresses you out, this episode is for you!  You can cultivate a lifestyle of celebration just by reframing what a celebration is.  And what it's not.

By taking a deeper look at what celebration really is, you will uncover ways to enhance your life on a day-to-day basis.  You will also find ways to help your daughters step into their authenticity and self-confidence.

The dictionary definition of Celebration is-- the action of marking one's pleasure at an important event or occasion by engaging in enjoyable, typically social, activity.

It is not about impressing others.  Or spending money. Or even necessarily about food.

It's about paying attention.  It's about ritual.  It's about creating opportunities to listen and learn.

Come dive in with me, and an armload of wildflowers, and LET'S CELEBRATE!

What things are you bringing into your home that could be causing you to feel less than your best? In this episode, you will learn where hormone/endocrine-disrupting toxins can be found hiding and why it is important to be on the lookout for them. You will learn what steps to take to make your home the place where you, your daughters, your family can thrive. Medical anthropologist and toxic mold survivor, Lea Pickard will be sharing with you the most important things you need to know about creating interior harmony at the cellular level. Our bodies have a miraculous ability to heal themselves. But that ability is hampered when we are (often unknowingly) in constant contact with biologically disruptive chemicals. You will hear what happens when a molecular biologist and medical anthropologist dive deep into what it means to truly empower yourself in your own space.

While all of this might sound heavy and technical and even boring, Lea and I have so much fun unpacking this information for you. And what you find on the other side, when you start making your own empowered upgrades, is pure joy and freedom!

What you will learn:

  • how our cycles can be disrupted by what we use on our bodies or in our home
  • how known chemical toxins can be cleverly disguised in the things we interact with daily
  • what chemicals to be on the lookout for
  • how packaging can visually distract you from the truth of what's in a product
  • where to go for products that care about your health and the health of our beautiful Mother Earth

Does decision-making cause you anxiety? Do you tend to second guess yourself? Do you wonder if the decision is the "right" one? Or do you avoid taking action because you fear you will regret the decisions you have made?

In this episode, I expand on the idea of taking a hard look at what you are inspired by and using it to create a design template for all of the decisions that you have to make going forward to pull together a project, or room, that inspires you?

When you are feeling anxious or overwhelmed, you lose the sense of joy in your project. And when you feel constricted by money or things that you don't want to work with, decorating a room that you will love can feel almost impossible. But looking at things differently can open the window to more organized thought processes that yield a more creative overall design.

Don't let the decisions take the joy out of creating from your heart. You can learn how to have more faith in your decision-making skills when you connect to your vision. I teach you how to do the analysis upfront to enjoy taking the actions needed to fall in love with any makeover or room design!

WHAT YOU'LL LEARN:

  • how to use 4 analysis points to make decisions about style choices
  • what to do when the thing that you are using as inspiration for your project isn't actually going in your room
  • how to avoid over-buying
  • what actions cause the spiral of self-doubt
  • why you start buying things before you have a concrete plan
  • how to decide what goes and what stays
  • why creating a budget for your project is expansive rather than restrictive
  • what mindset shifts you can use to create from a place of abundance no matter the size of your project budget
