In a world where we're not really entirely able to answer the question "What is a woman?", it's that more confusing to define what an empowered woman would look like...

And, if we can't define it, it must breed so much confusion about how an empowered woman would conduct herself, look like, or navigate the world as a whole.

Add business to the equation, especially industries largely dominated by men, and you're bound to have a mixture of caricatures, or radicalized stances, where women - instead of using their feminine power - turn to trying to become men and failing in the process.

Not to mention, that despite being offered a place at the table a long while back, we can still hear sentiments (of women) of not having the opportunities offered and general confusion about the rules that the table requires.

But then there are women who know the secrets to not only survive but thrive in a male-dominated world, holding positions of power, and being excellent leaders, and we've sat down with one of them to spill the secrets to us entrepreneurs.

Join me and Janine Jansen - a growth mentor, speaker, and author and let's dive deep into what it takes to take the lead in a man's world.

Isn't it just annoying how, as soon as we become entrepreneurs, we are exposed to those expectations, rules, and lists?

Everywhere we go, we are being told what we MUST do, and how we SHOULD act, and the worst part is - oftentimes - we impose these on ourselves too...

There is a massive problem though with blindly following the rules of others, constant people-pleasing, and not having boundaries, and if it's something you do consistently, it can actually cost you your business and your brand.

Let's sit down with Laura Aura Wallace - CEO of Worx.co, alignment coach, and a very outspoken (and down to Earth) podcast host for the top 100 business podcast "The Gutsy Podcast" and discuss the potential dangers of people pleasing, the industry BS that is keeping you stuck, branding, mindset, empowerment, and much more...

What could be the worse kind of business advice...?

In my opinion, it's the one that you shouldn't rest when starting, building, OR growing a business!

The truth is different, and the way to work is simpler, and we'll be looking
at it through the perspective of the former trainer of Olympic athletes - Cheree Sauer, who along with her business partner decided to take the best rules from the world of sports and transfer them into the world of business...

Side-hustles are everywhere. The promise of acquiring a side income from a "fast and easy" get rich quick scheme can be found on every social media, site or browser ad, but sadly - most of them are just that - promises - which are neither quick, easy or actually profitable...

One thing's for sure, they are very enticing, but bad advice can be both damaging to your wallet, as well as your self-esteem, and we need to ask a question - is it really worth our time in the first place? After all, building a side-hustle, outside of some additional pocket money, should be a long term and sustainable venture.

So how do we build a side-hustle that could eventually grow to become a full-fledged business, how do we avoid scams and fads, and what to pay attention to within ourselves to know, if having a side-hustle is really something worth pursuing?

Answer to that and more in today's Habits of Influence with the side-hustle coach Christen N.James.

Every entrepreneurial journey looks quite similar (with a few exceptions) - a hopeful start, the realization it's not as easy as others make it out to be, questioning if it's you and you only having such a struggle, overwhelm, and then a breakthrough into a different mind-frame, where you go from defeated to a warrior.

We hear this time and time again, that there is a need to work on your mindset, that "success comes from within", but what does that even matter? And how do embark on that journey, or take the steps necessary to make the shift?

This week's episode is the personal journey of Megan Nolan - a Vitality Coach, sprinkled with tips on taking yourself from the state of overwhelm, into activating "your inner CEO", as well as tuning out the noise that makes us confused, stressed, and depressed.

When we start our business, failure is one of the most feared situations anyone can imagine.

The thought of having to admit you have failed to: family, friends, and people who kind-heartedly warned you of the dangers of entrepreneurship, can seem like a punishment no one wants to go through.

This can take a toll on a person mentally, physically, and financially, and cause us to ask "Why me? Why is my business failing?", draining us from the inside out, and making us feel like the whole world is simply crashing down, with no way out.

The truth is, despite the motivational quotes, and success stories, any business can fail at any time in our lives, and it's not a given that we will succeed with even the most promising venture there is.

So, how do we overcome failure in business? And how do we deal with the feelings that come right after - the shame, the inadequacy, and the pain?

And how do we turn our failure into success by taking what we've learned and building something even better, stronger, and more powerful in our next business venture?

Join Ian this week, as he talks to the amazing Boni Wagner-Stafford about her journey from living on a boat in Mexico, losing everything in a failed business venture, and going on to co-founding a very successful publishing company - Ingenium Books that changes the lives of many authors every year and causing her to live the life of fulfillment, freedom, and her version of success.

Coaching and consulting is one of the fastest growing industries everyone seems to want a piece of nowadays. The premise of being your own boss coupled with doing what you are genuinely passionate about and helping others with is more than enticing to so many.

With the massive influx though there seem to be tons of misalignment, misconceptions, and false promises causing people to waste a lot of time and a lot of money, and essentially fail in the venture, causing said people to blame themselves, deem themselves as not good enough, not knowledgable enough or simply inadequate.

76% of new coaches and consultants either disappear within the first two years of starting a business or are unable to lift their business off the ground and it's not because they're not good enough at what they do, but mainly because of lack of essential business acumen that would allow them to not only survive but also thrive in that career.

In this week's episode I'm speaking to Tammy Johnston about surviving the first two years of the coaching business, her thoughts on the differences between starting now and over two decades ago, the harsh truth of marketing nowadays, and much more...

All About Stand Out Marketing Part 1!

Modeling other people's marketing became a staple of many online business owners, as taught by their mentors and coaches "Why change something that works"?

As much as this statement holds a lot of truth, it also has some massive disadvantages - the main one being an overwhelming majority of "sameness" online, as well as the inability of marketers to stand out from the crowd and look exactly as all of their competitors.

In part 1 of our "All about stand out marketing" [two-part series] I'm chatting with Marcus Matthews - a mindset expert - to look at the reasoning behind why we tend to immediately believe people just because they're famous marketers, and how it's not the best approach to model what they are doing themselves if you're just starting out or building your own practice.

Selling is all about storytelling—we human beings are inherently storytellers. When we tell our stories, we connect with people. And when we connect with people, we sell them things.

The truth is once you learn how to tell a good story and make your buyer feel like they're a part of it, you're on a great path to being able to sell anything

But, what if marketers fabricate or stretch reality when creating stories? Is "story pinching" equally as powerful, or can we see right through it? How do we spot the real stories in a sea of fakes, so that we don't end up deceived, or scammed in the process?

Finally, are we desensitized from the hard sob stories of the underdog and into the world of fake it till you make it marketing?

Let's discuss...

Building a team can be the catalyst for your biggest business growth, and create unstoppable momentum. If your team members are people who understand and love your vision, there is no force that could prevent your message from reaching the masses.

On the other hand, the strength of the group can also become its weakness, and all it takes sometimes is one weak link in the chain to make the business crumble.

Let's talk business horror stories about toxic employees and collaborators...

We've all met that person who's standoffish and repulsive with their "know-it-all" attitude or a patronizing tone, but what if we were forced to coexist with a whole bunch of them on a daily basis, due to the nature of our business?

The first results in business may trigger entitlement and a preaching tone with some business owners and may make it really difficult for you to stay excited about expanding your business network...

But, there are also times, when you just can't help but laugh...

Sometimes it's easier to just let go of your composure than for it to add to the pressure...

TRIGGER WARNING [this episode discusses a sensitive topic that might trigger the emotions of some people. If you feel it might impact you negatively, please skip this week, and we'll see you in our next one. Lots of love!]

What makes someone an entrepreneur?
What traits do we need to possess?

Is it true that all we're supposed to develop is the "mental toughness and a flexible spine" to be successful?

Should we "fail forward", "face our fears" and hustle 24/7...?

Today's episode speaks about identity. The identity you decide to choose as a human being, but also as a business owner.

Will you adapt to thinking that you are your business, or will you separate your work life from your personal one, along with your perception of who you really are?

Our chat was inspired by the tragic outcome of one businessman, Gustavo Arnal, who lost his identity for his company and sadly, paid the ultimate price.

Let's get into today's topic!

Before you post any piece of content, do you ask yourself:

"If I was my customer, would I care?"

There's a fine line between being authentic with your marketing, and simply oversharing.

It's a common mistake with both companies and personal brands, so it's time to discuss where are we talking about topics relevant to our business, attracting the right customers, and repelling the wrong ones from becoming irrelevant and oversharing our personal views which may, potentially, cause us to lose valuable clients too.

Regardless of your stage in business, as soon as you go public, you have to become very mindful of your conduct, presentation, reactions, and impact.

Many of us entrepreneurs forget, that we don't have to be Hollywood celebrities, public figures, or run a big company in order to be observed, judged, and held accountable.

Also, there may be instances, where we do everything right, spending many years building a legacy and losing it all due to a one-off mistake in conduct, or a wrongful accusation.

In this instance, as recent loud events have shown us, whether you're a top-paid Hollywood star, a well-known influencer, or an average Joe running a small business, your carefully crafted career can disappear in a blink of an eye.

And despite the financial status, you can lose one thing even money can't buy - public opinion.

Today's fiery episode has it all - the wrongful accusations, the public cancellations, bad conduct, and an explanation of what this all means to you and me - a plain business owner...

Also, let's discuss the concerning increase in men being slandered and used by women for their own advantage, as well as answer the question of "are women still the weaker sex", or have we gone overboard with our "rights" movement...
