BREATH-WORK INTRODUCTION

The pelvic floor muscles can be weak, overstretched, slow to work, too tight or torn just like the other muscles of your body.

Pregnancy or childbirth, chronic constipation, heavy or repeated lifting, high impact exercise, being overweight and smoking can all cause problems with the pelvic floor muscles.

Vaginal changes after menopause may make pelvic floor problems worse, which is why It is important that we build your foundations; one being your pelvic floor and core synergy. It is important to get the right muscles working in the right way.

In the first 3 weeks of the BodyRevive course, we will be helping you to focus on your breath-work and pelvic floor habits.

Regardless of how you feel, a period of restorative bodywork where the soft tissue/force-closure kinks are worked out in order to create an awesome foundation on which we then eventually load with exercise is essential.

We know you are extremely keen to jump to the next stage of exercise, however skipping this step is not one that we advise. Be respectful to your body, it will reward you threefold for doing this.

TASK: Try our 7 minute breath-work and pelvic floor health audio.

AIMS: At least twice before the course begins so that you can get the hang of the process and, be able to ask any questions prior to the course beginning

Research shows that around 80% of women have reported pain or discomfort on return to sex after giving birth to their baby - however, because this is such a taboo subject it’s sometimes one that we may not want to speak to a professional (or sometimes even friends or family) about!

If this is something that you are struggling with then you are not alone, and we want to give you some tips to help you out. This is taken from a podcast we did with Clare Bourne, who is a Pelvic Health physio based in North London.  You can find her on instagram under @clarebournephysio

We are excited to have collaberated with Kelly Thistlewaite on this podcast...

I’m a Yorkshire lass, I’m married and a mother to our beautiful daughter Lily-May who is 2.5 years old.

My passion is to support Women throughout their motherhood journey to feel happy, healthy, confident and empowered.

I am a specialist trauma informed and pre & post natal Yoga and breathwork instructor and I am also a Matrescence Coach and Mama Rising facilitator.

I have over 15 year’s experience in healthcare delivery across different sectors including the British Military, corporate and education settings, private clinics, wellbeing studios and retreat delivery. I am a successful entrepreneur currently running 2 businesses: Yorkshire Yogi and FLY Mama- which is an online platform for mums set up during the pandemic to support mothers with their physical, emotional and mental wellbeing.

I partner with the global maternal networking app ‘Peanut’ to deliver talks around Matrescence and perinatal stress and trauma offering support and tips for mothers across the world.

I am honored to support Women through one of the biggest transformations and shifts In identity they will ever experience- becoming a mother.

I am fascinated in the affect that stress and trauma has on our physical well-being and dedicated to supporting women to heal from their perinatal experiences with a ‘bottom up approach’- meaning to use the bodies wisdom to aid healing.

The power of Yoga and Breathwork to aid healing and enhance well-being continues to amaze me and I love sharing my knowledge with women. .

Since becoming a mother myself I have experienced birth trauma and miscarriage first hand and felt the effects physically, emotionally and mentally.

I was never officially diagnosed with anxiety, post natal depression and PTSD but did experience them. For me my healing began when my little girl started nursery and I had the regular time, rest and space to identify just how much I had struggled.

I believe that we can all heal and recover from our experiences at any stage in our lives and be the Women and Mothers that we desire and deserve to be.

I offer 1:1 support online or in person at my studio (I am based in Holmfirth, West Yorkshire) and I am also the co- founder of the online platform for mothers called @fly_mama -an online platform supporting mothers physically, emotionally and mentally as they navigate motherhood".
