A rising sport, a three-time champion, and a community that turns winter into a season of possibility—this conversation with Macie Elliott is a masterclass in how paddle tennis blends strategy, resilience, and partnership.
Join Annie as she talk through Macie's early roots playing tennis with her family in Evansville, Indiana, to her Division 1 tennis career at SMU and into paddle, where she has found the sweet spot where the screens rewrite shot selection and patience outplays power.
We delve into the mental side of the game and how racquet sports build resilience and determination. You'll love her take on accountability and composure—and her habit of reflection and adjustment. Strategy fans get a window into patterns, tempo shifts, and why the screens create both more strengths and more weaknesses to exploit.
We also face the access question head-on. Paddle’s reputation as a country club sport isn’t about culture, it’s about cost. Macie points to public facilities like Cleveland’s model, youth clinics, streaming, and regional camps as the levers that can expand the map across the colder half of the country.
Whether you’re a seasoned player or screen-curious, you’ll leave with tools for better shot choices, stronger partnerships, and a steadier mind under pressure. Join us at Canoe Brook March 6–8, cheer on the women’s draw, and help grow the game. If this conversation resonates, follow the show, share with your team, and leave a quick review to help more listeners find us.

🎧 🎙 👏 We are thrilled to bring you this next episode of SEE Change with special guest, Nora LaTorre. Nora is the CEO of Eat Real Certified, a non-profit dedicated to fixing the food system for children and the planet. Click here to download:
Nora is on a mission to make food, delicious, nutritious, and good for the planet through the US public school system. Many people don't realize that public schools are the largest restaurant chain in America serving over seven billion meals a year. Unfortunately, 67% of kids’ calories are ultra-processed calories which are having a negative effect on their physical and mental health.
The good news is that schools can move the food system away from being ultra-processed and sugary to being delicious, healthier, and more sustainable for the planet. She believes upgrading our food system for the benefit of our children is the cause of our lifetimes and something that she and the team at Eat Real are dedicated to help change. Nora shares examples of how real food can boost children’s mental health, support students’ athletic dreams as well as academic performance, and truly nourish the future.
This is an issue that affects us all in one way or another. The good news is that Eat Real has created solutions that are gaining traction and being implemented across the country. And by tackling this upstream at the root cause, their model is creating a ripple effect of good for children, schools, communities, and the planet. 🌍 🧒 🏘 🏫

🎙 🎧On this episode, we talk with the Co-Founder and President of Primal Kitchen (Primal Nutrition, LLC), Morgan Buehler Zanotti for an inspiring, funny, and candid conversation about Morgan's unconventional career path, current American health trends, and how she co-lead the creation of Primal Kitchen that, in just three years, was acquired by Kraft Heinz.
Morgan's road to Primal Kitchen began while she was living in South America where she was introduced to the 'standard process cleanse', an elimination diet of dairy, gluten, and most processed foods. Instantly, she noticed how much better she felt and how many of her chronic health issues and 'annoyances' went away. To this day, she still follows the same eating principles and has been on a health and wellness mission to live a cleaner, healthier life ever since.
Tune in as Morgan recounts stories of what it was like to play a lead role in Primal Kitchen's acquisition as a young woman, her life as a mom of three boys under the age of 5, and what she is seeing from her vantage point with the Ozempic craze sweeping the country. Morgan's depth and breadth of knowledge in clean eating and the food industry along with her fun, light-hearted, and candid style, make for a lively and laugh-out-loud conversation! 👏 😂

On this episode, we invited Professor Nancy Weiss Malkiel, the trailblazing historian and author of ‘Keep the Damned Women Out’, to take us back to the late #1960s, a tumultuous time with countless civil rights and social movements, when she was just starting her career in academia. At the age of 25, Malkiel became the first woman to join Princeton University’s history department and one of only three women to join Princeton's faculty overall. 📕 📚
In this fascinating discussion, Nancy recounts stories about what life for women was like back then and the changes taking place for women at elite higher education institutions. From today's standpoint, it's hard to believe that it's only been 50 years since women were admitted to these elite institutions. Through her stories and her book, ‘Keep the Damned Women Out’, she shares the details and surprising motivations that ultimately led these elite institutions' decisions to go coed.
Malkiel is an extraordinary historian with a rich and unique perspective. She has been on the front lines of the women's movement that has been taking place over the last half-century in academia, business, and society.

We couldn't BEE happier to bring you this next episode of SEE Change! On this episode, we welcomed the amazing Brenda Palms Barber, CEO and President of North Lawndale Employment Network and Founder of Sweet Beginnings, Chicago, LLC, for a fascinating discussion about honeybees, business, and how the social enterprise she founded almost 20 years ago is changing lives on the West Side of Chicago.
She talks us through how she identified the root causes of the extraordinarily high unemployment and chronic poverty levels in this part of Chicago and how she came upon creating this innovative job training and employment program through the art, science, and business of beekeeping and, over time, natural skin care products.
The best part about Sweet Beginnings is that it is a market-driven solution to a social issue so in addition to providing fabulous honey and skin care products, they are raising awareness for the issue of mass incarceration through something that is as simple and day-to-day as honey.
Although before founding Sweet Beginnings, Brenda did not know anything about beekeeping, her can-do attitude, unwavering determination, and ability to seek out the good in people helped her create and grow it into something way beyond anything she could have imagined. It’s a BEEutiful story!
Sweet Beginnings now sells honey and skincare products under the name #BeeLove and can be purchased at Mariano's Supermarkets, as well as at hotels, airports, and online.

On our Earth Day edition of SEEChange we are talking about oyster farming and aquaculture with Karen Rivara, President of Aeros Cultured Oyster Co.
Karen was inspired to be a Marine Biologist while watching the “Undersea World of Jacques Cousteau” on television when she was 12.
Today, Karen operates Aeros Cultured Oyster Co. where she grows oysters commercially for food, providing oyster larvae to other farms and to environmental groups that grow oysters for restoration purposes.
Oysters are a critical part of the waterways because they are considered key stone organisms providing habitat for other sea life and also filter feeders that take nitrogen and carbon from water systems and turn that into delicious oyster tissue that can then be consumed.
Karen’s almost 40 year career in shellfish farming has given her a front row seat to the rapid effects of a changing climate on the waterways and the #oyster population. While her story is a wake-up call for the changes we all need to make to reduce our environmental footprint, it will also leave listeners hopeful for the future as she is seeing oyster populations and overall interest in improving the environment trending in the right direction.
