Dr. Weichelt focuses on the application of technologies to the current agricultural health and safety landscape, including assessing the effectiveness of new tools and mobile technology in reaching rural farm populations. In addition to the main focus on agricultural injury surveillance data capture and dissemination strategies, Dr. Weichelt is also exploring options for systematically capturing patient occupation and veteran status in the EHR, and assessing provider and patient adoption of mHealth in rural health care.

The speaker received both her Master of Public Health and Certified Health Education Specialist credential ten years ago. She has worked as an academic research support staff since 2006, including oncology, endocrinology, and hematology observational and interventional studies. Her work has included population health survey data collection, electronic health record data entry, database maintenance, regulatory submissions for Phase 1-4 clinical trials, and audit compliance for principal investigators at the Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health, Emory University's Rollins School of Public Health, Grady Memorial Hospital, Winship Cancer Institute, and the Albany Medical Center.
