Practicing the way of Jesus together in our city... The House is a gathering on Sunday nights where followers of Jesus from the community come together to explore what it means to live out their faith right here and right now. This podcast captures the teaching portion of the House and is meant to start conversations that will help to guide apprentices of Jesus in their quest to be with Jesus, become like Jesus, and to do the things that Jesus did.

In today's episode, we delve into the recent weekend sermon titled "Jesus Humility." Tevis explores the intricate concepts surrounding the attainment of genuine humility, both for personal growth and for effectively advancing God's kingdom.
The notion of humility may appear straightforward at first glance, but it is a complex and multifaceted concept. Humility exists along a continuum, with potential pitfalls on either extreme. On one side, there's the perilous precipice of excessive pride, which represents an overextension of humility. This can manifest as fake humility, where individuals feign attentiveness but are merely awaiting their turn to speak, showing a lack of genuine respect for others' perspectives.
Conversely, on the opposite end of the spectrum, we find ourselves in the realm of what can be termed as "worthless humility." This occurs when we mistakenly embrace our sinful nature excessively, failing to recognize the presence of Christ within us. Instead, we are encouraged to walk confidently in our faith, acknowledging the Christ dwelling within us.
We trust that you will find this episode enlightening and enriching. Thank you for joining us!
This episode explores the foundation of Identity and its critical relationship with sex and the counterfeit offer from the enemy. At the core if this issue today is the spiritual malaise present in the pursuit of truth. God has something to say about this that will serve to helpful for every man and every woman. Joe Kinzel, one of our exceptional ministry leaders has something to say about this as well. Enjoy!
Today we are going deeper on this past weekend's sermon titled, confession. The primary emphasis of pastor Tom's sermon came to its crescendo in Psalm 51 when the prophet Nathan came to David after he had committed adultery with Bathsheba. Today's topic discussion will be going deeper on the concept of obedience to God and the necessary need for reaching for restoration rather than reaching for relief.
This is the 3rd part in the 3 part series titled, "Partnering with God on the Battlefield".
"The Perfect Prayer" Matthew 6:5-15
How, why, and when to pray: The personality of Jesus is so beautiful! Please read: Matthew 6:5–8 here we see that Jesus is addressing all people in His masterful sermon on the mount. In these three verses, He offers insight into how we should pray, why we should pray, and when we should pray. Have you ever thought about your personal prayer life and relationship to these three critical parts to prayer?
“Say it like you mean it and mean it as you say it.” Jesus expresses that we should pray with meaning. Say it like you mean it and mean it as you say it. These comments were directed towards the Gentiles in their desire to solely get what they want out of prayer, almost bullying their god. Jesus desires intimacy and relationship and it first starts with authentically meaning everything that you say when you reach out to God in prayer. Are there ways in which you need to slow down your prayer life and make it less like a drive-through restaurant and more like an opportunity for intimacy, creating space for God to unveil His will for you?
3 “For some, it was better not to learn of the father at all than to have learned of Him incorrectly.” Have you struggled with the horror that this world has seen? Have you struggled with unexpected and unforeseen death and illness? Jesus asks us to pray that God’s kingdom will come, and His will to be done. In my message I shared that there are two powerful takeaways from this line of the prayer. The relief of the statement that God’s will is not always done and that His Kingdom is not always present helps us to know that the pain that we experience in life is not directly from God. Some things can be explained because of the sin in this world. Does that help you knowing that your Father in Heaven is not responsible for past atrocities and your personal pain? Do you see the love in the fact that Jesus is inviting you to be a part of enforcing His Kingdom by doing His will? Is it hard to fathom a God that would love you so much that he would invite you into doing His work?
“Prayer is all about Him and everything that you need from Him to make it all about Him.” We see that the Lord’s prayer is broken down into two unique petitions. The first petition is that of exalting God and making it all about His name, His will, and His kingdom. The second petition is all about how the believer requesting provision and protection so that they can in turn continue the journey of making it all about glorifying God and successfully doing His will on this earth. Is that how your prayer life has been? Do you find yourself more often than not going to God when you have a personal need due to your own struggles and trials? How can you go about changing your prayer life to be intentionally putting God at the forefront? How can you surrender to God’s will when you ask for His assistance in your struggles?
You have 3 Enemies: In this weekend’s message Josh spoke of the fact that you have three enemies. The daily desires to be disobedient and do your own will (your flesh), the temptations of the secular world (desecrated), and the evil one (Satan). The devil is not always present in your environment but your temptations to be disobedient to God and the temptations of a desecrated world are most certainly present every day. Have you ever thought of how you can ask God to lead you away from the things that tempt you every day? We see a lot of examples of counterfeit Christianity in the world today. The number one place that we see counterfeit Christianity is secular organizations doing Kingdom work without the King. Can you see how this would be a temptation in your own life? Anytime we do an act of good without doing it in the name of Jesus there is a temptation from the enemy saying, “You see! You were able to do that thing without God. You don’t need God!”. Thoughts?
Today’s Episode is part 2 on “Partnering on the Battlefield” with Tevis Austin. We have Tevis in the studio today as we are going to do a personal one-on-one conversation about last week’s base camp topic. We will be looking at some deeper level ideas of what it means to partner with God, how this partnership with God normally playing out today versus how it should be playing out and where we see proper instruction for relationship with God in scripture as it relates to enforcing God's Kingdom today.
Today’s Episode is from one of our ministry Founders, Tevis Austin. Over a decade ago Pastor Tevis Austin was called to a Colorado Wild at Heart Bootcamp. It was at this camp that Tevis received the inspiration and call to bring a similar type of healing ministry back to Ohio. Pastor Tevis Austin works as an executive pastor at Spring Hills Baptist Church in Granville Ohio. It was at this church that he felt called to invite six men into the journey that would become Train to Reign. While not every man is still a part of the leadership team today, every man who has ever attended one of our heart restoration camps has been changed indefinitely. After a couple years of running these camps, our ministry discovered that there was a unique gap causing many camp attenders to receive the true message of Christ and receive healing but not be able to continue the journey as a result of spiritual warfare. This is when the leadership team decided to institute the "Never Let Go" Program. The Never Let Go program was an effort to continue to offer book studies, video studies, immediate invitations into next-level discipleship camps, and invitations into future leadership opportunities. We simply could not stand by idly and watch God's adopted sons and daughters be taken out by the enemy. To this day, our ministry sees to it to love and fight for our brothers and sisters just like Jesus did. He never let go and we will never intend to do so as well. Today’s podcast episode is part 1 of a 2-part series titled. "Partnering with God on the Battlefield".
The general manager of the European football team in the hit TV show "Ted Lasso" may have touched on one of the most important ways in which a mentor should truly conduct himself. When asked by the coach how to properly support a players development, the general manager simply said, "A good manager hopes you will move on. A great manager knows you will." Friends, the deepest of friendships have in common, this one desire, to make the other person royalty. Each works for and rejoices in the others, elevation, and achievements. There are no hooks in such friendships as this. There are no desires to manipulate or control. There is no jealousy or exclusiveness. There is only simply a desire for the best circumstances and events to take place in the other persons life. To love a person means to see him as God intended him to be. Do you have the great fortune of having a relationship such as this? Are you a king maker? Enjoy the episode... Its going to rock your socks off!

Scripture: 2 Corinthians
When asked about the importance of walking with God for a Christian, Author Israelmore Ayivor responded saying, “If you walk and talk with God, you will never miss the direction to your divine future. Be bold and offer your heart to be led by God.” Most Christians would agree with this statement. However, there is a looming question that sits in the in between that most Christians struggle with. That question is... how do I walk with God? To answer that question, I have in the studio with me today Ryan Mills. Ryan Mills has been with our ministry since its inception and is our forefront leader of our Tier 2 spiritual formation camps called Bootcamp Advanced. Bootcamp Advanced focus is on deeper heart healing, spiritual warfare, and most importantly listening prayer that gives you the foundation for walking with God. Just a few weeks ago Ryan led a talk on walking with God to prepare men who are getting ready to attend our upcoming Bootcamp Advanced in a few weeks. This is episode is a recap of the that basecamp session.
The human condition is predestined to experience suffering. We've seen the expression of suffering played out in many different ways throughout history. Some men and women have been able to receive grace, peace, and understanding in their suffering. For others their suffering only caused more confusion and seemed to be at the fault of some higher power or at least it was unexplainable lesson in futility. For the Christian, suffering comes with the territory, but it also comes with an invitation to relationship on a higher level, a more intimate level with Jesus Christ. That is not to say that most Christians continue to struggle with understanding their pain. However, the very few Christians who have consented to the process of becoming have gained access to intimacy with God, a call to use their suffering for the good of his Kingdom, and even deeper invitation to living a life dedicated to obedience. Today's episode is on this very topic of suffering with Steve Porter. Steve will dive deep into his experience with “MS” and how he has come to love God more and find a deeper purpose for living.
Hello and welcome to Train to Reign podcast. Kingdom discipleship that trains you to reign in his name. Today we are bringing to you a wisdom bearer episode. This episode comes from our most recent monthly base camp session where real authentic people humbly access the ancient path that God offers to us in Jeremiah 616 so that the recovery of the gospel is maintained today. we will be pulling from the wisdom of a man who is truly consented to the process of becoming more like Jesus Christ. Matt Popovich has an amazing story to tell and in this episode Matt will be diving into the concept of God’s call upon your heart for adventure. Most people spend their lives trying to eliminate risk and falsely claiming that to be adventure. However, a person’s true life becomes an adventure when the entirety of their life takes on the purpose of releasing control over their life and giving it to the adventurous heart of God. Let’s jump in to see what Matt Popovich has to say about adventure.
This prayer meditation is brought to you by Joshua and Leah Meyer.
Psa 23: 1-4
1 The Lord is my shepherd;
I have all that I need.
2 He lets me rest in green meadows;
he leads me beside peaceful streams.
3 He renews my strength.
He guides me along right paths,
bringing honor to his name.
4 Even when I walk
through the darkest valley,[a]
I will not be afraid,
for you are close beside me.
Your rod and your staff
protect and comfort me.
John 10: 2-7 & 14-16
2 But the one who enters through the gate is the shepherd of the sheep. 3 The gatekeeper opens the gate for him, and the sheep recognize his voice and come to him. He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. 4 After he has gathered his own flock, he walks ahead of them, and they follow him because they know his voice. 5 They won’t follow a stranger; they will run from him because they don’t know his voice.” 6 Those who heard Jesus use this illustration didn’t understand what he meant, 7 so he explained it to them: “I tell you the truth, I am the gate for the sheep… 14 “I am the good shepherd; I know my own sheep, and they know me, 15 just as my Father knows me and I know the Father. So, I sacrifice my life for the sheep. 16 I have other sheep too, that are not in this sheepfold. I must bring them also. They will listen to my voice, and there will be one flock with one shepherd.
These opening podcast episodes are going to be an attempt to grasp the true larger story of God and more importantly get after the truth of who God is, what is gods story, who we are in the God who made us, and how we are called to live out our story as a part of the greater story of God. That last part is exactly what we’re after today. We are talking about how to live in accordance to God’s covenantal laws found in both the Old Testament and in the New Testament. In order for us to truly take a proper and successful journey of spiritual formation we must understand how we are called to live our lives obediently to our Lord and Savior. but there has been a lot of confusion regarding which of the 613 laws in the Old Testament that we should abide by versus the new covenant that Jesus Christ gave his people in fulfilling the old. Fortunately, I have with me today Dr. Daniel Diffey who will be able to help us navigate these rough waters. Dr. Diffey is currently an associate professor of Old Testament theology at Grand Canyon seminary. He received his bachelor’s degree in history and completed an M div in Christian ministry while also obtaining his PhD in Old Testament theology. A father of three and a husband to his wife Anne, Dr. Diffey would say that he has two great passions, his first greatest passion is the need for believers to be connected in the local church and be using that connection for the greater good of expanding God’s kingdom and his second great passion is that of helping people to understand and live out the message of the Bible.
Today’s episode will be a wisdom bearer episode with none other than our Renewed Kingdoms camp founder and nonprofit leader, Jeff Schuster. In the summer of 2013 Jeff attended a Wild at Heart Bootcamp event in Colorado and felt God calling him to bring that experience back to others in Ohio. Since then, Jeff and his wonderful wife Tammy have been working in tandem to bring both mens and women’s camps to Eagle Wings Lodge in Hocking Hills, Ohio. Today Jeff will be talking about the manifest presence of God. A true Journey of discipleship requires not only receiving the revelation of God and his plans to do a great work in you and through you but also the very important matter of one taking God’s revelation on the most important journey they will ever take… 18 inches from the mind to the heart, manifesting the presence of God.
Welcome to Train to Reign podcast, Kingdom discipleship that trains you to reign in his name. GK Chesterton was quoted as saying that every generation loses the path to life and every generation is charged with his recovery. It is simply that recovery that this podcast and train to reign is all about. There are many Christians in this world that have great desires to do good for God and to be used by God to expand his kingdom. The problem is that most Christians in this world don’t fully consent to the process of heart restoration. This is probably the most critical mistake that anyone attempting to pursue a life with Christ could make. Because pursuing your own heart’s healing empowers you with the ability to be successful in the pursuit of reigning in your own kingdoms that God intended for you to have.
