We've heard it said that the only thing capable of interrupting darkness, is LIGHT. The L.I.T Code's whole existence is based on that fact. We have learned through experience that feeding into and producing thoughts from our dark sides have lead us to the brink of losing control. The path back from that phase of life could only be seen through light!
When we lead with light, we are truly capable of seeing what is going on in front of us. Imagine driving down a country road with no headlights! You are most likely going to crash. The same holds true for our mental states when we are unable to see clearly. We begin to anger easily, we start doubting ourselves, we give up easily and we end up crashing out. Tune in as we discuss the benefits of leading with thoughts that are born from light. Please like, share, and comment your thoughts! #TheLitCode #newpodcast #motivation #dailyinspiration
Over time our ego builds an alternate version of self that is equipped to deal with the rigors and toils of struggle, trauma, and adversity. Although necessary, this "alter ego" can also become detrimental down the road. You see, when this version of self is in control, it can become very comfortable in the darkness.
We know that when one's sight has become accustomed to the dark, any light will disturb their eyes. If our light is never allowed to shine, our growth is stunted! Therefore our ability to conquer it and not allow it to take over is essential for our personal evolution. That battle between you and you must happen and only one version can come out victorious.
This week we welcome Prince Daniels Jr. to the show to discuss his one on one battle with self and how the darkside almost won. Tune in as we dive deep into his journey from suicidal NFL scratch to author, professional developer, and life coach for many entertainers, athletes and professionals! Strap in, enjoy, and evolve!
In the south, football is king! From little league all the way to the professional ranks the game molds thousands of young men. To us, It's not just a sport, it's a way of life!
Lifetime legends are made on the gridiron and perhaps none are more prevalent than the coaches that help mold our boys into men. Go to any town in the South and I can almost guarantee you that one of the most famous characters there will be the high school football coach! He usually holds the respect of the whole community both young and old because his impact has spanned across generations! He has cared for and guided the sons of the community during and after their playing days and that makes him a staple in the area.
Today we share one of our high school ball coaches, Bo Barton! Coach Barton has garnered praise and adoration throughout Northeast Louisiana for his uncanny ability to come in and turn around programs that were once thought to be lost causes! Our alma mater, Rayville High School, was the site of one of the most storied turnarounds in the state. In 1971 the late, great Marvin Gaye released his 11th studio album entitles, "What's Going On?". The album featured hits like "Mercy Mercy Me", and "Inner City Blues", but perhaps his most powerful single was the album's namesake, "What's Going On?". The song served as a plea from Marvin to his people and nation to take a little time to talk and see what was going on around us in a time of national turmoil. You see during that time our nation was battling racism, murder, drug abuse, and the onset of war! Sounds familiar right? Unfortunately, Marvin and his co-writers could have written this song yesterday and it would still be just as relevant today! Mass shootings, widespread drug abuse, the threat of war, a shaky economy, and the blandishments of a "culture" that has been passed off as cool to our people by power hungry sycophants whom profit from our demise, has left us in an eerily familiar territory to that of 1971.
Today Edgar and Cortney plummet into the current state of our nation and the so-called culture that is swiftly leading to the demise of our people. Tune in as they meander through this episode and offer up their perspectives on how to shift our mindsets to overcome our status quo.
We often see people living in their success and assume that they just woke up one day and everything was great. We rarely see the work put in behind the scenes. Join us today as we sit down with the highly touted, and nationally ranked Tay'Shawn Wilson of Made Creek High School in Katy Texas! If you search for the definition of the word "feedback", you will get an assortment of complexed definitions! Here on The L.I.T Code, we simply define it as, "A response to an action or occurrence from an observer or receiver back to the source of the action or occurrence."
For example, the definitions that you would receive by searching the word "feedback", would actually be THE feedback from the search engine. It is extremely important to understand that the search engine only gave you feedback based on YOUR action of typing in a word and initiating the search!
In life we are all walking balls of feedback! The way we talk, look, dress, walk and act will all earn us feedback from somewhere and some thing. Our own bodies even work off of feedback! If you hold your breath long enough, your lungs will send feedback to your brain saying "we need oxygen" and your brain will then send feedback saying "you better breathe before you die!" That's how important it is!
Tune in as we dive into the importance of feedback, where we should accept it from, when we should apply it and how valuable it is when we learn to manage it properly! Please like, share and subscribe for more content!
Most of the time when we hear the term "hall of fame" we automatically think of sports, or entertainment. While these are primarily the fields that normally boast "hall of fame" talents and performances, we like to encourage everyday people, outside of those arenas, to strive to live hall of fame lives day in and day out. Our very own L.I.T Code Podcast cofounder, Edgar Jones was recently inducted into his collegiate alma mater's sport's Hall of Fame! While this is a big individual accomplishment, Edgar uses this episode to shine light on some of the people who contributed to his success along the way. Much like vehicles, we are equipped with our own personal set of gauges that keep us aware of when things are off within our systems. The problem arises when we form the habit of ignoring these gauges until the problem has grown too bad for us to fix ourselves. Another problem rears its ugly head when we begin to watch the gauges of others more so than our own. This can lead to the dangerous game of comparison. The truth of the matter is that each of our systems are unique to US. Your gauges may be reading perfectly fine but you create a problem out of thin air because you are trying to get yours to read what the person down the street or on social media gauges are reading. When watching someone living in their success, it's easy to assume that everything is easy and glamourous. That is hardly ever the case. Even the most successful stories have a very important chapter in them that most people neglect to read. That chapter is entitled "The Process"! This is the least "sexy" chapter of all. It doesn't boast all of the glitz and glam of the latter chapters. Contrarily it gives you a look into the ugly truths, the setbacks, and the grind of the journey. Although it is not as pretty as the other chapters, it is THE MOST VITAL chapter of all because none of the pretty parts of success exist without it! Today, Kansas City Chiefs great DJ Johnson joins us to talk about his illustrious football career from start to finish. The great thing is he doesn't omit his "Process" chapter! Tune in as he opens up about his process and how the rough parts of it catapulted his career into All Pro status! We hope that you all enjoy, and evolve! In this week's episode Robert McCune opens up about his childhood and unorthodox journey to college and the NFL through the U.S Army. Hammer's story is riddled with bouts of adversity throughout. True to a warrior's fashion, Robert met each bout head on and routinely came out bigger and better than before. True warriors never sees themselves as victims. If they fall in battle, then they have merely fulfilled their destiny. Their scars serve as badges of honor and their small defeats are only steps towards bigger victories. Robert's tale embodies just that. His hard work and ability to abandon the victim role has served him well in life and it will continue to do so as he faces his toughest battle with adversity yet. Tune in as he opens up about his upcoming prison sentence stemming from his involvement in the recent insurance fraud case between the NFL and 10 other former players, including Clinton Portis and Joe Horne. Robert issues a heartfelt apology to all involved and also spells out how he plans to squeeze some good out of what seems like a bad situation. We salute Hammer and The L.I.T Code supports him throughout his battle! Sit back, enjoy and Evolve! This is The L.I.T Code!!!
The word ignite simply means "to set afire"! We all know the impact a fire can have on everything it encounters in both good and bad ways. The key is control! An out of control fire is a dangerous, destructive force. Contrarily, controlled fire is one of the MOST powerful forces that man can utilize. Imagine this power from a mental aspect. What if you could ignite a fire in your mind, and control it? What all could you accomplish? How far could you go? How much could you overcome? How great could you be? This week, The L.I.T Code Podcast welcomes founder of IgnitHER Wellness Consulting LLC , Mr. Tarsha Johnson-Calhoun to the show to discuss her company's charge to ignite the flames of women across the country and the steps she took to ignite her own mental fire. Edgar and Cortney also discuss some of their own personal, daily, practices that help them control their fires and to fan their flames when necessary. The trio also discusses their personal ignition sources, ADVERSITY, and how embracing it was ultimately what lead to their blaze that still burns to this day. Strap in, take notes, and EVOLVE! There is an African proverb that declares "God created land with lakes, rivers and vegetation for mankind to live, and created the desert for mankind to find their souls." We will all reach a point where we must cross our desert. I can't lie like the journey will be pleasant, but I can tell you that it is a necessary part of the journey. Nothing is perfect but all is in perfect timing. Therefore the only thing we need to do is understand that as long as we continue to press forward through our deserts, in due TIME we will reach our land of fruitfulness. Each challenge, each setback, each failure all shape you and mold you into what you need to be to reap and appreciate your reward down the road. You simply have to KEEP GOING! We often hear so many negative things about the "kids today". There seems to always be a new story about a school shooting or teens deaths in our area. If we are not careful, we will give all of our attention to the bad side of the coin and fail to address the good side. Today we welcome one of the good stories in our area: Mr. Enyce Sledge! Enyce is a 17 year old, 6'4" 315 lb defensive tackle for the Neville Tigers of monroe Louisiana who recently signed on to a full ride at the prestigious Auburn University. This young man serves as a reminder that hard work, dedication, and respect still goes a long way today. Tune in and listen to what makes him tick, what motivates him, and what he look to accomplish in his future. Most importantly pay close attention to his mindset and outlook on adversity and behind the scenes work. You will NOT be disappointed! Enjoy and Evolve!
Every single human being is born an original. However many of us will die trying to be carbon copies of someone or something else. It becomes extremely easy to get away from self because of a natural impulse to please others. One must remember that it is impossible to be something for others if you are nothing to yourself. Therefore it is extremely important to remember to build YOURSELF up among all. The only true way to truly be able to give to others is out of overflow. Overfill your cup and everything around you will reap the benefits of it! This week the L.I.T Code crew urges our viewers and listeners to get selfish and make sure that YOU take the time to live for YOU and understand that everything and everyone that is supposed to be attached to the best form of you, WILL BE!!! You don't have to look for them, you don't have to go out of your way for them, they will be drawn to YOU! Tune in, enjoy, and EVOLVE!!!
Popeyes, KFC, Church's, and Chick-fil-A are all known and highly regarded for ONE thing: CHICKEN! Don't get me wrong, their menus have evolved over the years to include some great sides, drinks, desserts, and other dishes that have added to the allure of their brands, but their "light at the end of the tunnel" IS and has ALWAYS been chicken! Any and everything else that has come along with their business has been a luxury acquired during their effort to cultivate and perfect that ONE thing. We too have each been adorned with 1 special thing since birth. The trick in today's world is that a plethora of options exists. The problem is that too many options can cause a person to become "worn thin" from attempting to do too many things at once. We either end up confused or just busy doing everything while going nowhere. What if we took a page from the restaurant chains that I mentioned in the beginning and really put 100% of effort behind OUR 1 thing? What if we understood that our unapologetic pursuit of perfecting that 1 thing would draw all of the extra luxuries to us? Join us today as we discuss the importance of that 1 thing that we all have that can lead us to our tailor-made lives of overflow! Tune in, enjoy, and EVOLVE!
Nothing happens overnight. Not even overnight success! Everything is a part of a process or journey or series of events that lead up to the end result. Even our existence was a step by step process that led up to us being conceived and then born. Once we understand this, we are able to build patience and perseverance in whatever we are facing. Whether it be a new job, a new business, a new goal, or even a period of adversity, you'll find peace in understanding that it takes a step by step process to see it through. Tune is as the guys journey through this important topic! Let's EVOLVE!

Chasing success is like some of the video games that we played as children. At each level there is tougher opposition, more obstacles and the stakes get higher. At the end of each round, there is a BOSS and he or she is the hardest of that round to defeat. Their power bar is usually way bigger than yours and they have incredible armor. It also seems as if they know all of your best moves. In life that BOSS is YOU. The more successful you get, the harder it is to fight satisfaction, comfort and laziness, contentment...etc..Don't let down your guard because one slip can send you back to the previous level. Too many slips can land you right back at square 1. Strap in as the L.I.T Code crew dives into this battle with their guest Dr. Hayes! Tune in, enjoy and EVOLVE!
The word "emotion" comes from the Middle French word émouvoir, meaning "a (social) moving, stirring, agitation. We all have emotions; we are born with them. However, if we fail to gain control of them as we grow, they can literally MOVE or set our destruction in MOTION. Think back on the times you've made decisions when you were emotional. Most of the time, you lost all sense of reason and logic, because your emotions stayed true to their orginal definition. They moved through your mind, and stirred up and agitated all that they came in contact with. It's like shaking up a Coke and opening it and seeing the contents spew out all over the place -vs- opening when its settled inside and enjoying it. That's EXACTLY what happens when we make emotionally charged decisions.. All over the place on the inside becomes all over the place on the outside.. We say things we shouldn't, we do things we shouldn't and then we have to deal with the side effects of it.. Stuff gets ruined and we have to try to clean it up.. Don't allow your emotions to move your life in the wrong direction! Strap in as we move through this important topic... Tune in, Enjoy, and EVOLVE!!!
Would you let your young child run free at a beach or waterpark unattended? Would you let them take thier go karts or power wheel out on a busy street alone? Or even your teens whom have just started driving; would you send them on a busy 5 lane feeway alone?? Hopefully the answer is NO! Something in you would instinctively click on and tell you thay you have to be present, on guard and watchful at all times to keep them our if harms way!! Why don't we understand that the internet is wayyyy deeper than any pool at any waterpark? It's no place for a child to be left unattended, even your teens whom you feel like can handle it or swim in it.... We have to be diligent about paying more attention to what they are on and watching, reading, and listening to... Losing them mentally, or allowing them to drown or crash mentally, is almost just as bad as them being lost or drowned or wrecked physically! Get your antennae up and guard these kids like their lives depend on it! Because they DO! Tune in, enjoy, and EVOLVE!
You and your dream life are on a crash course with eachother... The Universe merely sent you a video message in the form of dream saying "Hey. What's up with you? I'm on the way to you but you have to meet me half way." It WILL be where it's supposed to be. The question is, WILL YOU? Will you be willing to leave behind what and WHO you need to leave behind? Will you be willing to GO? Will you be willing to defeat YOURSELF? Will you be able to block out what people say and think about you? Will you be willing to keep going even when the traffic gets thick on the way, and you catch a flat or have to detour? Will you be willing to WIN? If the answer is yes, then hit The Universe back and let it know that you are on your way to your best too..and the GPS says you're right around the corner! The need to be wanted, loved, adored, and a part of something is one of the most powerful urges in The Universe. The lack thereof at an early age can cause us to go to extreme measures to quench that insatiable thirst. The problem is, the only way that we are able to reach those extremes, is to disregard our own feelings and self value and ultimately abandon ourselves! As we get into a habit of abandoning ourselves to survive or fit in to what we THINK we want to be apart of, self sabatoge becomes second nature. We create versions of self that allow us to survive this period of time. Ironically, as we get older, we have that same burning desire to find that "us" that we abandoned long ago. Just like an abandoned home, that "us" is a shell of what it once was. The paint has faded, bushes and vines have overtaken it, and boards have rotted but the foundation is there and repairs CAN be made.. The road to find ourselves is a selfish one. One that requires us to first love ourselves unconditionally, to tell others "NO" , to build ourselves up, and to learn to only give to others out of our excess pool.. It is NOT EASY; but it IS POSSIBLE to reclaim ourselves. It merely begins with choosing YOU daily.. Tune in as we journey down both roads: Abandonment Avenue and Reclamation Road. Strap in enjoy and EVOLVE!
Pruning is defined as the act of trimming (a tree, shrub, or bush) by cutting away dead or overgrown branches or stems, especially to increase fruitfulness and growth. Sometimes addition is only achieved by subtraction. We all have habits, people and pride issues, that need to be trimmmed back at times in order for us to progress. Its all about timing and where we're trying to go. One of the hardest things to cut off is people.. Just remember that it doesn't necessarily mean they are bad people, you all just may be at different areas in life. The one thing I always keep in mind is that I have needed to be cut off before. Someone will need to trim me back in the future and someone is cutting me off right now... That fact makes it easier to do whats necessary for me to grow in MY world. So sharpen your shears, tune in, and EVOLVE!!!
We often hear people say: "I wish I could go back in time and do things over, knowing what I know now!".... Hell I have said it myself. However, I recently started to question that saying. The question I asked myself is: "Why can't I go forward knowing what I know now?" When we dwell on going back, we abandon the fact that we are still here in the present and that we have gained the knowledge we need to move forward! If you are 30 years old, and you didn' do well in your 20s, but you live to be 70, then you have a whole 40 years left to apply what you know NOW! Also, if you have children or younger people whom look to you for guidance, they are your time machine. Start applying that knowledge to them early on and cut their journey to success and mental clarity in half. STOP LIVING OFF OF WHAT COULD HAVE BEEN AND LIVE NOW.. Full steam AHEAD! Strap in Enjoy and EVOLVE!
Graduation season is upon us. This is always a great time of year because friends and family get together to celebrate the scholastic rise in rank by their loved ones. No matter the level of completion, graduation day is set aside soley for the graduates to receive their adulation for the successful conclusion of their respective levels. Most can all agree that it feels good to be recognized and celebrated. Even if it has never happened for you, you can imagine that it's a pretty good feeling to be praised for conquering a goal. If this is in fact the case, why do we wait for special occasions or holidays to honor and celebrate ourselves and eachother? The answer is simple: We have been habitually programmed to do so. The great thing about habits is that WE create them. So, imagine a world in which we make a habit of celebrating ourselves and one another for small wins, or for completing small goals, or just because! Imagine a world where we sometimes honored and praised our kids even when they mess up! Imagine being celebrated just for being the best version of yourself. We MUST make these types of scenarios our new habits. These celebrations don't have to involve the pageantry of graduation, they don't have to involve a bunch of people, or maybe, for you they do. Either way it's necessary that we combat all of the negative energy and ridicule in this world with uplifting and celebratory acts towards ourselves and one another. Tune in, enjoy and EVOLVE!
We all have our ways and all ways end in ys (Why's). However that doesn't mean that all of our ways are good ways. We carry some bad ways over from our childhood into adulthood and we also come up with excuses to keep them. We hear the excuses all the time: "I'm not a people person." , "I'm not a morning person", "I'm from the hood, I'm not college material." "I can't quit smoking to get a job." "They won't let a black man do that" , "This is all I know." .. All of these are negative affirmations that soon turn into beliefs, and we know belief to be the most powerful drug in our Universe. That side of you must go away to continue your evolution. Yet, there is no way for it to go away if you continue to breathe life into it. We must grow to the point where we tell ourselves that it is not ok and we make a habit of doing and telling ourselves the opposite. Strap in, enjoy and evolve!
Each individual has their very own story. The question is; are they aware that THEY control the pen that writes it? Every decision we make that leads to an action we take is the equivalent of us writing another part to our story. Since we decide what decisions we make, both good and bad, we are the authors. So before every decision we should ask ourselves; "What will this look like in my book?" and "Will it be a part of my story that I enjoy reading?" Also bear in mind that others will read your book. There will be some things that you are ashamed of in the early chapters. Nevertheless, find solace in the fact that you have the power to right or (write) the wrongs of chaper 3 by chapter 4. It's all up to you. Strap in and enjoy this episode as you harness the power of your pen and begin to write your book on YOUR terms! Tune in and EVOLVE!!!
We all live and exist in our own individual worlds. Each world represents our own personal garden. Just about everything in our world originates from a seed that WE plant or that we have allowed to be planted there. Just like a real garden or crop farm, the good seeds require hard work and cultivation to grow and produce. The bad seeds or weeds need very little help to thrive. Therefore we have to be extremely careful in regards to what we are planting in our "gardens". Furthermore, we must establish our definition of success and stick to it. We can't get caught looking at other's lives and defining OUR success based on what we see in their's. Set your goals, celebrate them when you hit them and cherish YOUR process. Tune in, enjoy and Evolve!
This week The L.I.T Code welcomes Jeremy "Butch" Pecina to the show. Jeremy is the co-founder & co-owner of Blue Surf Designs, a pool design and construction company in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Butch and the guys dive into who he is and the different challenges that arise when starting your own business. Butch stresses the importance of doing business face to face and he also dives into how important it is to learn through your process. Cortney and Edgar dive into treating losses as lessons and always learning through the process of transitioning. Butch leaves us with a powerful message from "The Early Bird Manifesto" ... The guys wrap up by pointing out that 3 guys, in 3 different places, from different experiences, and 1 from a different race (white/Hispanic) could come together and have positive conversations about life, in spite of the nation's current state of chaos. Tune in, enjoy and EVOLVE!
This week the L.I.T Code crew dives into Edgar's recent , personal challenge to complete a half marathon. Cortney opens up with a brief history lesson on how the concept of a marathon started. From there, they venture through the similarities between Life and Marathons. Life's journey is a long one. It is not a sprint. Some people will pass you and you will pass some but the key is to run YOUR race at YOUR pace.. The only REAL opponent is YOU! Tune in and EVOLVE!
Most parents don't consider parenting a competition. However, they are in competition with a million different opponents that are all jockeying for position in their children's mental space. The question is are we studying those opponents? Are we preparing for them? Or, have we allowed the opponents to raise our children for the sake of convenience? Handing a child a tablet can be convenient but it also gives the opposition an upper hand. In the age of ultimate conveniences, we have to be careful to not let it become cancerous! Working through adversity promotes growth. We have to find balance between adversity and convenience or we will continue to lose the competition! Tune in and EVOLVE !
In this weeks episode, the guys kill 2 birds with 1 stone as they highlight side effects and operating at full capacity. Cortney reminds us of the pharmaceutical commercials that we see on television, showing the happy family enjoying themselves. They are usually all smiles, frolicking about. The commercial will introduce the medication and boast about its ability to alleviate a certain ailment. Then towards the end of the commercial the side eddects are discussed. They are usually read in a very pleasant tone just before the commercial cuts off. They are almost passed off as something you would want. We have to pay close attention to those side effects as well as the ones associated with our daily decisions in life. After that, Edgar dives into the concept of operating at full capacity. He reminds us that in order for a new thing to come into your life, something else must be diminished in order to make room for it. He likens it to a restaurant or club that has reached the max capacity. No one else is allowed in until someone else exits. Strap in, enjoy, and EVOLVE!
In this week's episode, Edgar and Cortney welcome in Licensed Professional Counselor, Eja Johnson-Ausberry, to wade through the topic of mental health and the stigmas associated with seeking professional help for it, especially in the Black community. Eja digs in deep as she navigates through her own personal battles with anxiety and other obstacles faced in life. Edgar also chimes in and shares some of his experiences with therapy in hopes that those whom see him as a heroic figure, can recognize that he too deals with some of the same issues that they do. Cortney drives home the fact that whether we like it or not, we all allow SOMETHING to be our therapist. Whether it be substance, or sex, or solitude, or anger, or a host of other things, we often allow the wrong things to serve as therapists to us. The crew wraps up by sharing some of the avenues in which people whom may not be as financially stable can still acquire the help they need and also encourage people to at least have someone who they are able to vent to. This episode may be The L.I.T Code's most powerful to date. Strap in and EVOLVE !
This week, Edgar and Cortney explore the dangers of developing preconceived notions based on very scarce information. Cortney compares this to cosmetic implants. We have to start forming our own natural perception of other people, and cultures based on our OWN research and experiences. The guys also urge listeners to learn to respect the perspectives of others as well by illustrating two people viewing a sprite can from opposite sides. One is able to see Lemon-Lime flavored Soda and assumes that these are ingredients. The other is viewing from the side that includes the nutritional facts and he sees a whole list of ingredients. Both are willing to argue what they see and both are right, but, a simple spin of the can would reveal what both are seeing and thus allow the two parties to agree on eachothers perspectives. Pleas lock in, like, share, comment, subscribe and EVOLVE!!!
We are all walking projections of our experiences. Who we are, can be contributed to our traumas moreso than anything else. As youth, we subconsciously build a "super us" that can deal with and survive these realities. These versions of us take us a long way and bring us through that period of time. The problem arises when that "you" no longer fits in the world that the new "you" resides in. In this episode, Edgar and Cortney wade through the process of essentially killing that version of self off and absorbing it much like the process of a caterpillar becoming a butterfly. Strap in, take this journey with them, and ask yourself are you in control of the "Super You" or is it in control of you? Lets evolve!
Strap in as Edgar and Cortney inspire viewers to change their outlooks on adversity. In this episode the guys dissect the term adversity and the misconception we often have of it. They urge you to be motivated by its presence because it merely serves as evidence of oncoming growth. Be moved as you listen to them liken adversity to Life's tution and remind you of youthful days when adversity didn't exist in your mind and you simply conquered obstacles out of sheer necessity.. Please like, share, comment, subscribe to our YouTube channel, and definitely ring that bell so you can get the goods as they come. Thanks in advance. Lets EVOLVE
