You’ve heard the phrase “not all who wander are lost” and well...we’d also like to suggest that not all who wonder are lost either. We hope to talk about the big issues, ask tough questions, shuck things that cannot survive inquiry, and learn to truly love and live life. We want to talk about it all. Why is seemingly the most reasonable question to ask when faced with suffering, agony, devastation and death. This last year has been hard on a lot of people. We spent most of April talking about the difficult subject of childhood sexual abuse. 2020 felt like a long decade. With the existence of so much suffering and evil, how is it that a good God even exists? Does he get a kick out of watching us all suffer? Does he care? Does he feel anything or is he distant and detached from us while we hurt?

In this episode we are joined by our friend Bonita Hector. Bo graciously and courageously took the time to share her story of sexual abuse and recovery with the goal of educating and inspiring hope that you can not only survive but thrive after the darkest moments of life. Today she works as a child advocate with the Child Advocacy Center helping children through the investigation and post investigation of their abuse.

April is Child Abuse Prevention Month and in honor of the effort to raise awareness of child abuse and neglect, we are going to take the next couple of weeks to talk about one of four types of abuse children may experience: sexual abuse. What you are about to hear may be troubling or triggering. Listen with caution.

Hope and healing is POSSIBLE. One of my closest friends, Chris, was a heroin addict for nearly twenty years. He has been sober nearly ten. He offers quite a bit of insight into the addiction, some of the events that precipitated his battle with heroin addiction, what it did to his family, what kind of choices he has to make every single day of his life in recovery. If you are a parent of a loved one or the spouse of a loved one suffering with addiction, you DO NOT want to tune out until you have heard the solid advice he has for you. If you are drug addicted, or have a child that JUST started down that dark road, LISTEN to this man. Share it with others.

In this episode, we took the time to first talk about a few ways you can support someone experiencing a mental health crisis. Mike took the opportunity to discuss the objections and benefits of psychotropic medication. What about the "mind altering" component involved in psychotropic medication? Is it sorcery as the ancient Greek word suggested or can we view the medications as having a medical, therapeutic benefit that could save a life?

No, it's not all about the TP (though we've had intense fellowship over the direction of the roll). In this episode we share what we think is relationship GOLD--basic ideas we've learned and incorporated in a love relationship that has been flourishing for 30 years. We talk about communication, listening, arguments, and compromise, while offering examples and simple tools you can use to work through concerns.

We devoted the first segment of this episode to acknowledging and honoring William Joseph Seymour--the catalyst of the Pentecostal movement in America. Few things have been able to bridge the racial and ethnic barriers that keep us from one another like Pentecost which literally brought people together from every nation, kindred, tribe, and tongue. Seymour was a humble African American holiness preacher who led prayer meetings and encouraged people to seek God and love one another. We hope you enjoy the segment. In the second segment, Mike builds on the theme of love that was evident in the transformed life of William Seymour by taking us through I John 3:11-18 where he expounds on what it means to love the brethren. As always, thanks for tuning in and sharing your time with us. We hope by the end, you will have benefitted in some capacity.

We'd like you to share part of the journey we have been on with faith and Church. We believe some of you will relate to the struggles, frustration, and feeling out of place though you feel completely loved or accepted by God. We get it. We have felt that way too and quite often still do.
