How can you shape something that cannot be seen, touched or heard but is so powerful it can make or break your strategy? Hear how others have tried to influence their view of organisational culture and how they have made sense of the intangible and illusive ingredient we term ‘culture’

Join Brad Miller and Adam Streeter for another insightful episode on the Culture Club. For this episode they met with Vanda Murray, to discuss what Vanda looks for in the organisations she works with and the leaders and management teams that she empowers through her portfolio of Chairships and Non-Exec roles.

This episode provides a unique insight into the strategic world of a Board member AND the importance/emphasis placed on organisational culture.

Our thanks again to Vanda, for being such a great guest.

In Episode 3, Series 2, Adam and I had the privilege of spending some time discussing culture in a large, international business with it’s Group Chief Executive Officer, Charlie Cornish.

If anyone has wondered what it’s like to juggle the competing needs of shareholders, stakeholders, finances, culture and the pressures of a modern day CEO then this episode is for you.

We got to discuss all manner of topics with Charlie, ranging from the values he tries to instil in the organisation through to his own motivations.

We hope you enjoy the episode and thanks again to Charlie for being so generous with his time.

For Episode 2, of Series 2,  Adam and Brad revisit the world of professional sport and in particular football with Mark Sampson.

Mark was kind enough to share his views on culture and the role a coach/leader has to play in creating a positive, winning environment but recognising this needs to happen during the cold, dark, wet and windy winter nights as much as it does in the bright, warm sunshine of pre-season.

We discuss with Mark how he has had to alter his approach and evolve over time and how he decides what parts of his approach continue and what needs to change.

This episode is a fascinating lesson for anyone interested or involved with professional sport and in particular professional football, but will be equally appealing to those working in a results orientated environment and anyone in a position of leadership (or aspiring to be).

We hope you enjoy the episode and thanks again to Mark for his time, openness and insight.

If you would like to get in touch we’d love to hear from you, don’t be shy…

Welcome back to the Culture Club, Series 2!

In this first episode of Series 2 Adam and Brad interview Andy Wright. Andy is a prominent figure and advocate for making travel accessible to all.

He chairs a number of forums and advises a range of organisations on how best to serve travellers and those travelling with people with disabilities.

Andy is uniquely placed to challenge and support those offering travel services through his years of experience running a business focussed on accessibility and his own firsthand experience of being in a chair.

Never one to shy away from saying it like it is, his straight forward no-nonsense approach may not be for everyone but he certainly gets things done and always with the aim of improvement any experience for those with disabilities.

He has given us one of the most powerful quotes on the Club so far, where he reflects on having “…taken something that may be seen as a negative and turned it into a positive…” an inspiration for us all.

We hope you enjoy the episode as much as we enjoyed making it, we remain grateful to Andy for being so open and honest about his life story and why he sees organisational culture as being key to overcoming discrimination.

For episode 4 we venture across to the world of professional and international sport, with England goalkeeping great Karen Bardsley.

Karen was generous enough to share what it’s like to play at the highest level and compete at a World Cup, as part of England’s most successful squad since 1966.

Hear what an elite sports person has to say about the importance and impact culture can have on individual and team success...

Both Adam and I found Advita's perspective and insight really powerful and made us think.
