The Translation Insight & Perspectives tool (tips.translation.bible) collects and freely displays data from all languages the Christian Bible has been translated into to highlight the different ways cultures and languages have particular and sometimes unique capacities to communicate certain messages in exceptionally enriching ways that other languages cannot.
This is relevant to anyone interested in how hyper-multilingualism continually transforms a text and how translation is a process that fulfills a text rather than loses meaning.

Salespeople working in translation usually have a hard time keeping track of all that happens with customers, so they become very transactional.
In the meantime, account and project managers lead recurring sales, but given the different approaches that sales and project management demand, they are often underperforming.
At BeLazy we are identifying and bridging the gaps that create inefficiencies in our industry. Salespeople should be able to work with tools that facilitate follow-up automation, automated email and call logging and pipeline management.
Business management systems like Plunet, XTRF, or LBS Suite have some CRM functionality but nothing like Hubspot, Salesforce, Pipedrive, or Zoho.
Why is it so hard to use and introduce these tools? Is it really just a matter of integration? What are the main gaps? Follow this conversation to discover where the processes are failing.

Technology changes the way we communicate, and the way we communicate influences the amount of information we share with one another. And that requires new ways/workflows/technologies to process, adapt and even localize the information so it can be received on the other end of the line.
Current technologies allow the content to spread seamlessly across the globe, and if the global content was predominantly English five years ago, in 2-3 years, this changes completely because 75% of global content will be coming from outside of the English-native zone.

“More with Less” is a common refrain for localization directors. During challenging economic times, the need for localization does not go away, but as budgets are being cut, localization professionals need to get creative. How can buyers leverage their supply chain to optimize the localization spend? How is technology helping to resolve the challenge? What role do we expect Chat GPT to play in the future of localization?
In this episode, we are joined by Jonas Ryberg and Wei Zhang, two of the minds behind “The State of Localization” report from Centific, to hear how global companies respond to economic downturns without sacrificing their localization efforts.

A Personal Journey Through 30 Years in L10n (feat. Matthias Caesar)
Is there a perfect size for an LSP?
And how tech changed and changes the way we work in the language industry.
Matthias Caesar started in this industry almost 30 years ago. With his first company he learned a lot about how localization works in the 90th by collaborating with clients like Microsoft and Amazon. The EEIG (a European Economic Interest Grouping) he founded became one of only 4 Premier Localization Vendors for Microsoft in the early 2000th.
For the past 10 years his focus shifted from the world of Windows towards enterprise software and mainly SAP.
This entails a lot of process and technology consulting, increasingly agile processes.

Although LSPs of different sizes tend to compete for different types of clients there is occasionally some overlap. In a world where we are constantly reminded of all the mergers and acquisitions that are happening and where more and more translation companies are betting on size and scale as a differentiator it is important to remember that in this industry of scope, not scale, there are still plenty of opportunities for smaller competitors to win.

In this episode, we speak with Alvaro Montoya about some easy-to-implement solutions global organizations, LSPs, and virtual platforms can use to live stream in multiple languages with remote interpretation. We will be covering two different solutions:
Solution 1: Browser Extension
Solution 2: Multilingual Video Player
More specifically we will look at: 1. How do these solutions work? 2. What are the advantages and disadvantages of each solution? 3. How much does it cost to implement such solutions?
The objective of today’s discussion to show how anybody can fully understand and be able to confidently implement such solutions for her/his own organization or for her/his clients.
About Alvaro Montoya Alvaro is a Telecom Engineer from Barcelona (Spain) with an MBA from Tsinghua University (Beijing). He is fluent in Spanish, Catalan, English, and Chinese. During the last 11 years, he has been living in China working in multinational companies such as Microsoft. In 2018, during his MBA studies, he built a prototype called "Akkadu" (at that time it was a multilingual AI subtitles software to help students understand content in their own language) and participated in a startup competition sponsored by Facebook where he got the second prize. That was the beginning of Akkadu. Alvaro loves playing the piano, playing chess, watching anime, and his favorite quote is "别守株待兔,主动!" which means "don't wait for things to happen, make them happen!" If you haven't watched Game of Thrones, Lord of the Rings, or Star Wars, you cannot contact him.

It’s a known fact that Translation & Localization go well beyond language and that the industry has long embraced a combined and ever-growing human+technology approach. Many providers now position themselves as partners – with internationalization and content management as the buzzwords.
But when you go beyond that and become a growth enabler for your customers by turning their content into value, you are also reshaping the perception of the traditional LSP…

Is your In 2022, those first impressions happen online. What will people remember about your Linkedin profile after only seven seconds?
Today Tucker is joined by Stefan Huyge, globalization industry observer and reporter, Vice President of Translation at Communicaid Language Solutions Inc, and author of "The Era of Localization Influencers is here: Word-of-Mout Marketing in the Language Industry," in the February issue of MultiLingual Magazine. Stefan is an active community organizer and industry cheerleader on Linkedin and he is here to share his success and failures on the platform.
As a rough outline, we will be going straight to the source, and responding to the 20 most important things that Linkedin itself says we should be doing in 2022 to optimize our influence and grow our networks. While we recommend you check out the original article yourself (https://www.linkedin.com/business/sales/blog/profile-best-practices/17-steps-to-a-better-linkedin-profile-in-2017), we would also encourage you to check out the conversation...
As you will soon find out from Stefan and Tucker, some things on that list should be prioritized over others.... and some are just a plain waste of time.

“Impressed by the level of inadequacy shared around the world these days, we have taken it upon ourselves to make our very own collection of myths and beliefs about the translation and localization industry.” - Nimdzi Insights
The Language Industry Conspiracy Chart, first published by Nimdzi Insights in 2022, is a somewhat tongue-in-cheek look at some of the commonly held beliefs/misconceptions in the language industry and attempts to categorize them based on their distance from reality.
Needless to say, such a publication was not without controversy. Thankfully, our guest today, Adam Asnes, has never been afraid of ruffling a few feathers.
Join Tucker and Adam as we discuss some of our favorite (and most despised) “conspiracy theories” in the language services industry, and how we would recommend typically responding when you hear them.

Today we discuss the importance of Machine Translation customization and why it's hard to get it right. As a solution, TAUS just launched DEMT (Data Enhanced Machine Translation). DEMT offers an end-to-end solution to those who wish to produce customized MT output for their specific domains, without the hassle of going through the actual MT training process. It basically provides post-edited quality, domain customized output with a fraction of the price. The evaluations prove that it ensures on average 15.3% increase in BLEU scores.
In this episode, we talk with TAUS’s Jaap van der Meer and Amir Kamran to explore the effects this will have on the industry and, more importantly, on YOUR long-term MT strategy.

Global companies want to reach their users with a personalized, and understandable message that hits home and appeals to the users’ sensibilities. AI is the most effective way to achieve such a degree of personalization at scale.
A recent whitepaper from Pactera Edge, "AI localization: creating user experiences worth remembering", highlights how AI is used to fashion personalized user experiences and explains what AI localization is and how to implement it within an organization. As of the time this event is created the whitepaper is yet unpublished, though it will be posted here in the event so that all who are registered will have access in advance of joining the live stream.

Voice and the conversational AI field is flourishing. It is redefining how we interact with computers, i.e. NLP, Siri, Alexa, Google Assistant, Apple Watch. Tech giants Alibaba, Amazon, Apple, Facebook, Google, and Microsoft are investing heavily in voice technology in both hardware and software. Famed investor, Mark Cuban, recently stated, “There’s no future that doesn’t have ambient computing or voice activation. None.” However, voice tech still has significant race and gender biases (HBR, Bajorek, 2019), that have perilous implications for immigration, job hiring, transportation, surveillance, and more. One of the keys to fixing bias is the people in the room, the pipelines and retention of racial and gender diversity at companies.
Celebration of female talent and community are core goals of Women in Voice, the nonprofit with 20 chapters in 14 countries.
Women in Voice also champions female founders and VC investment in this space. Recently their partnership with the Amazon Alexa Startups team has showcased conversational AI and voice innovation from all around the world. All of this is on a mission to make society and voice technology better for everyone.
Salvo Giammarresi, Head of Localization at AirBnB, will join us on Tuesday for a big announcement. We can't share many details at this time (#nospoilers). But we can assure you that this will change the way global brands facilitate communication across borders. Read about it in the news, or hear about it LIVE with us first. Your call... (See you there...)
Note: Salvo has a packed schedule this day and we appreciate him prioritizing time with us on Tuesday, even if we don't have time to get to all of the questions from chat.
Our guest today is fluent in the language of data. (He is also fluent in metrics and insights, which are of course different things, as we will discuss in this episode of Nimdzi LIVE!.
Miguel Sepulveda is a frequent speaker and teacher on the subject of defining, tracking, and reporting localization metrics - and not just any metrics - metrics that matter! When not at his "day Job" as Global Localization Manager at King, Miguel publishes his insights (and GREAT infographics) on https://yolocalizo.com and is a regular contributor for Nimdzi Insights market research.
Yes, we will discuss ROI (return on investment) for localization programs. We will frame the conversation within the larger context of defining metrics that matter, which is to say metrics that matter to the C-Suite. Knowing your company’s (or client’s, if you’re an LSP) long-term goals and key performance metrics is just the first step... The next step requires some creativity.
For example, here are a few examples of metrics companies track in order to prove localization ROI:
What metrics should YOU use to track ROI. Well, that of course depends. Every situation is different and warrants a custom approach. But there are also some commonalities. In this episode, we will look at established best practices of mature globalization programs and discussed how these can be modified to fit specialized g11n programs (presumably, like yours).
This episode is for client-side globalization managers, vendor-side account managers and senior customer success managers, and anybody who wants to learn how to speak the language of the C-Suite - the language of data!
Join GUEST Host Renato Beninatto as he talks with Lionbridge (2021 Nimdzi 100 Ranked #2 LSP) CEO John Fennelly to mark Lionbridge’s 40 years of service to the industry. As usual, we keep it informal on Nimdzi LIVE!, and encourage you to bring your questions and comments. This is your opportunity to join LIVE in a conversation with these two well-known industry leaders.

Blockchain and Cryptocurrencies: What's it all about? For those of us in language services, these are areas with plenty of new concepts to wrap one's head around. What's real? What's hype? Why should we know about it? Design-stage localization is a powerful way to continuously release fully localized products like mobile apps, web apps, and games. Because just like localization, design shouldn’t be an afterthought but an integral part of the product development process. Admittedly, it requires change and a shift in the way you work. But with the right mindset, tools, and implementation the results can be game-changing.
In this episode, we explore the intersection of user-design and localization with our guests Niklas Hisinger, Senior Customer Success Manager at Lokalise and Romain Dahan, Product Manager at Withings.

Africa is a continent rich with diverse cultures and over 2,000 languages spoken by various ethnic groups. Exploring these dynamics is exciting, but also presents unique challenges for organizations seeking to localize their products, content, and services for African countries.
An Accra-based LSP called Bolingo Consult has been working on a Localization Africa project with the goal of generating African country guides that can be used as a point of entry into the continent. So far, guides have been developed for Ghana, Benin, Burkina Faso, and Cameroon.
Today, we will explore the vision behind this country-by-country research from Bolingo Consult and throw light on the key features of the guides.
Joining us to do so is our guest, Ady Namaran Coulibaly. Ms. Coulibaly is a language professional and holds a Master of Arts in Conference Interpreting from the Advanced School of Translators and Interpreters (ASTI) in Buea, Cameroon.
Having provided interpretation and translation services for top businesses and organizations across Africa, including working with the African Union Commission, Ady co-founded Bolingo Communications and Media Consult, a fast-growing LSP based in Ghana and the power behind the African Localization Guides. She’s down-to-earth and committed to continuous learning and personal development. Lately, her favourite hobby has been hosting Africa’s LSP Podcast, which I personally subscribe to on Spotify, though I’m sure it is available elsewhere.

In the interpreting market, there are two main artificial intelligence trends to highlight: machine interpreting and computer-assisted interpreting (CAI) tools. While Machine Interpreting and Computer-Assisted Interpreting may not be as mature as their cousins, machine translation and computer-assisted translation (CAT), the recent skyrocketing demand for remote interpreting services has fueled interest and investment into this space.
Joining us today is the gang from KUDO. KUDO is a multilingual web conferencing platform with human-powered simultaneous interpreting. Stream real-time interpretation to your live conferences. Just recently they received 21 million in oversubscribed Series A funding. We have today Ewandro Magalhães (Former Chief United Nations Interpreter and current Chief Language Officer), Dr. Claudio Fantinuoli (Researcher at Mainz University and Head of Innovation), and Barry Slaughter Olsen (25-year veteran interpreter, Professor of Interpretation at Middlebury Institute of International Studies, and VP of Client Success).

Rising l10n star, Maiju Nurminen, is having a success changing the localization process as an integral part of the What3words business having a voice at the table. About Maiju: Maiju Nurminen leads marketing and user experience localization at what3words — the tech company that’s given every three-meter square in the world an address of three random words, so far in 48 languages. She is passionate about delivering meaningful experiences across all languages, cultures, and platforms. As a translator herself, Maiju is keenly aware of the limits of translation in localizing experiences that convert. As such, she is an advocate for data-led localization, mixing localization methods, and counts design as a language. Let's talk about WHY and HOW LSPs could use Linkedin as their number one thought leadership platform. Let's discuss how video marketing + live streaming are the hottest new trend that is not going away, and how it builds authority, trust and credibility - something LSPs need to close those really big localization accounts. Let's talk about Linkedin as the hottest networking platform where success is measured in the number of conversations, which convert to real sales opportunities. Let's talk about content marketing in general, and what types of content usually lead to establishing credibility and authority. Visnja has been live streaming for B2B since November 2020 and she has personally seen success in increased visibility and the ease with which I close new sales deals. We discuss how LSPs should get on the 'video content for thought leadership' train while it's still trivially easy. The Process Innovation Challenge (PIC), hosted most recently at LocWorldWide #44, encourages and empowers the localization industry’s innovators. Participants submit a process or technology innovation and are asked to pitch their ideas in front of a live audience to the Process Dragons, who evaluate the different proposals and declare a winner. The most recent winner of the PIC was Rikkert Engels, CEO and Founder of Xillio and LocHub. Today he is joining us fresh off of taking home first place at the Process Innovation Challenge, talking about how Localization People Can Help Marketers Improve Global UX. The new innovation tests for multilingual inconsistencies on websites. A lot of websites combine several languages on a single page due to errors in the process. Removing those errors increases conversion and provides for a much better local experience. I first met Rikkert several years ago, and it has been very interesting to watch Xillio over the years as they have carved out a unique niche helping companies “connect the dots’ in their language automation and integration strategies. Today we talk about local content creation v.s. transcreation. We will cover the basics, like what is local content creation. We will discuss some of the variables that help determine if local content creation is beneficial, like type of content, industry and how "technical" the content is, available content creation resources, budgets, purpose of content. And hopefully, we will also discuss what "beneficial" means too…

Quality is a concept that is constantly evolving. For those in the language industry, whose responsibility it is to localize content into languages around the world, it can be particularly hard to pin down. Therefore, it is a frequent topic of conversation at industry conferences and events. During #LocWorldWide44, Tucker started an interesting conversation about the past, present, and future of quality management, though the conversation unfortunately got cut short… until now!
Kirill Soloviev is the CEO and Co-Founder of ContentQuo, an Estonian tech company that helps localization teams, government translation departments, and Global Top-100 LSPs lower their linguistic quality risk, improve vendor performance, and boost MT output quality at scale (via a data-driven SaaS platform that integrates with TMS solutions like Wordbee, MemoQ, and Memsource). During his almost 20 years in the industry, Kirill has served in diverse vendor and buyer roles, most notably as Global Director of Localization at Acronis (a unicorn software company offering data protection and disaster recovery solutions). In his spare time, Kirill enjoys mentoring other localization pros & attending LocLunches. He also plays musical instruments as diverse as drums, Irish tinwhistle, and ukulele (most of them badly).

RWS has announced the return of Language Weaver, the brand that first pioneered automatic language translation. Language Weaver – which combines RWS’s linguistic expertise with SDL and Iconic’s technologies – will now represent RWS’s machine translation platform. Today we talk with two of the faces behind this initiative, Dr. John Tinsley, founder of Iconic Translation Machines, and Mihai Vlad, VP of Machine Learning and Machine Translation at SDL. Both Iconic and SDL are part of RWS Group and more information can be found at https://rws.com History of Language Weaver: Founded in 2002 Language Weaver was first to commercialize new approaches to automatic language translation based on machine learning. Its rich history and cutting-edge technology shaped the future of the language translation industry. Acquired by SDL in 2010, the Language Weaver brand was retired in 2015 and renamed SDL Machine Translation. The technology – through continual investment – evolved from statistical machine translation to neural machine translation, capable of instantly translating content across 2,700 language combinations. RWS acquired SDL in 2020, and is now bringing back the Language Weaver brand. More about Language Weaver capabilities: Building MT models has traditionally been exclusively reserved for specialists. Decades of collaboration between linguists, engineers and researchers has resulted in a simplified solution that opens up MT to everyday business users. The Language Weaver platform allows anyone to provide real-time feedback on translations and fine-tune generic language models. Behind the scenes the platform also constantly looks for ways to improve the quality of translations. RWS’s team of expert scientists and consultants are always on hand to advise on and develop bespoke solutions for customers with complex requirements. Language Weaver benefits any business or industry dealing with multilingual content. It is already being used by organizations to communicate and collaborate with customers in multiple languages, public sector organizations for content intelligence, and law firms for eDiscovery. As a critical application with unrivalled scalability and security, it can be integrated with any software or platform – from Microsoft Office, to Chatbots and eCommerce platforms – giving businesses the ability to understand any type of multilingual content. LIVE Pop-up Event with Iryna Rogova! We are talking Geopolitics today, so please bear with us!
Apparently, these days, everything is taken as a direct offense and treated with a mutual backlash. Once a concern over forced labor of Uyghurs in the region of Xinjiang was publicly expressed by the retailer, it launched a whole national boycott, most likely enforced by the Chinese government. And again, one can see how Chinese marketing works. Their culture of influencers and celebrities as a primary marketing (or should I say anti-marketing) tool for any product is unequivocally powerful.
