In the Compassionate Voices, you'll find inspirational and contemplative content to aid you when you're in a difficult situation. I geared this item toward people who are going through a traumatic experience or who have just received a life-threatening medical diagnosis. Besides having a successful career as a Maxillofacial Trauma Surgeon, I worked as a member of the Trauma Surgery team for almost 30 years before I left my practice due to bone marrow cancer. Over the course of 30 years, my background and personal journey both in a personal fight with Stage III cancer and a subsequent decision to become a cancer warrior (as a way to help others through fear and hardship) created within me a passion to help those who are dealing with interruptions in their life's course and are uncertain about their future. The disease that Dr. Bissell has does not have a cure, so it is treated medically. However, as a result, he had to face the realities of dealing with life-long cancer. His desire is that you will find a place in the world where you are accepted and loved for who you are. Every minute is filled with such critical importance for a human being, and thus he seeks to guide others in seeing that every moment is so precious.
The seaside state of Maine is home to some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Wandering along these beaches, you'll feel like you're in another world. The tranquility of these beaches is overwhelming, and it's difficult to believe that you're a few miles from a bustling city. Maine towns all have a certain charm to them, and Old Orchard Beach is no exception. A town like this reminds you that there's beauty in the simplest things. It's hard to believe that such a serene place could be so close to a bustling city like Portland. As soon as you step into Maine, you'll feel as though you've stepped back in time. There's a certain coziness and warmth that comes with this place. Maine is a state full of natural beauty, and it's a place where you can always find something to do. What I love most about Maine is that you can visit it as a local and feel as though you're visiting your own backyard.
Everything feels familiar and you're welcomed by the people like you've gone back in time. The streets are lined with picturesque seaside towns, and the water is as clear as it can get.

Transplantation of the patient's own stem cells can be an effective treatment for blood malignancies including leukemia and multiple myeloma. Stem cell transplantation is sometimes known as high-dose chemotherapy, bone marrow transplantation or transplantation of umbilical cord blood. The procedure involves replacing damaged blood-forming cells with healthy ones. A stem cell transplant will be performed in two distinct stages one after the other. The first phase is a straightforward, one-step process that is completed in a matter of hours. The second phase involves using stem cells from the patient or a donor to repopulate the patient's blood cells. The time it takes to feel back to normal after undergoing a stem cell transplant might range from a few days to several weeks. Adverse effects may include infections, fevers, or headaches. There is also the possibility of long-term health repercussions, such as weakening bones or an increased risk of certain infections. Be sure to give great attention to the directions that your physician gives you for taking medications.

I know firsthand how devastating a diagnosis of cancer or other life-threatening diseases can be not only on myself but on those I love. About 2 years ago I was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma which is a non-curable form of bone cancer. I underwent an extensive regimen of chemotherapy, radiation therapy, many surgeries, bone-strengthening medication, and targeted antibody infusions. I entered a time of remission, however; I knew the tables could turn against me and I would be back on medications again fighting to knock down this invisible demon. Sure enough, I’m presently facing a relapse of my disease and will start once again on different meds to once again enter that magical time of remission. I learned many things along my journey these past couple of years. The most important was the realization that no matter what happens to us, we must use our miracle status of the gift of life to change the world for the better. We can use whatever life we have to help others through their moment of trial and give them the knowledge of how life challenges can not only change us for the better but can allow them to see their world differently. Creating The Compassionate Voices Podcast is to help those who have through no fault of their own have begun a journey into an unknown yet actual process within their bodies. We live during a time when rapid change and growth are occurring. It is a time when I see hope on the horizon where treatments and cures can and are in abundance. We need to see such a change in positive tones not coated by fear. I hope that those with the same vision will gather to change our world vision and help each other explore, understand, and envision a world based on principles and ideals we will discover together. Turning Thoughts into ActionWe tend to judge people based on their actions rather than their words. The difference between people is not what they say they will do, but what they actually do. Knowledge is not power, but rather potential power. When you take action, you put an idea into action and use your will to do something in order to achieve a specific goal. As you make an idea a reality, you express something that was previously internal. The real power is in what you do with what you know and how you use it. Knowing isn't enough. We must act and apply what we know in order for something intangible to occur. When you act on an idea, you set in motion a series of events, the full consequences of which you are not always aware. It doesn't take many ideas to make a difference in your life. To get what you really want, you need ideas that you can use and act on. It's rare that you want information or ideas because they're almost always just a means to an end. What you actually do, not what you say you will do, will determine the quality of your life. Investigate pretending and doing, and apply this concept in your daily life. Seek out treatment for your illness, don't just talk a good game about what you'll do.
Maintaining a healthy lifestyle will provide you with additional energy during the treatment process. There are many support groups for cancer patients and survivors. Never be afraid to seek help from family and friends. Your loved ones can assist you with small tasks and errands such as grocery shopping or housekeeping. Someone who has cancer still needs to smile and enjoy life; your disposition can be contagious. The best way to keep a positive attitude is to lighten your friend's mood. It is critical to read the warning labels on a wide variety of products. No one can cure cancer, but there are things you can do to improve your health and attitude.
