As a solo-gigging musician, I have a few "standing" gigs but I also have the occasional opportunity to work other, different venues. This is a normal part of a musician's life so I address my most recent weekend where I worked an outside event, a church service and a funeral. All three acoustic but very different regarding their musical needs.

Call it "middle-aged dude trying to still be Superman" or whatever....stuff happens. I sustained a very minor yet painful injury to my chording hand which caused me to build-in some workarounds to my playing. As of this recording, I'm actually doing much better but for several weeks, I felt like I needed to make some adjustments to my guitar playing so that's what I chat about as I drive to a July 4th gig in the Great Smoky Mountains.

The life of a part-time musician comes with lots of satisfaction as well as temptation. I decided many years ago to not "break the bank" on equipment but occasionally I find myself needing more than I currently own (or can afford). This episode I chat about three gigs I have this weekend whereas additional gear is truly a necessity. I probably look pretty funny hauling all the rented gear around in my Toyota but at least the sound I'll produce will be first class. Be sure to like, share and subscribe. Full-time, professional musicians are expected to have this every performance.
