Weekly messages from Divine Savior Church in Doral, FL. Our mission is “Changing lives with Jesus as we worship, connect and serve.” We would love for you to be a part of it!
Four fishermen were doing what fishermen do — casting nets, mending nets, thinking about the next catch. Then Jesus walked by and said two words that changed everything: "Follow me."
In Matthew 4:18-22, Jesus calls Simon Peter, Andrew, James, and John before they understand where this is going, before they feel ready, before they've proven anything. He doesn't wait for a resume — He simply invites them into relationship with Himself. And "immediately" — no hesitation, no negotiation — they leave their nets, their boat, even their father, and follow. That same call still reaches ordinary people here in Doral, Miami, Miami Gardens, Hialeah, and across South Florida today.
Continuing the "Discipleshift: From Infancy to Adulthood" series, Pastor Ben Kuerth walks through Matthew 4:18-22 to unpack what it actually means to follow Jesus — not information mastered or boxes checked, but a relationship that changes who you become and where you're sent.
If you've ever wanted Jesus on your own terms — convenient, comfortable, only when it's beneficial — this message is for you. A disciple isn't defined by how much they know. A disciple is defined by who they follow.

Is God being too kind? A prophet gets exactly the outcome he prayed for — and it makes him furious. Not because God failed him, but because God showed mercy to people Jonah never wanted forgiven.
In the final chapter of Jonah, the story takes an unexpected turn: after Nineveh repents and God relents from judgment, Jonah — the very man who just watched an entire city turn to the Lord — sits down outside the walls and sulks. His real problem was never that God is unjust. It's that God is gracious to people just like the ones we live next to in Doral, Miami, Miami Gardens, Hialeah, and across South Florida — people we might not have chosen to forgive ourselves.
In this final message of the "Relentless Love" series, Pastor Caleb Schmiege opens Jonah 4:1-11 to ask the question the whole book has been building toward: are we truly happy that God is gracious and merciful to everyone, or do we want Him to only favor people like us?
If God's compassion has ever felt unfair to you — because of who it included — this message is for you. His love was never meant to have a border, a list, or an exception clause. It reaches everyone. It reaches you.

Is anyone ever too far gone for God? A runaway prophet. A violent, pagan city. By every human measure, both were lost causes. God disagreed.
In Jonah 3, the word of the Lord comes to Jonah "a second time." God is a specialist in second chances — not just for Jonah, but for everyone. He recommissions His reluctant, flawed messenger and sends him into Nineveh, a city that seemed beyond saving. And when God's Word goes out, it does not return empty: the entire city — from the king down — turns to the Lord.
In this third message from the "Relentless Love" series, Pastor Ben Kuerth opens Jonah 3:1-10 to show us a God who seeks the lost — a God whose mercy has no borders, who uses imperfect people to carry His perfect Word, and whose message of hope reaches into the most unlikely places.
If God can restore a runaway prophet and rescue Nineveh, He can reach the person you've been praying for. He can reach you.

When you hit rock bottom, it can feel like God has abandoned you. But what if the end of your rope is actually the beginning of His rescue?
From the belly of a fish — the lowest, darkest place imaginable — Jonah prayed. And he discovered something surprising: what first looked like a prison was actually a place of protection, a space where he could finally let go of his pride and confess, "Salvation is from the Lord."
In this second message from the "Relentless Love" series, Pastor Caleb Schmiege opens Jonah 2:1-10 to show us a God who is near — not distant — in our lowest moments. A God who meets us in the depths, not to punish us, but to bring us back up and give us a second chance.
And Jonah's three days in the deep point us to an even greater rescue: the One who spent three days in the earth so that we could all be raised to new life.
Wherever the depths find you today — despair, regret, or your own running — God is closer than you think.

Ever feel like you could just sail away from your problems — or from God Himself? Jonah didn't just turn down a job assignment. He tried to put an ocean between himself and the very Source of his life, running from a calling that didn't fit his comfort or his prejudice. In this first message from the "Relentless Love" series, Pastor Ben Kuerth opens Jonah 1:1-17 to show us a God who is far too loving to let us go — even when we run. Sometimes He allows a "storm" in our lives, not to punish us, but to rescue us from ourselves and bring us back to His mercy. Because here's the truth Jonah discovered the hard way: you cannot outrun a God who is everywhere, and you cannot outlast a love that will not quit. Wherever you're running today — from a calling, a conviction, or a community — His relentless love is already in the boat with you. 📖 Primary Scripture: Jonah 1:1-17 📖 Supporting Text: Psalm 139:1-12 | Romans 3:9-20 📅 Series: Relentless Love

What do you do when life makes you doubt God's love? Suffering. Injustice. Personal pain. These things can shake even the most faithful believer. If God is love — why does it feel this way? In this message from the "Branches" series, Pastor Ben Kuerth opens 1 John 4:13-21 to show us that God's love is not a sentiment — it is action. Demonstrated supremely in the sending of His Son, Jesus Christ, to be the Savior of the world. And here's the power of that truth: perfect love drives out fear. The fear of judgment. The fear of not being enough. The fear that God has given up on you. All of it — cast out by the love of a God who proved His love at the cross. Because of Jesus, you can stand before God with real, unshakeable confidence. Not because you love perfectly, but because He does. And when that love fills you, it overflows into how you love others — becoming a living testimony of His grace, leading those around you from fear into faith.

What does it look like to love the way Jesus loves? Not just words. Not just feelings. But real, sacrificial, costly love. In this message from the "Branches" series, Pastor Ben Kuerth opens 1 John 3:16-24 to show us that agape love — the selfless, self-giving love modeled by Jesus — isn't a feeling. It's a choice. And it's made possible through Christ's resurrection. Jesus laid down His life for us. That's the standard. And by His Spirit, we are empowered to love each other with that same kind of radical, tangible love. That means showing up. Giving generously. Being present even when it's inconvenient. And here's the grace-filled truth: even when your heart condemns you, God is greater. His love secures your identity. You are His child — not because you love perfectly, but because He loves you perfectly. Bear real love. Start today.

What does it actually look like to be a child of God?
Not just in name — but in reality?
In this message from the "Branches" series, Pastor Ben Kuerth opens 1 John 2:28–3:10 to show us that being united with Christ through His resurrection isn't just a title — it's a transformation. Jesus' victory over sin and the devil is not just history; it's personal. And it changes everything about how we live.
You are not merely labeled a child of God. You are truly adopted into His family.
That identity shapes your future hope and your present choices. According to John, authentic Christianity is marked by doing what is right — not to earn God's favor, but because you already have it. As His children, we are called to live with moral clarity in a culture of confusion — and to keep coming back to repentance and grace.
Like a championship team that already knows it won — we live from victory, not toward it. The resurrection of Jesus is your confidence. Now go bear real fruit.

There's something uncomfortable most of us would rather avoid: the reality of our own sin. But here's the truth — you can't be fully alive until you're honest about the darkness. In this message from the "Branches" series, Pastor Ben Kuerth opens 1 John 1:1–2:2 to help us face the crisis of sin head-on — and discover the stunning solution that only Jesus provides. His sacrificial death and resurrection don't just forgive the past; they cleanse us completely and restore our relationship with God. The resurrection isn't just a historical fact — it's a transformative power that grants a new identity, eternal life, and confident fellowship with God. Just like sunlight exposes the grime on a window, God's light reveals what's hidden in our hearts. And only one thing can truly clean it: the blood of Jesus. You don't have to stay stuck. You can come alive to resurrection power. You can be Alive and Pure.

Life is a race. You have to run it. And it's not always easy — there are hills, obstacles, and moments when you want to quit. So how do you keep going? In any race, you keep your eyes on the finish line. And in the race of life, that finish line has a name: Jesus. On this Pentecost Sunday — the day the Holy Spirit came to empower the Church — Pastor Ben Kuerth opens Hebrews 12 to show us something incredible: the same God who sent His Spirit to fuel His people is also the One cheering us on, right alongside the faithful who ran before us. The sufferings He allows along the way aren't meant to break you — they're meant to build you. Your Heavenly Father wants you to finish this race even more than you do. Jesus didn't just set the example. He ran His race all the way to the cross — for you. He crossed the finish line. He made it possible for you to experience eternal joy with Him. That is the hope that carries us through every hard step. Fix your eyes on Jesus. He is the way. He is the finish line. 📖 Primary Scripture: Hebrews 12:1-13 📖 Supporting Text: Acts 2:1-21 | 1 Corinthians 12:3-11 | John 7:37-39

There are two things people say you can count on in life: death and taxes. What if one of them no longer has the final word?
No matter how well life goes — or how hard it gets — death is the one reality none of us can outrun. Pain, loss, and suffering are real. And no self-help strategy, no amount of willpower, no human philosophy offers a real answer to the deepest fear we all carry. We need something more than hope. We need something that has actually conquered the grave.
That's exactly what Christianity offers. Not just a beautiful story. Not just a moral system. An actual person — raised bodily from the dead — who says: "Because I live, you also will live." In this message, Pastor Ben Kuerth opens Hebrews 11 to show us a long line of faithful men and women who pressed on through suffering, loss, and even death, because they were looking forward to something better. Their hope wasn't wishful thinking — it was anchored in the God who keeps His promises. And that same Jesus who conquered death is our resurrection too.
If you're carrying the weight of grief, fear, or uncertainty about what comes next — this message is for you.

What if trying harder is the wrong strategy altogether? What if the whole problem isn't effort — it's debt? We live in a world that tells us the Christian life is about being better, doing more, improving yourself. But that approach always ends the same way: frustration, burnout, and a nagging feeling that you're still not enough. The truth is, guilt and shame are real — and no amount of trying can pay what we owe. Forgiveness always costs something. Someone always has to pay. The stunning news of Hebrews is this: God didn't demand our blood. He offered His own. In this message, Pastor Ben Kuerth opens God's Word to show us that Jesus gave His life as the one-time, all-sufficient sacrifice for every sin — past, present, and future. That's not a call to be passive. That sacrifice is the very thing that frees and fuels us to live the joy-filled life God designed for us. Because when you truly know what Jesus did for you, you don't have to be motivated by guilt anymore. You get to live from grace.

Life can feel like one long trial — constantly trying to prove to others (and to yourself) that you're good enough, that you measure up, that you belong. The verdict feels like it's always still out. But what if the courtroom isn't actually the problem? What if you just need a better Advocate? In this message, Pastor Ben Kuerth opens Hebrews 4:14–5:3 and 7:18–27 to introduce us to the only Advocate who can truly stand in our place. Jesus doesn't simply plead our case before God — He demands justice on our behalf, because He has already paid the full price for our sin. Through His perfect life, sacrificial death, and victorious resurrection, He has given us a completely new identity. The guilt is gone. The shame is silenced. The verdict is settled. And in its place, we are given courage and joy to face every disappointment and discouragement life throws at us. Because our Advocate has already won — we win, too.

You weren't made to grind forever. You were made for rest — and only one Person can truly give it to you. We live in a culture that never stops. Work follows us everywhere. Even our vacations feel like obligations. We find our worth in productivity — and real rest feels impossible. But God designed you for something better. In Hebrews 4, we discover that true rest isn't a reward you earn — it's a gift Jesus gives. In this message from Hebrews 4:1-13, Pastor Ben Kuerth shows us that the rest we're all desperate for can only be found in Jesus — our Good Shepherd who carries what we were never meant to carry alone. When life feels hard and the journey is long, you need more than advice — you need a Word that can carry you through. Jesus isn't just a guide pointing us toward God. He IS the living, resurrected Word of God — speaking directly to you, walking with you, giving you exactly what you need.
In this message, Pastor Ben Kuerth explores Hebrews 1:1–4 and 2:1–4 to show us that Jesus is the ultimate, final Word from God — greater than anything that came before. This isn't just ancient history; it's a lifeline for today. When you feel alone on a difficult journey, Jesus is God's voice assuring you: You are not alone. The people wanted victory, power, and overthrow. Instead, Jesus came riding on a donkey, bringing humility, sacrifice, and salvation. He didn’t come with a sword—He came with a cross. He didn’t come to meet expectations—He came to save souls.

One Heart, One Mission | Jesus’ Prayer for Unity (John 17) | Jesus Unplugged
Welcome to our Sunday worship stream from Divine Savior Church with Pastor Ben Kuerth.
In this message from our Jesus Unplugged series, we step into one of the most powerful and personal moments in Scripture—Jesus’ prayer on the night before His crucifixion (John 17:1-26).
What’s incredible is this: Jesus didn’t just pray for His disciples—He prayed for YOU. He prayed for all who would believe in Him, asking that we would be one just as He and the Father are one.
In a world marked by division, tribalism, and constant outrage, Jesus calls His Church to something radically different. He unplugs our addiction to self, pride, and separation, and invites us into a unity that reflects heaven itself—diverse, unified, and grounded in truth.
This message challenges us to live out that prayer today: to pursue unity, to love deeply, and to stand firmly in God’s truth as one body in Christ.

Welcome to our Sunday worship stream from Divine Savior Church with Pastor Ben Kuerth. In this message from John 14:15–31, we discover a powerful truth: Jesus did not leave His followers alone. Instead, He promised the Helper—the Holy Spirit—who brings His very presence and power into our lives.
In a world filled with distraction, pressure, and the fear of not being enough, Jesus offers something far greater than inspiration. He offers transformation. When Jesus promised the Helper, He promised that God’s Spirit would live in us, guide us, teach us, and empower us to live like Him. The Holy Spirit is not just encouragement for hard days—He is the living presence of Christ working within us.
In this message, we explore how Jesus “unplugs” the lies that we are not strong enough, faithful enough, or capable enough to follow Him. Through the Holy Spirit, Jesus fills us with His peace, His strength, and His power so that we can live a life that reflects Him.

Where Leaders Wash Feet | Jesus Rewrites Greatness with Humility
Jesus Unplugged series
In this Sunday message from Divine Savior Church, Doral as part of the Jesus Unplugged series, we explore the Gospel of John 13:1–17 and the stunning moment Jesus washes His disciples’ feet. In a world that pursues charisma, power, and influence, Jesus doesn’t ascend a throne — He kneels with a towel. He shows that true leadership isn’t about status, applause, or platforms, but about humble service and sacrificial love.
Through the lens of Scripture, we’ll see how Jesus unplugs our obsession with greatness and reveals a kingdom where glory is found in stooping low for others. We’ll also consider how the Old Testament promise in Isaiah 42:1–4 and the example of Christ’s obedience in Hebrews 5:5–9 deepen our understanding of servanthood.

Message: Investing in What Lasts
Series: Return to Sender
This Sunday at 9:30am, Pastor Ben Kuerth brings the final message in our Return to Sender series: “Investing in What Lasts.”
In 1 Timothy 6:17–19, God reminds us that what we give in His name is never wasted. The treasures of this world fade, but a life of generosity, surrender, and faith leaves an eternal impact. Every time we give, serve, or love in Jesus’ name, we are returning His gifts to Him — and He uses them to change lives forever.
As we close this series, we celebrate the joy of investing not in temporary things, but in eternity.

The One Thing Needed | Return to Sender | Luke 10:38–42
This weekend we’re taking time to focus on something our hearts desperately need but often overlook: the one thing truly needful. In a world full of noise, hurry, and endless distractions, Jesus invites us to slow down, sit in His presence, and let His Word give us rest, clarity, and purpose.
We’re blessed to welcome a guest preacher from Martin Luther College, Pastor Dave Scharf, who will share a message from Luke 10:38–42 and help us reflect on what it means to build our lives around the one thing our souls truly need. He’ll also share how God continues to raise up pastors, teachers, and staff ministers to serve His church — and how we can encourage the next generation to consider the joy of public ministry.
This fits beautifully within our Return to Sender series. As we talk about giving God our time, talents, and treasures, it’s important to focus on how Jesus first gives us Himself. He centers us. He fills us. He reminds us that everything begins with receiving His grace.

Everything Belongs to God | Return to Sender – Matthew 25:14-25
At Divine Savior Church, Pastor Ben Kuerth continues our “Return to Sender” series with a powerful message from Matthew 25:14-25 — “It All Belongs to Him.” We explore the truth that everything we have — our time, talents, and treasures — ultimately belongs to God. We are not owners; we are faithful stewards of what God has entrusted to us.
In this message, Pastor Ben unpacks what joyful stewardship looks like when we recognize God’s ownership of all things. Drawing from Genesis — where God entrusts humanity with His creation — we see how stewardship begins with understanding God as the source of every blessing. Scriptures like Psalm 24:1-6 remind us that “The earth is the LORD’s and everything in it,” and James 1:16-18 emphasizes that every good and perfect gift is from above and that we are the firstfruits of His blessings.
Whether you’re seeking to grow in faithful stewardship, clarify your calling, or deepen your trust in God’s provision, this message will challenge and encourage you to live with a greater sense of responsibility, gratitude, and joy.

“Building the Body Together” based on Ephesians 4:11–16.
This message connects the themes of spiritual growth and mission. God’s Word shows how the church equips believers to mature in faith and love, strengthening the body of Christ to reach the world. We are reminded of our collective pursuit of maturity and the church’s calling to impact others through a united and growing community.

Hearts Made Ready Through Hope | John 1:29–42 | The Lamb of God
Welcome to our Hearts Made Ready Christmas series at Divine Savior Church Doral. Join us every Sunday at 9:30am as we prepare our hearts to receive Christ through God’s Word.
In John 1:29–42, John the Baptist points to Jesus and boldly declares, “Look—the Lamb of God!” With this powerful testimony, John directs weary and waiting hearts to the One who truly takes away guilt and sin. Jesus is not only the promised Savior—he is the source of real hope, lasting peace, and a future we can trust.
This message, Hearts Made Ready Through Hope, reminds us that Christmas is about more than anticipation—it is about recognition. Like the first disciples, we are invited to look to Jesus, discover the hope he offers, and follow him with trust. Through Christ, God brings forgiveness for our past, peace for our present, and confidence for our future.
As our hearts are made ready through hope, we are also called to share that hope with others. Whether you are exploring faith, seeking encouragement, or growing as a disciple, this message will help you see Jesus more clearly and trust him more deeply this Christmas season.

Zechariah’s Song: Celebrating God’s Faithfulness Before Christmas
After months of silence, Zechariah’s first words were not complaints—but praise. In this powerful message, Pastor Ben Kuerth reflects on Luke 1:67–79, where Zechariah rejoices in the faithfulness of God. Despite his doubts and silence, Zechariah saw God’s promises unfold, culminating in the coming of the Savior. His Spirit-filled song reminds us today that even in uncertain times, God is merciful, faithful, and always at work.

This Sunday at Divine Savior Church, Pastor Ben Kuerth explores Luke 1:26–38, 46–55, showing how Mary’s story reveals the heart of the Christmas message: it’s not about what we do for God, but about what God has done—and continues to do—for the world.

Hearts Made Ready Through Repentance | Advent at Divine Savior
The Christmas season often leaves us scattered, stretched thin, and overwhelmed by everything we think we must do. But Advent reminds us: true preparation doesn’t come from doing more—it comes from returning home.
In today’s message from Luke 1:5–25, Pastor Caleb Schmiege leads us through the announcement of John the Baptist’s birth—a pivotal moment in God’s plan to turn hearts back to Him. As we begin our Advent series Hearts Made Ready, we are reminded that the season starts not with decorations or busy schedules, but with repentance.
Through the story of Zechariah and Elizabeth, God shows how He faithfully prepares the way for Jesus by calling His people back—back to forgiveness, peace, and a new beginning. This message invites us all to come home to God.

In this powerful message from Pastor Grant Hagan, we explore Ruth chapter 3 and what it reveals about faithfulness, integrity, and God’s providence. How should Christians respond when tempted to manipulate situations or use others for personal gain? What does true faithfulness look like when life is hard and no one is watching?
Through the example of Ruth and Boaz, we learn that godly character is shown in quiet obedience, sacrificial choices, and unwavering trust in God's plan. Pastor Grant challenges us to live with integrity even when it’s difficult, just as Christ remained faithful through suffering for our sake.
Join us this Sunday as we worship together and are strengthened by God's Word. We also joyfully welcome the DSA 3rd graders and their families, who will sing and celebrate with us in worship.

It's all about your performance | Satan's Sleight of Hand
Grace, Not Performance: Freedom in Christ – Romans 3:19–28
This Sunday at Divine Savior Church Doral (9:30 a.m.), Pastor Caleb concludes our impactful series, “Satan’s Sleight of Hand,” with a message that hits close to home: “It’s all about your performance.”
Everywhere we turn—school, work, relationships, social media, even inside the church—we feel the pressure to perform, to prove our worth, to measure up. But that’s one of the oldest lies of the enemy. The truth of the Gospel sets us free: our worth isn’t determined by what we do but by what Christ has done for us.
In Romans 3:19–28, the Apostle Paul reminds us that righteousness is not something we earn, but something we receive. Through Christ’s finished work on the cross, we are declared righteous, forgiven, and loved — not because of our performance, but because of His perfect grace.
Come and experience the assurance of God’s grace through His Word and Sacrament. Find rest for your soul, freedom from guilt, and the deep joy of knowing your identity is secure in Jesus Christ.
✨ Join us in person or online — as we close out “Satan’s Sleight of Hand” with a message that will help you let go of striving and rest in God’s amazing grace.

That Sin Can’t Be Forgiven (?) | Satan’s Sleight of Hand
One of Satan’s most damaging lies is this: “God could never forgive that.” In this message from our series Satan’s Sleight of Hand, we look at how guilt, shame, and self-condemnation can trap us in hopelessness.
This weekend, guest preacher Missionary Zach Satorius opens up the tragic story of Judas Iscariot—a man who walked with Jesus but believed the lie that his sin was too great to be forgiven. His story shows us the danger of unresolved guilt and the desperate need we all have for self-forgiveness rooted in Christ’s mercy.

When life brings suffering, the question isn’t “if” but “when.” The real question is: How will you experience it?
Do we fall into pity, living as victims in the darkness, or do we hold to the truth that changes everything?

Discover how the ultimate victory was won on the cross 2,000 years ago—and how Jesus’ resurrection proves that God is faithful and trustworthy.

1 Timothy 1:12-17
It all starts with understanding your view and an understanding of your identity. Think about it, what type of mirror are you using? Are you using the carnival mirror which distorts your image? When I have a disordered understanding of my own identity it impacts my emotions, relationships, and purpose in life. Or are you using a real mirror which clearly shows who you are? This type of mirror shows who we really are and reveals our need for rescue from ourselves. It helps reorientate ourselves with the one who created us. The first truth to focus on is our real identity, not the one we’ve created for ourselves.

Small things can have a big impact. A simple "Hello" tied to a smile can change someone's day. A well-timed compliment or "Thank you" can encourage someone when their heart is feeling down. A small seed can grow into a flower, a bush, even a tree. God's kingdom sometiems appears small. It sometimes looks to be insignificant, but God causes it to grow and grow and grow. He causes it to grow in people's hearts. He causes it to grow through the work of the church. He causes it to grow as you love, care for, encourage, and speak to others. It may seem small, but it has a big impact.

Message: Recklessly Scattered
Series: The Kingdom

Matthew 13:1-9,18-23
We've realized that the kingdom is something incredible and more valuable than anything we could ever own. It is ours freely through repenctance. We are part of the kingdom because we have been forgiven and we can extend forgiveness. God's gracious invitation to a celebration is so good, and yet when we speak about it to others it can be met with confusion, question, anger, and rejection. Why? The effects of sin go down deep into the soil of our hearts. We must rely on the Holy Spirit to cultivate hearts to be prepared for the gospel, so that God's powerful message can take root. Yet, though it may be misunderstood, or questions, or rejected, our King still calls us to recklessly scatter his words and promises. The harvest will be plentiful, and we can celebrate with him again.

What's the cost of entry? Whether it's the theme park, ball park, or skate park - it likely isn't free to get in. What about the magnificent, marvelous kingdom of God? What would it cost us to get in? It's not a material amount, and it's not some great deed that we can do, but there is a cost. The cost of humility. The cost of setting aside our pride and allowing God to carry us. The cost of repentance, which turns to God to receive his mercy, favor, and grace - all which he is so willing to give us, so much so that he didn't seem to even think twice about the great cost of forgiveness to him. He gave up his only Son, and Jesus gave up his life so that we could know this forgiveness. What a blessing! What a kingdom! What a king!

Message: The Secret of Contentment
Series: Shine Like Stars
Service Host: Pastor Caleb Schmiege
Some days go well and some don’t. Some days we feel like we’re on top of the world, and others like we’re on the bottom. If the value we place on our lives and ourselves is tied to how well things are going in our “everyday,” we’re going to be riding an uncomfortable roller coaster. We need something, someone we can look to for unchanging contentment no matter how our “everyday” is going. Paul had plenty of highs and lows, but learned the secret of contentment in any circumstances. His unchanging reason? Jesus. We can do everything through Him who gives us strength. If we have Jesus, we don’t need anything else. Genuine joy isn’t dictated by your changing circumstances, it is found in the unchangeable Lord.

Life isn’t always easy here. And it isn’t hard for friction to happen between people. If it keeps happening, it can start causing pain, and then start creating bitterness. And when bitterness has built up, a single spark can cause an explosion. There is a joy we are given as a gift through Jesus. This means we can rejoice together no matter how hard things get. This joy can help us live together with other imperfect people like us. And this is so important… because those who will spend an eternity in joyful unity might as well start living in that joy now. Life is just better that way. So let’s focus on the good gifts God has given us, and let that overflow with joy into not only our lives, but the lives of those around us.

Philippians 3:1-11
We love sharing with people the places we’ve been, things we’ve done, stuff we’ve accomplished. There are things in this world that have brought us joy that we want to share with others. But when we focus on sharing with everyone what we have done or accomplished, it can turn into a competition as to who has done or seen the most. And truth be told, all these things can only bring joy for so long. If we think things we have done have brought us joy, there is something that was done for us that brought us a greater joy than anything we’ve done or experienced. Unspeakable joy. And when we know this joy, believe it, celebrate it, it changes everything.

Philippians 2:1-11
In this world, it seems that it is important to show everyone who you are, what you have accomplished, what you deserve. Someone has to speak up for you, and it might have to be you! If you aren’t watching out for yourself, who is going to? But the greatest possible contradiction to this is the heart and core of the Bible. We must humble ourselves if we are to be exalted. Put the interests of others before ours? But if we do that, then who will take care of us? Who? Jesus will. The very one who showed us what it means to humble Himself for our good. The One who gave us life by doing so. So, let’s imitate Him. Let’s learn what a truly great life is – it begins with making ourselves lowly.

Message: Have A Thick Skin and Tender Heart
Series: Shine Like Stars
Service Host: Pastor Ben Kuerth
Philippians 1:1-11
Letting God’s light shine as we live in this dark world can be pretty difficult. As we follow Jesus in a world that doesn’t, we will face opposition. So we need a thick skin if we are going to do what God calls us to do. But we also need a loving heart toward people. Love moved Jesus to do what He did for us, and it is love for people that will move us to live out our purpose. This rare combination of a thick skin and tender heart was seen in the life of the Apostle Paul. As we look at this letter he wrote, from prison, to the people of Philippi, we can see his loving heart as he prays with joy because of these people who came to know and love Jesus. May God also make our skin thick and our hearts tender!

We’re going to talk about sex! But it’s not going to be a shameful, embarrassing conversation. God loves sex. He created it and designed it for our enjoyment. He loves it when we enjoy sex the way he designed it. But good sex takes work. It’s not quite as movies and TV and porn represent it. Sex is a beautiful gift from God that can bring amazing blessings, but its power can also bring harm and pain when misused. Let’s learn about God’s beautiful gift of sex!

Message: Depression: God's Word Gives Lasting Hope
Series: Taboo
Service Host: Pastor Ben Kuerth
Depression feels so overwhelming. Many times, there’s the feeling of having no hope. Here, we see the psalmist feel despair, his soul thirsting for the Lord. But then he talks to himself. Why am I so down? Even in this desperate situation, he is my Savior and my God. If only that was the silver bullet. However, depression can be like a yo-yo; wrestling match in the mind. One minute we know our hope is in God. The next moment, we are back to despairing. Keeping God’s Word in our mind, thinking about the hope we have, meditating on his promises, and the hope we have in him.

Welcome to Divine Savior Church in Doral, FL
Where have you been before? What is your background and experiences? These questions serve in evaluating candidates for leadership. They help us form our opinions, and the stronger the background and experiences, the better. What we celebrate at Christmastime is the one whose background and experience answer all our questions and give us security and peace. The one we worship and adore is begotten of the Father from eternity. He is worthy of all praise and glory, just as Mary sang in her song. And he comes to be our shepherd. To stomp on the ancient serpent and old evil foe, and to watch with care and concern over all his flock.

Message: The Mighty Warrior
Series: Messianic Metaphors
Service Host: Pastor Ben Kuerth
Welcome to Divine Savior Church in Doral, FL
When your leader is strong, you are strong. When your leader is weak, fear and despair overtake his followers, because there will always be enemies and adversity. Fear and despair creeps into our lives because of the adversity and unknowns we face, but God calls you to rejoice, shout aloud, and sing, because your leader is a mighty warrior. Jesus came as an infant, lowly, and humble, yes, but he was a warrior with the might to overcome our greatest enemies – sin, death, hell, and Satan, who desires these for us. Since God has so delighted in us to send such a mighty warrior, we have nothing to fear. Instead, rejoice, shout, cheer, and sing for joy.

Series: Messianic Metaphors

The anticipation of a new leader comes with new expectations for those who follow. Are we prepared in our own hearts to welcome the one for whom we prepare? God’s expectations stand for all time – they don’t change. Which means, we must change. All change is hard. This change is impossible – for us. Thank God his grace and mercy never change. He sends the refiner – the one who applies the heat so that the silver is purified. Our God calls us to return to him in repentance, acknowledging our sin and letting it be burned away, and God returns to us to restore, to refine, and purify through the miracle of justification and faith in Christ. The Holy Spirit will continue to refine and purify us as God’s holy children – purified silver in the hands of a master silversmith.

Message: The Righteous Branch
Series: Messianic Metaphors
Service Host: Pastor Ben Kuerth
Welcome to Divine Savior Church in Doral, FL
Lineage matters. Family trees tell us of the values and strengths. We might look at family members of the past to gain an understanding of a person in the present, and especially their pedigree when it comes to leadership. What if the family tree leaves much to be desired. What if there is weakness and immorality and brokenness there. This was the case with the family tree of the royal line of David and the ruling family of God’s people. A tree that seemed to begin so strong, became filled with weak, diseased, and broken branches. Yet, God promised to raise up a righteous branch in that tree. One who would serve his people well, and this righteous branch is also your righteous Savior.

Message: Live With Your Eyes On The Skies
Series: Live Like You'll Live Forever
Service Host: Pastor Ben Kuerth
Welcome to Divine Savior Church in Doral, FL
“Eyes on the prize.” That axiom stresses that when pursuing some good goal, focus is important. You don’t want distractions or a lack of self-discipline to keep you from obtaining whatever that prize might be. “Eyes on the prize.” You summon the willpower to fixate on that good thing. You let nothing divert your attention from obtaining the prize. The prize that we want most is spending eternity with Jesus. As the Church Year comes to a close, Jesus promises that he will come again “in clouds with great power and glory” to give us that prize. That prize will be so unbelievably good, it is worth fixating on. It merits our striving to set aside all that would distract us from Christ. Let us be ready. Let us keep watch. Let us live with our eyes on the skies.

Message: Free From The Fear Of Judgment
Series: Live Like You'll Live Forever
Service Host: Pastor Ben Kuerth
Welcome to Divine Savior Church in Doral, FL
Have you ever experienced that uncomfortable feeling that others are watching you, trying to find something to criticize? We don’t want others judging us. It is bad enough listening to the voice inside our own head, whispering that we aren’t worthy. How do we overcome the fear of judgment? It begins by realizing that there is only one person whose opinion ultimately matters—the Judge. Everyone is going to live forever in one of two very different places. Where you spend eternity depends on a judgment that Jesus will render. This week we see why his judgment need not trigger any sort of anxiety. Judgment day is something we can joyfully anticipate. We can live free from the fear of judgment.
Hebrews 9:24-28 - We can live free of the fear of God’s judgment because of the sacrifice our high

Message: Live A Life Of Startling Generosity
Series: Live Like You'll Live Forever
Service Host: Pastor Ben Kuerth
Welcome to Divine Savior Church in Doral, FL
Perhaps you have heard the axiom, “Eat, drink, and be merry, for tomorrow we die.” In other words, while you still can, use what you have in order to enjoy life to the fullest. If this life is all there is, St. Paul agrees that would be a good philosophy. Paul wrote, “If the dead are not raised, ‘Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die’” (1 Corinthians 15:32). However, note the “if.” Paul was saying that the epicurean approach to life makes sense only if this life is all we have. But it isn’t. Jesus will raise us from the dead and take us to live in his home, a place of perfect comfort and beauty. Knowing that, we are set free from the need to live a self-indulgent life now. Instead, we can be generous people, using the wealth that God has given us to serve both him and others. We can live a life of startling generosity.
Mark 12:38-44 - Jesus points to a poor widow as an example of startling generosity.

Message: Live A Life Of Fearless Witness
Pastor Ben Kuerth
Jesus reminded his followers that living as His disciples would bring hardship, yet He calls us to be bold witnesses. Living in obedience to God’s Law and sharing His message of mankind’s sin and salvation can be seen as offensive or even threatening to the world around us. So, why not just stay silent if it would make life easier? Why not keep our faith private? The answer is profound: because we are going to live forever.
With hearts full of gratitude for Christ’s sacrifice and the gift of eternal life, we share the gospel with others, hoping they too will come to believe and be saved. Our confidence in heaven’s perfection frees us from fear of rejection, hardship, or even death as we bear witness to Christ.
Join us in exploring the courage of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego in Daniel 3:16-28. Despite facing an evil command from a pagan king, they stood firm, living as fearless witnesses for God. Their story reminds us that, regardless of the world’s threats, we have a promise of eternity, making every risk worthwhile in the name of sharing God's love.

nter around us. But did you know that life actually works better when we make it about God? This may seem counter-intuitive, yet it's a profound truth highlighted in the Bible. In some of the most powerful words in Scripture, God reminds Job that the universe doesn’t revolve around him. Instead, it revolves around God.
In this final week of our series at Divine Savior Church in Doral, FL, we explore the closing chapters of the Book of Job, where God speaks directly to Job, giving him a deeper understanding of his place in creation. Through Job 31:6-10, 35; 38:1-35; and 42:1-6, we learn that a life centered on God will never disappoint, while a life focused solely on self always will. Discover how shifting our focus from ourselves to God can transform our perspective and bring true peace and fulfillment.

Welcome to Divine Savior Church in Doral, FL!
When you are going through hard times, it is so important to have good friends. Friends who will be there for you make all the difference. When a friend of yours is dealing with hardship, being there for them is important. Just your presence and your love makes a difference. Your words can too. But there are times a friend’s words are helpful, and there are times a friend’s words are not as helpful. Job had some friends who were there for him, but loading him with guilt over what was happening to him, and in the end, making him feel even worse. This week, let’s discover how best to befriend a world that is filled with pain.

Understanding "Name It, Claim It": True Biblical Context
God wants me to be happy. He wants me to have what I desire, so I will just name the blessing I want, claim it for myself, and I will receive it. After all, Jesus said, "ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you," right? Sounds like the perfect recipe for happiness! But what does Jesus really mean when he says that? Let's examine the context of this saying and be assured that Jesus loves us too much to give us whatever we ask for. Instead, through the working of His Word in us, He motivates us to ask for whatever HE wants. That is a recipe for true happiness!
In this video, we delve into passages like I John 5:13-15, John 16:16-24, Luke 11:5-13, and I Kings 19:11-13 to uncover the true meaning behind Jesus' words. We'll explore how understanding God's will and aligning our desires with His can lead to genuine joy and fulfillment. Join us for an enlightening study on the profound difference between asking for what we want and seeking what God wants for us.

Jesus Calms the Storm: A Lesson in Faith and Trust
In this powerful Bible story, Jesus demonstrates His divine authority over nature and teaches a profound lesson in faith. As evening falls, Jesus and His disciples set out to cross to the other side of the lake, leaving the crowd behind. Suddenly, a furious storm erupts, and the boat is nearly swamped by the crashing waves. Despite the chaos, Jesus is found asleep in the stern, resting on a cushion. Terrified, the disciples wake Him, pleading for their lives.
With calm authority, Jesus rises and rebukes the wind and waves, commanding, "Quiet! Be still!" Instantly, the storm ceases, and a great calm settles over the waters. Turning to His disciples, Jesus questions their fear and lack of faith, challenging them to trust in His power and presence. Astonished, the disciples marvel at Jesus' command over the elements, wondering, "Who is this? Even the wind and the waves obey him!"
Join us as we explore this miraculous event, reflecting on the significance of faith in times of trial and the assurance that Jesus is with us in every storm. Through this story, we are reminded of Jesus' omnipotence and His call for us to trust Him, no matter the circumstances.

"I wish I could figure out what God's plan is for my life." Many Christians have mouthed these anguished words. They read Jeremiah 29:11 and conclude that God has a detailed, tailored plan for their life that they just need to discover. This presumes that Jeremiah 29:11 is directed at us specifically, as well as the idea that we have no choices in life, kind of like chess pieces on a board that God moves around according to his will. When we start listening to the feelings of our heart, the passions that we have, or some "voice of God" we think we hear when we pray, in order to discover this plan, we are led either to idolatry or despair. What we really need is to trust the all-sufficient revealed Word of God and rejoice in the freedom it gives us through Christ.

You Can Have Life Without Limits | Are You Sure That's What It Means?
Series: Are You Sure That's What It Means?
Message: You Can Have Life Without Limits
Preacher: Pastor Steve Muller
Service Schedule: Sunday at 9:30am
Philippians 4:13
I Kings 19:1-18; Romans 8:18-25; Romans 8:31-39; Luke 12:22-34
Philippians 4:13 might easily be called the Christian version of, "Just do it." There's nothing you can't do if you set your mind to it...and trust in Jesus. Jesus will make it possible to achieve what you thought was impossible: beat cancer, found a Fortune 500 corporation, or win an Olympic medal. With Jesus at your side, there are no limits. But life is not one victory after another, even for the founder of a billion dollar corporation. What happens when we don't achieve what we want? We don't need Jesus as a mantra or a life coach but as a Savior sufficient to deliver us from sin, death and the power of the devil, and that's who he is. When we stop making it about our achievements and instead about Christ, we can have joy and peace at the highest points of life, and especially at the lowest.

Defeating Death: The Eternal Hope Through Christ
Service Schedule: Sunday at 9:30am
Dying seems so normal because it happens to everyone, making it tempting to think it's just part of the life God designed for us... but it isn't. Death is not our friend, nor is it something we should just "get used to" simply because it seems inevitable. Death is the consequence of sin and our enemy—an enemy that has been defeated by Christ, who took away the sin of the world.
As believers in Him, we have a sure and certain hope in the face of death, the hope of a real, eternal, physical life in a world as God originally intended it to be. Join us to explore this profound truth and find strength in the victory Christ has won over death.

Understanding God's Love: A Deeper Look at 1 John 4:8
"God is love" is one of the most beautiful and comforting truths of the Bible, but it is also one of the most abused. Many misunderstand God's love, seeing it as similar to human love, which changes based on behavior. Others view God's love as strict, pushing us toward accomplishments, or as permissive, overlooking our faults. None of these views are accurate. God's love is not subjective or dependent on our behavior. It is an objective action fulfilled in Christ, providing true comfort and assurance.
Join us in this video as we explore the true nature of God's love as described in 1 John 4:8. Discover how understanding God's love can transform your relationship with Him and bring you peace and comfort. We will delve into the common misconceptions about divine love and reveal the biblical truth that God's love is unwavering and rooted in His very nature.

Faith Alone Isn't Enough | Are You Sure? | Pastor Steve Mueller
It just sounds too good to be true, doesn't it? Those who trust in Jesus alone are completely forgiven and reconciled with God. This is what you have been taught, but this is such an important issue so it totally makes sense that there must be at least something that you have to do. Then you look in the Bible and it seems to agree with you because James says, "You see that a person is considered righteous by what they do and not by faith alone." Is James telling us that faith alone in Jesus is not sufficient? Is he in disagreement with the apostle Paul? In this message we will see that there is no disagreement at all. Faith alone in Jesus saves, but it is never alone!

It's almost like a mathematical formula: Teach your children the Word of God when they are young and without question you will see them in heaven. If your children lose their faith at some point, they will come back without a doubt. Unfortunately, that is not what Solomon is saying. By all means, baptize your children and teach them the Word of God starting when they are young! But recognize that although it is not an absolute promise from God that our children will persevere in the faith until the end, it is his wisdom that all Christian parents will want to follow.

As sheep, we are prone to wander. We need a Shepherd over us and we need to shepherd one another. Let’s follow our shepherds, pray for them, and encourage them. We are all serving The Shepherd who gave his life for us. So we humble ourselves, but God will exalt us! There is no safer place in the universe than in God’s hands – so let’s cast all our cares on Him. We need his protection – the enemy is real! But we are safe with God. Forever. The world can take away everything… but it cannot take our identity or our future. So stand firm in that living hope! And look forward to what Jesus is coming back to do for you!

1 Peter 3:8-22
It’s not easy to suffer. We want to fight back and get revenge. But as Jesus followers, we live a new way. We don’t repay evil with evil, but evil with good. We are called to actively bless people! Even hard-to-bless people! If we are afraid of people, we will keep our mouths shut and not share the life-giving hope we have to share. Let’s remember the living hope of Easter. That will open our mouths and give us reason to share our hope. We have a living, eternal hope! Death is not the last word. The faith the Holy Spirit has given us brings us into that hope. Acts 8:26-39, John 13:31-37
Christian husband and wives are an object lesson to the world of Jesus’ love for us. They submit to one another and love each other the way Jesus loves the church. This isn’t always easy. And we don’t like to deal with words like “submit.” But there is a beauty here in how God uses husbands and wives, equal and joint partners, heirs together of his salvation and blessings, not only to love each other, but to share his gospel with the world. It is a beauty that never fades. It isn’t weakness – it shows strength. This lesson will help husbands and wives live out the calling God has given us.

We live in two different kingdoms – the kingdom of the world, and God’s kingdom. As citizens of this kingdom, we are called to submit to the governing authorities. It is part of how we honor God. But we do this remembering there is one true King, and He isn’t voted in. We honor our leaders, but we worship The King. Our submission shows worship to our heavenly King. The truth is, we are free. Free in Jesus – in the living hope of Easter. So let’s live as free people. But as servants honoring God. We aren’t the first to suffer. Jesus did for us. Let’s follow in his steps. We will never have to suffer what He did. And at moments of unjust suffering, we will discover whom we truly worship!

It’s not easy being a Christian in our world. The living hope of Easter makes it easier, it makes it possible. We learn how to think with hope and how to live with hope. The way we live shows what we are hoping in. God made us “strangers” in this world with the new home He has promised us. Do we live as strangers? Or do we forget that there is more than this? We won’t enjoy living with the love of God until we have the right fear of God. What Jesus did for us at Easter gives us all the reason in the world for hope and for living differently!

Grief. Suffering. Hardship. Loss. These experiences can cause hopelessness. We need a deeper joy, a deeper hope to live for to make it through. Easter gives that to us. So does the fact that God was thinking about us since before creation! The God who chose us before time began isn’t going to let go of us now. The future we have to look forward to will make everything worth it. That gives us reason for joy. Our suffering isn’t meaningless – it focuses us ever more sharply on the inheritance waiting for us.

A message on Matthew 20:17-28 by Pastor Ben Keurth.
The disciples wanted a Savior who was going to bring power and rule with authority. Since they were Jesus' loyal followers, they would of course have access to some special places next to Jesus where they would have some power as well. That's the Savior we want. A powerful one that will bring earthly power and influence. We want one that will be glorified here, rule here, and have power here on earth. The only problem? That's not the Savior we need. We need a Savior who would be a servant and give his life as a ransom for many.

The woman at the well was lost. She was searching for something or someone to quench the thirst of her soul. She searched for so long that she was now lost. We know what its like to go searching for something to quench the desire of our hearts, but nothing ever does. Like this woman, we eventually get lost and we don't know where to look. The good news? We have a Savior who has been searching too. But he hasn't been seeking for someone or something to quench his thirst. Instead, he's been looking for me, the lost.

A message on Matthew 4:1-11by Pastor Ben Keurth.
In any great story, there's always a villain, victims that he takes captive, and a hero. Every story depicts the hero physically conquering the villain in order to free the people. Sometimes that's what we think we need, isn't it? Wouldn't it be better if the devil wasn't around to tempt us and cause terror in our lives? Wouldn't it be great if Jesus destroyed the devil and put an end to the hurt and the fear? Surely that's what we need! Except when Jesus met the devil in the wilderness, that's not what happened. Instead, we see our Savior do something that we couldn't do: withstand temptation. We may want the devil dead, but what we need is perfection. That's exactly what we find in our Savior Jesus.

We are always busy. We are always in a hurry. And since we are always in a hurry, we miss important things. We think our busyness and efficiency in getting to everything helps us experience more, but we actually experience less. We try to do it all and end up really doing nothing When we get too busy, we either dread things or rush to get done with them and check them off a list. We get bored with the familiar and threatened by the unfamiliar. Busyness makes us stop caring about the things we care about. But God wants us to “be still and know He is God.” To sit quietly at his feet. To taste and see what is really good. What would happen if we stopped and actually paid attention to God and to the world He created for us? The world is no richer for our passing through it. But we are far richer for not missing it.

Most of us feel completely wiped out. Endless demands on our time crush us. Even our “vacations” are manic. If we only had more time! We have forgotten the ancient wisdom of Sabbath, rooted in God’s own rhythm of work and rest. Sabbath means rest. The gift of Sabbath (rest) is essential to our full humanity and faith. Since God knows how much we need Sabbath and how easily we might neglect it, He made it a command. We’ve neglected it anyhow. We’ve lost the rest of God. But nothing really changes until our minds do. God is more interested in changing your thinking than in changing your circumstances. Before we can keep the Sabbath, to be given rest, God has to change our minds. Our attitudes. Our hearts. The gift of God is to experience the sacred in the everyday.

No one’s perfect. How many times have we regretted making a rude comment that hurt someone’s feelings? How many times did we think of our own selfish wants while trampling on someone else’s needs? Break a promise to our kid? Get caught doing something we shouldn’t do? Wouldn’t it be nice to get a second chance? We don’t live in a world where second chances or “do-overs” are too common. But we do have a God who offers us a “second chance.” His prophet Isaiah talked about the One coming who would give the whole world the ultimate second chance… a brand-new clean start! The perfect thing to ask for this Christmas!

A message on 1 Thessalonians 4:1-12, 5:23-24 by Pastor Caleb Schmiege.
The Roman world was full of many temptations just like ours is today. Casual sex was a way of life for many. Finding a Christian spouse was difficult. Being lazy and freeloading off of others was commonplace. It wasn’t easy to live a sanctified life pleasing to the Lord. But that didn’t stop the Thessalonians from trying. More and more with God’s help, they learned what God’s will is and through the power of the Holy Spirit living in them, they found the strength to strive after holiness. With God’s help, we too strive to be more like Jesus in all that we do even when this sometimes looks so different from the rest of the world. But we know the Lord who calls us is faithful, and he will do it (1 Thess. 5:24).

To be a Christian in Thessalonica was not easy. They faced persecution and many trials. But they endured because life was different now. They knew they didn’t face these challenges alone. They had the encouragement of their church family. This made them want to stand firm in the Lord as they looked for ways to love and support each other. So too in our world, it’s easy to feel isolated and alone. But when we support each other like family we know that God is at work strengthening us and causing our love for each other to overflow.

When the Thessalonians first heard the gospel, they realized it was wonderfully different than any message they’d ever heard before. That’s why they received it as they did—not as the words of mere human beings, but as God’s Word—life changing and worth holding onto for dear life. We also want to take all of God’s truth seriously because even in our modern world it’s the Word of God that still makes all the difference.

The Thessalonians turned away from the idols they used to serve. Why? The power of the gospel! Idols are demanding. But Jesus is different! Unlike idols, Jesus is the only living God who, even when you fail him, will not punish you and doesn’t demand more from you. He is the only Lord who even when you fall short, forgives you freely by his grace. Live for him and you will never be let down in the end. The pure gospel of Jesus is why we can also live with more joy than guilt just like the Thessalonians.

There are false gods battling for the place of honor in our lives. We can’t live the life God wants us to live when we are pursuing something else. Behind the sins we struggle with, the discouragement we deal with, and the lack of purpose we live with, are false gods that are winning the battle for our hearts. They are vying for our attention. But so is our gracious God, through his Word. Through the Holy Spirit. Which voice are we going to listen to? Which volume are we going to turn up? Which will get our attention? The many false gods this world offers that ultimately won’t help us? Or the one true God who made us and loves us and shows us his grace? The last couple of years showed us more than ever how divided we are as a people. We are divided along racial lines, political lines, gender lines, religious lines, and economic lines. It is too easy for us to think in terms of “us and them.” We judge others on this basis, and we feel superior. We tend to emphasize the weaknesses of those on “their” side and minimize the weaknesses of those on “our” side. We spend lots of time at the “altar of pride” and feel superior in terms of morality, religion, race, and ethnicity. These false gods have a very divisive power in our world, and can take the allegiance of our hearts from God to these “sides” we end up making into idols instead of blessings. We will look at God’s Word today to see how it can defeat these idols from taking God’s place in our hearts.

Or while you were watching a professional sports contest or singing contest? Or browsing the blog or YouTube channel of a successful influencer? We spend lots of time at the “altar of influence” worshiping gods of people, celebrities, influencers, and culture. Wishing we could be more like them. Wishing we could have what they have. These false gods have an incredible influence on our world. It can be hard not to get carried away with them, and let them guide and direct us more than the God who actually knows best how this world works. Would you do anything for love? “Falling in love” with another person often keeps us from thinking straight. It takes a high place of importance. It isn’t hard for that kind of infatuation to take a place higher in our hearts than it should. We spend lots of time at the “altar of love” worshiping gods of romance, family, and our own ego. These things are actually good gifts and blessings from God but can step out of order in our hearts and become more important to us than the love we have for the God who made and redeemed us. It’s good to love our spouse and family, and even have a healthy esteem of ourselves. But God needs first place in our hearts. Even over family. Let’s love our spouses, but love God more. We will look at God’s Word today to see how it can defeat these idols from taking God’s place in our hearts.

A message on John 10:10 by Pastor Caleb Schmiege.
It is easy in this world to think that the “best life” or “life to the full” means binging on all the things that bring us temporary pleasure. Didn’t the year of shut-down show us how powerfully addicting binging on Netflix, snack foods, and alcohol can be? We were made to worship God, but we often end up spending lots of time at the “altar of pleasure” worshiping gods of food, sex, and entertainment. These false gods, which wield a very powerful mental, physical, and emotional lure, keep us from the real relationship with Jesus that we need when they become more important to us than Him. We will look at God’s Word today to see how it can defeat these idols from taking God’s place in our hearts.

A message on Mark 10:17-27 by Pastor Ben Keurth.
We live in a world where everyone wants to be “King of the hill,” right? Climb the ladder. Be on top. Be the highest-paid whatever we are. We were made to worship God, but we often end up spending lots of time at the “altar of power” worshiping gods of success, money, and achievement. These false gods, which are so attractive to our world, keep us from the real relationship with Jesus that we need. We will look at God’s Word today to see how it can defeat these idols from getting God’s place in our hearts.

A message on Exodus 20:2-6 by Pastor Ben Keurth.
There are false gods battling for the place of honor in our lives. We can’t live the life God wants us to live when we are pursuing something else. Behind the sins we struggle with, the discouragement we deal with, and the lack of purpose we live with, are false gods that are winning the battle for our hearts. We were made to worship God, but we often end up valuing and honoring the idols of success, money, achievement, food, sex, entertainment, romance, family, our own ego, and many more things. These false gods keep us from the real relationship with Jesus that we need. This week, we begin looking at God’s Word to see how it can help us defeat the idols that want God’s place in our hearts. It’s a battle for our hearts!

A message on Matthew 25:31-46 by Pastor Ben Keurth.
We believe Jesus will return and judge the sin of each person. Believers should prepare for and eagerly await this second coming. While our confession is of truth, it is belief in the truth God has revealed. We don't insist on all the details, but rely on the wisdom of God in his plan.

A message on Acts 1 and John 14 by Pastor Ben Keurth.
We believe Jesus went to heaven after His resurrection. He rules and reigns over all things with the Father and the Holy Spirit. Are we there yet? As Christians, we certainly have a longing for heaven. We long for the complete removal of sin from our lives and the lives of those around us - its consequences and its nature. Perhaps because we long and trust, we also grow impatient with God's timetable. The creed gives us the symmetry we need to both long for heaven, and accept God's work and wisdom in our present circumstances.

We believe Christ experienced death with us and for us. He descended into the grave but He defeated death and was resurrected. The creed reminds us that the war is over. Victory is complete. Let's remember to live in such victory, and carry ourselves with the triumph of Christ - his triumph over sin, death, hell, and Satan.

A message on John 18-19 by Pastor Carlos Leyrer.
We believe Jesus died as the sacrificial substitute to pay the penalty for sin. He truly suffered and died on the cross for us and was buried in a tomb. The historical, spiritual, and biblical truths of the cross assault our intellect and reason. Through our confession of faith, we reject the intellectualism that has become the god of our age.

A message on Luke 1 by Pastor Ben Keurth.
We believe Jesus was born of a virgin, Mary, and His birth came about through the workings of the Holy Spirit. We have the opportunity to look at a familiar narrative, but apart from all the trappings of modern, worldly Christmas. While those celebrations and embellishments of the season are enjoyable and serve a good purpose, as we look at the miracle of Christ's birth apart from them we are better able to witness the wonder and awe of Jesus' incarnation.

A message on Matthew 16:13-18 by Pastor Steve Mueller.
We believe Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God, and He is both fully God and fully human. This confession of the person of Jesus Christ is so important because it wages war on hell itself. It is the assault against Satan, his temptations, the accusations he hurls at us, and the very prison to which he would enslave us. All because Jesus is the Christ, the son of the living God. So we combat the notions of materialism - I don't need stuff, I need Jesus. We combat the notions of individualism because Jesus has bought me with his blood.

We believe there is only one God, who has been and will always be. He exists in three Persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit, and He created everything.
This truth gives us incredible comfort and promises on which we can rely. It also calls us to worship and honor him alone as the God of all creation. God is both infinitely powerful and intensely personal.

"I believe" may seem to carry a connotation of personal truth in a very relative world. Yet, when we say, "I believe" as Christians there is a far stronger, far deeper connotation. We profess our confidence of the truths of the Bible. We take our stand on these words from our lips, because of the conviction of our very hearts and souls.
What is The Apostles Creed? Who wrote it? When did it show up? We'll look at the history behind the creed and why it's still relevant for us today. The creed provides symmetry and clarity, a sense of community, and informs our counsel and witness because it is a reflection of God's Word.

When you realize how Jesus has saved you, you can't help but want to serve. When God fills you up, you can't help but overflow. It's no wonder that Christians love to be encouraged to live like no one else. We truly believe it is more blessed to give than to receive.

Serving in Christ’s Church can be discouraging. It is difficult to understand why everything doesn’t work out better for the Church. It is difficult to understand why faithful servants in Christ’s church suffer so much. What keeps us going in ministry is the unseen – the eternal glory and the heavenly home.

Because the church is about spiritual needs, i.e. forgiveness and reconciliation, living together as a community of believers can be a messy business. But as God causes our hearts to beat more and more at one with his, we will trust each other as we determine the best way to address each other’s spiritual needs.

The next “famous words” Jesus speaks from the cross are these: “I thirst.” What was He thirsty for? What are you thirsty for? Our bodies crave water, but what is your heart thirsty for? Love? Acceptance? Purpose? Jesus is the only One who can satisfy your thirsts. Thank God that Jesus went thirsty so He could quench the thirst of our hearts.

We have heard Jesus speak words of forgiveness, words of compassion for his family and friends, and words of eternal salvation for a sinner. Today, we hear something very different from Jesus. We hear “Why?” There’s a word we would never have expected to hear from Jesus. Jesus cries out in the middle of his suffering: “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” Let’s hear what this means, and what this means for us. Its implications are huge!

How do you handle your guilt? Do you cover it up? Feel bad for a couple days? Does it keep you up at night? Depending on who you ask, there are many different ways to handle guilt. Psychologists might try to track it back to your childhood. Talk-show hosts might tell you to believe in yourself. But in the Bible today we are going to learn the only true way to handle guilt. It comes from the third word Jesus said from the cross, “Today you will be with me in paradise.”

Many people have spoken “famous last words” before they died. What “Famous Last Words” would Jesus speak? His first words, instead of bitter words of anger, were words of love, asking his Father to forgive those who were wronging Him. In his second words from the cross, Jesus turns his love and compassion toward his family and friends. He wants to make sure they are taken care of in ways that are good for their bodies and souls. What tender love He shows, even while dying for us!

Many people have spoken “famous last words” before they died. What “Famous Last Words” would Jesus speak when He was being killed mercilessly on a cross? You might expect bitter words of anger, with the way He was being treated. But… instead of bitter words of anger, He asked his Father to forgive those who were wronging Him! Who would have expected that? How can these words comfort us? What can we learn from this?

Is there life after death? If there is, what will that life be like? From a completely human perspective it would appear as though this life is all there is. When you die, you’re dead. In the Scripture, however, we discover that death was not a part of God’s original plan for the world, that death is God’s judgment against sin. That makes death frightening and ugly, but God found a way to destroy death forever. We now look forward to Paradise restored!

Who determines what’s right and wrong? Shouldn’t the individual have the right to determine that for himself or herself? That sounds good to me. But how is that actually going to work in the real world? Is morality subjective or objective?

Am I here to have fun? Am I here to somehow make the world a better place? Is there no way for me to know why I’m really here? The answers we come up with aren’t really satisfying. In the end what I come up with seems so, well, meaningless. But when the Bible talks about why we’re here, it makes sense. I begin to see that I have meaning and purpose that reaches far beyond myself and this broken world.

Am I just here by chance, a random lucky draw of the straw? Is there nothing special about me other than the fact that the genetic mutations of my ancestors produced the “me” I am today? God says “No.” God says that I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wow! That changes everything.
