Looking for something to keep your mind off the tedium of everyday life? Need a story to share over a beer with a mate? Hosts Aaron and John share a new story each fortnight, with obscure, weird, and under appreciated stories from around the world, hopefully with a few laughs in between.
The most dangerous movie ever made. Probably not a title you really want, but once you hear this story you'll realise it was all but inevitable. This week John takes Aaron and Sean through the crazy story of the film that was inspired by a house over-run by wildlife - Roar.

He built an empire from one little shop, and would change the way many of us eat to this very day. He was also a very successful sports franchise owner and and even better ambassador for the city of Detroit. Most people think a plane crash is the worst thing that can happen on a flight, but what if you survived the crash only to find yourself isolated from the rest of the world, in the snow above the tree line, with only a few tins of mussels and chocolate for food. Well that's the awful situation that the survivors of Uruguayan Air Force Flight 571 found themselves in. The middle of the Pacific Ocean, July, 1937. The largest and most expensive hunt in history is on. The USCGC Itasca leads the hunt, with the USS Colorado and the USS Lexington, four destroyers and a minesweeper following. The Lexington, and aircraft carrier, also provided air support, scouring the Ocean with sixty-two planes. The Japanese navy even got involved, providing support for the American’s. They searched for 16 days, ultimately to no avail. But what exactly were they searching for? Two people and a plane, that’s all. It wasn’t just any pilot, however. This was the Babe of the Sky, Amelia Earhart. Mystery abounds to this day as to what happened to Amelia and her navigator Fred Noonan, and this week on Cheeky Tales we’re going to cover their disappearance and all that surrounds it.

In 1996 the world was just starting to work out the best way to climb Mount Everest, the tallest of the worlds mountains. After being first summited in 1953, commercial climbing was just starting to boom, with paying customers hiring guides to make their way up. In 1996, poor weather and poor decision making developed a dangerous situation for 34 climbers on the mountain. The Pacific Ocean was a hotly contested battleground in World War 2. Japan and America had been trading blows since the attack on Pearl Harbour in 1941.
