Women Joining Forces. Women across the UK are joining forces to defend women's sex based rights, organising co-ordinated action nationally, regionally and locally. These groups offer women a safe space to talk freely and compassionately in support of workable evidence-based and meaningful legislation, respectful of women's sex based rights. Our Aims are to retain the hard-won rights of women, to prevent the introduction of self-identification in the Gender Recognition Act, to stop the medicalisation of children who are encouraged to believe that it is possible to change sex, to reinstate the words ‘sex’ and ‘woman/women’ into common language and law. Is the social contract between women and the State broken? - Women and the Law - WRN National Conference 2026
Over the last decade+, public bodies and employers embedded policies and procedures that impacted women and girls and their relationship with those organisations. As the public sector became overtaken by ideology, there has been an erosion of women’s rights. Promotion of ‘critical theory’ over actual equality/social justice.
For Women Scotland seemed like a watershed moment for women’s rights, yet for over a year, the Government that claims they are committed to upholding the rights of women and girls failed to lay the EHRC Guidance before parliament.
Our panel of Susan Smith (For Women Scotland), Maya Forstater (Sex Matters), Professor Jo Phoenix and Akua Reindorf KC discussed, with Emma Hartley chairing at the WRN National conference in 2026.

Heather Binning is joined by two of the Darlington Nurses - lead claimant Bethany Hutchison and Lisa Lockey.
In 2023, eight nurses from the Day Surgery Unit at Darlington Memorial Hospital filed a discrimination claim against County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust for for sexual harassment and sex discrimination.
Female staff were forced to share their female changing room with Rose Henderson, a male member of staff. Henderson was described by the tribunal as "a biological male who identifies as female and has the protected characteristic of gender reassignment".
The Employment Tribunal ruled that the NHS unlawfully discriminated against and harassed the nurses by requiring them to share female-only changing rooms with a male member of staff, and confirmed that the Trust's policy allowing men into women's spaces was unlawful and violated the rights of female staff.
Bethany and Lisa speak candidly about what drove them to take action and the underhand tactics deployed by management before and during the tribunal.
Hear first-hand accounts of the highs and lows of their legal battle and how some colleagues, through fear or pressure, have distanced themselves from the women.
Bethany also discusses the newly formed Darlington Nursing Union, founded to help other medical professionals fight unlawful treatment.

Heather Binning is joined by Nick Wallis, one of the UK's most distinguished investigative journalists.
Nick's groundbreaking work on the Post Office scandal followed by his book, The Great Post Office Scandal, has received widespread praise for its detailed and compelling account.
Today, Nick lifts the lid on the frustrating roadblocks he continues to encounter in the media sector, and why he believes journalists collectively are still failing to expose what he considers the greatest scandal of a generation - the capture of institutions and the medical harms emanating from gender ideology.

Step behind the scenes for an exclusive look at the work of the Women’s Rights Network (WRN) and hear directly about one of its most significant recent campaigns.
This session offers a unique opportunity to learn about WRN’s extensive Freedom of Information venture, to hold local councils across the nation, to account over their unlawful policies and practices.
Beginning in May 2025, the project was launched in response to the landmark ruling in the For Women Scotland Ltd v The Scottish Ministers by the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom.
Over months of investigation, WRN volunteers gathered evidence from councils across the country, exposing the scale of non-compliance with the law.
This work ultimately culminated in the powerful exposé report “The Waiting Shame”, which brings together the findings of this nationwide inquiry and highlights the consequences of these policies for women.
You will also hear about the other strategies and actions being undertaken by WRN regional groups to force the attention of councils that are failing to uphold the law.
Among these is the widely discussed WRN Leeds Deposition, an initiative that rapidly gained national attention after going viral online.
If you are a woman who would like to get involved in the incredible work of WRN, visit: www.womensrights.network/join-wrn.
Membership is free, and WRN has regional groups across the entire UK, offering opportunities for women to collaborate, organise, and take action locally.

Menno describes himself as a 'satirist, songwriter, performer, woo woo buster'.
Menno takes us through his profound personal journey from a young gay man sympathetic to a seemingly innocuous gender movement to his startling realisation that it is unapologetically motivated by homphobia and mysogyny.

Heather Binning is joined by Michael Foran, Associate Professor of Law at the University of Oxford and Tutorial Fellow at Keble College, specialising in public law, equality, and anti-discrimination law.
Drawing on cases including Sandie Peggie and the Good Law Project's latest challenge to EHRC guidance, Michael cuts through the legal complexity to explain — in plain language — what these developments mean and how they are being weighed by legal professionals.
He also offers practical advice for anyone facing discrimination from an employer, or being refused service by event organisers as a gender-critical individual or group.
Michael's first book, Equality Before the Law (Hart, 2023), won the Yorke Prize from Cambridge. His second book, Sex, Gender Identity, and the Law, is forthcoming from Cambridge University Press in 2026.

This week, Heather Binning is joined by barrister Akua Reindorf KC to discuss the legal and institutional fallout from the Supreme Court’s April 2025 judgment. Akua was closely involved in the developments surrounding the case, both through her work as an Equality and Human Rights Commissioner and through her prominent role as a public legal commentator.
Drawing on that experience, she reflects on the responsibilities of public bodies following a definitive ruling from the UK’s highest court. Akua argues that once the Supreme Court had clarified the law, public authorities and regulators had a clear and immediate duty to implement it promptly and transparently.
Akua explains why, in her view, there is no legal justification for institutions to delay compliance or for the UK government to postpone the long-awaited Statutory Code of Practice, stressing that regulators cannot simply defer difficult decisions or wait for political consensus when the law itself has already been settled.

Join Heather Binning in conversation with special guest Kemi Badenoch, Leader of HM Opposition, Leader of the UK Conservative Party and Conservative MP for North West Essex.
After a career in IT and then in the financial sector, she turned her sights to politics, taking her seat in Parliament in 2017. Amongst her many roles in Government and in opposition, she has been Minister for Women and Equalities
Kemi discusses the frustration elected representatives face when agenda driven activists are provided the loudest voice on Select committees that are failing in their duty to scrutinise government policy and performance without prejudice.
WRN members questions are put to Kemi on topical issues such as the concerning impact on our younger generations accessing highly sexualised, degrading material via the internet, Bridget Phillipson's delay in approving the EHRC guidance, women’s rights as a focal electoral issue and the power of women supporting each other, regardless of political leaning.

Heather Binning hosted this interview with two British sporting legends, Sharron Davies and Tracy Edwards.
The refusal of so many sports bodies, regulators, unions (and currently the UK government) to recognise the importance of delivering fair sporting opportunities for women and girls, be it recreational or at elite level, inspired Sharron and Tracy to set up the Women’s Sports Union.

Hosted by Mary Howden of the Women’s Rights Network, this week’s special guest is Ash Regan, an Independent Member of the Scottish Parliament and fierce advocate for women’s rights.
Ash’s Prostitution Bill seeks to criminalise the purchase of sex and provide support to help women exit prostitution. Ash describes prostitution as ”… a system of commercial sexual exploitation that targets the vulnerable”.
Ash takes us through the excruciatingly slow process of attempting to get her bill considered, likening it to ”… trying to push treacle uphill …”
We also hear how Ash Regan spectacularly resigned in order to vote against the Gender Recognition Reform bill.
Among her continued work to protect and remove barriers to sex class equality, Ash has rigourously defended the Cass review and submitted a motion in parliament which called for surrogacy to be banned in Scotland.

Cathy Larkman of the Women’s Rights Network is joined by Graham Linehan direct from the USA for a no holes barred discussion about the cowardice of an entertainment industry that’s refused to condemn the abuse of children and vulnerable young people in a captured UK.
Graham talks frankly about the betrayal of advocate voices such as his, made possible by the pernicious embedding of manic cancellation of those speaking the uncomfortable truth about the harms of gender ideology, a men’s sexual rights movement.
Now residing in America, Graham explains why creative freedom to produce and perform comedic content comes far easier now he and his fellow writers are no longer constrained by the madness of gender cult worshipping.

Sam Wright is a Senior Community Midwife and WRN Derbyshire & Staffordshire member. She is a powerful advocate for women as they go through their pregnancy and birthing journey.
Sam begins with the history of midwives and takes us through the ages. She explains the meaning of the word "midwife" as being "with women" throughout their pregnancy. How midwives have been historically persecuted as witches, and in more modern times are marginalised and erased with the increasing medicalisation of pregnancy.
She discusses how because of this women are losing trust in the medical profession and midwives. How the gender neutral language and the erasure of female specific words like "woman", "mother", "breastfeeding", have all impacted on women, including women whose first language is not English, who have no understanding of terms such as "birthing person".
She goes on to discuss how midwives are impacted by the rise in commercial surrogacy in the UK and beyond, and what is really going on in the murky world of commissioning parents and baby manufacturing using women as the factory unit.

Julie Bindel joins WRN on Zoom to discuss defining lesbian culture.
Julie is a feminist campaigner, writer, and investigative journalist. She is the host of The Lesbian Project podcast, with Kathleen Stock.
She writes for Unherd, Observer, Sunday Times, The Critic, Spectator, Telegraph, Mail on Sunday, Tortoise, Prospect, and more.
She is a keen broadcaster and travels far and wide to investigate stories which relate to misogyny.
Her latest book is ‘Lesbians: where are we now?’ Part-memoir, part frontline reportage and part cultural commentary, Julie examines what defines lesbian culture, love, friendship and happiness today. She distinguishes the particular challenges facing lesbians from the very different experiences of gay men, and asks: why do lesbians so often seem to face particular hostility?

The Women’s Rights Network Afghanistan group works to connect silenced women with volunteers in the UK to give them a voice - through mentoring, education and friendship. Since the Taliban retook control, women and girls have been forced to live under the most oppressive edicts.
This summer a symbolic mass action in honour of them was held in Parliament Square, led by international yachtswoman and WRN member Tracy Edwards, whose charity Maiden raises funds for girls' educational programmes around the world. Plus, it gave a voice to some of the women known to WRN in Afghanistan.

Following the launch of our Step Up Senedd campaign, and despite an explicit assurance from the First Minister of Wales that the Welsh government would comply with the Supreme Court’s clarification of the meaning of the words ‘woman’, ‘man’ and ‘sex’ in the Equality Act 2010, no action has been taken by the Welsh government to correct scores of flawed government policies and practices that remain in breach of UK equality law. As a result, over 100 days on from that apex court’s ruling, every day life for people in Wales continues to be fraught with discriminatory practices that seriously impact women and children. The Women’s Rights Network in Wales responded with a clear message from the steps of the Senedd: Time is up!If you enjoyed listening to this podcast and would like to hear more, go to womensrights.network/wrn-podcast to listen, download and subscribe to more of our episodes.

In the heart of the Derbyshire countryside - in the picturesque market town of Belper - there’s a bizarre story unfolding in the run-up to the annual Pride parade.
First established in 2019, Pride in Belper now boasts that it's the largest Pride celebration n the county, attracting around 11,000 people. The event committee have a strong community presence - their mantra is inclusivity and diversity - and many local schools and businesses are involved in decking the town in rainbows.
So you’d expect Pride in Belper would be the perfect event to promote a social group for local lesbians, gay and bisexual people. Apparently not - Pride in Belper have banned the local LGB Alliance Friend’s group from having a stall at this year’s Pride celebration. We sat down with Michelle to find out why….

Women’s Rights Network Jersey organised a series of events with Stephanie Davies-Arai BEM, founder and director of Transgender Trend, in Jersey the first week of March 2025.
Activists, both within and outside government, attempted to have the events cancelled, tried to stop participants from attending, and even tried to report the event as a potential hate crime.
These cancellation efforts only made us more determined to ensure as many people could hear what Stephanie has to say. Those that did attend were enthralled, shocked and angry about what they heard about gender-identity ideology, and how it’s happening in Jersey, particularly in schools.
For those that were unable or afraid to attend, we recorded Stephanie’s presentation at the public event held on 6 March 2025.

All political parties making up the Senedd in Wales were formally approached by the Women’s Rights Network in Wales to have us come and speak with them about the importance of immediately complying with the Equality Act 2010 further to legal language clarification by the UK Supreme Court on 16th April 2025.
Only the Welsh Conservative party took up the offer, inviting WRN in Wales to speak at their 2025 conference in Llangollen, Denbighshire.
WRN Wales launched its ongoing campaign #StepUpSenedd on Tuesday, 13th May 2025 on the steps of the Welsh Senedd; it marked the beginning of ongoing actions that will ensure all members of the Welsh Senedd will hear 51% of the population.

Women’s Rights Network was delighted to have guest Sharron Davies to join on Zoom to explore the movement in both domestic and international sports in light of the FA decision to ban men from female football teams and World Boxing's introduction of mandatory sex testing, to determine the eligibility of male and female athletes that want to take part in its competitions.
Sharron reveals the shocking structural capture from the very top down within international sport, particularly in the IOC, which explains why making headway in terms of fair competition, will remain a battle; but also how fighting for women’s sports at grassroot level is so important and does has a discernible impact.

Susan Smith from For Women Scotland exclusively joins the Women’s Rights Network to recount the extraordinary battle of three women determined to hold the Scottish government to account and who successfully secured a ruling from the UK Supreme Court that has sent positive shockwaves across the Western world.
Susan details the outrageous antics of elected politicians in Scotland and how willingly the Scottish parliament allowed itself to be led by powerful trans lobby groups down a dystopian road.
Listen to the extent to which women’s rights advocates were shunned and locked out of critical discussions and decision making that would impact on women throughout Scotland, a dismissal that ultimately left For Women Scotland with no option but to litigate against those who failed the electorate, namely The Scottish Ministers.
Susan also discusses what happens next and why it's essential that individuals be brave and sue organisations and business that continue to breach UK equality law.

A month on from the UK Supreme Court’s landmark ruling that the legal definition of woman within equality law refers to biological sex, WRN Wales held the Welsh Senedd to account.
The #StepUpSenedd campaign was launched on the steps of the Welsh Parliament in Cardiff Bay. Women from across Wales gathered with a clear message for politicians - no more excuses, comply with the law!
Hear women set out the positive impact of the court ruling for all females, from school girls to vulnerable older women, from females deserving of safety in night clubs to the legal right to same sex intimate care delivered within the home.
The Welsh government remains in breach of UK equality law and is showing little interest in correcting course.
The Women’s Rights Network in wales continually fights for the sex based rights of every woman and girl in Wales and across the world.

At a visit to the magnificent Hardwick Hall in Derbyshire, managed by the National Trust, a member of WRN Derbyshire and Staffordshire was dismayed to find that even the celebration of women in the medium of something as innocuous as embroidery is not safe from a woman-hating ideological infestation. Where a modern tapestry exhibition that was meant to celebrate women was spoiled when a Trans Rights Activist chose to disrespect just one woman's name on the tapestry, and that woman's name was JK Rowling.
We wrote a thread on X about it which went viral.
We chose to visit Hardwick Hall to respectfully protest this disrespect of the philanthropist and women's rights heroine JK Rowling.
Four women from WRN Derbyshire sat and talked about the purpose of the art project, how the National Trust failed to live up to this purpose, and how the women felt let down.

Andrew Doyle joins WRN to consider the world of identity politics and why some personalities have chosen to speak out publicly against the brutal assault on women’s rights and the diminishment of child protection, whilst so many have remained silent.
With the UK making headway, thanks to the unified effort from grassroot women’s groups to famous names in sports and publishing, what will it take to cure our institutions of gender ideology fever?
Andrew is playwright, journalist, author and political satirist. His new book, 'THE END OF WOKE: How the Culture War Went Too Far and What to Expect from the Counter-Revolution', examines the mechanisms underlying zealous extremes on both the left and the right.

Continuing the series of WRN weekly zooms made available for wider listening, WRN's Elizabeth Foster invites French lawyer and feminist campaigner, Isabelle Thieuleux to talk about her experience of the French legal system in light of Giselle Pelicot and the mass rape trial which saw her husband and 50 men convicted, and sent shockwaves through France and far beyond for its levels of depravity.
The interview explores the differences between French and UK definitions of rape and the cultural impact of the trial in France.
In this special episode of WRN Sports Shorts, WRN's Faye meets Tracy Edwards MBE, who won international fame as skipper of the first all-woman crew to compete in the Whitbread Round the World Race in 1989/90, and Najiba Noori, an Afghan journalist and documentarian, who recently made her feature debut with Writing Hawa.
Tracy's is an extraordinary story full of determination and passion, and in this fascinating conversation, we hear about the obstacles she faced as a woman to compete in ocean racing, her fundraising to buy and restore the yacht Maiden, not just once but twice, and about The Maiden Factor Foundation, the charity she founded that works with and supports communities to enable and empower girls into education across the globe.
It was Tracy's dedication to advocating for girls' access to education that brought the two women together, with Najiba joining as a member of Maiden's all-female crew in 2023 to document the Ocean Globe Race, which they later went on to win in April 2024, making history in the process.
The BAFTA nominated film, Maiden is available to rent or buy.
In the latest of WRN weekly zooms made publicly available, Heather Binning talks with Dr Michael Foran, a Lecturer in Public Law at The University of Glasgow, who specialises in constitutional and discrimination law.
Beginning with how Michael "accidently" entered the sex and gender debate they discuss the complexities of law in this area, including the implications of a judgement in the For Women Scotland vs Scottish Ministers case, heard at the Supreme Court in November last year, before taking questions from a gripped audience of Women's Rights Network members.

WRN's Heather Binning talks with writer, activist and journalist, Joan Smith about her latest book, Unfortunately, She Was a Nymphomaniacwhich "reinterprets the bloody, violent story of twenty-three women closely associated with the Julio-Claudian emperors of Rome. The book pieces together the human stories, showing how they struggled for control of their lives at a time when both the law and the culture were stacked against them."
Taking questions from an enthralled audience of WRN members, Joan shares her motivations for the book, the experiences that informed her thinking and the challenge she poses to the dominant narrative which rehabilitates the men, whilst victim-blaming the women. And of course; we find out what inspired the title.

Author Drew Augustine returns to the WRN podcast to read an extract from her crime thriller, The Twenty Murders, a dark and compelling story set amidst the culture wars.
As its protagonist Detective Constable Morven MacLeod goes undercover, we are drawn into the fury and fear that descends upon a women's meeting.
WRN Scotland's Mary Howden hosts a book group discussion with Drew Augustine about her first gender critical novel, the crime thriller Twenty Murders, which follows the hunt for a serial killer in Scotland. Set against and influenced by real events, Drew explains how she wanted to write a book with purpose and one that would surface the issues around gender ideology, not just for women and children, but in the capturing of our institutions, and how she will always find space for romance and a dog in her novels.
2024 will be an election year. We will have local elections in many constituencies, Police and Crime Commissioner elections and almost certainly a general election.
Elaine Miller knows what’s involved and explains all to WRN’s Zoe in this conversation where you can hear about Elaine’s experience of running in a by-election as an independent candidate.
If you have thought about running as a candidate yourself, Zoe and Elaine discuss how to go about it and how to access a pack that Elaine has put together to help women who decide to stand in local or general elections.
Hustings are where political candidates meet us – the electorate – and we get to quiz those candidates about their plans and what they think about the issues that matter to us.
But someone has to organise them, and if there aren’t any hustings in your area, maybe that could be you.
Zoe and Elaine talk about how to run a hustings and how to ask killer questions at any hustings you attend.
There has never been a more important time for women to be politically involved, whether that's running as a candidate, supporting a candidate or holding their local candidates to account.
So let’s hear what Zoe and Elaine have to say.

Vaishnavi Sundar talks with WRN about her film Behind The Looking Glass; the stories of Transwidows and Children of Transitioners. It's a powerful and moving film and she needs your help to finish it.
A message from Vaishnavi:
Dear friends and well-wishers,
Thank you for your continued support in helping us create films that centre women and women’s lives.
For the past two years, Vaishnavi has been researching and developing a feature-length documentary titled ‘Behind The Looking Glass’. This documentary is about the lives of women whose partners have or want to ‘transition’. While we hear a great deal of “stunning and brave” stories of men, there is a deadly silence when it comes to the stories of the wives or partners. ‘Behind The Looking Glass’ will be the first of its kind in collecting such experiences of women from around the world.
With your donations, we will be able to complete the animated sections in this film. We are building 8 characters from scratch who have to remain anonymous due to possible dangers from their ex-partners. Your donation will also help us with expenditures towards post production costs. Help Vaishnavi complete this film and give a voice to these women. You will help creating a valuable resource to support other women with similar experiences, all over the world.

Many of you have already signed and THANK YOU! 🙏🏻
But there's more to do and we need to work FAST.
WRN hosted a meeting with Sex Matters to understand the need for the petition and how this benefits us all. We recorded much of it and share it here.
Sex Matters is asking people in the UK to sign their official petition calling on the Government to update the Equality Act 2010 to make clear that the protected characteristic of “sex” means biological sex, and is not modified by the holding of a gender recognition certificate.
If you’re a British citizen or UK resident, and you haven’t already signed, please do it today. It only takes a minute, and your name won’t be shared or published.
If you think you could get five or ten friends to sign, then join us in the next stage of the campaign by becoming a petition champion (you still don't have to be public to do this). We will send you resources, ideas and encouragement for sharing the petition. Sign up now and spread the word!
Find out more from Maya and Helen in the discussion.
And find out what YOU can do to help! Every type and size of contribution is much needed and incredibly helpful.
Enjoy the podcast, share the podcast, share the petition and become a Champion!

Women's Rights Network's Mary and Anna talk with Professor Sheila Pedersen about how we can translate the learning from the Suffragette Movement use of the press through to issues for women today.
Professor Pedersen is author of the Scottish Suffragettes & the Press and The Politicization of Mumsnet.
She's @SarahPedersen2 on Twitter: https://twitter.com/SarahPedersen2
FILL IN THE SURVEY! As mentioned in the podcast, the survey is here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdaHhwbuohL_SgYj-_h2BiJgQ934GpGmaBwGVLnCNHWW5H7JQ/viewform?usp=send_form
Professor Pedersen's research focuses on women's engagement with the media for political purposes, using both historical and contemporary source material.
She is currently Visiting Professor at the Mile End Institute, Queen Mary University, London. In 2015 she was Visiting Fellow at the News and Media Research Centre, University of Canberra, Australia.
Her book 'The Scottish Suffragettes and the Press' was published in 2017 by Palgrave Macmillan. The same year she was awarded funding by the Heritage Lottery Fund to produce an edition of the correspondence of Aberdeen suffragette and journalist Caroline Phillips. This work has led to a plaque to Caroline Phillips being unveiled on Union Street in Aberdeen.
She has also collaborated with artist-activist Carrie Reichardt in her public work celebrating Aberdeen women for the NuArt Festival. Her work on the Scottish suffrage campaign has been praised in a motion to the Scottish Parliament and was highly commended by the judges of the British Records Association's annual Harley Prize.
She was the Director of the Rise Up Quines! festival in Aberdeen in 2018.
Pedersen also researches women's use of social media, including blogs, Twitter and online forums. Her book, 'The Politicization of Mumsnet', was published in November 2020 and she is currently working on a project investigating Scottish women's engagement in political discussion online. She is also Co-I on an AHRC project investigating women's writing during lockdown, with Professors Lucie Armitt (Lincoln) and Krista Cowman (Leicester).

Vaishnavi Sundar talks with Sarah of WRN on a whole host of topics. Vaishnavi is engaging, thoughtful, super-smart and you'll learn a lot from listening to her. There's so much to say, we hope she talks with us again very soon.
Here's how Vaishnavi describes herself: I am a radical feminist, I put women first in every project I pursue. I am the country contact for the Women’s Declaration International (WDI). I write about various human rights issues facing Indian women. I make films under the production company I founded called Lime Soda Films. To counter the inequality in the film industry, and create a global solidarity of female filmmakers, I founded Women Making Films.

Heather Binning, Jess Gill and Shay Woulahan from the Women's Rights Network talk about the current threats to our rights from gender ideology with the focus on younger women.
The Women's Rights Network welcomes women of all ages but we're especially keen to hear from and support younger women, who are surrounded by gender ideology in schools, colleges and Universities, on social media and amongst their peers.
Jess and Shay share their insights with Heather, who also brings the perspective and experience of older women in this fight.

"Tinsel" started the Trans Widows Voices website after her relationship ended with a man who "regarded himself as a woman".
She talks about:
- how Trans Widows Voices got started and their stories
- incursions on women's boundaries
- what AGP/HSTS/Cross-dressers means
- what women in relationships with AGP/HSTS/Cross-dressers have in common
- how 'topping from the bottom' is sexual abuse, the subjugation and coercion of women
- sexual, psychological, emotional and financial abuse
- centring women in the feminist and 'gender-critical' movement
- a powerful analogy that could just change your mind about some 'allies' and the 'reasonable transsexual'
- the shift from 'born in the wrong body' to 'born with a paraphilia'
- consciousness raising
- spousal exit clause including for lesbians in marriage and civil partnerships
- do we welcome back into the fold our male (and female) exes when they detransition?
- what we women can do to support Trans Widows

The women of WRN Scotland discuss GRA reform and the impact it will have in Scotland, which will also impact the UK.
We cover how it affects teenagers in schools, and how the affirmative approach and Self-ID /GRC will allow predators to side step disclosure checks.
We discussed the impact on England and Wales, especially students coming to study and potentially returning home with a GRC.

Linda Blade (@CoachBlade) has been championing girls' and women's sports equality in Canada for years. Her book: "Unsporting" about Canada's policy of permitting self-identifying men in women's sport, was written in partnership with National Post columnist Barbara Kay and is published by Out.Sport.
In this riveting podcast, Linda speaks of her remarkable professional life, empowering girls across the globe. Linda reveals how she missed out on becoming an Olympic athlete because she was a young woman during the mid 80s when doping was rife. Linda refused to cheat and so could not compete with those advantaged by doping. Like UK Olympic medalist Sharron Davies, Linda has first-hand experience of how a sporting career can be hobbled by being forced to compete against athletes whom everyone knows, have an overwhelming, unfair advantage. Linda, whose academic background is in biology, observes that the advantages gained by women athletes from doping are significantly less than the advantages conferred by male puberty. Yet today, women are expected to compete against males, many of whom have not even lowered their testosterone - although as she explains, lowering testosterone makes no difference to the multiple advantages that males have over females in most sports.
Linda speaks with passion, authority and the benefit of experience, looking back at the painstaking gains made by elite women athletes from the modern incarnation of Olympic Games in 1904. Listeners will come to understand just how incremental and precarious those gains have been.
Linda observes the differences between Canada and "Terf Island", and the growth of female athlete solidarity across the world with the aim of forming a force to give voice to women in elite sports. Linda sets out why the inclusion of males and females sport will corrupt all sport. A consortia of elite women athletes will enable women to challenge the discriminatory policies of bodies such as the IOC and the UCI, governments and national governing bodies such as British Cycling.
Linda explains how Canada's extreme policy was imposed on sports federations from the top down. She describes her shock and disbelief, both at the absence of any consultation with women athletes and with the mute, unquestioning acceptance by everyone in sports administration of what most know to be a grotesque distortion of sporting principles & an injustice.
Undaunted, Linda is President of Alberta Track and Field in Canada. At her re-election she challenged delegates not to re-elect if they disagreed with her stance on preserving fairness for women and girls. She was reelected. Yet she continues to be one of only a handful of rational voices in Canada. She has a global following on Twitter. She's a consummate professional, an athlete, coach and senior sports administrator of 25 years' experience. She continues to campaign in the ongoing struggle for women & girls' equality in sport. An inspirational listen & a call to join the campaign.

We discuss the UK history of women’s exclusion from sport going back to the stated principle of Pierre De Coubetin: “this feminine semi-Olympiad is impractical, uninteresting, ungainly and improper; it is not in keeping with my concept of the Olympic Games: the solemn and periodic exaltation of male athleticism with the applause of women as a reward”. It is extraordinary how widely this attitude prevailed into the 21st century.
Excluding women from sport is part and parcel of women’s designated roles in the public sphere as handmaidens, not participants; and how sport was and still is perceived as ‘unfeminine’ and not for girls or women.
Football was one of the first games that welcomed women, was popular with crowds but that ultimately women were banned due to the perception that men were losing out. Cycling symbolised independence for women. Gradually from the 1960s, women began to enter the professional and amateur arenas and successfully created both their own Olympic governing body and in the UK, a Women’s Sports Council separate from their male counterparts. Up to the 1990s almost all women’s sports were administered separately until the Sports Councils recommended mergers and men’s sport still dominates today.
This takeover and deprioritising of women’s sport has resulted in the stunting of girls and women’s sports and how as a result, we have very little by way of a legacy to build on. The lack of a longstanding popular culture of women’s sport continues to discourage the visibility of women coaches and policy makers, which contributes to the lack of thought given to encouraging girls into sport.
We discuss exclusion in schools, where non-traditional sports that might inspire girls are underinvested. Traditional team sports are cheaper to run and teachers hesitant to teach PE. Some girls enjoy traditional sports such as football, rugby and hockey, but are deterred by the lack of initiatives taken to make these spaces inclusive for girls, who experience a very different social conditioning to boys.
We discuss sport culture in general; certain sports seem hostile to atypical males as much as females. The macho culture of sport is as problematic for some men as for women; women’s sport is not the remedy or the refuge for men fleeing ‘toxic masculinity’. There is the absurd and intolerable situation that trans men, trans women and women are all competing in the women’s category. Men’s sport meanwhile continues unaffected. Why is it not problematic for trans men to compete in women’s sport, but it’s problematic for trans women to compete in men’s sport? The culture of National Governing Bodies and men’s sport in general has much work to do to address this.
