Ever feel like your emotions have a mind of their own? Let's dig into how understanding our feelings can help us understand ourselves better.

In this episode, I had a chat with Cassandra Deann, a Human Design expert, about being a highly sensitive person (HSP). Cassandra explained how our emotions can sometimes make things seem bigger than they really are, especially if our "solar plexus" center is undefined. We talked about how human design helps us make sense of these emotional waves and why we feel the way we do. And, of course, we touched on why it's important to take a closer look at our feelings instead of just brushing them off.

Lastly, we emphasize the importance of understanding our feelings to grow as individuals. We also discovered that human design can offer some interesting insights, but we shouldn't see it as the ultimate truth. It's more like a helpful guide along our journey.

Key takeaways:

  • Emotions are like a natural guide, showing us what's going on inside.
  • Utilize self-reflection: Regularly pause, meditate, and reflect on your emotions and experiences.
  • Trust your intuition and use Human Design as a tool for self-discovery.

Ever wondered about the hidden struggles of actors and creatives, beyond the spotlight?

In this episode, I have a conversation with Whitney Ann Jenkins where we explore the complexities of creativity, authenticity, and mental health in the world of acting and beyond. We speak about the challenges of navigating personal boundaries, the impact of intense roles on mental well-being, and the often-overlooked post-performance blues. Through Whitney's insights, we explore the importance of honoring one's truth, embracing authenticity, and finding safety amidst creative endeavors. From the significance of setting fluid boundaries to the transformative power of surrender, our dialogue uncovers the multifaceted journey of self-discovery and expression in the realm of the arts.

We begin by addressing the difficulty of admitting when something is no longer aligned, whether in relationships, careers, or creative pursuits. Whitney highlights the cultural pressure to view such shifts as failures, rather than natural evolutions. She emphasizes the importance of recognizing and accepting the complexity of our inner selves, embracing both light and shadow aspects. The conversation extends to the challenges faced by performers in maintaining boundaries, especially in intimate scenes, and the lingering effects of intense roles on mental health. We explore the concept of post-performance blues and the abrupt transition from immersive creative experiences to everyday life. Whitney emphasizes the necessity of safety in creative exploration, advocating for the establishment of healthy boundaries as a means of self-preservation and self-expression.

Ever wondered if there's a different approach to exercise that doesn't involve pain or drudgery? What if movement could be a form of self-care, rather than a chore? In this episode, I had a captivating conversation with Cari, where we explored the concept of "un-exercise" and the power of slowing down in our fitness routines. Cari shared her personal journey of overcoming resistance to movement and finding joy in mindful exercise practices. We delved into the importance of stretching, therapeutic Pilates, and connecting with our body's natural rhythms. We also discussed the prevalence of hustle culture and the misconception that faster is always better in fitness. Throughout the conversation, Cari emphasized the significance of listening to our bodies, honoring our limitations, and finding movement modalities that resonate with our individual needs.

Stretching serves as a gateway to connecting with our bodies and preventing injury. Therapeutic Pilates focuses on strengthening core muscles and stabilizing the body through slow, controlled movements. Embracing a slower pace allows us to activate deep muscles and build strength from the inside out. Fascia release is an essential aspect of movement, promoting flexibility and reducing discomfort. Ultimately, the key lies in starting with the basics, listening to our bodies, and embracing simplicity in our approach to fitness.

Key takeaways:

  • Embrace the concept of "un-exercise" as a form of self-care and mindful movement.
  • Prioritize stretching, therapeutic Pilates, and fascia release to improve flexibility and prevent injury.
  • Listen to your body, honor its limitations, and find movement practices that resonate with your individual needs.

Hey there! Have you ever heard of Clementine Moss? She's not your typical rockstar. Not only is she the founder and drummer of the powerhouse band Led Zeppelin Zap Perella, but she's also a spiritual counselor and non-denominational minister. Her journey as an empath began when she was first exposed to the concept, feeling the weight of other people's pain and sometimes becoming a victim of someone's suffering. Clementine believes that shamanism is a title granted by the community, not claimed, and it serves as the intersection between her role as a drummer and her contemplative path. She sees her frame drum as a conduit for the frequency of the center of the earth, recognizing the integration of all four limbs in her practice. Stillness and connection hold immense importance to her, as she believes that in the chaos of life, we often lose sight of the place within us. Through empowered stillness, Clementine has discovered how it can help us move through fear and let go of constant nagging thoughts. Fascinating, isn't it?

This episode is both a treat to you as a listener and a treat to myself. Today I talk with one of my mentors, Joanna Hunter. Joanna is a spiritual life and business coach. She's also an author, speaker and spiritual teacher. Her mission is to teach clients how to evoke magic in their life and business in order to raise their vibration and consciousness. In our conversation we'll unpack her life experiences as an empath and the lessons and changes that ensued her multiple organ failure.

  • What it was like for Joanna to be a highly sensitive empath in childhood.

  • The trauma from being both an empath psychic and a foreigner as a child.

  • How moving from the city to a small town also felt like moving back in time.

  • The experience of having to suppress her gifts as a teenager and turning into science to understand what was going on.

  • The experience of getting married and becoming a mother, together with the life and mindset changes this implied. - Getting to know the Spiritualist Church: How this brought a new light into her religious beliefs and provided a place where she and her gifts belonged.

  • How Joanna started training her spiritual gifts and realized once she fully opened that door there was no way back. How she got support from her husband and started using her gifts with a purpose.

  • What it is like to see movies and other types of media as an empath psychic. Working on focusing and filtering what she perceives from media and her surrounded.

  • The presence of a second consciousness and realizing your emotions are not your own: being a super receiver and receiving/interrupting other people's signals from the universe.

  • Reaching burnout point from running multiple businesses and dealing with limiting beliefs.

  • Suffering a multiple organ failure. Making the decision that death was not her next step and signing herself out of the hospital.

  • Starting her recovery process and admitting extreme self-abuse through being a workaholic.

  • Transitioning into extreme self-love. Learning what self-love is. Selling her businesses and going through multiple surgeries and auto immune disease.

  • Dealing with lack of money while trying to heal.

  • The epiphany of what needed changing. Learning to listen to your body's warning signs.

  • One piece of advice if you're an empath.- One piece of advice for the younger Joanna. Joanna Hunter Website - https://joannahunter.com/

  • What is Post-Traumatic Growth or PTG?

What happens when we shut down our empathic abilities? I'm honored to have Jesse Veritas join me today for this episode. Jesse is a highly sensitive, empathic person who used to be a professional psychic. As a child, he was encouraged to use these gifts and as a result, had a lot of really intense experiences. Years later, he ended up trying to shut it down and suppress it. And this is what we’re going to talk about in this conversation because a lot of times we're talking about the impact of being empathic, but we don't always talk about the impact of trying to shut that down.

  • Jesse’s story of how he realized he was highly sensitive at such a young age.
  • How he started with crystals and tarot cards.
  • Jesse and Jenifer exchange stories of their experiences.
  • Jesse’s story of working as a professional psychic.
  • The impact of shutting it down and how it affected him.
  • How stress and trauma works and how it has affected us.

Have you been diagnosed with ADHD or know someone who has been? In more recent years, there has been increased recognition of the relationship between being highly sensitive and empathic and having ADD/ADHD. How do these affect diagnosed (or undiagnosed) individuals and what’s the interface between the two?

In this episode, we explore all these and more with my friend Katie Gall who is a performer, a life coach, and an incredibly adept voice teacher.

  • Katie shares more about her ADHD and how she was diagnosed.
  • Katie and Jen share about how they experience ADHD in their lives.
  • The difference between empaths and psychics.
  • How criticisms and rejection affect empaths and people with ADHD.
  • How communicating your feelings can help your relationships.
  • The power of EFT.
  • Working around the stigma on ADHD.
  • Why being ignored is more harmful than getting negative attention.
  • The interconnection of spectrum disorders with ADHD.
  • Examples of how individuals with ADHD take in and process information.
  • Why information overload nowadays is one of the problems at hand for people with ADHD.

Whether you're an empath or not, life can be overwhelming. And that's just the way it is sometimes! It can be especially challenging when you're working with animals and animal rescuers who are helping them. Today, I'm talking to Britt Bolnick, owner of In Arms Coaching and an amazing doggy daycare boarding and grooming facility called The Bark Yard, about how she combines being an empath with rescuing dogs through Pittie Posse Rescue. Plus, we’ll share real-life examples of the safe and dangerous behaviors in rescue that you need to look out for.

  • How empathic sensitivity is challenge for so many people in rescue.
  • Empaths working in rescue who relate to animals than human beings.
  • The behavior that is happening in the greater rescue world.
  • Identifying the very fine line between rescuing and animal hoarding.
  • Why resource is important for animal rescue.
  • Evaluating viable rescues and identifying where your resources go towards.
  • Doing your emotional work to become effective in rescue.
  • Examples of how reactions instead of response in rescue is dangerous.

At a time when the world is falling apart and so many people are feeling overwhelmed and exhausted, how do you keep going through?

For Lorelei -a highly sensitive, empathic teenager -and other empaths this can feel like a double-edged sword. On one side, they experience stronger feelings, which in turn makes their lives more meaningful. On the other hand, it also puts them in touch with all of humanity’s weaker emotions –and that means they can be easily overwhelmed themselves and taken out of the game when they feel too much.

Join us in this conversation to learn how to address what you are feeling as an empath so that you can make choices that allow you to function to respond instead of react.

•Lorelei explains how she is affected by her sensitivity and what’s happening around her.

•How to go about the first step of Empathic Mastery; which is cognition of what is occurring in your life at the moment.

•The reason why Lorelei’s emotions affect her on a physical level and examples of exercises on how she can deal with it.

•Understanding how the three parts of our brain work.

•Practicing tapping to address the things she is worried about.

Empaths are everywhere. Sharon Randall is a highly sensitive empath who's been navigating the corporate world for decades. This often meant trying to fit in, second guessing and even gaslighting ourselves. Listen to Sharon's story as she shares her journey from a super sensitive girl to an empowered empathic woman, light bringer and mentor.

In times of great change and strife apparitions of the Blessed Mother have come to offer solace, comfort and to encourage people to pick up their rosary and pray. As we go through one of the most uncertain and turbulent times in a century people of varied faiths are feeling called to adopt this simple yet powerful practice. Unlikely as it may seem for those who believe the rosary is exclusively christian, former Buddhist monk Clark Strand and great mother loving Witch Perdita Finn received the call to honor Our Lady by embracing this devotion. Listen to this interview as we discuss the pre-christian roots of this sacred practice and how magic is encoded in the Hail Mary.

While the ordinary entrepreneur can often learn and follow strategies conventional Business Gurus teach and achieve great results, many of the highly sensitive empathic witchpreneurs, healers, lightworkers and spiritual business owners struggle to fit their magic and intuitive guidance into these "Bro Marketing" formulas. Most people will agree what the world needs now is way more empathy. However there's a fine line between expressing empathetic compassion and sinking into full blown empathic immersion for empaths and highly sensitive souls. In this episode host Jennifer Moore talks about the differences between empathy and sympathy and why she often finds focusing on sympathy is often a better choice.

The last couple years have been a roller coaster ride here in the United States. For a lot of highly sensitive empathic people, it’s particularly hard right now, many of us deal with feelings of powerlessness, sadness, and fear and worry, concern and overwhelm. THIS can be exhausting. Human beings are not wired for chronic persistent stress. We're designed to deal with acute situations, survive and reboot. Months or years of prolonged stress takes it's toll. The longer we endure it the more likely we are to stall out and experience a freeze response. In the episode I talk about how we're wired to handle challenges and why so many of us are feeling especially unmotivated and tired 19 months into a global pandemic. However, I don't stop there, I also share a tool and exercise designed to move your nervous system from a stress reaction to a state of more calmness and ease.

Not all compromises are created equal. Some make little impact, some involve give and take on both parts to create win-win results but some require sacrifice. With the tendency to always take another's burdens into consideration, many highly sensitive empaths will find compromise as their default. When we're motivated to keep other people content and happy because their feelings mirror our own, it's easy to acquiesce to their needs. We might not even think to ask the question "what's in it for me?" This episode explores how evaluating whether previous agreements still serve us and offers questions to unpack.

Are the desires you claim to want mirrored by the reality of your life? My husband and I celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary the other day. I contemplated what allowed me to go from one emotionally unavailable, ambivalent love interest after another to a lasting, supportive and loving partnership. Bottom line, the key was in my ability to acknowledge my true degree of readiness. The paradox in attracting a healthy sustainable relationship is that we must own the parts of us that want something different or simply aren't ready yet. In today's Empathic Mastery episode I share the revelation I had to accept to keep love in my life.

Filters and Shields are ESSENTIAL for highly sensitive empathic people. Discerning what's ours and what isn't gets especially challenging when we feel overstimulated, depleted and overwhelmed. When stress is low, and the path is smooth, we can often get away with less maintenance. However, when circumstances heat up and more intensity starts piling up on our plate, our filters and shields need more support.

Before the pandemic hit, I'd experienced two decades of relative grace and ease. I became accustomed to a rather stable life. I wasn't taking on a lot of water, I wasn't feeling a lot of the psychic overwhelm and the empathic overwhelm that I used to absorb constantly. THEN at the end of 2019 life threw me a bunch of curve balls. This episode is about recognizing when we're out of balance and restoring our energy so we can be part of the solution instead of contributing to the global distress.

In this episode I share

  • How to recognize when your protective filters and shields have become depleted
  • Reframes on living a safe, blessed and abundant life when so many people are struggling and suffering
  • My 7 step stop gap protocol to restore your energy and protection
  • A guided meditation that leads you through the whole exercise. (You'll find this around the 23 minute mark)

Please join me for some empathic insight and support.

The relationship between narcissists and empaths is a hot topic these days. Unless you’ve been living under a rock I’m pretty sure you’ve heard about this treacherous dynamic. The thing about the narcissist and empath combo, is that at first, it’s a match made in heaven. Initially narcissists can be incredibly charming and absolutely delightful. The narcissist feels fantastic from the positive attention they receive. And since empaths pick up the narcissist’s thoughts, feelings and energy, they feel great too. Often that early connection is delicious. The problem is that it's not sustainable. Once it starts to go south the relationship becomes increasingly fraught with conflict, guilt and confusion.

Defining our boundaries and setting limits is the solution.

This Empathic Mastery Show episode offers suggestions for dealing with friends on the narcissistic spectrum. Then please leave a comment if you’ve ever struggled with this challenge. I’d love to know how you’ve handled it and what worked for you.

To eat meat or not to eat meat… an Empath’s dillema

There are some people who claim that one cannot be an empath, and also eat meat. A plant based diet is often promoted as a spiritually and morally superior choice. So, how does one come to terms with having a body that thrives on animal protein and fats, but feels lousy on a vegetarian diet high in fruits, grains and legumes?
