On today’s show we will be talking to Roy McMaster who has been involved in the cab trade for the last 40 years he first worked with LTI and was instrumental getting the Mercedes Vito into London. In later years he had worked at PENSO. Roy was involved with the LCDC in producing our submission to the ULEZ proposals back in 2015.
The response from drivers on last week’s show concerning the state of the knowledge was really amazing. I just want to remind everybody that all the trade Orgs will be attending TAXI House tomorrow to discuss the current state of affairs. Whilst everyone has agreed that we protect the high standard, we must find a way to somehow make the KOL more accessible and attractive for new candidates.

The taxi trade is at worrying cross-road! | The Mayor of London has decimated the taxi fleet and insults the trade by grandstarding at the LEVC factory along with TfL managers. They are totally out of touch with the trade and how their policies have now left many drivers out of work!

Alan McGrady, the LCDC Ranks and Highways Rep officer goes into detail regarding new taxi ranks and the work and effort that goes in by the Ranks and Highways committee in obtaining both new rank spaces whilst also maintaining the current ranks. Alan also pointed out how some drivers abuse the feeder ranks such as the Shard for their own benefit, and therefore putting the ranks in jeopardy after the trade fought so hard to obtain them.

Shaun talks of elevating the Black Cab in London by giving hem access to the roads and capping the number of Private Hire vehicles in London.
