Jump On Movies: Recent Episodes

Ryan Jump

I am a former Math and Science Teacher and tutorer who loves Movies. But I also believe that Movies can be used as a teaching tool. I hope to learn new things myself by re-watching all of the movies I own, and just want to share my findings with others along the way! Thank you for your time and for listening to my podcast!

In this Podcast, Jump and Company cover the very first Predator movie, which starred Arnold "Terminator" Schwarzenegger, Jesse Ventura, and Carl "Apollo Creed" Weathers (RIP). This movie has some famous catchphrases (like "Get to the Choppa!!!") and its effects are very well done for its time.

Disclaimer: A few instances of profanity.

Strap in and listen to us gush about the movie and hear Danny's stories where he has hung out with certain movie actors at Comic-Con Conventions and hopefully you will revel in how much this movie affected us as we grew up throughout the years...

In this podcast, we finally cover the Last of the Lord of the Rings movies. As per usual, we do get off topic from time to time, but that will, hopefully, add to the fun factor of listening to this podcast.

Thank you for listening and Merry Christmas to all of you!

P.S. There is a little profanity that comes up from time to time. Hope this does not ruin your listening pleasure.

In this episode, after festivities of pizza, salad, soft drinks, chips, and Frangelica, we did a podcast immediately after watching Batman:  Mask of the Phantasm.  We decided that this would be a good one to do, especially in commemoration of the life and death of the voice of Batman for many years, Kevin Conroy.  We hope you enjoy this podcast episode as much as we enjoyed making it!

In this Episode, Ryan is joined with his friend from High School, Bill Boyer, as they delve into the essence of Peter Jackson's masterwork, The Fellowship of the Rings, the first of the Lord of the Rings Trilogy.  Ryan has got many questions, and Bill has many, many answers (not all of them correct, mind you, but it's ok.  He is still a good guy).  Bill uses his knowledge of the original book and the Amazon Prime show, The Rings of Power, to answer a few questions (but some are still not fully answered.  But it's ok.  We still like Bill.  Bill is our friend.  Nice hobbit.)

Hope you like the show!

Adam, Andrew, and Ryan talk about what we like (and mostly didn't like) about Episode VIII of the Star Wars saga.  So many things that didn't make sense or were the result of bad writing or not-well-thought-of scenes and themes are explored.

This might not be one of our better podcasts, but it is one done with notes to look at and completely and totally unscripted.  It is, also, I think our shortest podcast to date (at least the shortest one that Andrew and I have done together).

In this podcast, Ryan J. and Andrew talk about the first "official" movie of the MCU:  Iron Man.  Robert Downey Jr. excels as the "hero who has a heart" and Jeff Bridges kills it as the villain, Obadiah Stane!  Though this is one of our shorter podcasts, we hope you enjoy it as much as we enjoyed giving it to you.

In this Podcast, we give it another go, discussing the characters and themes of SPIRITED AWAY, as the first time (Podcast #7) had a few technical difficulties associated with it.  This one has brand new dialogue and discussions that the first one did not, and has better sound quality.  And a discussion of SPIRITED AWAY would not be complete without referencing Dr. Robotnik & Wonder Woman...

Just Like Heaven is a 2005 American romantic comedy fantasy film directed by Mark Waters, starring Reese Witherspoon, Mark Ruffalo, and Jon Heder. It is based on the 1999 French novel If Only It Were True (Et si c'était vrai...) by Marc Levy.  Steven Spielberg obtained the rights to produce the film from the book. The film was released in the United States and Canada on September 16, 2005.  It made $102.8 million at the box office on a budget of around $50 million.  On a personal note, this is one of two romantic comedy movies that my future wife, Libby, really wanted me to watch while we were dating.  The other one was A Walk to Remember.  And here I am, like 9-10 years later, reviewing it.  This should be fun!

In this Special Episode, a good friend of mine, Mike Sellman, joins me on the journey of exploring the themes and character developments of the characters in It: Chapter I.  We also talk about the book written by Stephen King and also about how this movie differs from the book and the original IT miniseries from 1990.  This is the first collaberation effort for the JUMP ON MOVIES Podcast and hopefully will be the first of many for the future!

I do want to say that we ran into a minor technical difficulty at the 30 minute mark, so there is not the smoothest of transitions.  But, we will know better for next time, so sorry for that in advance.

We hope you enjoy this as much as we enjoyed making this for you!  Take care, stay scared, and have a totally tubular day!
