A monthly episodic podcast, looking back at wrestling’s Monday Night War, through the eyes of one’s of it’s biggest influences, Vince Russo. As the head-writer of the WWE, Russo was the man who spearheaded the WWE’s revival against Ted Turner’s WCW, penning some of wrestling’s most famous segments, featuring the likes of Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Rock, The Undertaker, Mick Foley, DX and The Hart Foundation.
As the WWE turned the tables and began to convincingly win the ratings war, WCW decided to bring in the man they deemed responsible for WWE’s change of fortunes, and in October 1999, Russo became the head-writer of WCW, writing for the likes Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair, Randy Savage, Rowdy Roddy Piper, Goldberg and the NWO
This podcast is a month by month account of Vince Russo’s time with both companies - from the man himself - beginning with his WWE run from January 1997 and concluding with October 2000, his final month with WCW. You will hear all the dirt, the facts, the plans that changed, the ideas that almost were and an unique insight into creativity dealing all with some of biggest names in wrestling history, from the man who lived, breathed and wrote the greatest period in wrestling history.

Spain, Argentina, France and England have held FIFA's top four international spots for almost exactly two years. Now, they will face each other for the right to hoist the World Cup trophy: France versus Spain on Tuesday in Arlington, Texas, followed by Argentina against England on Wednesday in Atlanta — then the winners' faceoff at Sunday's final in East Rutherford, N.J.
It seems surreal that McGregor is actually just hours away from making the walk to the octagon considering the events of the past five years. McGregor’s activity had already fallen off a cliff for various reasons by the time he fought Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 in July 2021—just McGregor’s fifth fight since 2016 (including a boxing match with Floyd Mayweather)—but the broken leg he suffered that loss signaled the start of a seemingly interminable layoff that had no shortage of diversions.
Fast forward to the now, and somehow, McGregor has returned. He takes on a familiar face, Max Holloway, who lost to a pre-fame McGregor back in 2013 when the two were budding featherweights with their whole lives ahead of them. Thirteen years later, both fighters have piled up championships, and packed on a few pounds for their rematch at welterweight. Saturday’s main event is the second-to-last fight on McGregor’s current contract. Win or lose, it’s anyone’s guess what he decides to do for his UFC swan song, not to mention his plans for unrestricted free agency (though a BKFC fight is all but guaranteed).
With Carlos Alcaraz out of the tournament with injury, could heavy-favourite Jannik Sinner pull off a repeat, or will Novak Djokovic add that final record title to his resume? On the women's side, it feels wide open as usual. Could Aryna Sabalenka win her first major title on grass? Or will another huge underdog capture the women's crown?
WWE Night of Champions 2026 on June 27th serves as the final PLE before SummerSlam. Cody Rhodes defends his WWE Championship against Gunther and Sami Zayn, with Rhodes favored to retain, potentially setting up a SummerSlam clash with CM Punk. The King and Queen of the Ring tournaments conclude, with winners earning world title shots at SummerSlam. Jey Uso is predicted to win the King of the Ring against Oba Femi, possibly due to Brock Lesnar's interference. Iyo Sky is expected to defeat Liv Morgan in the Queen of the Ring finals, setting up a possible rematch. Other key bouts include Trick Williams defending the US Title against Ricky Saints, Tiffany Stratton facing Jade Cargill for the Women's US Title, and Bron Breakker battling Seth Rollins. The event streams on ESPN Unlimited and Netflix.
Billi breaks down the headline bouts from tonight's UFC Freedom 250 main card. Donald Trump is of course expected to be in attendance for the event as the White House hosts a sporting event for the first time ever. The card will feature a lightweight fight between Ilia Topuria and Justin Gaethje, while Alex Pereira is also set to take on Ciryl Gane in a heavyweight interim bout. This will all take place outside in an arena that was built specifically for this event.
The next major night of wrestling on deck is Clash in Italy 2026, the first premium live event to take place in the country. European crowds always bring the energy, and they will try to breathe new life to some familiar bouts, with plenty of rematches scheduled.
Headlining the night is another edition of Roman Reigns vs. Jacob Fatu, this time with Tribal Combat in effect for the World Heavyweight Championship match. Cody Rhodes will get in the ring with Gunther again, although they will be squaring off for a different prize with the Undisputed WWE Championship at stake.A pair of WrestleMania rematches will include Rhea Ripley vs. Jade Cargill, plus Brock Lesnar back from his suspected retirement to try and get even with Oba Femi. And finally, Sol Ruca will get another opportunity to add some gold to her young career when she gets Becky Lynch once more with the Women's Intercontinental Championship on the line.
Billi looks at the Futures markets for both the men and women at this year's French Open. The men's draw is obviously missing Carlos Alcaraz and the potential of a rematch of last year's epic final against Jannik Sinner, but Grand Slam tournaments always leave plenty of room for surprises. While Sinner is a big favorite to win on the men's side, the women's draw looks wide open for any of five to 10 different potential winners.
Ronda Rousey is stepping back into the cage tonight for the first time in nearly a decade — and she’s doing it against another foundational figure in women’s MMA. Rousey faces Gina Carano live on Netflix in a long-discussed superfight years in the making, headlining Netflix’s first-ever live MMA event from Intuit Dome in Los Angeles.
The blockbuster fight card also features Nate Diaz vs. Mike Perry in a five-round welterweight bout, along with the return of former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou, who faces Brazil’s Philipe Lins following his crossover into boxing and dominant 2024 PFL championship run.
The bottom three has been decided in the Bundesliga but the order is yet to be determined with three teams battling to claim the play-off place and avoid automatic relegation. Wolfsburg currently hold that coveted 16th spot but they are level on points with rock bottom St Pauli ahead of their do-or-die meeting in Hamburg on Saturday.Heidenheim are sandwiched between these two sides and they face Mainz this weekend so both of these teams will be keeping tabs on that game as well, and all three sides have similar goal differences as well with Wolfsburg on -26 and the bottom two on -29 – Heidenheim are above St Pauli as they have scored more goals. It is all set up for a fascinating finish.
The next chapter in wrestling kicks off with Backlash, with WWE turning the page on its calendar while also dealing with the fallout of WrestleMania 42.
Newly crowned Champion Roman Reigns has his first title defence, and it’s a family affair with Jacob Fatu, challenging his cousin for the title. Four other matches are scheduled, mostly featuring feuds that have been in the works long before WrestleMania.
The UFC is back in Newark, New Jersey, for UFC 328. The UFC’s last appearance at the Prudential Center came in June 2025. One of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world, Khamzat Chimaev, is defending his UFC Middleweight Championship against former title holder Sean Strickland in the Main Event.
This episode also looks tonight's blockbuster heavyweight clash, as Fabio Wardley puts the WBO heavyweight title on the line against Daniel Dubois at the Co-op Live Arena in Manchester; Wardley is coming off a standout victory over Joseph Parker last time out while Dubois is hoping to reclaim a world title after losing the IBF belt to Oleksandr Usyk
Stuttgart host Bayer Leverkusen tomorrow in a match that may decide who goes into next season's Champions League. Leverküsen are fourth in the league, one place above Stuttgart, but both teams have won more games than they have lost this season.Stuttgart are without a win in three Bundesliga games and have played out two straight stalemates, but Bayer Leverkusen have won four of their last five matches and have gone unbeaten on seven of their last eight road trips.
The race to secure Champions League football is hotting up in Germany and with three games left to play, time is running out for Bayer Leverkusen to break into the Bundesliga’s top four. Their 2-1 win over Cologne and Stuttgart’s 1-1 draw with Werder Bremen moved them to within two points of their goal but fifth-placed Hoffenheim are also on two points, so they need all the victories they can get if they are to break into the Champions League places. RB Leipzig, in contrast, look sure to be dining at Europe’s top table next term. Five straight wins has moved Ole Werner’s side five points clear of Stuttgart and Hoffenheim and within five points of second-placed Dortmund, meaning one more victory should secure their spot in the top four.
Billi breaks down selected matches from this weekend's Matchday 31 slate. The title race is over, but the UCL race between Stuttgart, Hoffenheim and Leverküsen is likely to go all the way. Bayer Leverkusen have only lost one of their last seven Bundesliga away games and they travel to Cologne on this afternoon, desperately looking for a win to put some pressure on their rivals.

Billi breaks down selected matches from this weekend's Matchday 30 slate. Vincent Kompany’s side could lift the title with a win this weekend, should Borussia Dortmund slip up on Saturday. Regardless, a win will leave them at least 12 points clear with four games to play, and their goal difference is more than double that of their nearest challengers.
Billi looks at the betting for both nights of WrestleMania 42. As usual, WWE has loaded up WrestleMania with a mix of superstar wrestlers and the involvement of mainstream stars.
Thirteen matches have been announced for the two-day event. Night 1 will be headlined by Randy Orton challenging Cody Rhodes for the undisputed WWE championship. In a controversial twist to the match, Pat McAfee was revealed as the voice in Orton's ear and now McAfee will have to leave the wrestling business forever if Orton fails to win on Saturday.

The Night 2 main event pits world heavyweight champion CM Punk against Royal Rumble winner Roman Reigns. Reigns is looking to climb back to being a champion, having previously been champion for 1,316 days. Punk has invoked the ire of Reigns' Samoan family, leading to questions over whether or not Reigns will truly go at it alone against the champion.

Tyson Fury makes his latest return from retirement on Saturday night with a tough but very winnable match-up against Arslanbek Makhmudov.Back in January 2025, Fury called time on his career for the fifth time after back-to-back defeats to Oleksandr Usyk but he’s since decided to fight on, and a win over Makhmudov would set him up for either a trilogy meeting with Usyk or a long-awaited tussle with British rival Anthony Joshua – or potentially both.

Super Bowl LX is finally here, as the New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks will do battle on Sunday for the right to hoist the Lombardy Trophy and declare themselves champions of the 2025 season.
New England is back in the Super Bowl for the first time since the 2018 season, back when Tom Brady was at the helm. The Patriots advanced through the AFC playoffs thanks to consecutive victories over the Los Angeles Chargers, Houston Texans and Denver Broncos. They won a snowy, mistake-filled AFC title game in Denver two weeks ago, claiming the conference championship over a Broncos team that was starting its backup quarterback in Jarrett Stidham but that nonetheless stayed in the game throughout.
Seattle is back on this stage for the first time since making the Super Bowl in back-to-back years in 2013 and 2014. The Seahawks earned a first-round bye in the playoffs thanks to claiming the No. 1 seed in the NFC and then defeated the division rival San Francisco 49ers and Los Angeles Rams in consecutive weeks to claim the conference championship. The title game itself was a rollicking, back-and-forth affair wherein Sam Darnold slayed some demons and took down the Rams with a three-touchdown performance.
This game itself is a rematch of the Super Bowl over a decade ago where the Pats defeated the Seahawks thanks to Malcolm Butler's miraculous goal-line interception that stopped the Seahawks from claiming back-to-back Super Bowls.

Every year, the Royal Rumble jump-starts the Road to WrestleMania. Superstars throw each other over the top rope with hopes of winning the Rumble. This year, Cody Rhodes seeks to become only the second superstar to win three Rumbles, a feat achieved only by "Stone Cold" Steve Austin. That's a tall task with a stacked field featuring Roman Reigns, Jacob Fatu and Bron Breakker.

Bayern Munich no longer boast an unbeaten league record after they suffered a surprise 2-1 defeat in last Saturday’s home meeting with Augsburg. The Bavarians appeared to be on course for a 1-0 victory until they conceded two goals in the space of six minutes in the latter stages of proceedings at the Allianz Arena. Gaethje, a former divisional interim titleholder, earned this opportunity by winning three of his past four fights, including his most recent unanimous decision win over Rafael Fiziev last March. Pimblett, an ascending fan favorite from the U.K., is undefeated inside the Octagon. He enters the fight following a knockout victory over Michael Chandler.
In the co-main event, former men's bantamweight champion Sean O'Malley vies to reenter title contention when he takes on Song Yadong. O'Malley looks to get back in the win column after suffering back-to-back losses in his past two Octagon appearances. Song beat Henry Cejudo by unanimous decision in his previous fight.

April 2017 Cav interviewed Sunny on his Podcast (the Lingus Mafia Podcast). Sunny was Staying in a "Halfway house" at the time and was very forth coming in this interview. She was an open book and nothing was off limits. Rumors? Facts? She addressed them all and had fun doing so. The next day the internet blew up from all the info she put out there. As the head-writer of the WWE, Russo was the man who spearheaded the WWE’s revival against Ted Turner’s WCW, penning some of wrestling’s most famous segments, featuring the likes of Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Rock, The Undertaker, Mick Foley, DX and The Hart Foundation.
