In this episode, we speak with my good friend Stephen. Stephen has a BA in Religion and Philosophy, and an MA in Arabic Philology from the American University of Cairo. He has been living in the Middle East for a number of years, and in my opinion, is an expert on Islam. He is fluent in a number of languages, including Biblical Hebrew, Classical Arabic, Modern Standard Arabic, Aramaic, Sanskrit and more. He, in my opinion, is one of the best resources on evangelism and interfaith dialogue. In this episode, we talk about exactly that! In this episode, we explore my research proposal for an upcoming archeological dig in Israel-Palestine. In partnership with Copenhagen University, Lund University and Harvard Divinity, I will be participating in excavating a first-century Synagogue in Magdala. Prior to the dig, this episode reveals my angle and question: What is the Church? Can we learn anything from the archeological record, regarding the communal life of first-century Christians? Specifically the monastic movement following the conversion of Constantine? This episode uses a lot of technical language, but my prayer is that you find it intriguing, stay tuned for upcoming research and conclusions during and after the excavation, and finally, you're inspired to see the Christian community as everything Jesus intended it to be.
