In a special interview for The 4th Official, Gary Morris joined by 2022-23 Livingston players' Player Of The Year Joel Nouble to discuss his career and the season that's just finished.

Gary Morris and Will Reid are back to break down all the highlights from Rangers 3-1 win at Easter Road where James Tavernier stepped up to mark his 400th Rangers appearance with another wonderful free kick goal.
Ianis Hagi marked his return from injury hell with an emotional first goal in 16 months, and Todd Cantwell continued his excellent recent form with another goal in front of the travelling Rangers support.
Will was also in attendance at Ibrox today for the 4th Official as the Womens Premier League season ended in a tense climax.
In the end, Lauren Davidson's 92nd minute winner was enough to see Glasgow City crowned champions for the 16th time, snatching the title away from Celtic, and consigning Rangers to 3rd place in the league, and out of the European places for next season. Again it was a lack of quality in the final third that was Rangers ladies undoing, but Malky Thomson's side at least have a chance to make some amends with an Old Firm Scottish Cup Final on the horizon at Hampden next weekend.

Gary Morris is joined by Martin Cassidy, CEO of Ref Support UK to discuss recent controversies involving match officials in Scotland and in the Premier League.
They speak about the contentious decisions of Kevin Clancy at the weekend, and whether or not Scottish refs would benefit from going professional to improve their level of performance.
Martin also speaks about the recent trend of match official confrontational behaviour - with the Mitrovic, Robertson and Fernandes incidents, and whether or not officials should have open mics as they do in rugby, or at least a platform to explain their decisions.
Finally, Martin also discusses accountability for the press and pundits, and whether or not programmes such as Sky Sports' Ref Watch actually hinder refereeing standards rather than aid them.

Sipping on a cup of tea on a Sunday afternoon Zoom call, St Johnstone centre back Liam Gordon couldn’t have come across more calm and controlled – qualities typical of the displays that he has put in for his hometown club so far this season…
But ask him about the upcoming League Cup Final against Livingston and his excitement is clear:
“I’m not going to lie I’m thinking about it all the time. We’ve got an opportunity to become legends.
“It means that little bit more to me because I know what this club means and if I was able to do that for my people it would be something that I would give everything for.”
Having established himself in the St Johnstone back line this season, captained the club and signed a new deal, things couldn’t be going much better for the towering ex-Hearts defender.

Most people around the world would see the turmoil in America right now and would want to steer clear... but for New England Revolution star Matt Polster, being back in the States is exactly where he wants to be.
An 18-month spell playing under Steven Gerrard in the Scottish top-flight provided his first real experience of life outside of America and an invaluable opportunity to learn as a footballer in an unfamiliar environment.
Whilst, ultimately, the move didn’t pan out as anyone would have hoped, the versatile American looks back fondly on his stay in Glasgow and took the time to talk with us at the 4th Official about it all.

It’s not every day that you get to speak with someone who can boast winning the top tiers in both English and Scottish football, but earlier this week I did just that. A huge thanks to Mark from Glasgow (who is also an early supporter of The 4th Official) for arranging this one.
Nigel Spackman might be more familiar to you these days for his regular appearances across BT, Sky and Amazon’s coverage of football, but in the 80s and 90s he racked up an incredibly successful playing career, pulling on the colours of Bournemouth, Chelsea, Liverpool and Rangers, to name a few.

When I sat down to chat with Callum Hendry, I wanted to make sure of one thing… that the conversation wasn’t dominated by the topic of his dad, Colin.
Callum is a footballer in his own right – but, of course, it is impossible to ignore the status of his old man. Hendry Senior has an English Premier League winners medal in the cabinet and over 50 caps for the national team, including a few at a World Cup… with credentials like that, Cal was destined for a career on the football pitch. And it’s obvious where his inspiration comes from.
“I honestly don’t think I would still be a footballer if it wasn’t for my dad.”
All of that said, the young St Johnstone striker is ready to step out of the shadows and really start to make a name for himself. His desire to be known as “Callum Hendry at St Johnstone” is clear.
In this feature-length interview, we covered it all. His upbringing in football, his time at Blackburn, the move up north to St Johnstone and his ambitions for the future. To his credit, Callum also spoke very openly about the tough times in his childhood and how hard he has worked to overcome adversity and make it in the game.

And when I was researching the young Scotsman’s football career for this interview, I had to double-take when I noticed his age. Only 24-years-old.
It’s something I couldn’t help asking him about too.
“Aye it does feel like that. I’ve turned 24 this year and it’s a bit of a shock.”
Not only does his career boast a series of stats that a lot of seasoned professionals would be proud of – his manner in this interview defied his young age as well. The grounding in life that he has been given by his family, and the football clubs he’s spent time with, has set him up very well for the rest of his career.
In this thirty-minute conversation with Greg Docherty, we covered it all.
His football upbringing with Hamilton Accies, the dream move to Rangers, loan spells with Shrewsbury and Hibs and his latest venture south with a permanent switch to League One’s Hull City. I also couldn’t resist asking him if he thought Rangers had what it takes to stop Celtic on their quest for ten in a row…

As a self-confessed football and comms geek it was difficult not to feel a bit star struck when I logged into a zoom call this week and saw the name ‘Clive Tyldesley’ on screen…
With a career as successful as his – commentating on 17 Champions League finals and covering six World Cups, to name a couple of achievements – it was easy to feel a bit out of place on the other end of the call, but a quick exchange before the recording started eased off any nerves.
One of the many reasons why Clive Tyldesley is such a well-loved commentator is because of his friendly nature… the feeling that you’d “love to have a pint with that guy”, and after 30 seconds on the phone to him, that comforting feeling was there in abundance.
Any “fan-boy” nerves on my part were cast aside and the opportunity to ask him as many questions in the space of an hour was one that I was going to make the most of.
But first – a gift! Clive had gone out of his way to send over an amazing piece of artwork. It was a framed commentary chart from his coverage of the 2005 Champions League Final – AC Milan vs Liverpool if you need reminding.

Daniel Stendel’s appointment as Manager of Hearts was met with a lot of excitement back in December last year...
Fans were over-the-moon to finally have a Head Coach who favoured attack-minded football over a tactical, defensive approach. Supporters were unanimous in their view that Ann Budge had made the right choice to dig the club out of the hole it was in and start moving in the right direction.
So, what went wrong?
A few months after the German’s protracted exit from Hearts – after the SPFL decided to demote the club to the Championship – we caught up over Zoom to talk it all through.

You’d be forgiven for thinking that I was writing about Liverpool’s Premier League and Champions League winning left-back, Andy Robertson… instead, let me introduce you to a youngster at Hibs who is aiming to follow in some famous footsteps.
On a sunny Saturday afternoon, I dialled in to a zoom call with 18-year-old Steven Bradley of Hibernian.
“I’ve never done any interviews like this before mate, so I’m a bit nervous” – the first words he uttered before the recording started. He shouldn’t have been. After half-an-hour of chat about all things football, I’m surprised that “nervous” is a word that the young winger has in his vocabulary.
Confidence is clearly something that Bradley has in spades – which will serve him well as he embarks upon a pivotal season in his career.
Hibs are working on a development plan for him right now, which might result in a loan move, or a season on the periphery of the first team squad – either way, he knows that he needs to take every opportunity to show the Easter Road hierarchy what he is capable of.
