The Barbie Movie. People either love it or hate it. They're heading to theaters dressed in pink or their fave Barbie dream outfit or standing their ground and saying, "No way, I don't want to see that feminist propaganda." Many people blame retailers, corporations, and industries (beauty, weight loss, etc.) for all of the societal pressures women face, but really, aren't WE to blame? WE, the people of the world? I think so! Most definitely! Tune in to today's episode to hear why I think the Barbie movie gives women someone (or something) to blame for their poor self-image and why I think we are playing victim rather than wanting to rise above it all.

Kacey's Podcast: (coming soon)
We've officially arrived into a new year. That means it's time for resolutions, goals, and lists. Bleh! I don't want you to waste your time on that! Resolutions end up getting broken, and you end up feeling like a loser instead of a champion.
Today, I'm talking about dropping the masks we wear in our lives and living TRUE to ourselves. We all wear masks--at church, at work, with our spouse or partner. We are constantly acting and performing, and as a single and strong woman, it's time for you to stop wearing the masks and start being true to yourself!
Years ago, I worked for a national scrapbooking magazine. One of our amazing contributors, Ali Edwards, started her "One Little Word" movement in 2007 and it's a practice I've embraced for over 10 years now. Choosing one word for you to honor and live by for the year helps you keep focused on ONLY ONE THING...but in a way, it bleeds into so many big things.
Drop your masks, choose your word for the year, and let's make 2022 the best year yet.

December brings all of us the most wonderful time of the year, but it's also THE most stressful time of the year--especially if you're a single woman. There are gifts to buy, parties to attend, kids and activities and the feelings of loneliness can be overwhelming. In this episode I share 6 ways to have an amazing holiday season so you can really enjoy what the holidays have to offer. Get ready to take some notes, because this is an important episode!
It's common for women to lose themselves in caring for others -- more common than it should be, and that's exactly what I did in my first marriage. I loved being a mother, and I found great joy in that, but the rest of my life was lived on auto pilot. As the years went by, I found myself unhappy in my marriage, wondering who I really was, and later, dealing with the end of my marriage with four young children.
When you're faced with a divorce, or a relationship ending, it can seem easy just to hide under the covers and wish the world would swallow you up. But you know that you just can't do that. The pain of a separation can be debilitating, especially when you're splitting from a toxic ex. In this episode I share stories about my first divorce and the devastation I felt when I learned my husband was having an affair. I considered walking away from everything just to avoid the bullying and pain, until a friend reminded me I had a lot to fight for.
If you're experiencing feelings of running away or hiding under the covers as your world is changing because of divorce, I SEE YOU. I know exactly what you're going through. But girl, your life is too valuable to waste. Believe me, you're destined to do big things.

I'm so excited you're joining me on the Single and Strong podcast! I'm Lori Linford, and I created this podcast as a place for strong, single women to learn how to lean in and become the best version of themselves while being single. After my first divorce 10 years ago (I'm a 2x divorce winner), I didn't see many resources out there for the sole purpose of being in a community of strong, empowered women, and learning to navigate singleness intentionally. So, the Single and Strong podcast was born.
In this bonus episode, I review the 6 main topics we'll be discussing on the podcast (but know that I'm sure this podcast will be ever-evolving). Take a listen to learn a bit more about me and my story, and why this podcast is so important to me and to single women everywhere.

Launching in December 2021!
Welcome to the Single & Strong Podcast. I’m your host, Lori Linford.
I’ve created this podcast for all of you single and soon-to-be single women to help guide you through the crazy terrain of being single in a strong and empowered way. Your relationship status may have changed, and your life is probably changing daily, but I promise you that this new chapter can be your most successful one yet.
On this podcast we talk about creating the new woman you’re becoming in this new season of your life—trust me, for lots of us, change is NOT easy, but it CAN be so amazing once you realize you’ve been given this new beginning and you can be whoever you truly want to be! Yes, really!
We also discuss divorce, mental health, finances, parenting, dating, breakups, abuse, trauma, and so much more. Lots of us get frustrated in this new world of being single, and you may even judge yourself for your marriage or your relationship failing, but I want you to know that you aren’t alone. I invite you to come along with me on this journey through being solo, together.
So let me share a little about me: I’m a single mom, mentor and teacher, I’m a coach and I’m a BIG cheerleader for women. I’ve lived in Utah for most of my life, with a 3 year pit-stop in San Diego in my early 20s (and I’m truly a California sunshine beach girl at heart). I’ve been navigating this world of divorce, singleness, remarriage, and divorce and singleness AGAIN for over 10 years.
After my first divorce, I felt SO MUCH shame and guilt because my marriage failed. I told friends and family that being divorced was like packing for a trip to Hawaii and you end up getting dropped off in Alaska—you aren’t prepared, you aren’t ready for it, and you’re lost and confused. And let me tell you that the second time it was just as uncomfortable.
I’ve now been single for over 5 years and I’ve successfully raised 4 kids from my first marriage (parenting adult children is awesome!). And now I’m deep in the trenches of raising my young daughter from my second marriage after a surprise pregnancy at 45, so trust me when I say I ABSOLUTELY understand being single and single-parenting.
I hope you’ll join me as we grow together as single women and that you’ll feel strong in every aspect of your single life. My guests and I will share inspiring stories and give you new tools to help you be a better single parent, to stay in your power with your abusive or toxic ex, to be more confident in your life--allowing you to make more money, and so much more!
New episodes of this podcast will available every Wednesday, so be sure to subscribe and feel if you want to say hello or share with me a subject you’d like me to do an episode on, free to send me a DM on Instagram @LoriLinford! You can also join our community on Facebook by searching Single and Strong. I can’t wait to see you shine as a strong, single woman!
