Hey Friend, This week's episode I'm sharing a podcast update. We’re going to be on a short hiatus after today for a little while. It’s my birthday in a few days and normally around this time I do a lot of life reflection and reevaluate many areas of my life. And when I did that, I knew that I couldn’t keep going with the show as it is right now. It has become unsustainable in its current format. And if you know me, that’s a huge filter for my life. Is this sustainable? If not, how can I make it sustainable? What’s possible? How can this be better? So in order to make the show more sustainable for the long term we’re hitting pause. This isn’t the end. Just a short hiatus. We’ll be back. I promise.

Listen in as I share about:

  • Why I’m taking this hiatus right now mid-season
  • What’s happening behind the scenes.
  • What’s the plan for the show moving forward to make it more sustainable.
  • Inviting you all to maybe hit pause on something in your life to retool it and make things better. More sustainable for you.

Liz shares how her family used house sitting and couch surfing to afford the year-long adventure, and how the experience inspired her children's respective paths. She also discusses how they adapted upon their return to their native New Zealand, and looking for alternative ways of earning an income, eventually leading to the creation of an online business and their own successful travel blog and book. Liz is a best selling author, a podcaster, YouTuber and a storyteller. In 2018, Liz and her husband put into place another life long dream. Hey Friend, In this week’s episode, award-winning health expert and national best seller, Nicole Kerr joins me on the podcast to talk about surviving a near-death experience and immense trauma. I share about how 2023 was the first full year I wholeheartedly embraced and found joy in being child-free. I shed light on the changes I made throughout the year, from my home to my conversations, social media habits and overall business model. Lastly, I give you insight into future plans which include travel, passion projects and strengthening friendships with other child-free women.

Listen in as we talk about:

  • Embracing being childless to childfree
  • Acknowledging how the narrative when you’re older is geared towards moms and parents

Hey Friends, In this last episode of the season, I sit down with Tara Rhodes, a certified leadership coach, to talk all about the concept of ambition. Tara shares her story of how her ambition has impacted both her personal and professional relationships and the self-reflection process she underwent to shift her focus from being overly ambitious and task-oriented to being driven and values-driven. We discuss the pros and cons of both being task-oriented and relationship-oriented, the credibility of personality tests, the perception of the word 'ambition', the significance of feedback and communication in personal growth, and how Tara's coaching journey has impacted her perception of ambition. As an award-winning trainer and facilitator and a certified leadership coach, Tara Rhodes helps emerging leaders define a vision for their leadership so that the people they influence can do their best work. She has been lucky to work with entry level to executive level employees at various company stages, and has come to understand that purpose driven companies can only be successful when their people are confident to do the work required. Ultimately she is dedicated to helping people gain clarity on the life they want to live, and supporting them develop healthy habits to make that happen. Hey Friends, In this episode, we emphasize the importance of vulnerability, as Katherine shares an impactful event wherein she suffered a seizure while abroad in Portugal, erasing her prepared speech to be delivered at a tech conference. Despite the setback, Katherine still went on stage, shared her experience with the audience, and gave her speech - an act of vulnerability that was well received. As you’ll hear in our conversation, this event sparked a newfound approach to her personal and business interactions. Since then, she uses vulnerability and genuine curiosity as tools to foster psychologically safe spaces and deeper connections.

From being the little girl who sold shares in her "company" and played HR (even firing her own mother!) to the traveling entrepreneur and speaker that she is now, Katherine McCord has had quite a journey. Katherine has multiple physical and neuro diversities, ranging from MCAS and seizures to Bipolar and OCD, and says, “I am successful WITH my diagnosis, not in spite of them”. Born in Dallas, Texas she began rescuing animals early on and as an adult became a proud foster mama, even for wolves and exotic animals. She currently lives in Florida and runs a company called Titan Management, which she founded in 2014 with the purpose of shaking up HR and recruiting. She also hosts two shows, Career Launch Live and Super Mania Show, and is the COO and Board Member of the international neurodiversity and nonlinear group, The Octopus Movement. Highlighting the power of being vulnerable and asking questions, Katherine encourages others to embrace this approach for exponential personal and professional growth.

Listen in as we talk about:

  • Her story of experiencing a seizure while traveling
  • What this experience taught her about being vulnerable
  • Learning how to handle peoples’ questions
  • Identifying opportunities for expansion
  • Being prepared to let people go in your life

Hey Friends, This week, we’re talking about neurodivergence, as my guest shares her story of receiving a diagnosis of Autism later in life. Through our conversation, Amy Ewbank provides valuable insights into the importance of supporting and embracing neurodivergent individuals. She sheds light on the need to challenge societal expectations and enable a more inclusive and accepting environment.

Amy describes herself as a deliciously flawed, complex and wonderful human being, who supports other deliciously flawed, complex and wonderful human beings to live their best lives. Her career has been squiggly, from working as an actor in theatre and BBC Radio, to writing plays and directing actors through my theatre company and charity Doll's Eye Theatre, to being a passionate mental health advocate, a people development guru, an often impatient mother to a small lovely 6 year old thug, proudly autistic, an ardent and fervent feminist, a splashy creative and a lover of all things story.

Amy is a life coach and works with clients using the HerStory framework to encourage them to jangle their lives about a bit, until the contents plonk on the floor, have a reshuffle, have a play, and pick them up again, revived, shiny and new

Join us as we explore the powerful connection between shame, socialization, and the experiences of neurodivergent individuals, and discover ways to uplift and empower those on this journey.

Hey Friends,

Have you ever thought about opening up your relationship? Maybe you’re curious about if it will really work or not, and the level of trust and communication that is needed in order to navigate it successfully.

From having different partners, to learning how to communicate, and creating a deeper bond within their own marriage, Katherine Lazruk shares what the experience of opening up her marriage has been like.

Join us as we welcome Katherine Lazaruk, a poet and author of the collection Love is Not Pie: Variations on a Monogamish Theme. Love is Not Pie is a personal exploration navigating the world of consensual non-monogamy and polyamory.

Katherine Lazaruk wrote this poetry collection after her own experience of embracing radical honesty in her marriage, when she extended herself into the realm of non-traditional relationships. She has spent nearly twenty-five years exploring personal growth, self-awareness, and self-acceptance. She brings that knowledge to her poetry, sharing what it feels like to be fully embodied, fully yourself, and fully expressed in this limited world.

She is a huge fan of opera, jazz, and of course poetry—reading the work of others as well as creating her own. When she's not working or writing, she can be found enjoying live music, movies, good food and drinks and hanging out with her dear husband, David, and a plethora of chosen family and good friends.

Listen in as we talk about:

  • What to know about Katherine off the bat

Hey Friends,

It’s my birthday month, and I thought it would be fun to do something different with this episode! As you know, I tend to do a lot of reflection around this time of year…what went well, what I loved, what I would do differently, and so on, so this week’s conversation is about the promises we keep (or don’t keep) to ourselves.

In this episode, I take a moment to read a few listener reviews of the show and ask for one special birthday wish from you. Then, I dive into today’s topic of ‘keeping promises to ourselves’.

I candidly share why it's been so easy for me to break promises to myself and the impact it has had on my self-esteem and self-worth. Can you relate?

We then talk about the power of committing to the little promises we make for ourselves and how it can lead to a greater sense of self-confidence and belief.

I also get into the relationship between procrastination and perfectionism and how they can contribute to broken promises, as well as the importance of remembering and getting back to your 'why' to help you stay motivated and focused.

Throughout the episode, I emphasize the benefit of keeping the little promises we make and how it can lead to greater success and fulfillment. I encourage you to remove shame, judgment, and self-blame and offer tips to help me flex my discipline muscle and stay on track.

Listen in as we talk about

  • Reviews of the show & my one birthday wish from you!
  • Noticing the promises I made to myself and if I've kept them or broken them
  • Why it's so easy to break promises to ourselves
  • The power of commiting to the little promises we make for ourselves
  • Realizing there were cracks in my belief of myself
  • The relationship between procrastination and perfectionism

Hey Friends,

This week’s conversation is about gaining and losing weight. It’s no secret that sometimes we gravitate towards the bag of chips or other snacks when we’re stressed. That, paired with the impact stress has on our body, can leave us feeling defeated and overwhelmed.

But what if it didn’t have to be that way? What if there was a way through the stress, trauma and struggle we go through in life, in a healthy way?

Joining me for this conversation is Debbie Freeman. Debbie is a motivational speaker who suffered physical and sexual abuse as a child and was determined to make her dreams a reality. She's a real person that has lost everything, including her own self-confidence through a painful divorce with an addict, which had led her to gain 100 pounds.

Through self-love and determination, she found herself again and was able to lose the weight and go on to become United States of America’s Miss Nevada in 2021 at the age of 51.

Listen in as we talk about

  • Finding out about her now ex-husbands addictions
  • How he took everything from her and their family
  • Starting to eat to fill a void and help manage her stress
  • Releasing her husband and their marriage, and choosing to go on a new, healthier path

  • Evolving into the pageant industry and helping other women
  • Releasing control of her life and allowing things to fall into place

Hey Friends,

This week’s episode is a solo show with me, and we’re talking about how I learned I was insulin resistant.

It all began during my fertility journey years ago, when I discovered that I was insulin resistant and had PCOS by fluke. Despite the different prescriptions and medications prescribed by my doctors, to help my fertility, I was frustrated with the lack of focus my doctors weren’t taking when it came to my food, workout, or lifestyle choices. The low hanging fruit of health is my option!

I discovered that food and nutrition played a significant role in managing my insulin resistance and regulating my menstrual cycle, and through dietary changes and lifestyle modifications, I was able to improve my overall health and wellness.

During the episode, we will touch on the changes I made to my diet and lifestyle that have helped me manage my insulin resistance. I'll also be sharing some of the supplements that have worked for me.

If you're struggling with insulin resistance or want to learn more about how to manage it through healthy lifestyle choices, then be sure to tune in!

Listen in as we talk about

  • How it all stemmed from my fertility journey
  • How my doctors reacted with prescriptions and medications
  • My frustration with doctors not asking about my food, workout or lifestyle choices
  • How food and nutrition changed my menstrual cycle
  • The changes you can make to help insulin resistance
  • Supplements that have worked for me
  • Taking note of which habits you can switch out

After she passed, my family and I were blessed to have received an inheritance from her, thanks to all of the years she and my grandfather worked sacrificed for us.

Imagine going about your day as you regularly do, and experiencing a moment that will change your life forever.

Sarah "Bolty" Bolton works with women to help them own their voice, their impact, and their power. Prior to becoming a coach, Sarah worked in the beauty industry as a licensed cosmetologist and esthetician. She absolutely loved helping people feel beautiful and confident in their own skin.

In 2017, she found herself in a blow-drying class at the salon and suddenly was unable to pull the brush through the hair. The blow dryer in her other hand felt like she was holding a bag full of cinder blocks. She was later diagnosed with a rare neuromuscular condition that causes sudden episodes of muscle weakness called Myasthenia Gravis, impacting the voluntary muscles in her body, especially her hands. Her life and her career as she knew them were over. She knew she needed to reinvent and move in a new direction.

Sarah had been working with a coach prior to this, and she saw the impact coaching had had on her own life. She saw something for herself in being a coach and being able to support her clients in an even more profound way.

She enrolled and graduated from Accomplishment Coaching's Coach Training Program in 2020, and has been building her coaching practice ever since. Her "money makers" (her hands) shifted to her new money makers (her ears). She now works with women and helps them own their voice, their impact, and their power so that they can break free from the "rules" and live their authentic life, full of joy, ease, fulfillment, and delight.

Listen in as we talk about:

  • Becoming diagnosed with a rare muscular condition
  • How life has changed since her diagnosis
  • Shifting her career from being a hairstylist to helping people with invisible illnesses
  • Working through the grief and loss of the life she thought she was supposed to have
  • Sarah’s relationship with her body now
  • Mindset shifts you can make to take steps forward in hard times
  • The shame and feelings of burden that came with her diagnosis

Have you ever experienced this before? Walking into a room and slowly noticing that no one looks like you?

It’s been a long time since I’ve felt this way, and attending a recent event reminded me of how painful this realization truly is.

As a mixed woman of colour, I’ve had my fair share of experiences over the years, but I haven’t experienced being the only person of colour in the room in a long time.

I know there is still a lot of work that needs to be done within companies and communities in order to ensure there is equality and diversity across the board. I also know it’s my mission to bring these conversations to light and transform the narrative within the spaces I’m in.

I hope you take something away in this week’s podcast episode, and if this episode will help someone else you know, please share it with them.

Listen in as we talk about:

  • How I felt attending an event and being the only visible minority there
  • The importance of groups and spaces that are inclusive of all races and people of colour
