Hey Guys, it has been 8 months since I last join any Splinterlands challenge. This is basically my first entry in the Splitnerlands challenge, Battle Mage Secrets featuring Earthquake in the ruleset.

EARTHQUAKE is the ruleset that dealt 2 melee damages at the end of the round to monsters that does not have Flying ability.

StrategyFly high Butterfly!!! The mosts basic strategy to avoid the damage dealt by the Earthquake is to use monsters with Flying ability. Right now, there is only one Summoner that provides the Flying ability to friendly monsters. With Brighton Bloom, you never need to worry about monsters not having the Flying ability. You can focus on your attack strategy without worrying how to defend the damage from the Earthquake.

Snare Trap!!! This strategy focuses on countering the Flying ability of the monsters. A monster with Snares ability will not miss against monsters with Flying ability. Aside from the 100% hit chance, Snares also removed the effect of Flying ability to the target monster. Meaning those monsters will now take 2 melee damage from the Earthquake.

Vera Salacia is the only Summoner that provides the Snare ability to all friendly monsters.

Don't worry since this strategy can also be countered. A counter to a counter. Cleanse can remove the effect of Snare so its good to have a monster with Cleanse as well if you feel your opponent will use the Snare Trap!

Band-Aid Solution: Shield, Armor, Heal to the RescueThis is also one of the common strategy if you do not have the Flying monsters or Brighton Bloom summoner.

| | Protect: All friendly monsters gain 2 armor. The armor will protect you temporarily from the Earthquake, so be sure to survive longer than your enemy to win the match. | | --- | --- |

| | Shield: Reduced damaged from melee and ranged attacks. Since the damage from the Earthquake is considered as melee, having a Shield can reduced the damage of Earthquake to 1. | | --- | --- |

| | Heal : Restore a portion of the monsters health each round. One-way to survive is to have a higher heatlh regeneration than the damage received. | | --- | --- |

| | Repair : Restore some armor to the friendly monster whose armor taken the most damage Similar to the Heal ability which regenerates your health (approximately 1/3 of max HP, round down). The Repair ability regenerates the Armor by 2. This is enough to negate the damage from Earthquake | | --- | --- |

Rulesets

| Ruleset | | --- | | Taking sides | Neutral monsters may not be used in battles | | Earthquake | Non-flying monsters take 2 melee damage at the end of the battle | | Super Melee | All melee attack monsters have the Sneak ability |

My Strategy:

In this battle, both of us selected the Dragon splinter since the Dragon deck has the most cards with Flying ability. Even our line-up is very similar having 4 similar monsters.

I focused on using Flying monsters with the balanced of melee, magic and ranged attack monsters. And for the Summoner, I figured out that there's a higher chance that my opponent will use a heavy magic line-up. (By the way, even if my opponent will not use the magic line-up, I might still go with Sthispa especially in the Gold League since it is level 5. My Quix the Devious is only level 2 which can limit the level of the monsters deployed.

The combination of Flying, Blind and Phase ability allows me to survive the barrage of magic attacks from the enemy.

My opponent on the otherhand uses Quix the Devious as the Summoner to reduced the ranged damage and speed of my monsters. Since most of the monsters my opponent use were Magic attackers, I can simply evade those attacks with the help of Phase ability. The higher speed helps as it allows the monsters attack first but definitely the RNG is on our side. Take note as well that aside from having deployed the same monsters, they have a higher level compare to mine.

Post Match Analysis

As I mentioned in my previous blog, I'm building my Chaos Legion deck for Silver league. I mostly collects gold foil cards for Common and Rare cards while normal foil for Epic and Legendary cards as of the moment. I still wanted to collect gold foil for both Epic and Legendary but right now I may rent this cards while I'm still continue to save DEC rewards and Hive rewards from posting contents.

So in this brawl, I am still playing at Fray10 with only Chaos Legion Silver League cap.

I spent around more or less 200 DECs in rentals since I rent for two days. I filled my frays early since I will be busy in the final day. As a suggestion, it is still better to submit frays within the last 24 hours specially if you have a lot of cards to rent. Renting cards for 1 day is way cheaper than to rent for 2 days. Also, in case you rent cards and submit battles early, you can still rent for 1 day then just extend the cards for those battles that are not yet completed. If the battle result was already determined, whether win or lose, there's no need to extend the rental for those cards since the result is already final.

As a result of this brawl, I managed to get 4 victories from battles and 2 from Opponent fled.

  1. Match against @vexbroozer https://splinterlands.com?p=battle&id=sm_eS82IyHoklYcJGatv6hX&ref=jpleron

| Battle Condition | Description | | --- | --- | | Rule #1 | Reverse Speed: Monsters with the lowest Speed attack first and have the highest chance of evading attacks. | | Rule #2 | Spreading Fury: All Monsters have the Enrage ability. | | Mana Cap | 46 | | Allowed Splinter | Fire, Death, Earth, and Dragon |

In this match, Spreading Fury will gave all monsters the Enrage ability. The Enrage ability works well for melee monsters since both Speed and Melee damage will increase due to the effect of Enrage. While Reverse Speed will allow Monsters with lower Speed to attack first and have a higher evasion rate.

This two ruleset combined will be perfect for Fire Splinter. Fire Splinter have a lot of Monsters with the lowest Speed stats. Also our Summoner Tarsa provides a Melee damage buff to all friendly monsters.

With this in mind, both of us selected the Fire Splinter. We almost have the same line-up with Grum Flameblade as our main tank and Chimney Wallstop as the 2nd tank.

| | Tarsa provides additional melee damage and health to each friendly monsters. As I mentioned, Fire Splinter will benefit from two ruleset that is why I used this one. | | --- | --- | | | Grum Flameblade has high armor and high HP with only 1 Speed. This is the best tank for this ruleset. Also since the Earth Splinter is available, it is also best to have Monsters with Void and Void Armor to counter a possible heavy Magic line-up. | | | Chimney Wallstop is a melee monster with Reach ability that allows it to attack even in the 2nd position. It has high HP, high melee damage and only has 1 Speed. Again, one of the perfect monster for this ruleset. | | | Tenyii Striker is a melee monster with Sneak ability that allows it to attack in any position and targets the enemy monster at the backline. | | | Djinn Inferni has a Giant Killer ability which is very effective against monsters with high mana cost. We had 46 Mana cap which gives a lot of chance to encounter monsters with high mana cap. | | | Djinn Apprentice is a Magic damage dealer and does not have any abilities. The reason why I used this monster is because I don't have enough melee monsters with Sneak or Opportunity ability. Having a magic damage will also deals damage directly to monster's health bypassing the armor. | | | Doctor Blight is a neutral monster with Affliction and Camouflage at level 1 while getting Poison at level 2. Aside from not being targeted due to its Camouflage ability, the Poison ability really is a deadly attack once it's triggered. |

  1. Match against @trumano https://splinterlands.com?p=battle&id=sm_ARIhnT6Ob44RTnv7l2cb&ref=jpleron

| Battle Condition | Description | | --- | --- | | Rule #1 | Armored Up: All Monsters have 2 Armor in addition to their normal Armor stat. | | Rule #2 | Holy Protection: All Monsters have the Divine Shield ability. | | Mana Cap | 40 | | Allowed Splinter | Fire, Water, Earth, and Dragon |

With the Holy Protection and Armored Up ruleset, the probability of using a Magic line-up is very high since Magic damage bypass the Armors. Our enemy uses Baakjira as the main tank to counter our line-up. Fortunately, we were able to take down Baakjira quickly with the help of Poison damage and enhanced Magic damage from Obsidian's buff.

I placed Mycelic Slipspawn at the backline to force our enemy to attack it while using Spirit Hoarder's healing ability TRIAGE, to support it. Queen Mycelia's Protection gives additional 2 armors on top of the Armored Up rulset, leaving our our monsters with 4 Armors in total each.

Regal Peryton may have a low health but thanks to the Armor, Tank Heal ability, and Taunting from Mycelic Slipspawn, we managed to survive every round of attacks.

  1. Match against @smurk https://splinterlands.com?p=battle&id=sm_RG7v3EMRG1MwZXtWx8CB&ref=jpleron

| Battle Condition | Description | | --- | --- | | Rule #1 | Weak Magic: Magic attacks hit Armor before reducing Health. | | Rule #2 | Lost Legendaries - Legendary monsters may not be used in this battles | | Mana Cap | 17 | | Allowed Splinter | Fire, Water, and Death |

With the Weak Magic ruleset, it is recommended to use monsters with Armors or Summoners that provides additional armor to our monsters. This is the main reason why we both used Kelya Frendul as our summoner and Scavo Hireling for the Armor Repair ability.

The only difference in our line-up is that my opponent has only 1 Monster that can attack per round. His Relenor Cleaver may have 4 damage in total and can destroy the armor of our tank Cruel Sethropod in a single strike, but we have Scavo Hireling to repair it. Scavo Hireling can only heal 2 Armor but that is enough to absorb the damage from Relenor Cleaver in every round.

While on our line-up, aside from Cruel Sethropod, we also have Isgald Vorst that can deal damage. Isgald Vorst has the Opportunity ability which allows it to attack monsters with the lowest health. In this case, it targets Hardy Stonefish first and then proceed with enemy's Scavo Hireling. Scavo Hireling can only repair armor of one monster every round, but since we have two monsters that can deal damage to different monsters. Scavo Hireling will prioritized monsters whose armor received a lot of damage. In case of tie, it will prioritized monsters on the front line.

After Isgald Vorst eliminated Scavo Hireling, enemy's Relenor Cleaver will feel the damage from our two monsters. Also, after killing those 2 monsters at the backline, Isgald Vorst able to stack 4 melee damage from Bloodlust ability.

  1. Match against @coldzera5 https://splinterlands.com?p=battle&id=sm_kCquRKRGuESGpvVIqku2&ref=jpleron

| Battle Condition | Description | | --- | --- | | Rule #1 | Earthquake: Non-flying Monsters take 2 Melee damage at the end of each round. | | Rule #2 | Close Range: Ranged attacks may be used in the first position in battles. | | Mana Cap | 44 | | Allowed Splinter | Fire, and Life |

With the Earthquake ruleset, it is recommended to have monsters with Flying ability to avoid the 2 melee damage at the end of each round. Brighton Bloom Summoner grants Flying ability to all monsters but is not available due to Chaos Legion restriction. We have to rely with monsters that has Flying ability on its own. If in case you do not have Flying ability, having an Armor will somehow protect you from initial damage due to the Earthquake rule.

Also, since Close Range ruleset is available as well, having a Ranged monster may also be a good choice since they will be able to attack even at the first position.

With those two ruleset in mind, the perfect Splinter for this ruleset combination is Life Splinter. There are a lot of monsters from Chaos Legion Life Splinter that has Flying ability like Uriel the Purifier, Adelade Brightwing, and Celestial Harpy. As you can see, my opponent uses the same Life Splinter.

In order to utilize the increase ranged damage buff from General Sloan, I selected Prismologist and Portal Spinner. Both have high ranged damage and at the same time have Armors to absorb the damage from Earthquake. While our enemy ranged monsters did not have Armors to protect them from Earthquake. It is also good to have Armors since Adelade Brightwing has Armor Repair to heal it.

Our Gladius for this match is Captain Katie which has the Snipe ability. With 3 Magic damage, it easily killed enemy's Time Mage. Although it doesn't have Armors, once its Bloodlust ability is triggered, it will gain 1 additional stats to all (magic damage, speed, and health).

This is the end of my post analyis. Hopefully, you got something reading this post.

This is a bit short compare with my previous brawl report due to 2 of my opponent fled the match.

What do you think of the new guild brawl format? Do you miss the Untamed only frays?

Post Match Analysis

I have been building my team for Chaos Legion Silver league in a while. I haven't completed it yet with most Epics and Legendary cards still missing. Hopefully I will be able to complete it without renting anymore. So in this brawl, I was assigned at Fray10 with only Chaos Legion Silver League cap.

I spent around 100 DECs in rentals. This is less compared with the previous expenses I got from renting cards for brawl. I also have some delegations from @scroff which really helps.

I managed to get 4 victories, 1 defeat and 1 Opponent fled.

  1. Match against @chromatic-dragon https://splinterlands.com?p=battle&id=sm_CM5ANC9HE2r6o7W6b42A&ref=jpleron

| Battle Condition | Description | | --- | --- | | Rule #1 | Spreading Fury: All Monsters have the Enrage ability. | | Mana Cap | 34 | | Allowed Splinter | Fire, Life, Water, Death and Dragon |

In this match, Spreading Fury provides all monsters with Enrage ability. Enrage ability increases Monster's Speed and Melee damage when it receives an attack. With this, it is better to use Melee attacking monsters to fully utilized this Enrage ability.

| | Tarsa provides additional Melee damage and Health to each friendly monsters. Since I am deploying an all-melee cards, the stats will benefit all monsters. | | --- | --- | | | Grum Flameblade has high armor and high HP. This is a good tank against Magic monsters as it has both Void and Void Armor ability. It also has the Bloodlust ability which increases its stats whenever it deals a killing blow. | | | Radiated Brute is a melee monster with Reach ability that allows it to attack even in the 2nd position. It has high HP and high melee damage as well. | | | Fina Voxom was our Gladius cards for this match. It is a melee monster with Opportunity ability that allows it to attack in any position and targets the enemy monster with the lowest HP. Monsters with Opportunity are considered the finisher and is the highest priority in every line-up. With the help of Opportunity ability, the effect of Bloodlust can easily be triggered. | | | Scavo Hireling has the Armor Repair ability which is very helpful to support our main tank, Grum Flameblade. | | | Tenyii Striker has the Sneak ability which allows him to attack backline monsters. It has a high damage and HP, as well as the Dodge ability when it reaches level 4. | | | Chaos Agent is a neutral monster with no attack. It has the Dodge ability which helps to evade attacks from melee or range. Chaos Agent can be used as a decoy. I place it on the last position so it can take damage from Sneak, and Opportunity ability since it has the lowest HP from all of my monsters. |

  1. Match against @jimbei-onepiece https://splinterlands.com?p=battle&id=sm_9CZFjKNYHpORQ9LVqmGq&ref=jpleron

| Battle Condition | Description | | --- | --- | | Rule #1 | Back to Basics - Monsters lose all abilities | | Rule #2 | Keep Your Distance: Monsters with Melee attack may not be used in battles. | | Mana Cap | 17 | | Allowed Splinter | Fire, Life, and Death |

With the Back to Basics and Keep Your Distance ruleset, the probability of using a Magic line-up is very high. Ranged monsters can only attack from the backline so once it reaches the first position, it cannot attack anymore.

Given this prediction, I opted to use Thaddius Brood to go for the defensive strategy. I deployed a pseudo-tanks, Riftwing and Chaos Agent, to absorb the damage from enemy attacks while Magi Necrosi and Weirding Warrior attacks from the baclkline.

We have almost the same strategy and only differs with the backline attackes. I managed to win this round because of speed, although it was a tight match.

| | Thaddius Brood reduces the magic damage and health of all opponent monsters. It is good for countering magic line-up and the minus 1 health is very crucial. | | --- | --- | | | Riftwing has a high Speed and high HP. It is a no-attack monster in which we can used as a pseudo-tanks as well. Its high HP is enough to absorb some damage from enemy attacks | | | Chaos Agent is also a no-attack monster with 2 HP which is good for absorbing few attacks from opponent. | | | Magi Necrosi has 2 magic damage, 6 Speed and 5 HP. Although its damage was reduce to 1 before of our enemy's Summoner, it is still a good choice since. | | | Weirding Warrior is a 2 mana monster with ranged attack. |

  1. Match against @cavantes https://splinterlands.com?p=battle&id=sm_hAMG8q9C7qUuOrxjqXjn&ref=jpleron

| Battle Condition | Description | | --- | --- | | Rule #1 | Back to Basics - Monsters lose all abilities | | Rule #2 | Rise of the Commons: Only Common and Rare Monsters may be used in battles | | Mana Cap | 60 | | Allowed Splinter | Fire, Earth, Water, Death, and Dragon |

With the Back to Basics, I opted to used Magic monsters paired with Obsidian as the Summoner to increased their damage. Dragon splinter was open with a lot of high mana monsters, but I thought that going for a strong magic line-up will be better.

We almost have the same line-up except for only 1 monster, I had Palidon Rakk with 12 HP while the enemy has Venari Knifer with 7 HP. I also have higher leveled monsters which helps in this situation.

| | Obsidian provides additional magic damage to friendly monsters. | | --- | --- | | | Mycelic Infantry has high melee damage and high HP as well which will be effective in absorbing a lot of damage from enemy monsters. | | | Palidon Rakk also has high melee damage and high HP. This is the only monster in which is different from our enemy line-up. | | | Venari Spellsmith is a magic monster from Neutral splinter. With the Rise of the Commons, we had limited monsters to choose from so I think its one of the good fit to our strategy. | | | Mycelic Slipspawn is a magic monster with 2 magic damage and a high HP as well. | | | Regal Peryton is a Flying monster with 2 magic attack. It has high speed and a decent HP as well. | | | Goblin Psychic is a magic monster with 2 magic damage as well. |

  1. Match against @ingi1976 https://splinterlands.com?p=battle&id=sm_Or3HB4YoXg2Y19wjcQ6p&ref=jpleron

| Battle Condition | Description | | --- | --- | | Rule #1 | Equalizer: The initial Health of all Monsters is equal to that of the Monster on either team with the highest base Health. | | Rule #2 | Earthquake: Non-flying Monsters take 2 Melee damage at the end of each round. | | Mana Cap | 99 | | Allowed Splinter | Water, Earth, Death, Life, and Death |

With the 99 mana cap battle and Earthquake ruleset, I opted to used Dragon and Life combination since it has a lot of monsters with Flying ability. I also deployed monsters with high armor like Carnage Titan since Earthquake damages the armor first before the heatlh.

I have five monsters with Flying abilities to counter the Earthquake ruleset:

  • Uriel the Purifier
  • Void Dragon
  • Chaos Dragon
  • Adelade Brightwing
  • Zyvax Vuul

On the otherhand, my enemy uses the Dragon and Death combination which utilizes Lira the Dark's Snare ability to remove the Flying abilities of my monsters. Although the enemy has less monster with Flying ability, he was able to counter our strategy with Snare to remove our Flying ability and also with the use of Giant Killer to deal double damage against monsters with 10 or more mana.

I may have won that match if only my Chaos Dragon is at level 2. The Blast ability had a huge factor in this match.

  1. Match against @aitatxu51 https://splinterlands.com?p=battle&id=sm_E408xXh4h9wPUP8Qk3jG&ref=jpleron

| Battle Condition | Description | | --- | --- | | Rule #1 | Unprotected: Monsters do not have any armor and do not get armor from Abilities or Summoner Buffs. | | Mana Cap | 54 | | Allowed Splinter | Fire, Earth, Death, and Life |

With the Unprotected ruleset, I opted to still go with Obsidian from Earth splinter. Aside from the heavy mage line-up the Earth Splinter have, I also utilized the Double Strike ability from Grund and Katrelba Gobson. Without the Armors, melee damage will directly hit the monster's health.

Our opponent used Legionnaire Alvar which is not ideal for this ruleset since its armor was negated. It also has low HP and low damage compare with Grund.

I also utilized Affliction ability to counter opponent's healing abilities. I have Doctor Blight which has Affliction and Poison ability. While Goblin Psychic has Affliction and Tank Heal ability.

Mycelic Slipspawn provide the much needed damage absorber in this match. Grund did not have to worry about being attack and was able to dealt a lot of damage with its Double Strike.

Hey Guys, its time to give the results of our latest guild brawl, ending this March with a bang. It's been a long time since we had completed all our frays, @jsundy and @haru-munyaa are back! It is expected though to have some fewer match counts because this brawl occured at the same time with end of season (which cause card's rental price to go up). Anyway, check out my post analysis on the brawl matches I had. If you want to check my previous post about why you need to join guild brawls, check this link

BRAWL RESULT

We're back at the number one spot! After been ranking 2nd or 3rd in the previous brawls and surviving with less battles than other guilds, we're able to taste the first spot earning more merits. Since we are now complete, in terms of frays submission, grinding the top spot is much easier with more chances to get a point.

Our guild received 21 Crowns as rewards while each of the participating member in our guild received 969 Merits. A bit low compared when we made 1200+ Merits for ranking 1st previously. This was due to low percentage of players joining this guild brawl. Probably because they are busy with the End of Season, or they had difficulty renting cards for this brawl because of the skyrocketing price of cards (an effect of the EoS).

I've opened another Gladius pack though nothing unusual or new cards. Anyways, we now have upgraded our Store level to 3 which means we will now get +40% Merits each brawl.

TOP BRAWLERS

  • The top finishers of this brawl are:

1st: @nothan01 with 7 wins and 2 losses

2nd: @metamike23 with 5 wins (UNDEFEATED)

3rd: @erman996 with 5 wins and 1 loss

4th: @haru-munyaa with 5 wins and 3 losses

5th: @lexiconical-1 with 4 wins and 2 losses

6th: @jpleron with 3 wins and 1 loss

7th: @papar with 3 wins and 1 loss

8th: @jsundy with 3 wins and 3 losses

9th: @jellyandbeeans with 2 wins and 2 losses

10th: @zahara22 with 1 win (UNDEFEATED)

11th: @ruiner7 with 1 win (UNDEFEATED)

12th: @olaf.gui with 1 win and 1 loss

13th: @scroff with 1 win and 2 losses

Booty Lickers Brawl Rewards: Aside from the merits we get in brawl rewards, our guild leader also gives DEC rewards to the member who gets the most win per Tier.

Tier1: Fray1 - Fray4 = 25 DEC

Tier2: Fray5 - Fray7 = 50 DEC

Tier3: Fray8 - Fray10 = 100 DEC

Tier4: Fray11 - Fray13 = 150 DEC

And these rewards are multiplied based on the guild performance (1st place is x4, 2nd place is x3, 3rd place is x2).

And here are the results of the latest brawl (03/31/2022):

Guild - 1st place - 21 crowns | 969 merits

TIER1: @nothan01 7 wins | 25 x 4 (1st) = 100 DEC

TIER2: @metamike23 5 wins | 50 x 4 (1st) = 200 DEC

TIER3: @erman966 5 wins | 100 x 4 (1st) = 400 DEC

TIER4: @scroff @olaf.gui @ruiner7 1 win | 150 x 4 (1st) = 600 DEC

Additional rewards on top of Tier rewards:

Undefeated & Tier Champ = Tier prize x 1

  • Tier2 (Fray6) @metamike23 = 200 DEC
  • Tier4 (Fray13) @ruiner7 = 600 DEC

Undefeated only = Tier prize x 0.5

Tier1: (Fray4) @Zahara22 = 50 DEC

Does your guild gives you that kind of motivation to perform your best in every brawl? If you haven't found join a guild, I suggest to comment your ign below so we can check your profile just in case we have slots open.

Post Match Analysis

I've wanted to get a sweep, unfortunately I was defeated in a match where my opponent had the same line-up with me, but with higher level.

  1. Match against GIGARAIJIN https://splinterlands.com?p=battle&id=sm_fJbFGYNLS9M49EehoDAw&ref=jpleron

| Battle Condition | Description | | --- | --- | | Rule #1 | Noxius Fumes - All Monsters start the battle poison | | Rule #2 | Melee Mayhem - Melee attack Monsters can attack from any position | | Mana Cap | 34 | | Allowed Splinter | Earth, Life, Water, and Dragon |

In this match, having a CLEANSE and HEAL ability is vital in order to survive the Poison damage at the end of each round. Since Melee monsters can attack from any position, is it better to deploy melee monster with high health as well.

| | Kelya Frendul provides additional speed and armor to each monsters. The additional Speed will be vital since we want to attack first than our enemy. Both of us used the same Summoner making these buffs somehow neutralized. | | --- | --- | | | Diemonshark has high armor and high HP. This is a good tank since it has high armor and HP suitable for a Poison rule. It also has the Trample ability which gives Diemonshark another turn when it killed the target monster on its attack. | | | Xenith Monk is a melee monster with Heal ability. Its healing effect can somehow neutralized the damage from being poison. And because of the ruleset, Xenith Monk can still attack even when place at the backline. | | | Alva the Crusher was our Gladius monster for this round. Aside from the Bloodlust ability, it also has the Shield ability which can somehow reduces the damage of melee attacking monsters. With the ruleset, it can also attack even when place at the backline. The Bloodlust effect can somehow help it to regain some health when dealing a killing blow to enemy monster, atleast providing a 1 HP per kill. | | | River Nymph has the Cleanse ability which is very helpful in this round to remove the Poison status from our main tank. | | | River Hellondale has the Resurrect ability which returns monsters back to life after dying with 1 HP. Although in this round, it is the Chaos Agent being resurrected after dying from Poison damage. | | | Chaos Agent is a neutral monster with no attack. It has the Dodge ability which helps to evade attacks from melee or range. Chaos Agent can be used as a decoy. I place it on the last position so it can take damage from Sneak, and Opportunity ability since it has low HP. |

  1. Match against TZOKY https://splinterlands.com?p=battle&id=sm_to1ofJy1PVGUw74n43Dr&ref=jpleron

| Battle Condition | Description | | --- | --- | | Rule #1 | Target Practice - All Ranged and Magic attack Monsters have the Snipe ability | | Rule #2 | Kepp Your Distance - Monsters with Melee attack may not be used in battles | | Mana Cap | 28 | | Allowed Splinter | Fire, Earth, Life, Water, Death, and Dragon |

With the melee monsters being restricted in this match, most probably we will have a Magic Monsters at the front while having a few Ranged Monsters at the back. And with all monsters having the Snipe ability, you have to protect the monsters place at the 2nd position because most likely all attacks will be directed to it.

Given this prediction, I opted to use Thaddius Brood to go for the defensive strategy. I deployed Riftwing as my main tank having the Scavenger ability to sustain its health. And since we know that only the first monster will attack it, what we need to protect is the 2nd position monster. With that in mind, I placed Djinn Muriat with Void Armor ability and Scavo Hireling to repair its Armor. Void Armor absorb both Magic and Ranged damage, perfect for countering Snipe ability.

| | Thaddius Brood reduces the magic damage and health of all opponent monsters. It is good for countering magic line-up and the minus 1 health is very crucial as well. | | --- | --- | | | Riftwing has a high high HP but has no attack. It has 3 abilities at level 5 although for this match, only the Scavenger will be helpful because of Magic attack will not missed. | | | Djinn Muirat is a magic monster with high HP and Void Armor ability. Placing it on the 2nd position to absorb the damage from Snipe attacks both from Magic or Ranged is our main strategy. The Void Armor will absorb both attacks, regardless if its magic attack. What we need now is to sustain the Armor and Health of this Monster while dealing damage to our enemy monsters. | | | Scavo Hireling is our main support for this match as it is responsible for repairing the Armor of Djinn Muirat. | | | Witch of Warwick was our chosen Gladius card as it has a magic attack which is good for this round. | | | Spirit Hoarder is a magic attack monster with Triage ability. It is our 2nd support for this round with the task of healing Djinn Muirat incase Scavo Hireling unable to sustaing the armor of Djinn Muirat thru repairs. |

  1. Match against PORQUITO https://splinterlands.com?p=battle&id=sm_qplTpxBG875uh7liWXxP&ref=jpleron

| Battle Condition | Description | | --- | --- | | Rule #1 | Healed Out - All Healing abilities are removed from Summoners or Monsters | | Rule #2 | Taking Sides - Neutral Monsters may not be used in this battles | | Mana Cap | 58 | | Allowed Splinter | Earth, Water, and Death |

With the high mana cap, I opted to used the Water Splinter. But it seems, both of us had the same plan. Unfortunately, my opponent has higher level cards than mine so those difference it Speed, Damage or Max Health is really crucial. I opted to use River Hellondale instead of Flying Squid for the additional melee damage from Inspire and also having the Resurrect ability.

| | Kelya Frendul provides additional speed and armor to each monsters. The additional Speed will be vital since we want to attack first than our enemy. Both of us used the same Summoner making these buffs somehow neutralized. | | --- | --- | | | Diemonshark has high armor and high HP. This is a good tank since it has high armor and HP. It also has the Trample ability which gives Diemonshark another turn when it killed the target monster on its attack. | | | Deeplurker is a melee monster with Opportunity abiloity. It's our supposed to be finisher since it will attack enemy monster with the lowest health. | | | River Hellondale has the Resurrect ability which returns monsters back to life after dying with 1 HP. | | | River Nymph has the Cleanse ability which is very helpful in this round to remove the Poison status from our main tank. | | | Edith%20Emberstar was our Gladius card for this match. Our oppenent has a gold foil level 2 Edith Emberstar as well. | | | Wave Brood has the Taunt ability to redirect all enemy monster's attack to it. |

This is the end of my post analyis. Hopefully, you got something reading this post.

This is a bit short compare with my previous brawl report few players joined this brawl, and I even had one free win due to "Opponent fled"

By the way, shoutout to @damienwolf and @jannidepp from STRAY [PH] guild. They are the local streamers I've been following since playing this game. Although I haven't won any prize yet from @damienwolf streams, maybe he will send some cards after noticing this one. Hey Guys, its time to give the results of our latest guild brawl this March 26.

This was the 2nd time playing at Fray 10 (Chaos Legion only with Silver league restriction) and had the same result as the last time (5 wins and 1 lost). Well, hopefully I get the same result in the next brawl or better yet, be undefeated.

If you want to check my previous post about why you need to join guild brawls, check this link

BRAWL RESULT

Our streak of 2nd place ended in this brawl. Although we only finished at the 3rd place, our Average Brawl Rank is still at #2. All of us are still improving with more Gladius cards being available in our arsenal. Also our store level will be upgraded soon to level 3. Woohoo!!! More Merits means more Gladius pack.

For this brawl, our guild received 19 Crowns as rewards while each of the participating member in our guild received 877 Merits.

I currently had 1969 Merits, 31 merits short for new Gladius pack. My excitement turn to bitterness after knowing I am short of merits to open new pack :(

Post Match Analysis

This was my 2nd time playing in Fray10 and both resulted to a 5 win & 1 loss. Seems I will be staying longer in this Fray as aside from having a good result, it is way cheaper compare when playing against Fray8 with Silver league and no restriction in card releases. By the way, I'm creating my Silver Deck with Chaos Legion as well so for me, this is really a great fit.

Hey Guys, its time to give the results of our guild brawl last Feb. 04, 2022. We are still short of merits to buy Gladius case so we will have it on the suceeding post. If you want to check my previous post about guild brawls, check this link

Our guild manage to finished 4th in this brawl receiving 12 crowns and 554 merits. We are still short of buying one Gladius case so we will reserve the opening in the next post (2000 merits = 1 Gladius case)

On average, we finish either 3rd or 4th spot. Before this brawl, we were place 3rd and now 4th again. This brawl was a bit different compare to the last time as we had too many battles in each frays, around 8~9 each fray. This was also the reason why rewards were a bit high even though we are only at 4th place.

We are still a long way in achieving a level 3 Guild Store but we are already planning to have some new guild rules and rewards that may help to increase donations and encourage more players to join some empty frays like gold frays.

So hopefully, we'll have improvement in the next brawl.

My Battles I was able to get a 6 wins and 3 loses, with no free wins (opponent fleeing). And ranked 5th on our guild in terms of most wins.

Gladius cards use in this brawl I'll be showing the Gladius cards that I used (or my opponent used) and analyze how we can utilize it better a:)

Edith Emberstar is the one I used in the 1st game which deals the biggest damage to my opponent. With high mana cap, it is best to use when you have a lot of spare mana. I deployed Kraken with two Tank Healers to sustain the damage from my opponent's monster while Edith Emberstar is dealing the heavy blow.

Witch of Warwick is the one I used for my 2nd game, unfortunately we lost. Witch of Warwick is similar to the new Magic monster in Death from Chaos Legion with Life Leech ability. With the Bloodlust ability, it gets stronger every time it kills, and it may even reach a point in which Life Leech will make it sustain the attacks from enemy. Combined this with Byzantine Kitty, it can be a replacement for Ancient Lich in low mana battle.

Alfredo is good for low mana cap battle as well. On its max level, it can have True Strike ability which is good for high speed and abilities related to evading attacks. This was used by my opponent in my 3rd match. I lost not because of Alfredo but because of the sustain of Sea Monster.

Bertrol Gobson is also a good for low mana battles. With Opportunity ability paired with Bloodlust, it can easily stacks up its stats. I used it on my 3rd match. Though Bertrol Gobson able to stack Bloodlust twice, it was not enough to stop Sea Monster's attack and heal.

Ajax Lightfoot was the one I used in my 4th match. The ruleset allows ranged attack to be used in front and since melee attack monster is not allowed, it's a good scenario to use it combined with General Sloan as summoner.

Palidon Rakk was the one I used in my 7th and 8th match. Palidon Rakk is best if you need high HP tank.

There was 3 matches wherein I did not deployed a Gladius cards. This is okay since it is not always a good strategy to force Gladius card in your line-up. Your goal is to win the match, with or without a Gladius card.

Introduction Hey guys, have you ever wondered what will happen when you combine Taunt, Forcefield and sustain it with a Triple Healling abilities? Well, I got it experimented using Mycelic Slipspawn as the Tank which have the Taunt and Forcefield at its level 4. And the triple Tank Heal from Byzantine Kitty, Psychic Goblin and Wood Nymph. Check the battle replay!

Before we start, let's have a recall first of what these abilities and ruleset means.

  • Taunt : All enemy monsters target this monster if they are able to. This will override the targeting system of enemy monster and will focus attack on a monster with Taunt ability (if they are able to)
  • Forcefield : This monster takes only 1 damage from attacks with 5+ power. Any attacks with power equal or greater to 5 will be reduced to 1. This is a good counter for high damage monsters.
  • Tank Heal : Restore a portion of the first position's health each round. The restored HP is equivalent to 1/3 of the max HP (rounded down), or minimum of 2 HP heal.

Using Mycelic Slipspawn as Tank

  • Mycelic Splipspawn is one of the newest addition from the Chaos Legions with Taunt ability. It has a Magic damage so you can place it at any position and still be able to attack enemies. With Forcefield ability which can be unlock at level 4, Mycelic Slipspawn is one of the go to Tank for Earth Splinter.

Using Triple Heal Combo Earth Splinters have a lot of Tank Healers we can use.

  • Wood Nymph - one of the earliest support monsters with low mana cap that have magic damage and Tank Heal ability at its initial level
  • Goblin Psychic - from the Chaos Legion as well with high magic damage and Tank Heal ability at its initial level as well. It also has Affliction which is a good counter for Healing abilities.
  • Khmer Princess - one of the few monsters with 2 Healing abilities. Tank Heal for healing the frontline monster. And Triage which heals any of the backline monsters.4

Summoner with Tank Heal Combo: * Byzantine Kitty is the only Summoner as of the moment with Tank Healing ability.

One of the advantage of having the Tank Heal ability from the Summoner is that it can provide continuous heal without worrying that it can be taken down. Unlike with Wood Nymph or Khmer Princess, enemy can use strategies to take down backline supports to easily remove the healing capabilities.

Summary: Forcefield ensures that the highest damage the enemy can deal is 4. Combined with triple heal and high HP, you can easily sustain the damage from enemy attacks even though it is focused on only one monster using the Taunt ability.

Hey guys, this is my entry to the Splinterlands weekly challenge featuring the Dragons. We'll have some lore introduction, explanation of its abilities, comparing it with some other monsters, my personal opinion with it, and the sample battle I have with one of my favorite Dragon from the Chaos Legions, the DESERT DRAGON!!! Enjoy reading!

Monster Introduction LORE

The Desert Dragon is most commonly found east of the Jade Thickett, on the sandy plains of the Ixzoc. Its long neck is banded red and black, with savage horns that sprout from its head and vicious fangs more wicked than scimitars that line its jaws. Quite often assumed as a lumbering, flightless giant with wings that are tattered and torn, many make the mistake that it cannot move quickly and will sometimes stray too close. But any that have seen it hunt the plain grazers will know, not only can the beast move with considerable speed, the terrifying charge will often leave its target rooted to the spot with terror, unable to flee its impending doom. The Desert Dragon is so big that on rare occasions its attack has been mistaken for seismic activity and minor earthquakes.

STATS & ABILITIES

Shadow Snitch Abilities:

| Ability | Description, Usage and Counters | | --- | --- | | Trample | When a monster with Trample hits and kills its target, it will perform another attack on the next Monster on the enemy team. With the Stampede rule, Trample ability can be triggered continuously as long as the target monster dies. | | Piercing | If Melee and Ranged attack damage is in excess of the target's armor, the remainder will damage the target's health. Desert Dragon has a high melee damage, but without piercing, even 1 armor can block this damage. With piercing, you don't have to worry about the target's armor as it will pierce through it. This will help you to attack continuous. | | Retaliate | When hit with a melee attack, monsters with Retaliate has a chance of attacking their attacker. This is a good counter for melee opponents. | | Giant Killer | Does double damage against targets that cost 10 or more mana. Dragon splinter and some legendary monsters have high mana cap requirement. This ability will greatly help kill monsters that cost 10 or more mana. At level 4, Desert Dragon has 6 melee damage and will have the chance to reach 12 if target monster has 10 or more mana requirement. |

COMPARISON Among the new Dragons from the Chaos Legion, Desert Dragon is unique between the three. Both Void Dragon and Chaos Dragon have magic attack and a Flying ability at their initial level, while Desert Dragon has melee attack and doesn't have the Flying ability.

PERSONAL OPINION Desert Dragon is one of my favorite monster from the Dragon Splinter. With the right combination of Trample, Pierce & Retaliate, it's definitely a nice to have whenever the rules allows it. Stampede and Opportunity are hust one of those ruleset that you want to include this monster to dominate the match.

FEATURED BATTLE Link to my battle : hhttps://splinterlands.com?p=battle&id=sl_109346cbe42f426a1a5f1c2068ef114a&ref=jpleron

  • LINE-UP

| Summoner | BRIGHTON BLOOM | Provides Flying ability to allied monsters. Since we had a Silence Summoner as ruleset, I opted for the a level 4 Dragon Summoner to utilized the levels of my monsters. | | --- | --- | --- | | 1st | Desert Dragon | Since we had a Stampede ruleset, I picked Desert Dragon with the Trample ability to maximized the effect of Stampede. | | 2nd | Naga Assasin | With the Backfire ability combined with Flying ability, I can counter a Ranged+Snipe attack monster. | | 3rd | Crustacean King | Ranged attack monster with Tank Heal ability to support Desert Dragon | | 4th | Scavo Hireling | A neutral monster with Repair ability to repair the armor of Desert Dragon | | 5th | Torrent Fiend | Placing this on the last position make it a good bait for Sneak and Opportunity attack. We can still add Furious Chicken since it is also a O mana monster, but I didn't rent one because the price is too high, almost reaching 30 DEC/day for a level 1. |

  • BATTLE SUMMARY

With a 19 mana cap, a Silenced Summoners and Stampede, I opted to use Dragon combined with Water Splinter with the intent to maximized the Stampede+Trample combination.

Since we have a low mana cap, my opponent deployed 6 low mana monster with low health. This is not ideal for a Stampede rule since monsters with Trample can wipe out your entire monsters in a single turn, as you will see in my battle.

Desert Dragon eliminated 5 monsters in a single turn with the help of Trample and Stampede ruleset. The Piercing ability helps to destroy target's armor and kill them in a single attack.
