Episode 49 is a meditation on Isaiah 58:6-12, often referred to as "God's Chosen Fast."  One of the results of the type of fast that God desires is that we would be "like a watered garden and a spring of water whose waters do not fail."  I was partial to calling this episode after that verse in particular because it's an image I often have in my mind for my sons as I pray this passage over them.

Episode 48 is a look at how 1 John 4:19, Luke 10:25-27, John 14:15, & Matthew 5:8 form the "Love Cycle."  That is, that when we receive the love of God we are compelled to love Him in return (1 John 4:19); when we love Him we obey Him (Luke 10:25-27 & John 14:15), and we obey Him with a pure heart, we see Him (Matthew 5:8).  And what do we see when we see Him?  We see how much He loves us!  And that perpetuates this blissful cycle upward for eternity.

Episode 24 is a reflection on possibly the most famous chapter of the Bible: Psalm 23.

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

Meditations is a podcast designed to help you engage the Christian scriptures in a contemplative manner by slowly and imaginatively praying through and reflecting on various biblical passages. This effort is the result of thousands of hours of prayerful meditation on the Bible.  I'd like to share it with you in order to inspire your faith and deepen your worship of God.   CS Lewis says “For me, reason is the natural organ of truth; but imagination is the organ of meaning. Imagination, producing new metaphors or revivifying old, is not the cause of truth, but its condition.”  May your imagination be kindled as you listen and participate in these meditations.  God bless and enjoy!
