Lisa is currently on sabbatical and using her time to give back to her students and to Educational Passages, starting with an adventure to Nantucket, Massachusetts in February. The reason for the trip is explained, as well as other plans for relaunches from North Carolina, Ireland, and even Portugal! We also talk about ocean literacy both in and out of the classroom and ideas for ways to connect more communities this year.

This episode of the Educational Passages podcast is about the Columbia River Maritime Museum (CRMM) fleet of miniboats, which started in 2017 and has launched 36 since. Joining the episode is Nathan Sandel, who was the Education Director at the museum until 2022. Nate joins us to talk about the program he started and share some of the adventures of the miniboats so far.

This is the first episode of the Educational Passages podcast called “What is Educational Passages?”.
In this episode, Cassie is joined by Thomas to talk about the Educational Passages program. Cassie discusses the program’s mission, and how it fosters important connections that help develop a further understanding of the ocean.

- Cassie explains that along with the GPS, you can now add sensors to the boats that include temperature (water and air), and pitch sensors. An example of a miniboat currently at sea with these sensors is the Square Mile (https://educationalpassages.org/boats/squaremile/) miniboat.
