What can a few mallard ducks teach us about our relationship with Jesus Christ? When our family found some ducks that decided that they love our yard, I didn't think they would teach me anything...let alone what a powerful lesson about our Savior.

My amazing friend Dri Marshall kindly stepped in to fill a gap in my Holy Week programming that I didn't know that I needed! She teaches me so much! Wednesday of Holy Week is a day that we don't actually know a lot about. We don't have a very clear idea of how the Savior spent His time-maybe He was teaching, performing miracles, spending some time by Himself...maybe all of these above. With that in mind, Dri shares with my that things that she learned from her study of this important day and she tells me about some of the traditions from her home country of Brazil. I love her parting thoughts, that when we don't know what the Savior was doing, we can ask ourselves, What Would Jesus Do? And then we will probably have a pretty good idea of what He was doing on that day.

Elder Castleton was born with half of his heart. How's that for an opening line? He wasn't expected to survive his birth, but he did! Huge miracle! Because he wasn't able to participate in sports, he leaned into music and becamse very accomplished as a musician. With a desire to serve the Lord, he was called on a prostelyting mission to Chicago. After a very short time, it was determined that he needed to return home and shift his mission a little bit. He ended up on oxygen and now lives at home serving as a service missionary. But there's more, those musical talents that I mentioned? Yeah, Heavenly Father had plans to use those talents in an unexpected way. With permission from his mission leaders, Elder Castleton felt inspired to begin writing Christian rap and posting it on social media. Not the usual space that you would find a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, but he's doing amazing work and reaching people who may otherwise not hear the gospel of Jesus Christ. All the while inspiring people with his positivity and faith.

TJ Buxton grew up in Salt Lake City and it would seem that fitness runs through his veins. Hi dad founded Sports Mall in Salt Lake City back in the 70's, an athletic club that has everything-tennis, swimming, all the workout equipment you could want. In 1990, he started Life Centre Athletic Club and TJ has worked there ever since.

Because of the industry that he works in, TJ has a front row seat to people seizing the new year by starting a new fitness regimen and then falling off the wagon. He also has experience with this as he serves as the bishop of ward-watching people try to improve themselves and then meeting roadblocks. But there is absolutely no reason to get down on ourselves at these times! That's not what our Father in Heaven wants for us and He will always be there to give us infinite chances.

TJ has observed the biggest key to our success in achieving our goals-spiritual, physical, emotional-is consistency. And in the process, we develop, increase and strengthen our most important relationships!

Returning guest, Life Coach Leah Allred, joins me to share some amazing tips on how we can set goals that are right for us that just might turn into habits!

1) Ask yourself this question, why do you want to change something? And be clear about it!
2) Choose the right goals for you, not somebody else!
3) Get off the motivation train and embrace the roller-coaster!
4) Get comfortable with the 80/20 rule.

Longest episode title ever....but totally fitting! Scott Stone and his family have bounced all over the United States from the Pacific Northwest, to middle America, then the East Coast and now South Carolina where he and his family will stick around. He's made chips and cookies and cheesecakes and bread all professionally....well, not the baking but the operations. Now he finds himself retired with a vegetable garden and hanging out with his grandkids. But his retirement doesn't look the way he and his wife Lori had planned. But would they change any of it, absolutely not. Find out why in this weeks episode. Oh, and did I mention that he's my uncle?

I have noticed, that when my expectations are unrealistic, I end up in a rigid box that cuts me off from guidance and inspiration. Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ are ready and willing to give us the experiences that we need, but when our expectations are not where they should be, it becomes really hard for them to teach us and help us. Not to mention the disappointment that we might feel when things don't go exactly like we had hoped. But if we have realistic expectations we can align our priorities and focus on the things that matter most!

I never feel like I have enough...never enough sleep, never enough knowledge, money, food, willpower, friends, resources. I always feel like I'm lacking. And it's hard to get through life knowing that you need to do so much and be so much and get so much done when you don't have enough of what you need. But when the Savior fed the 5000, I think He taught us an important lesson about what He is able to do with limited resource, especially when we put our faith in Him.

In this episode, Megan and I talk about her calling as the Relief Society president and the very important lessons that she's learned along the way as she served the women in our ward and as she has learned to rely on  Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ and the people that she serves alongside. We also discuss some of her unique life experiences that  help her be more effective at reaching out to those who are struggling and showing empathy to all of those that she encounters. Ethan Mitchell is my 12 year old son who is also a fantastic baseball player! He has been one of my biggest cheerleaders and I am always happy when I get a chance to return to the cheering! Just in the last couple of weeks, Ethan has been faced with some hard decisions, especially hard when you are a 12 year old! I'm so proud of him for the good choices that he makes and the confidence that he has in making them.

I met him when he was the pianist in primary when I was the Primary President. Seriously, our primary was the happening place to be!! It was like having our own Billy Joel in the primary every Sunday. Well, he has now taken his creative talents into the realm of writing and it's a perfect fit. As the author of The Paradise Planet book series, he has taken world building to new levels. In this episode we talk about the inspiration behind this series, the world building aspect of writing and composing the score, and the hand the Heavenly Father and the Holy Ghost have played in making this project come to fruition. He Is Risen!

He is risen! He is risen!
Tell it our with joyful voice.
He has burst his three days prison;
Let the whole wide earth rejoice.
Death is conquered; man is free.
Christ has won the victory.

Come with high and holy hymning;
Chant our Lord's triumphant lay.
Not one darksome cloud is dimming
Yonder glorious morning ray,
Breaking o'er the purple east,
Symbol of our Easter feast.

He is risen! He is risen!
He hath opened heaven's gate.
We are free from sin's dark prison,
Risen to a holier state.
And a brighter Easter beam
On our longing eyes shall stream.

Joseph of Arimathea, Nicodemus, Mary Magdelene,  and Mary the Mother of Jesus all played important roles in the burial of Jesus.  Joseph took custody of the Savior's body and prepared it for burial in his tomb, Nicodemus brought oils and spices fit for a king and the two Mary's were keeping vigil, not wanting to be separated from the Lord.

Nah, we can get real specific with our Father in Heaven because the things that are important to us are important to Him. Sometimes Heavenly Father needs us to go through things that we don't want to in order to teach us important lessons. But what happens when we really don't want to go through that thing, we don't understand why we need that experience and we don't understand the lesson? Our job was to serve the children in our local church congregation. As I got to know her, I realized how blessed I was, and continue to be, to be able to call her my friend. I've always known her to be someone who is so loving and caring who has an amazing testimony of our Heavenly Father and our Savior Jesus Christ. On more than one occasion she's come to my house and decided to do my dishes for me because she knows that I hate doing dishes and she has a servant's heart who will help anyone while withholding judgement. What do work out journals, new years resolutions and the beatitudes have in common? The concepts of growth, progression and perfection are all intertwined, but I firmly believe that they should not come at the expense of feeling like a failure....and I don't think that's what Heavenly Father or our Savior Jesus Christ want for us. In our question to become like Him, we have to be careful to not let our feelings of failure interfere with relying on Him and being kind to ourselves.

'What can I give Him,

If I were a Shepherd

If I were a Wise Man
I would do my part,-
Yet what I can I give Him,-
Give my heart.'

There are reasons that there are two parts to this interview with Toni Ragsdale. Reason 1, people really like the shorter episodes and I know that interviews will end up being longer, so why not just give the listeners two episodes? 1 a little bit longer and 1 a little bit shorter.  Reason 2, Toni had amazing stories to share and I didn't want to cut too much content. So two episodes this week!

If you are inspired by Toni Ragsdale and the Fill the Pot ministry, I invite you to visit their website and find out how you can help! I promise you won't regret the experience!

Toni Ragsdale is one of those people that you always look forward to talking to. You know that you will come away from every conversation filled with love and light. Toni and her husband Reverend Jay Ragsdale founded the Fill the Pot Ministry in downtown Salt Lake City, Utah. Every Sunday, along with their amazing teams of volunteers, they serve over 300 hot breakfasts to the homeless community. They also provide many other services throughout the week. Toni is full of energy and love for God that is infectious. You can't help but smile when you listen to her.

A few things that we cover in the first part of the interview...Toni talks about her childhood growing up in Chicago, her love of children and her desire to be a vessel in the service of God and His kingdom, how the Fill the Pot Ministry started and her experience living in Utah and raising her family amongst the Latter-day Saints and the struggles that that dynamic brought into her life...struggles that would become great blessings.

Little Lessons can be found anywhere and everywhere....including Disney movies! I was surprised when the lyrics to a Disney song came to mind when my husband was overwhelmed with our kids acting a little crazy, and I was even more surprised that those lyrics would be so helpful in my everyday life.  Think about a time in your life when you have been overwhelmed or mildly depressed or just not knowing what to do next. How would those situations be easier if you had done 'the next right things'? And how many stories in the scriptures are based around ordinary people doing 'the next right thing'? What do you do when you find yourself in a circumstance that is not what you had planned for, through no fault of your own.
