Who hasn’t ever fantasized about being a rock star? In the season finale of Professors of Pop, Steph and Jerry are joined by Basinfest founder Philip Shearing where they discuss how ridiculous movies about musicians can be (as brilliantly satirized in Judd Apatow’s 2007 film Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story) and yet for some reason we can’t stop watching them.
In this episode, Steph and Jerry are joined by the star of the short film The Caretaker Elizabeth Laughlin. They discuss the sometimes wonderful, often infuriating world of adapting beloved books to the big or small screen. From the books that keep getting adapted every twenty years to the latest trend of adapting the buzziest novel into a buzzy limited series, listen in as they debate what works and what doesn't when stories get adapted.

On Superbowl Sunday 2022, Steph and Jerry met up with their friend and sports aficionado Joe McLean. In between consuming too many nachos and chicken wings (the real reason people watch the Superbowl right?), the trio talk about how great it is sometimes the team doesn't win the big championship ( A League of Their Own, Whip It, Cool Runnings) and debate whether the 1996 Cameron Crowe classic Jerry Maguire could really be considered a sports movie.
