Our guest is Professor Paul Rahe. Paul is an American Classicist, historian writer and professor of history at Hillsdale College, He’s taught at Yale University, Cornell University and Franklin and Marshall As well. He’s also delivered lectures for the hoover institution
His CV is filled to the prim with books on antiquity, but todays discussion was prompted by his 2016 book the Spartan Regime. The book focuses on the political ethos of Ancient Sparta. We talked about the history of the spartans, religion in Sparta snd Greece more broadly, the Persian wars, and what lessons we can draw from this particular period of antiquity.
