And we are back, and today we’re going to be talking about spiders in Tampa Bay, Tampa St, Petersburg, and specifically we’re going to be talking about spiders in Tarpon Springs. So we had a customer call the other day, and she said that there was, she lives in a triplex, and she was seeing 5678, large wolf spiders, or Huntsman spiders. And if, for you don’t know if they can get the size your hand, they could be quite large. She was seeing a ton of and so I was trying to figure out what’s causing that. And usually when you’re when you’re looking at spiders, you’re looking at something that is going to be a, what do you call it opportunistic? There got to be a food source there that’s going to be a what they’re what they’re after. And in this case, there really wasn’t anything like that. And so we were discussing it, and went back and forth for a while. And then I said, were they all the same size? He says, Yeah, they are all the exact same size different parts of house, but that was with the word if I said, Okay. So what probably happened, if you’re not aware of spiders, when they lay eggs, usually those eggs are by the many, many hundreds, if not 1000s, when they they come out, and normally they’ll have a string of silk on them, and that’ll the wind will just blow them and carry them to two different locations. Well, if they hatch an attic, they don’t really have that opportunity. And I probably would think that there’s other spiders, not the, let’s say, the mother, but the other spiders go ahead and take advantage of the situation either. Well, if they’re all the same size, then more than likely what had happened was, is that a catched and you had how many dozens, hundreds, 1000s of spiders came out, but only a handful survived, and then they got to the point where there’s no more food. I mean, they’re in a very small area, and there was just too many spiders for the amount of food that was there. So they were looking for for food, and then they came down into the home from the attic. Now that is from the best I can figure. Did it happen that way? Don’t know, but that’s, that’s my thought process on that. So if you have a really weird spider problem, give us a call. We might be able to help you solve it and or do our treatment and whatnot. Coby here with oby’s Tentless Termite and Pest Control, and we’re going to talk about the weather and Florida bugs now, right now we are when this is being recorded. We are in a very, very wet time of the year, and you never know when these are going to happen, but when they do, things get much, much more active. And I say that if it’s wet and cold, not so much. Rodents would probably go ahead and move a little bit more under those conditions, but roaches and ants, not so much. They are getting slowed down because of the the cold. Anyway, it’s cold enough, it’ll freeze them in the kill them. But most of the time they are in Florida that it never gets cold enough for them to go ahead and actually do that. So in the summertime, though, if you think about it, they are there, they don’t have blood, so it’s, it’s, what do you call it? The inner fluids will go ahead and warm up, and as they warm up, they get much more active and prolific, as far as breeding and whatnot. They also have most of the insects that are going to swarm via reproduction, mostly ants, they’re going to swarm during this time period, great period, time periods from April to October for Florida residents in the Tampa Bay Clearwater St Pete area. So let’s see probably 75% of our calls, and one of the reasons that is, is because you have literally gone ahead and flushed them out of their flush them out of their their homes, and so now they’re moving, and they need to relocate. And usually like to relocate your house. So that’s that’s one of the big things. The other thing that can happen is, is that they will go in when there’s not a lot of water we have. The dry periods, they always go in a dormant state, as far as they know there’s not so the more they move, the more likelihood they’re going to dehydrate and and or die dry wood hermits are great example of that. All they need is a dry piece of wood to survive, and so they don’t need any water, per se, to do that. However, if they have a leak in an area, they that they speed up the process. They know that that when they’re very methodical with their movements, because they like so they dehydrate and die. But if they have the extra water, speeds them up a little bit. And actually, that’s one of the the parts with our treatments that we injected to the attic. Go in the attic and spread out the bare wood injected into the walls. It spikes when you use 20, 3040, gallons of product. It spikes into the into their homes, and that gets them more active, and then more active gets them into products we use. The same thing is basically true with the roaches and ants. When we treat we look to the areas that are going to be the most likely harbor areas, knowing that when it rains, they’re going to come out of there, so which you’re on top of, and then closer to the home, the eaves, they’d love to go up in your attic, around the windows, doors, those are all places they like to get in as well. So we try to hit all those areas where they know it’s going to be problem. But the weather, summer heat, as well as rain causes things to move and or become much, much more active. Today, we’ve been talking about something that that normally, if you watch this channel, listen to us long enough, you know that I’m talking about questions that we get from customers and people in the Tampa Bay area, Clearwater, St, Peter, all those areas. And today it’s this going to be a little bit more about something that’s been that’s bothered me a little bit, but yet, it’s a badge of pride at the same time. And that’s when is a one star review a good thing for a pest control company. The first one is a never, you never want a one star review. And the correct you don’t want to have poor service that causes somebody to go ahead and say they didn’t do what they said they’re going to do, or whatever the case may be like that. However, however, if you go to somebody’s home and you explain the details of what you do, and you know that you’ve been doing this for over 20 years, and they give you a one star review because you’re expensive. Like, is that? Is that even a thing? You have hundreds of companies out there, you can go with anybody, but you give somebody a one story review because they’re expensive. Now, the first time it happened, how I was bothered terribly, what I can do, it’s like he’s a one star review like that. And then I start thinking about it, that’s a badge of honor. I mean, you’re expensive. Okay, yeah, I am why? Because we give the best service out there. I mean, you can drive any car you want, but, but we’re not a Kia. We’re we’re not, I mean, granted, they are getting a little better, and they look pretty cool too on occasion. But we’re not a cheap car or used car. We’re that, we’re that upper echelon company with what we do, and we have worked very, very three, very hard to go ahead and to get there when you literally devote 13 years of your life being on every single job, making the equipment, coming up with the formulas to go ahead and make sure what happens seeing, going back when somebody has a problem, figuring out why they have the problem, and You go on and on, and you just dedicate everything to that. And then you finally feel comfortable enough to say, Okay, now we’ve got this down. And then you train somebody, and you and you train somebody, they do 400 jobs before you let them go out on their own. There’s not another company that I’m aware of in the country that does that. So So yeah, we are more expensive, or we used to be more expensive. This year has been a crazy year where we’re getting prices all over the place. Some are just way higher than, than, than anything that we’re charging. But the reason we’re expensive is because our product well, first of all, just complain to you with all the training and what it took to develop the program, but also the product we use. If you do a fumigation on a home, or tenting on a home, and they take the 10 off, and you can go back in, well, so can the termites. There is no residual for that product, that part, that service, lasts you one minute for the time that everything was air. Dot, you can go back in, actually less time than that. Ours last for up to 50 years. We’re using products that two products that are transfer, products that will has been tested. Basically put a board in the woods and put product around it, see how long a glass and 95% effective over 15 years. Then you’re taking a liquid borate, putting it on the wood. Nothing’s known to take it out of the woods. So it’s basically a permanent treatment. So you have something that’s gonna last for 3040, 50 years versus five seconds. Yeah, that’s gonna be a little more special. So then that’s the only time I can think of. And there are other companies that have running across that same thing. They were too expensive for them. Well, okay, no, I don’t apologize. No, no, I really don’t. We’re expensive. We’re proud of that. It’s a badge of honor, and if I get a one star review because I’m expensive, I’m okay with that. Hi there, Coby with Coby’s Tentless Termite and Pest Control Tampa Bay, self proclaimed guru of bugs, been doing this for about 38 years now, and most of it has been in the Tampa Bay area, specializing, of course, Temple strip mates, one of the questions we get a lot, and I you have already one video that’s going to be very similar to this, but that is in the Tampa Bay area. How much does it cost to treat a home for mice? And as I mentioned, there’s two different main mainly, two different types of termites. You have the ground termites, which will cost you measure around the this is the home, and you multiply it. And for us, it’s about 10 to $12 and we use a number of different things. We do a liquid application with two different liquids, and then we put monitoring stations down, and if we have a hit or activity, then we put boost up that area as well as put bait down. So we use up to three different products to go ahead and take care of those. And like I said, it’s 10, $12 a linear foot as far as a treatment for the dry wood termites. The dry wood termites, we go by basically the volume of the home, not the distance around. And we found that if we do the square footage under roof, not heating cold under roof, we multiply anywhere between 250, to 350, a linear square foot, we get our prices, and that’s how we go about that, the the and those are the the, the the price of of doing that, but the cost of checking a home, you have the price, okay, and then you have the other expenses that are go on with this. And the other expenses being removing your food and medicine. You have to leave your home for three days, your pets, your family, the inconvenience, if you have to stay with your mother in law, but the Moreover, though, the possibility that one, they didn’t get them all, which we’ve seen that a lot lately, and I’m not sure why, because it used to be nobody would ever get a fumigation and then have them that year, the year, that year, maybe. But even that’s a little odd. So it’d be the next year. So we’re seeing that a little bit more frequently. And I don’t know why that is. I know the companies are doing the the treatments correctly, but I don’t know why we’re seeing more activity. The other thoughts are the like I said, the damage that they can do to the roof or the gutters or the shrubs, definitely, if they’re close to the house, if you have a bird cage, you have to have a company come out and remove the screen, put the screen back. So there’s just a lot of other costs that are involved, plus the time that it takes for the preparation. So you price versus cost is, what the what the thing is the analysis there, but we’ve seen some really crazy swings in the price of a fumigation. This year. We have seen one particular home, I think our price, when it was 3500 ish in around that between three or $4,000 and we saw as little as $2,100 to 6000 for the exact same treatment. And I said the exact same because they have the same amount of gas they have to have. So there’s not a, there’s not a there’s not a variable there, there’s not one company does a lot better job the other because they more experienced. No, they go by the cubic footage. They put the gas in according to this, then they monitor it. They do what they’re supposed to do. They get in out and take the tent off. So so it is the same service. Whereas if you have a tetanus to our company, they vary greatly, but they vary because of the lack of experience. Nothing wrong with these companies. They just have not done 1000s of these treatments, and so they are unfamiliar with what’s going to happen with the initial treatment, what to what the customer explained properly, customers is going to see and how long they’re going to see these problems for, and how that how they they’re solved, as well as I haven’t run into any company yet with a tentless treatment that has a lifetime guarantee, except for for us. And the reason I think that’s important for you is because most of these companies will go ahead and after, say, 2345, years. Say no time to go get your house to it. That’s not that’s how you do that. You took somebody’s money to begin with. You did a job for them. You honor it. You keep on after until they’re gone. Anyhow, that’s a different thing in effect. Actually, I’ll go ahead and do a. Uh, another video on that as well. But the cost versus prices is, whenever somebody asks me how much the cost of fumigate at home, it varies greatly and and the price versus the cost is completely different as far as how much more it’s going to cost you to go ahead and and above and beyond the price. We’re back talking today about how many termite colonies Can you have in one home? Well, if you’re talking about subterranean termites there’s the thought that there’s probably one very large colony and there could be several 100,000 to several million termites in a subterranean termite colony under the house. And the good thing about that is, honey, the good thing about that is, is that you are when you treat the home, that one colony could, because they’re communicating back and forth, when they get into the products that we put down for for to control the termites, it spreads to the entire colony, not surmounted, gone. With dry wood termites, each place that you see, a pile is a high probability, it’s a completely separate colony, they’re not attached. So you could have one in the winter, so you can have an indoor, you can have cabinets, you know, multiple in the attics, all these places, you can have them and they would be completely separate colonies. And why this is important is that as the the termite colony gets older, usually around five years, it will, it will have enough product in the economy that it can sustain swarming elites reproductive termites leaving the colony and forming their own new colony. So at the five year mark, you have say 500, termites, at the six year mark starts to snowball, you get in this one colony over here. Now you go ahead and have another colony, it takes five years to get going. The next and there can be multiple times that you can literally having a massive snowball effect, and have dozens, if not hundreds of colonies. And if it goes on check, 1000s of colonies that are completely separate that are not attached to one another. And so if you’re treating a spot, because then you think that’s where they’re at, that’s not going to get the job done, you have to treat the whole house. And our particular type of treatment we do we treat the house, attic crawlspace as wall voids, doors, windows, whatever, wherever the wood is where the termite can be, we treat it and we also try to prevent them getting in any further. Even though they may get in, they’re not going to populate because they have something that they’re going to take a bite die you’re doing, at least with the products we use now. If you have a fumigation. It lasts for about five seconds. And I don’t say that facetiously in, jokingly it literally lasts for five seconds. And the reason you have to be able to go back into the home, in order to go ahead and clear it and be safe. Well should you can go back and that means there’s no insecticide or anything in the wood or in the air. And so that you’re looking at the termites come right back. And when you have termite season, we call termite season, can last two to three months. Those swarms are going to happen every day. And on the day they happen to the wind blow towards your house or to blow away from the house. So if you treat it and then the wind blows towards your house the next day, literally, you can have the infestation start all over again, that you won’t see that for five and sometimes even 10 years, depending on where in the house, the homeless that’s at, but they’re eating the entire time. So you can have many many many dozens hundreds, it just depends on how long goes untreated. Most people take care but once you start to see three five colonies they they start to see activity they take care of but some people don’t or if you have older homes with plaster walls, well they’re don’t necessarily eat to the plaster. So if you’re not seeing swarms, you’re not seeing pellets you don’t normally spend anyways. Hi, Coby here with Coby’s Termite and Pest Control here today to talk to you about what I saw on a window of of a pest control company, a fumigation company, to be more precise, and what they said on there was, beware of tentless, termite companies. Now we’re a catalyst company. Of course, I took offense to that, and the offense was that we may be aware. We guarantee our work. We go back as we have a problem, we make sure that they’re taken care of. My office staff is fantastic. My technicians are the best I know. What we’re capable of and what goes on and how it goes on and and beware. Well, then, as years go by for us doing this service, and now, it’s been over 20 years since we’ve done template services. 22 Yeah, I think 22 years now in the Tampa Bay Clearwater St Pete area and and I could agree with it more, beware of demonic companies. And the reason being is this is that, first of all, most of these folks who are doing this type of work, they don’t have a good idea about these and it’s only because of experience. I mean, it’s, it’s like a, oh, it’s like a kid driving a car for the first time. It takes a while for them to go ahead and just learn how to drive and whatnot, before they can get their permit. Then they get their permit that they get, as you know, and that’s exactly what they see here. Well, it took us 13 years every single job being on to go ahead and make the equipment and find out the best products and materials. And the biggest thing we were able to do is treat the Bellevue bit more, which was the largest occupied wooden structure in the world. And that really, really segued into how we got our experience and knowledge, whatnot. And so with us, we’ve always gone ahead and given you up to a lifetime warranty. As long as you want to keep your warranty, we’ll continue to go ahead and make sure you’re protected. And that, I don’t know of another that could be wrong. There could be some place somebody that has this, but I do not know of another tele company that that literally will go ahead and say the long as you want us, we’ll be there for you. Every other company will either have a very limited could be one year, could be three years, could be five years, but most of the time what they do is they so we’re going to treat this. We’ll do our best we can for you. This is going to help a lot. And then when we give up and say that we tried hard enough, and now you need to put a 10 over the house, well, why don’t you just do that to begin with? Don’t just take their money and then have them do the same thing. And a lot of these companies that do this, they literally offer fumigation. Now, why in the world will you go ahead and be a fumigation company and a tentless termite company? Is it going to be one or the other there? But, but the point being is this, is that do beware tentless termite companies? Because if they go ahead and when they give up, which they asked us the other day. So when do you fumigate? Never we. We don’t ever quit. We don’t never stop. We keep we take your money. We’re going. We think we can do the job right and do justice for your home and give you the best treatment on the market today for tentless termite. We don’t quit. And I don’t know of another company that does that. Yeah, maybe flip my boat a little bit, but, but it is, it is the truth, and so do be careful when you are who’s going to be treating your home. US also the cost of those things, if you have something under $2,000 I am very, very suspect on what they’re using and what their guarantee is. So, so we can’t, we can’t touch anything unless it’s a spot treatment for that kind of money. So yeah, we’re a little bit on the high side, but your home is your most valuable investment. Where would you want to put your money? Anyhow? Enough of that. But if you have questions about this or anything else, please give us a call. The the tentless termite, though, be aware of them. And we’re back talk to you today about best way to take care of fleas. Now, if you’re talking outside, one of the things you need to know is that fleas on the exterior, if they are in direct sunlight, they cannot live. So if you have nothing but a big yard full of sun, not much trees or shrubs or anything like that, you’re not going to have anywhere near the amount that you would if you had trees and shade and shrubs, fence lines and so on. I don’t know one of the reasons I would think would because we’d have more squirrels, possum, Coons, those type of things in that area. But direct sunlight is just not they need the moisture to survive, and so they’re not able to do that. So if they’re outside, don’t waste your money on very, very sunny parts of the yard. If you’re going to treat them, take the time and go ahead and and treat the shade and the areas now. So where’s the dogs run at the most? Now, that’s a very, very important or catch for that matter. Where do they run at the most? And that’s going to be another spot that you want to go ahead and do the interior is a completely different story. Now, years and years ago, the only way you could control fleece, if you did a monthly application carpets, you tilted up the furniture, you went underneath there, you sprayed the furniture, you lifted the cushions, you sprayed on the cushion. You mean, it was a very, very thorough treatment every every single month, because these were terrible each time. Then the growth regulators are, what breaks the cycle of the fleece would either can’t lay eggs or net the egg is, does hatch out, it can’t ever become a sexually mature adult. And so that would be the next thing that you would go ahead and do. And then, lo and behold, the guess it’s pet pharmaceuticals, for lack of a better term, came into play. And when they did, we had advantage. Oh my gosh, it was a wonderful thing. You could put that on a cat, and within the next morning, you see dead fleas all around the location. And those and then went from from advantage to frontline, Vantage, being medical opioid, Frontline, being frippin ill. And those work for a solid 10 years, and they were great. Well, they seem to get used to it, so they went on. So then they went to the next thing would be the pill, which is what most dogs are taking. I’m not sure what they’re doing for cats right now, but for dogs, that’s the pill does a wonderful job as far as killing and I think it’s got heart worm possibilities as well. Anyhow, that being said, those are the things that I’ve retina, first and foremost, before we put in the insecticide in the home. After that, though, if you need to go ahead and do something, we see a lot less carpet, a lot more carbon, thorns, tile, whatever it is. And so spraying those with a wet liquid isn’t necessarily less than you do. So there are a number of different products on the market. What’s the Ultra? PT? Ultra? Forget now. Or ultra side, the names change and everything. But pre core 2000 was one of them, current, one that I hear a lot of, and if you use quite a bit, is night guard plus. And all these parts are in an aerosol can, and they dry exceptionally fast. That’s important. We want to go ahead and not do damage to your your furniture, your to your your floors, not have to worry about that, but it also is a very effective thing to do. So more and more I’m recommending along those lines. Now we certainly can do those treatments. And if you’re having a terrible problem, we we can help you but a thorough vacuuming, mopping the floor, so with rubbing alcohol, if it is a a hybrid floor, or something like that, and or the insecticide, growth regulator mix in the aerosol cancer, those are probably going to be your biggest thing. We that’s a lot how we would treat now, if that’s not working, then they’re jumping on you. Then, then we absolutely can help but, but these are some things you can do in your own and places you can treat different things you can use. Coby here with Coby’s Tentless Termite and Pest Control, and I love to go on my search engine for my my AdWords, and seeing the different what search terms people typed in. And one of them is, is it alternatives for tenting, for toys? And the good news is there is, well, obviously, with our name being Coby’s Tentless Termite and Pest Control, l, there would be your alternative. And so what the biggest difference is is, well, actually, there’s several one you’re not having to leave your home, bag up your medicine, take your pets, and you’ve out for so many days, worry about damage to your home and other things. So that’s one of the things you don’t have to do. But the other big one is longevity. Fumigations are designed to kill immediately and then disappear. There’s absolutely no residual to a product. So people will go ahead termite companies will go ahead and gear in here for four or five years, knowing that those termites are coming back, either the year that they treated the home or the next year, because those it the area is for festival termites. The trees are the other homes in the areas are wood piles, fences, shrubs, all that stuff has drive with termites, and they’re going to swarm over and over and over again and get right back into your home. They give you a four or five year warranty, because you’re not likely to see a swarm for at least five years, because that’s how long it takes for two termites, 251, termites to come together. And once they’ve done that, then they the colony Bill big enough before it could make it fly out that takes five years. So they’re getting a five year warranty on something that you’re not going to see for five years anyway. So that’s a bone of contention with me, but, but it’s the way they run their business, and they did kill your termites so that they’ve done what they said they were going to do. That being said, the alternatives to that is to go ahead and treat as much bare wood in the home as you can now. You go about doing that by treating the attic, treating if you have crawl space crawling underneath, treating all the bare wood that’s underneath the floor and whatnot. If you have wooden frame in the walls, you need to treat in between each one of those studs. And if you have an older home where you have wood laugh that goes across and then plaster on that, you have to make sure every board is treated. And there’s special ways to go ahead and do that. So there is alternatives. We they really need to know what they’re doing with that, because it would be pretty easy to miss one of those spots and for them to be a big problem. Also the combination of or the products that they use. For example, if you use a powdered borate the one that most people are familiar with is Tim bore. It does a fantastic job. If you’re treating a brand new structure that has just been built, it does a terrible job if you have an older home with existing infestation. And the reason for that is is that when you go ahead and put down a powdered product, it’s like dredging a piece of chicken and flour before you fry it, you put it in there and you fry, it gives you a great crust, but it doesn’t penetrate into the wood. Liquid borates, on the other hand, do, and so that’s why it’s it’s so important to go ahead and use the right products. There’s a lot of people that are using what they think will be a very good job for a existing infestation, and unfortunately, this doesn’t work real well, and a lot of them give up and say, you have to get fumigation. So there absolutely is alternatives. So today it’s getting questions about carpenter ants. And this is the time here we’ll see a lot of swarming insects, termites, ants, little ants, big ants, and then these really big ones, up to a quarter of an inch, and they will be around lights or your pool area and or if you are out and about in the evening time you will see them in the street lights sworn toward street lights. And so I can remember one one time I was going into a grocery store here in Clearwater, and it was probably 830 at night, and every time the automatic doors have opened, it’s big thing of termites will come down and go right into the into the swirling, of course, everybody’s in the stores running in there. I thought it was kind of comical, but, but the only thing you could do is keep the door closed, because as soon as that door opened, there was just so many 1000s upon 1000s swarming in that parking lot that any any avenue for them to get in they were going to get in. The good news about carpenter ants is, there is such a thing, is that they do not eat wood. Let me say that again, carpenter ants do not eat wood. Now, it took me over 10 years before I found that out, because every place I read they didn’t say they ate wood, but they didn’t say they didn’t eat wood as well. And then all of my carpenter customers would say, or a lot of my customers that were from north to say, Oh yeah, we had a problem these car prints. They ate our back porch off. And I was hearing things like that over and over and over and over again. And then I happened to go this one seminar, I was like the ant expert of the world that was talking about different things. And after seminar, I stopped him. Said, Hey, look, are there ants that could eat wood, that can do damage to wood? He goes. So here’s the deal. In North America, there is no ant that can actually eat wood. What they can do if you and I can take our hand and crumble it because it is rotten, or they wouldn’t eat funguses in there, if they can do that, then what you wind up with is a soft, spongy thing, and they they excavate that, and they’ll live inside of that. Now they can, they can live inside there. But they also like electronics. I found them in the food processor. I have found them in hot water heaters. I’ve seen them pool pumps and or air conditioners outside. Them nest into the electronics and short, because we’re so many, they shorted out the the component, so they can live in a lot of different things under the insulation. So when I first got into this business, this was, this was almost 40 years ago, the only you could find or do anything with these, these find or do anything with the ants, you’d have to track them down. And so you’re looking for one ant and following the thing from point A to point B, hoping that it would go someplace. And it took hours and hours and hours for you to do this. And it was not uncommon to have 1015, colonies, and you’d go back to a home. I had one house that had 27 separate colonies, and it took me over 20 visits before we finally got rid of them, on how we found them and where they were at. And then came transfer products, products to where, if you put it down, term like that, into probably the A got into it, and then it transferred back to colony and killed the colony. And that was just a godsend for all of us who grew up in this business, where you had to track everything down, works so effectively, and still does today. And usually, once you apply pesticide, these pesticides down for ants, and they work for just about any ant, but, but put them down. Usually it’s a three to seven day process, and once that process is done, almost always they’re gone. I’d say less than 5% of time. Then you go back a second time for that. And if I do, there’s usually some place where I didn’t even come close to going ahead and treating the area. So So covid, the good news is they don’t eat with the bad news is that if they can be in your home infested, but it is something we can help you with. Coby with Coby’s Tentless Termite and Pest Control here today, talking about questions, we’ve been getting a lot of, what does the termite look like? And if you’re dealing with subtracting termites in the springtime in Florida, that Tampa Bay, St Pete Clearwater area, that is probably middle of January to April, 15, middle of April. And if you see a thing, then the biggest thing you’re going to notice is black flying ants and and they’re usually from dozens to 1000s or 10s of 1000s, and that, that’s the that’s a starting point there. There’s much more details on it and what you want to do, but that’s what you’re going to see. You also, if you’re digging around in a yard, you’re going to see these little things that look like maggots crawling around. Those are going to be the working cast of the termites. Could be some soldiers in there too, but those are going to work in cast. Whereas this, the flying ones are the reproductive so someone’s going to start new colonies and and go eat somebody else’s home. But if you’re doing in the, I’d say Mother’s Day, to say August 15, in and around those time periods, what you’re looking at is you’re going to see something that’s going to a light inside at and it’s going to be the evening time, 10 to 10 to 210. O’clock in one till two o’clock in the afternoon is the normal time for the for the ground terminal swan. Evening time attracted going to a light would be that now the little things flying around, and those look at flying ants as well. They’re not black in most cases, though they use a brown or a brownish color. And so that’s what you would you would see around those time time period. And if you don’t see dinner that time period, the next day, what you would see is these little wispy wings. And you walk by and you put a clean unit, almost anything, and these things kind of flutter up there. So what the exact they’re on windowsills, a lot of times around windows. Why? Because that’s the easiest access point for them. And they’re also attracted to a light. So if there’s a light shining through from the outside, over a light on any place, you can see them around those areas. So that’s the basics of that. Now, with, if you broke open any piece of wood, just as if you were working in the yard with a submarine termite, you would see these things that look like, like maggots crawling around, and so if you saw anything like that. Now, the other thing you might see, and it’s not for the subgrant termites, you would see a tube of mud, not much bigger than your pinky. Sometimes they get real big, but that’s where they start off at. And so you would see this little tube of mud. And if you saw this little tube of mud, then it would go ahead and be an indication that you were having a subtree termite infestation. Break that little piece of mud open and you would likely see crawling white termites in there on the dry wood termite side. The easiest way to tell is if you see this recurring sawdust. And I say sawdust, but it’s probably more like a coffee ground or pencil shavings. Lot of times, pencil shavings could be identified, also as a carpenter ant, but if the any, any thing like that, but, but any color. It could be a salt, pepper, it could be a blonde, it could be a purple, I mean red, it could be any color, but you clean it up and it comes back, clean it up, comes back. That would be an indication also, of too much, not so much, what they look like, but what their evidence looks like. And those would be your things. Now, if you have blisters or bubble in the paint, put your finger on it. Today we’re going to talk about, can you or how do you get rid of termites permanently? And so can you get rid of termites? The answer’s yes. Can you get rid of them permanently? The answer is no. And I say that because when you have troubled termites, for example, each colony is completely separate from the other subterranean termites, you have very large values. Private termites, you have relatively small colleagues and the parents have to separate from my colleagues. And they are all separate. So if you kill one colony, the rest are struggling to go ahead and come. So to properly get rid of them, you say, Okay, you kill them all, and they never come back again. But whether it’s an ant, whether it’s a roach, whether it’s coming back, okay, there’s, there’s a reason they called a pest control. And that was because they knew that it’s going to control the situation for a temporary period of time, but it will not permanently get rid of them. And so can you get rid of the yes, you can treat your home. And that’s going to get rid of the existing colonies or most of the existing colonies in those areas. But you can prevent new colonies from eating your home that you can do, they can’t get rid, apparently, but you can. And that was a tongue twister service. When I say templates, you need to treat as much bare wood of the home as you can in that situation. Attic, wall voids, crawl spaces, and even wood in the home. That wood, the termites can go ahead eat and once they’re treated with ball rates and different transfer products, you’re looking at longevity of 3040 50 years or more. So what that’s going to do is when they do come back, like syndicate your herbally, they’re going to come in and take a bite, they’re going to die. That is what you want to go ahead and do to protect and prevent infestations forgiving out of hand. It’s going to prevent termites are coming back. No, but it’s going to kill them once they get it. Yes. And so that’s what what you would want to do in lieu of a permanent treatment, which doesn’t exist. I hope you found this helpful. Today, you’re going to ask to answer the question, How often do you need to get a home in Florida? Often should you redo this? I read something slightly disturbing. Misinformation. It’s said on somebody’s website that tenting gives long, lasting protection, and that is just not the case. There’s no residual to to fumigation. That’s why they put the tent on, you have to leave, put the fuma, get in there. They put tear gas in there, so that nobody can come in or out and, well, not out, necessarily. But anyways, the long and short of it is, there’s no residual to that problem. So it doesn’t give any protection. So how often should you do this? Well, they’re saying five years. And they’re saying five years for a couple of reasons. One, that’s the warranty length for most customers, for usually four or five years, they’ll give you a warranty for Well, the reason they do that is because they are looking at once the termites come back, which is going to be immediately, because if you’re fumigate, if you are your home’s been fumigated, that neighborhood is going to be old enough to where you have trees, other homes, wood piles, or fences, all these things already have colonies of termites in them. And so with that, they’re going to be swarming every single year, and they’re going to be swarming multiple times, because each colony is not connected. So that swarm is going to go ahead. And this, this one was warm, this one was one of the, all these, all these different swarms will happen. So over about a 60 day period of time that neighborhood’s going to get lots and lots and lots of swarms. When they do that, does the wind blow towards your house, or does it blow away from your house? And meaning that you’re going to be reinfested rather quickly, if not on the year that you had the home fumigated, then definitely the next year. Now, once they pair off. That’s what their swarmers are. There. Those are the the reproductives, kings and queens. So once they pair off, they form a new colony. King dies, Queen starts over. Now you’re looking at between the time it happens to five years. You have about a colony of about 500 termites, a lot of bugs, and during that time period, they’re eating the entire time now, once they do that, then that colony is large enough to sustain swarms or new reproductives, and that colony will swarm out. And once that colony swarms out, you will have another colony form up. Now, if that colony is in your ease and it swarms, well, you’re not likely to see anything, but now it’ll swarm deeper into your home, deeper into the attic. Now that colony will take a five year period of time to do what it’s going to do, and you might at that point start seeing pellets, droppings and or wings, but that could be 10 years of termites eating your home. So, So how often should you do it? At at least every five years? And probably shouldn’t say more often, because if you don’t see anything, they won’t fumigate. But if the turmoils are going to continue to eat, I mean, that’s like the definition of insanity. Do the same thing over and over, expected different results. You fumigate. They eat fumigate. Nothing stopping them anyway. So how often you should do at least every five years? Or, of course, do a tentless service that is going to treat all the bare wood that’s going to protect it for 30 years? Anyhow, just wanted to answer that question. I’ve been seeing that a lot on the the searches out there, and thought I’d answer that question for you guys. So if you have any questions these or anything else, just give us a call. And we are back. Hi I’m Coby with Coby’ Tentless Termite Control. And here I’m going to answer a question that we get all the time, which is how much does it cost a year to take care of your attic? Take care of termite? Or how much does it cost for termite protection yearly? interchangeable, but basically the same thing. So this your question. And so the type of termite you has depends on how big your home is. If you watch my last video that we were talking about how much it costs to treat the homes, and now the talk about the yearly upkeep. So in our case, for us to protect the home exam users are somewhere between 295 and 495. Protecting them on a yearly basis. It just depends on how big the home is, how many termite colonies you have three termite colonies, I’d be a little cheaper, have 30 might be a little money. It really depends on that. Now, three years, it had been 10 to 15% of the original cost of treating the home. Our prices are under that. We don’t feel that we need to make that much money in our initial treatment. So we’re high. But the rich pay for anyhow. So that’s why we somewhere between $295 to $495 is an average cost that we see out there for us on protecting the home year to year. And I don’t know about other companies, how many of them give a lifetime or up to a lifetime guarantee. We did. I mean, as long as you want to keep us the warranty going we will absolutely go ahead and continue to take care of you. So anyway, that being said, I hope that answers your question. How much does it cost to have terminal protection for the year somewhere between 295 and 495, at least in the Tampa Bay area during the time of this recording, which was May of 2024. And we’re back. And today we’re talking about love bugs. Now love bugs are are seasonal, twice a year. So September, usually there and early early spring, you’ll notice them as well. And most of them you only see a couple of them in heavily populated areas. Because the cars pretty much Calabar, I mean, they’ve run into cars run into them. So they don’t really have an ability to do that. When you travel, and get on the interstates and or the more rural communities, they’re all over the place and you see just 10s and 10s of 1000s of them and they just stick to the car and it’s a mess. It’s nasty as anything. WD 40 seems to help with that. But um, but yeah, they’re not something that that we see a lot of in populated areas like like Cleveland or St. Pete Tampa. But if you get on the outskirts of Tampa, more into Polk and whatnot, books, or played city Yeah, you’ll definitely have more things going on. They don’t seem to hurt anything at all. And if you don’t know why they’re called lovebugs that’s because they always seem to be attached to one another. So there are very prolific so but that’s uh, that’s what that’s what we’re talking about today. Just love bugs and easy two seasons and, and they’re done. So. And we’re back. Today we’re gonna be talking about for formosan termite. Now for formosan termites are a type of a subterranean termite, because they come from the ground subterranean being underground. So, but the difference between them and the a normal subterranean. One of the things is what time of year that you see them, as well as the amount of damage they do. And the the normal time for subterranean is in the Tampa Bay area to to go to St. Pete all around here is normally from January 15, to say, Tax Day, April 15. And you’ll see them swarm. And you notice some of them, usually they’re relatively small, they have wings on them. And they look like wet black flying ants, that’s the best way to put this. But for most zone, they will go ahead and swarm between the end of the beginning of May end of April, all the way up through June. And they for the most part, they go hit the peak around Mother’s Day. And they have large, very large swarms, where neighborhoods will just say that they just cover the lights, you just can’t even see the lights in the neighborhood because there’s so many traumas. The reason that is because the colonies are so much larger when they go ahead and and not just when they swarm, but but the colony is much larger. And they’re also the termite is actually quite a bit bigger than a normal subterranean. So you have size of the colony size of the termites size of the swarms, but just swarms are the elites where the reproductives to go up. So when you have all that against you, when they start to eat your home, that’s when you’re in trouble, because now you have I mean, who you listen to. I’ve heard it said up to like a 60 pound animal eating of your home. Now I kind of doubt it’s that big. But I can tell you this is it because of the amount they’re seeing. And what they figured out with with the rumble, subterranean termites, these, you’re probably looking at a colony that that’s several million termites attacking your home versus several 100,000. So your it is going to be a much bigger thing. Bottom line is if you see something that’s crazy around Mother’s Day, or the swarming could be dry wood termites, we’re having a tremendous amount of those during this time, but you’re also going to be promoting termites. And so if you save a sample, we’d love to take a look at it for to tell you exactly what you’re dealing with. But um, but yeah, so that’s what you’re basically dealing with, and what we’re talking about for most of the damage and they are swarming right now. So, right now being made of 2004. Today we’re talking about dry wood, termites. And right now, in May of 2024, and it doesn’t matter what year it is, but, but it may is when we really start getting it a lot of activity, but drywood termites, mainly because that’s the they swarm, or that’s where they reproduce. And so they’re out there, trying to leave their current colonies pair up and form new colonies. So you will see them swarm in the evening times, usually, it can sometimes be at other times, but almost always, it’s after six o’clock in the evening, sometimes eight o’clock in the evening, all the way up through the early morning hours to three, four in the morning, sometimes we’ll have people tell us that they came in and saw that, but that’s what you’re looking at, as you’re looking at the timeframe we’re doing is gonna be the evening we’re going to swarm, you’re gonna go to the lights, now that light could be a light, like you have overhead, it could be a light shining through the window, like street lights outside, and they get attracted to the light. It could be something as simple as a TV screen or monitor screen when your computer or your phone this literally that’s the life they need. And or the clock on a on a stove or microwave. Those are, that is enough light for them to get hit and go to towards it attracted to that. So that would be what you’d see not now, if you see them swarm, and they live, they are a live, I should say, then then, yes, it’s kind of a no brainer, you’re gonna see him, but they dropped their wings very rapidly. So you may not see the actual termite, you may only see these little wispy wings and when it wispy as you are wiping something down or what even walking by they start floating and fluttering in the air. And so So yeah, that’s what that’s how you can notice what they are almost always going to be around late, a windowsill or something where like that that’s going to be your telltale signs. In addition to having what looks like coffee grounds, and or sawdust, small wood pellets that are for their, their droppings or after they’ve eaten the wood, you’re gonna go ahead and see them. The huge is a pile just because they keep kicking out keep up. And the reason they’re doing that is they need more room. Their colony is growing. So you’ll see the pellets and that gives you the telltale signs of that it is dry wood termites and also the location of that particular colony. In our next video, we’ll talk about how many colonies Can you have for a dry wood termites, subterranean huge one, maybe to dry was a whole different thing. And we’re back. I’m Coby with Coby’s tentless, Termite and Pest Control servicing people in the Tampa Bay area. Clearwater, say peach, Largo Newport, Ritchie, Kennedy, you get the idea. Anyhow, today we’re going to head and talk about termite prevention. can you prevent termite from coming into your home? And the answer is no. And I say that because no matter what you do, they’re going to be somehow that they’re going to get it now. What you want is for them to die before they do a lot of damage or any damage now that you can do. And so Termites can get through this mold still crack, they don’t leave barely anything. nooks and crannies that we would never imagine. The eaves the the, behind the bathtub, there’s a bat trapeze as a part that shrinks, they’ll come up there. As you know, in concrete, concrete, Florida, our Sandy’s was a cracks, and they needed a 32nd initial come up. So you’re not likely to stop them from coming in. But you can kill them almost immediately, once they do get it. And so for example, if we treat the perimeter of your home, you’re going to as they come into it, they’re going to touch it, take it back and kill the colony. That’s whether they have one colony or 10 colonies, which usually subterranean so have that many. And however long that goes for you boost it up about every for us we did about every 10 years to do a booster. But but in that time period, there’s going to be an occasional termite that will get in, but it’s going to die. And we also use not just the liquid around the outside religion monitoring station, so every three months, we come by check them out, and we see something active in there, then we step it up even further. So we don’t say you’re never gonna see a termite, but it’s gonna die pretty damn quick if it does get in there. Now with dry wood termites, it’s even more more possible to say more likely that you’re going to go ahead and have trumpeted it. Now you’re dealing with a fumigation, you’re absolutely going to have that happen. There’s no There’s no gray area. And I say there’s no gray area. To think of this. You have as the neighborhood’s get older, 3040 5060 100 years old neighborhoods, old trees of old homes, oak fences, all these different things now termites have gotten into every year they’re gonna swarm each each year that ticker colony that’s formed is getting bigger and bigger and bigger. And and that swarm season will be 60 days, it’s a little longer than that, but to say 60 days, if only half of the time in that neighborhood, the wind blowing towards your house, you have an infestation. So they’re immediately getting into that home pairing off farming colony gathering up steam in five years now that they’re in the now that US wants to build your house, there, you may not see this because it may be in the attic, maybe the walls may not be something that you notice. But the the the preventative type of treatment that you would do is also the correct type of treatment. By treating the wood with multiple products. With the adequate most of the woods that crawlspace if you have crawlspace into the wall voids with the woods, they there, they can still get it, but then they take a bite and die. And so there’s never really a way for them to go hit and get a foothold and so that’s what you’re so so so the prevent can you prevent them. You can prevent major damage from happening to your home. Can you prevent them from getting in 38 years I’d say no. You could do preventative, what do we call preventative treatments. But that’s more of a to prevent major damage will prevent every trauma from getting into the home. So at least that’s how I see it. So hope you found this helpful. If not on the year that you had to home fumigated definitely the next year. Now, once they pair off, that’s what they swarmers are there. Those are the reproductive kings in Greece. But once they pair off a former new colony, King dies Queen strikes over. Now you’re looking at between the time it happens to five years, you have about a colony of about 500 termites, a lot of bugs. And during that time period, they’re eating the entire time. Now, once they do that, then that colony is large enough to sustain swarmers or new reproductive and that colony will swarm out. And once that colony swarms out, you will have another colony form up. Now, if that colony is in your eaves, and it swarms Well, you’re not likely to see anything, but now it will swarm deeper into your home deeper into the attic. Now that colony will take a five year period of time to do what it’s going to do. And you might at that point start seeing pellets, droppings and or wings. Hi there, I’m Coby with Coby’s Tentless Termite and Pest Control here today to talk to you about signs of termites in a home. So what is it you’re going to see? Or how would you know that you have an infestation or active termites in your home? Well, you’re going to see, if we’re talking about subterranean termites around termites, what you’re looking at is, if he would see a live termite, you would see that you’re digging in the mold around your home or putting a piece of wood that’s been laying on the ground, you’re going to look like things that look like maggots, I mean, they’re going to be like white little things crawling around there. And those will be eating the wood or whatever it’s underneath. And that’s a pretty common way to find them and digging through the total motion, and or the piece of material down and lifted up. And you’ll see that now, during certain times a year. Mainly in the spring, you will see what we call swarms, or what looks like a black flying ant. And you see dozens to many 1000s Just depends on how big the colony is. And you can see this outside because he lives inside, it can be just about any place inside you just the tiniest, I mean, a 32nd of an inch crack. Basically, playing card was all that it would take to go ahead and and for them to get in. And then start eating. Now if you’re talking to dry wood termites you’re looking at, they also swarm but they would swarm later in the year, say April 15 to August 15. Give or take on the year. For example, to tweet going forwards a little bit late. We’ve been getting leading swarms until the first week in May. They’re still there, they’re just in swarm. You’re also looking at it wouldn’t look at flatlining answered look more like a brown flying ant. And they’d be attracted to light. Whereas the subterranean termites will swarm at 10 o’clock in the morning till two o’clock in the afternoon. The dry wood Termites will usually swarm and say six, eight o’clock at night on up to early morning. They also are attracted to light in the evening time. And so you’ll see easy reflector light. And or if you did not see the actual swarm, the next morning, their bodies are usually gone. They’ve tried to pair up move apparel for formal economy someplace. But you will see the little wispy wings. And that’s a really good a good, bad sign for you. But a really good sign that that that’s what that is. But the questions you have, you can take pictures, send them to us checksum tours have come out whichever we’re happy to happy to analyze those things for you and take care. Now, that’s the telltale signs that we will see. In addition to that is damage. And so if you break open, if you have a piece of woods someplace and you touch on it, and your finger goes through it, well, it’s going to be one of two things, something has eaten it, or a fungus has caused it. So it usually though, if you poke into it, it’s going to be active. And if it’s very clean galleries, when he inside of this really clean you would probably looking at a drywood termite, whereas subterranean termites they bring dirt up into their homes to maintain humidity and moisture. And so you’ll see more a little bit of dirt their bottom line is give us a call just just easier to take care of that so or send a picture, whichever I mean, we can do it either way. Anyway. And we’re back. So today we’re going to be talking about wasps, hornets, bees, Yellowjackets, mud dobbers. Anything else that you think are can sting you? Cicada killers, number of different things out there. So the big one the most aggressive of the bunch is a horrid one, it’s gonna have a hot almost looks like what you would consider a beehive. But it is a kind of a papery thin. Bottom line, if you see any, you won’t see like a half a dozen or dozen, you’ll see hundreds usually going back and forth, back and forth, back and forth. Stay clear. They are very aggressive. And if one hits you, then it seems like all the rest of them fine, you’re pretty pretty quick. And unlike bees, if they sting you wants to done they’re supposed to be able to sting multiple times, and then that can be very dangerous. So that’s that’s the the most aggressive the budget in the Bay Area puddles, county water safety, we have a we do have to African manage these. Fortunately, we don’t see them very often. And they’re not usually not very aggressive. The problem is, you don’t usually want to get close enough to find out whether or not they are African eyes or not, you don’t just because they have been known to be so aggressive to kill large animals of the horse. And so you just want to be very careful bees, I hate the idea of killing these because of the fact that we have a colony collapse in and we need them as pollinators. But I have to make sure that you’d be protected too. So that’s my other. One other point on that as I’m more concerned about protecting you than I am about the hive collapse or anything like that, I we get maybe three calls a year on something like that. So it’s one of those things, we’re you have to weigh it out to see what’s safe for you and your family. The other part about that the when you look at something along the lines of a wass look up, you’ll see something that kind of looks like a honeycomb pattern with with the number of Wasp in there. And if it goes untreated, it can get pretty big. But normally you’ll see I don’t know, six to 20 pretty simple to take care of. If you are allergic, do not try to do it yourself. But you can do something along the lines of a if you have to do something immediately rubbing alcohol but if you’ve got a pest control service, you’re gonna have a situation to where the maintenance is usually enough to kill what’s there and keep things away. My daughters are another one, just just clump of mud that you see up there. And the way you know if it’s there’s something in there or not, is if there’s a hole. And the reason that is because the mama mud never goes to the wall and picks up insects, that’s them in there. And then laser eggs or vice versa lizards, stuffs the inserts in there closes the door. And then once that happens that the when it hatches it eats its way out. And then when it flies out within that there’s no thing any longer they’re huge, but the only thing to do is take a hose and wash them down and that’s that’s about it. But those are the main ones that we have in this area when it’s bees, wasps jackets, but but the Hornets the ones that are really aggressive and the rest of them usually maintenance will will take care of without too much of a problem. And then hopefully you don’t have an issue with with with Africanized bees, or any bee problem as they are mostly beneficial. So I hope you found that helpful. Today we’re talking about flees in the warmer weather. Now in some places in the country, you will get most places in the country, you’ll get a freeze, you’ll get cold weather, and most things in a dormant state, but the in the Tampa Bay, and Ellis County, Clearwater, St. Pete area. Yeah, I didn’t know so much. We don’t get that for a number of different reasons. But one of which is we’re also as a peninsula, and it has water all the way around, it usually stays pretty warm with a golf and whatnot. But the but the main thing is, is that you’ll start to see your animals start to scratch a little bit more, you’ll see something jump on you. And then then it starts and if you if you’re very diligent with with your vets, the ones where you won’t have a problem. But if you’re like most people, myself included. Yeah, not so much. And until you seem scratching and itching, oh, gosh, we gotta go go go get the pill or we got to go get something put on them. You can go hand in and help by treating your loved one and your shrubs and whatnot. But if you’re in direct sunlight, fleets don’t really have the ability to live in direct sunlight. So if you’re on direct sunlight, not going to be too much problem as far as your animals picking up too many. On the other hand, if you’re taking me out for walks, or you have a lot of shaping your yard, you definitely can have a problem with fleas. And those areas need to be treated. In addition to you taking your vet’s advice, it used to be that we didn’t have all these wonderful medications for the animals that would suppress or control fleas. And so literally every single month you’re in that house treating for leaves treating for fleas, treating for fleas, and that was the only way you could do it. smelliest, nastiest products on the market. Now, I still have a little bit of an under 12 But they can be treated and more and more people have less carpet, hardwood floors, terrazzo tile etc. And, and now we have special treatments we can do for those as well. Today’s subject is caterpillars. Some of you may have noticed, when you start to have the leaves fall off, especially in in heavily oak wood, there’s a lot of oak trees. Clearwater, St. Pete Tampa Bay area, you have a little with oak leaves fall off and start to come back on, you’ll have the little tiny green work, they look like work, but they’re caterpillars. And they’re in the process of trying to restring their soap down. When you run into it, when you clean your face off, and it’s a mess. There’s not a lot you can do for those. And they’re going to turn into this little tiny moth, you do not do not eat a lot of tomato, and you really don’t need anything. But the caterpillars will feed off of the trees. So we’ll see a lot of those. And that’s what we’ve seen here recently, unfortunately, not a lot you can do with them. If you have a massive, massive problems, there are some ways to treat trees. But it’s usually not an issue or not a big enough issue to go ahead and warrant the expense, the ones that I am more concerned with, and these are the ones that I recommend that you be cautious of. If you see a fuzzy caterpillar. Now there could be 10 Caterpillar saddle backs, that could be a number of different ones out there. Those are all over the world. And they are extremely venomous and I can’t say it’s venomous because if you’re not gonna get bit but if you catch them those spikes on their back light you on fire unfortunately I had the one time I had that situation to where I was doing a termite treatment around the property and walk through some shrubs and my entire arm went on fire I mean instantaneous instant from one side that was burning was that and and it was a little tiny caterpillar on the bottom of the leaf and thing was no bigger than that and it was it was tiny. So I didn’t even see it. And I had never on that particular plant I’ve never seen him since then. That was the only time I’ve ever seen him in that area or on that type of plant. And in all honesty I really don’t see a lot of them. But when you do and if it’s fuzzy just stay away and then if that’s the best thing I can date man if you have multiples and we you definitely want to be aggressive in tournament if you have kids. Absolutely you want to you want to treat for these things. Like I said usually their their lifespan is pretty small and Caterpillar they’re trying to find what they need to so they can Nick cocoon and and and go on from total butterfly or a moth. So it’s not a long, long duration. Some of them are if you look at the Oleander caterpillars they make these black web Senate and if you have a large cylinder tree, you can literally have your entire underside your ease just black and with 1000s of pixels, one on top of the other on top of the other copy the other lot of people don’t put a those type of plants in that can cause those type of problems. What was it the crape myrtles the I can’t remember which one it was. But there’s there’s several plants and that oak trees are known for. You can have 10 caterpillars as well as those little little green ones. And then Bogut Vilius, that was able to book and videos have a problem as well as all the other caterpillars and just about anything. I mean, it is in their diet, they will see that if you had monarchs, they would be the milkweed is what you would do, but that the most people want them the monarchs because of the pretty the butterflies or so, but long the short being is that if it’s fuzzy, leave it alone. If you have more than one, you probably have a lot more and you want to do some type of application or treatment on your shrubs. Usually one company is what you want to do with that. And today we’re talking about brown recluse spiders, and other dangerous spiders here in the Tampa Bay St. Pete Clearwater area. So the good news is that we really don’t have a problem with or have brown recluse spiders down here. Now I know that’s that’s when someone gets bid and they look at the damage, a doctor would look at your damage on your arm. It’s an ultra sore, it’s nasty, it’s horrible. And they immediately say it is a Broncos by Erbitux. Well, fortunately for us, brown recluse can not survive in the weather temperatures, the heat we have down here in Tampa Bay, everything has always been where we have proven brown recluse and years ago, there was only 20 in the entire state that were proven, we needed a little bit to find an actual recluse of any kind, whether that was a Chilean recluse or like, these were always something that came were brought in from somebody who move into the area, no matter where you were, that could be another boat could have been one. But that’s what they that’s what it was. So it was explicit, extremely, extremely rare, but they just simply can’t survive here. So that’s the good news. The bad news is there are other spiders down here that that can hurt you now, all spiders are venomous, okay, that’s how they kill their prey. That’s what goes on. Fortunately, they are not looking for something that’s 3000 times bigger than them. And so that’s not really going to be much of an issue. The we do have black widows, very rarely do I see a black widow, it’s almost always a brown widow. And the difference is if you see an all black spider, with the hourglass on the back, that would be a black widow. If you see a mostly black spider, or a brown spider or any and the kind of broken up as far as the color goes, maybe on their legs, there could be some different colors, whatnot. But it certainly has that hourglass, that would be a brown recluse they have read that prey that arabicas in brown widow, they’ve read widows and other colors too. But the brown one is the one we see the most. Now, if you are not sure, the way you would see if you see a spiderweb. And then that spider web, you see a little ball and it spikes on it. That is a round widow. And that’s a very common way to identify that you have a broader problem in your area, unfortunately, so they’re not aggressive. So they don’t usually go after you. But if you get that it will, you’re going to have problems. The spider we most likely have down here that does damage like a brown recluse is called a yellow sack spider. And it’s just one of the ones we have commonly down here. And it’s been shown that it can definitely give you the ultra sores. So it’s pretty, pretty nasty, what it does and how long it takes to heal. And you will not be able to tell when I’ve when I’ve seen customers or people have been bitten by something. And knowing that they didn’t travel out of the state or anything like that. I knew it was not a brown recluse. But you could not tell if you look at two pictures of an ultra sore to say Oh, that is that isn’t that’s just you’re just not able to do that. And they don’t medical books don’t care about what it is gonna be the most common thing that everybody thinks there’s an issue with. So yeah, so that’s that’s what you’re dealing with. So they’re gonna have the rare recluse kid get hit by something else, but it’s usually pretty unlikely. They’re just not very aggressive and they don’t really they just don’t, don’t bother and benefit beneficials first what they take care of in catching other insects. And we’re back. So the question today is, are palmetto bugs a major concern in the Tampa Bay area? Well, if you’re afraid of them that they’re, they’re absolutely a major concern. But they they’re called Palmetto bugs. Because we have so many palm trees down here, where we had so many palm trees down here changed a little bit, there’s probably a little bit more diversity in the landscaping around homes or whatnot. But for the most part, it is definitely still a major concern or big roaches. They complain about bugs because nobody wants to say they have big roaches in their house. Company bugs still show up and the company comes down. And like I said, we’re getting a little bit less of that than we used to everybody comes us to come visit your Florida now. I don’t find it as quite as I don’t see that quite as often they still go to the beaches and whatnot. But but the bugs are still here. And so that’s that’s the major thing. The way you can people ask me all the time, should I put mulch down? Should I not put much down what’s the best pest and for the most part, once you have eliminated the source of that infestation, it takes a pretty long time for it to go ahead and regenerate. So you’re going to be fine. If you had a maintenance service every three every four months type service for pest control at the perimeter of your home, that’s going to keep everything coming in and take care of so. So yes, they are problem but yes, that can be dealt with, and we’d love to help you out. So I’m Coby, Coby’s Tentless Termite and Pest Control. And we’re back. So today we’re gonna talk about German roaches in the Tampa Bay area, they really a problem. And I’m gonna say yes, they are there, they seem to be getting worse over the years now, when I first got in the pest control business in the mid 80s, that was what we saw constantly that these were the two, two big things we saw. And the major reasons people call us out and get us to treat their homes. But recently, I’ve been seeing more of an occurrence in there and I, my thought process is as people’s trying to start to eat healthier. And or do stuff better for their family, they want to go to places that maybe don’t have the big box store thing like a fruit stand or, or the rounded corner guy who sells some stuff. And or bookstores as well, buying fruits and vegetables. That seems to be where they come in from. These are one of the few things that are coming from the inside and out. In other words, you bring them into the home. And then they go and they appear and start to form nesting colonies. Before that, it was one of those situations to where we saw them occasionally. I mean, hardly ever had I had a call for German roaches for a long period. But if your restaurants Absolutely, but if not, but that seems to be where things are brought in. And the way I learned that was my wife volunteered at the Suncoast primate sanctuary. And she would volunteer to go to the stores and fruit stands to pick up food for the animals and have suddenly started seeing occasional driven Russia to house. And as we did, it got a little worse, a little worse, a little worse. And then the van got infested was like wait a minute, wait a minute, what’s going on here. And so that’s that’s where the the source of that came from, that was the only thing different than we had done. And so that’s when I finally figured out the boxes and the fruit and whatnot. Not to say anything bad about the stores and or the the fridge stands. I mean, I shop there all the time. But it is definitely an issue with bringing in German roaches from that type of source, you may not see anything, you might just bring in an egg. And then the population will start. And of course, just like anything else, so start slow. The difference between these guys and other insects though, is they reach maturity, sexual maturity in about 45 days, what that does is that the turnaround time for them to go ahead and reproduce is much much quicker. So it only takes about four months before you have a problem. A substantial problem, then eliminating the source. Watching what you bring in on a regular basis, but eliminate the problem is you have to everything how the cabinets do all the nooks and crannies. It’s it’s a process to get them in, it’d be a process to get rid of them. But that’s that is what we’ll look at what you should be looking at with that it’s not going to be a one and done type thing. If you aren’t having a proper terminology, you’re going to have to treat a couple times more than likely. And it’ll take some time to get rid of a lot of work on your part because you’re jumping out all the other cabinets or whatnot. So anyways, I’m Coby with Coby’s Tentless Termite and Pest Control. And we’re back and today’s subject we’re going to be talking about stink bugs. Now in some parts of the country they are a massive massive nuisance getting into everything I’ve had several people that have had campers that have had them parked in Texas and come back to where they live that and had had a problem with with them infesting and by the dozens if not hundreds of them in the in the in the Tampa St. Pete Clearwater area, not too much. You’ll see occasional ones that are written those suckers kind of look like the structure Trooper bugs. They’re pretty nasty looking. But the they’re actually considered a beneficial insect in our area. Normally the outside you don’t ever see him inside, but they are extremely aggressive when it comes to things that are maybe eating your plants or it really anything they can find. If you were set them in a one, one stinkbug in a an assassin vehicle, stupid thing, but in a tank of crickets, they just they don’t really eat them. They literally just kill kill, kill, kill kill, I mean, so they’re, they’re, they’re really really good with with with the harmful patch. So they are they’re more beneficial type thing. And we don’t normally see massive infestations of them or anything like that. So we’re too much about it. If you do have a problem with them, probably have a high likelihood that they came from some other state. And that’s what you’re what you’re dealing with. At least that’s been my experience so far. Like I said, I have a couple of different places that a couple of different people that have had a problem with something that’s come from from Texas. And we’re back. I’m Coby with Coby’s Tentless Termite and Pest Control, here to talk about all things Pescador related in the Tampa Bay area, and we went rats and and I was just with my exclusion, trapping and baby exclusion being how to keep them coming in. And then once you have an issue or a trap for them, what do you use? How do you pay for them? So, when when a trafficker has, I will go ahead and do peanut butters a great one. But so it’s something like a because they’re omnivores are not always herbivores. They will also like Slim Jims. And so if I can’t get get them a one, I’ll get them on the other. One of the things I have done for years is is I will put the rat trap down with the bait that that I’ve chosen. And then I’ll put a little bit of that bait all the way around that. And that gives them a free lunch release, they think it’s a free lunch until they get to the main area seems to help a tremendous amount in smart rats that don’t get caught right away. There’s other tips and tricks to that, that you could do, but that’s one of the ones I do is I put the bait that I’m using around the trap as well as on the trap. And that a lot of times we’ll help get them as far as the baby is concerned once you’ve eliminated your source or at least temporarily eliminated source because they’re always going to have an opportunity to come back. They can’t see what the garment smell anything and the urine, the feces trails that they leave behind will definitely attract other other rats over the years. And so putting it bait stations around the outside and doing a monitoring system that is is pretty crucial. And a lot of times that were wonderful. But on occasions. I’ve seen it in in St. Pete and I’ve seen it in St. Pete Clearwater and d’alene where they have the old pipes and then those old pipes they have rusted through and the rats were coming up into the pipes through the pipes and into the homes. And so you can bet all you want but unless you can go ahead and find those spots and other tough ones. Then then you’re really looking at a getting camera out there going through the system. My seen smoke test fail. That’s supposed to be a wonderful thing. But when you have an issue like that, but but the monitoring beating unless you have an issue where you’ve done all that you seal everything up and you still have an issue, then more than likely it’s plumbing related and that’s where you go from there. And we’re back. I Coby here with Coby’s Tentless Termite and Pest Control. And today we’re talking about mice, the Tampa Bay area. Mice are not something we have a lot of, we don’t see a lot of when you go to other states, mice are huge problems. field mice, and these things are their little tiny things and actually cute unless you have an infestation, and then everything changes with that. So just like rats, mice, exclusion is going to be your most important thing. And because they’re so tiny, they can fit into just about anything, so you really have to work hard at excluding them in. And then I would definitely recommend a baiting program on a regular basis to go ahead and make sure you’re keeping the population under control. And then as far as trapping goes, what seems to work best, at least in my experience with what seems to work best is sticky boards. Where with rats, if you put something new in their environment, unless there’s a real big infestation within something new in your environment, they’re skittish. They want to they don’t want to go near that. My security is just the opposite. You put a lemon drop on a sticky board I think I’d seen 22 might get caught on a sticky board. Just because you were so curious. I wish they could say that they help their buddies but I don’t think that’s what it was so but but my son or fortunately we don’t have a huge problem with with that in this area. Although whenever you do have a rodent in the attic or wherever it is, that’s the first thing people say Oh, I have mice No ma’am. You probably have rats. But either way you definitely get something like that checked out and have somebody look at it they can identify what the problem is and what the best course of action and then go from there. Of course try the lemon drop in the and the sticky trap and that may work.

And we’re back. Coby here with Coby’s Tentless Termite and Pest Control. You can talk to you about lawn insects, or, well when they come into your house, I guess they’re no longer lawn and sector millipedes and centipedes. Now first of all, what’s the difference between a millipede the centipede, a millipede is not known to sting or bite or do anything like that. And they have two pairs of legs per body segment, a centipede has one pair of legs per body segment. And they are known to, to do just that they do sting or bite. And we can be quite an aggressive aggressive this, if you go to do something with them, I won’t say they’re going to chase you because I’ve never seen that before. But they do bite, which was let’s face it. So the what tends to happen is is that you will get changes in barometric pressure, whether it is rain, whether it’s lack of rain, a drought. And when these things happen, these things are normally long insects that feed they’re in the lawn feeding off things along. And then all of a sudden, you’ll see them something wandering the home, or you’ll see them on the front porch, you’ll see them in the pool, and different times a year you’ll this will happen. Used to be we don’t have the little tiny black millipedes and those were the only thing we ever saw. And those things were crazy. As far as when it house had an infestation, you would see 1000 A day in the pool. And a pool would pick them up. And they put them through the filter. And they break them up into small pieces and pull small pieces out there. And it was just it was a nightmare. So treating the lawn or having your lawn company trees along with insecticide, we’re gonna do that. Now normally, thereafter, turf damaging paths. And those will fall into that category. So they may not be using something that will work well with that. And when you’re dealing with the other part about that is when they get out of the lawn, they dehydrate and die. So they’re going to die no matter what. But most of the time, you don’t want to wait for something to die, you want to die quickly. And therefore you go ahead and make an application in the pool area around pets in the garden, it monitors us, depending on a pest control company, if they have a lawn license, they can treat the lawn for it. If they don’t, they have to kind of stick stay away from that. But the they are going to die by themselves. And they’re definitely in niches. And you can see Plex just 1000s of the things on that infestations. The more recent ones we’ve seen a little bit bigger. And and but you still see a couple dozen at a time. And they’re just like it’s at the end along and something happens and they get out and then you’ll see them either in your home or in the area that you’re just wait, what’s this over and over and over. And so that’s just least in the Tampa Bay area. That’s what you’re looking at with millipedes and centipedes. And little what happens to those treatments relatively simple. However, on manifestations, it may not stop them. Because like I said, you’re dealing with something that’s coming out of the lawn and with the shrubs of whatnot and it may not may not be enough to kill them, but they’re gonna die anyway. And if you’ve got an entire lawn that has something like that it can it can be frustrating. So anyhow, hope you found that helpful.

We were talking last week about a touchpad in Florida. And my my thought process was basically that if you have one, they’re bad. And so what do you do if you, if you do see ticks in your home or in your yard or on your animals? Well, first thing I would recommend is getting a good tip collar and going to Walmart is not a good tip collar. So don’t Don’t, don’t do that. You will just be chasing your tail so to speak. But the that was his first thing you want to do for the animals, you could also be the animals, calm them with a fine comb, pick anything that’s off them off, you’re gonna want to treat your yard. And that’s critical because that’s where they came from. And how they got there is probably the squirrels, the birds, the raccoons, possums, whatever. Maybe they’re not mcgillis brought them in, and then the American Dog Tick is the one we have the most common around here. And so that leaves the eggs and which can lead up to 6500 eggs in a lifetime and left employee two months. So that’s where they came from, you wouldn’t that yard, and then you’re gonna definitely want to hit with any animals laying that many eggs, you definitely want to create the inside. Now, you can always attempt this by yourself. And if you’re gonna do that on the outside Good luck. I mean, I don’t know of any products at the moment. Nothing that comes to mind is strong enough, or is a combination of what you need that I can think of that you could buy at Home Depot. On the inside, though, you can use rubbing alcohol to go ahead and knock down the population 91%, get it wherever and that will help. But on the outside, I don’t know of anything that you needed in the sector side, as well as growth regulated to break that cycle. And may have to repeat that several times. Every 1000 square feet you need so much. I mean, there’s just a lot to it. If you’re really the ultimate of yourself or good luck, and you might be able to do it, but that’s one of the ones that I usually coach people if they if they want to try to do something like this. And the other reason projects are bad. Or you want to go ahead and jump on this is because just feed them blood. And so they don’t you almost have to hit them directly. Because if you don’t, they’re just going to usually they’re they’re on something high, they’re dropping down. And that’s how they get on you. And if they’re on the animals, so once they drop off, they lay their eggs in those seat ticks and go everywhere. And it’s not uncommon when I do have it proper ticks for us to go ahead and have up in the ceiling of the cracks and crevices live just everywhere. So so this is just something that a couple of things that you may want to do flea collars, definitely hire professionals to treat the yard and then start with at least rubbing alcohol in other areas. And then from there, go from that to if that works wonderful. If not then you can professional happy. So I hope you found that helpful.

And we’re back. I am Coby, Coby’s Tentless Termite and Pest Control crocodile things bugs in the Tampa Bay area. And they do a couple of videos one or two on on different insects. But one of the questions came up that I hadn’t done this for the other insects but a mite. And that is how do you treat for ticks? What do you do. And so any place you’re seeing them at, you’re gonna want to go ahead and treat very thoroughly. So if it’s a carpeted area, and or a doesn’t matter if carpet or not, there could be any any surface on the floor. Once you the floors when she’s baseboards, you want to make sure that you get all the nooks and crannies in your furniture, your couches, your chairs, open them up, spray them, turn them over, make sure you get that all those areas in there, you’re going to want to treat. The best thing is like I said it’s it’s going to be to treat with is an insecticide label for checks as well as a growth regulator to break the cycle. So the the in the cycle. So once you have in the cycle, hopefully that will not reoccur. As far as the if using rubbing alcohol, you’re just going to frequency over and over and over and over and over again. And hopes that you find out that you’re going to need all these please find locations. I remember one time I had a it was a corner protector, it was a little L shaped little channel and it was plastic and it was put on the corner. So when you hit the corner, if you went around the corner, you didn’t damage the wall. And in there, it was like 45 ticks, that was all inside of there, they had just found a little carpet area and they were living within these this little spot. So they can hide is really really minut thing. So you have to think very, as doing a very thorough treatment is going to be very important. So and then quite possible that you may have to do multiple treatments as well. So I hope that it interests or helps if your questions that you’re thinking of bedrooms and what like that you definitely strip your beds, bathrooms, mattresses, treat all those type of things. Depending on where your animals stay, I mean if they have a favorite closet they go into you’re going to treat that you usually like to be around while you’re at so that’s probably where they’re going to be at as well. And of course they do need a blood meal so they aren’t searching for your animals or you so they’re not as likely to be in the bathroom, per se. Can it be sure but not very likely. Hi, I’m Coby with Coby’s Tentless Termite and Pest Control where as long as God keeps making them will keep killing. And I’m here to talk to you about ticks today. And the question is, are ticks bad in Florida? Well, if you have them in your yard or on your body, they’re bad. But normally, in the Tampa Bay area, where most of our services are done at, we don’t see a lot of tick activity in somebody’s yard or whatnot. However, the further you get to like preserves, or wildlife refuges, parks, those type of things. So the more squirrels you have, the more raccoons, possums, those all those animals are carrying those on there. If you get into Cunningham hogs and deer, they have tons of them on there. So if you’re in a location where that is prevalent, or you’re nearby that location, then it’s very, very likely that you’re going to see some some tick activity. So if you don’t remember a residential neighborhood, I don’t see it very often. However, if you take your dogs or your animals to say a dog park, or something like that, then you absolutely could have an issue with that. The biggest problem with Tiger Woods one of the biggest problems or ticks is that they lay in between 4000 to 6000 eggs in their lifetime and I have a ton of not real long and looking at it at like less than two months. So that’s a busy beaver right there and healing that many, many many babies out there you’re Brown and my dogs are like ticks either if you can hear in the background there so but I just wanted to touch base with you briefly about this and got a little bit bloodhounds touch points you briefed me on this and and I will go into some more detail in the next video.
