MICHAEL “MIKE” HOLMES
Michael Holmes Jr., CEO of Pen Point Designs and Images is a graphic designer at heart. In working with
a network of organizations ranging from advocacy, health care and ministry he has captured a broad clientele over the past five (5) years. His vivid imagination coupled with exceptional creative skills can be seen throughout communities and churches.
Mike works closely with his clients to create unique layout and designs to communicate their message. He has earned the title of the go to guy when it comes to graphics and design layouts. Driven by his passion and creativity, one might say his exceptional skills are the main ingredients for his one of a kind products; business cards, visual images, logos, banners, posters or anything that requires graphics. Michael tends to let his imagination run away, that’s Mike at his best. Showcasing his skills is first and far most in his life, however his interest extends beyond graphic design. He loves lending a helping hand to support others in their quest for success.
Here’s a bittersweet story, after launching his graphic design company, Mike and his two (2) best friends, Che R. Jones, producer of Class Act Entertainment and Keshia Caldwell also known as Peaches the playwriter/poet. Bothwere also entrepreneurs who set out to support each other in building their businesses. The idea was to act asconsultants to each other, calling it consulting between friends. It went so well to the point they decided to become a consulting firm. But before incorporating, Mike, Che and Peaches traveled to Africa for their 1stproduction together. Without time to celebrate their success, tragedy struck. Peaches passed away while in Africa. A loss that was heartfelt and unexpected.
Compelled to stay true to the concept and relationships,Michael founded Consulting Between Friends Podcast.Interesting name for a podcast, yet is fitting. The podcast is hosted by Michael Holmes Jr. and Co host Che R.Jones. The show honors their friendship. As we have been told Mike is masterful when it comes to layout and designs that represents getting his clients messages across. So, it goes without saying having a peach in the logo keeps the three friend together. Yes, Keshia “Peaches”Caldwell is still with Consulting Between Friends, the logo says it all.
This new show is available on Google podcast, Spotify as well as other platforms. The Consulting Between FriendsPodcast will highlight conversations between friends and
associates on issues of life, politics, entrepreneurship, community organizing and current events. All knowledge to feed your brain!
Everyone develops a talent or multiple skills. The talents can be extraordinary, unique, and out of the ordinary. For example, someone who is very flexible with their body, a musician who is able to multitask their ability to play an instrument.
The Guinness World Record has been around for multiple generations. This allows individuals to express their talents to a wider audience. The Guinness World Records has a story on how it became what we know today. The Guinness World Records idea began in 1951 by Sir Hugh Beaver as a way to settle friendly disagreements in Britain’s pubs. The book was designed to have facts that can be enjoyed by individuals and given away for free.
The people who are responsible for providing the points for the book are two brothers by the name of Norris and Ross McWhirter. The book was a success so an American edition was created in 1956. After the American edition of Guinness, other books were created in other countries to continue this fantastic Phenomenal. The World of Guinness has evolved over time and millions of individuals grew to love it.
Guinness World Records has introduced the world to opportunities that individuals can participate in. The Guinness World Records has shown individuals that you can push yourself to achieve anything you dream of. It is also essential to have fun while achieving your gold for Guinness because it is a way to enjoy what life has to offer everyone.

Health is important to everyone, our health can determine our overall well-being. It is important to take care of yourself, physically and mentally. Eating properly and doing daily exercise can help your body, and meditation and stress-relieving activities can help with your mind.
Your mental health is just as important as your physical health. If you do not take care of them both it can bring you down. This episode is going to be a bit different, we are going to focus on something that doesn't get talked about enough, and that is men's health.
A lot of men focus mainly on their physical bodies, but not their overall health, and a lot of them ignore their mental health. This has happened through years of conditioning men to just work hard and shrug things off.

Water is essential for humans to live and function. Water has many different benefits for survival as well. Everyone will be faced with different obstacles and situations in life. Some may have family or friends to turn to when they need help, others may have to deal with it alone.
As you grow up you might make friends that can make life more enjoyable.
This is especially important for young men. This is how they learn how to function in life around other people. From having conversations to the way they dress, your friends become an influence on you, sometimes it can be good and other times it could be bad.
One part we are going to focus on is young black men who get labeled negatively before they have a chance to show who they are. When young black men are growing up, they are made to be a problem, they cannot be trusted and don't need to be respected.
There is a book that is trying to stop this way of thinking. The name of the book is Voices of Black Men A Collection of Stories Untold "Raw & Unfiltered. In this book 7 black men will discuss their very own story and mention how they grew up to become the men they are today.
For this book I will be interviewing one of these men and his name is Glenn Tillman Jr. He will discuss his success and how he has accomplished all of it with a disability.

One problem that is overlooked by people is loneliness. When people hear others are feeling lonely, they might say you have to get out of your comfort zone and explore different things in life. This is very true, but some people don’t understand how and don’t have anyone to show them things in life. Not having a social life can lead to loneliness which can eventually cause health problems.

The Redistricting process is going on now in the United States. In each state the congress and senate are working vigorously on redrawing district lines. Everyone is requesting fair maps of representation for the population in all states. This will give everyone an equal opportunity. Here is the surprise, in some states the redistricting process is not fair to all groups of people. There are several organizations and groups working to protect people's rights. Black Voters Matter is fighting for people's rights for representation of redistricting. I will be interviewing the Louisiana State Organizing Manager Omari Ho-Sang for Black Voters Matter Fund.
Redistricting will affect young people as well. There are different youth groups working to inform the next generation of voters. One of the organizations which I will be interviewing is The People's Promise Youth Division. The topic is Redistricting the fight for fair maps in all states.

The one way people are recovering is by a distribution drive by organizations and community groups. The Temple of Praise Ministries created a partnership with The Jeremiah Group, Resilience Force, and other organizations to distribute items that were needed to the affected people in the community.

Well this episode will focus on my experience from Hurricane Ida and others as well. Hurricane Ida was a category 4 hurricane. This Hurricane had a lot of people worried because it was exactly the date of Hurricane Katrina. 16 years ago on August 29 was Hurricane Katrina. When people of New Orleans heard how similar this Hurricane was to Katrina, a lot of people decided to evaluate. How peculiar
Hurricane Ida came ashore on the same date of Hurricane Katrina which brought tremendous damage to New Orleans and the gulf coast. This episode's topic is Hurricane Ida, the substantial destruction that changed peoples lives in the gulf coast as well as other areas. This topic will be a two or three part episode focusing on the hurricane.

I would discuss the definition of National Disasters and the different types of disasters. I came up with this topic, because my family, friends and I are dealing with a National Disaster right now and that is a Hurricane. I live in New Orleans, Louisiana where Hurricane season is something to think about every year. The season starts on June 1and ends on November 30. This is the time of the year it is most rampant. That's right if you live near a body of water, this is on your mind every year. The current Hurricane affecting the Louisiana coast is Hurricane Ida. I will talk about how I am preparing for the Hurricane.

Continuing from our previous episode where we discussed COVID-19 myths vs facts, this episode is aimed at discusses traditional and non-traditional outreach to educate and motivate the unvaccinated.
Even though our scientists, experts, and medical professionals have been working hard to get information to the public, along with holding vaccination events, people are still reluctant to get the vaccination.
If we are serious about reaching the masses, we need to implement different approaches to reach the unvaccinated.
In essence, utilizing different outreach approaches to educate community members on the importance of testing and vaccinations will play an integral role in increasing the number of vaccinated people.

COVID has affected everyone and everything in our lives. We are being told different things every day by our family, friends, the media, and the government. How can we get back to normal? What can we believe about this epidemic?
It has been an entire year since our lives have changed due to the pandemic. The ways we used to communicate with each other are not the same anymore. Our interactions are different in the workforce and in our schools. It's even different in the ways we shop and do business. It's a new day and we’re living in a new way! This new norm has been a challenge for all of us.
Now everyone wants to get back to life as they knew it before COVID.
But in order for this to happen, everyone has a role to play and we must all play our part! That means vaccinations, vaccinations, vaccinations... along with other safety measures are the key to combat the virus that has changed our world!
Now some people are glad to receive the vaccine, while others are reluctant. As we have been in ongoing conversations with elected officials, pastors, community leaders, and others, we are hearing reasons why people have not had the vaccination.
Our Federal Government, the local Government and Companies are having to make tough decisions on how to move forward with the new Delta variant. During this episode we will be talking about the myths vs facts that have led to the mistrust and misinformation that people have about vaccines.

Over the past, and still, to this day, there have been countless shootings of Black men and women from the police. A lot of this behavior is judging the person before the situation begins.
In this episode, CBC talks to 5 different people about their experiences with system racism by police and law enforcement agencies.
CBC discusses the case that brought national attention to this issue, the death of Trayvon Martin. Trayvon was killed by George Zimmerman who was not convicted of any crime.
They discuss the shooting of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Mo., where there were riots across the city in protest of the police violence.
These protests are where the Black Lives Matter movement originated.

On April 20, 2021 Derek Chauvin was convinced of all 3 charges to the George Floyd murder. This is a lifelong turning point in history. When I heard this I was happy and sad at the same time. The reason is that so many others in the past did not get this opportunity to get justice for their life and their families' lives.
If we never discuss these issues we will never find a solution to the problem.

Voter suppression Laws is not a new problem. It has been a part of the United States from the beginning of the 20th century. The set of laws that we all know is the Jim Crow Laws. These laws were put in place to stop Afican Americans from having the right to vote. Some examples of the Jim Crow Laws are literacy tests and jelly bean count. The literacy tests consisted of a few questions to test your knowledge at an education level. The jelly bean count was a guessing game that was used to not let Afican Americans have the right to vote. If you failed the literacy test or the jelly bean count you were not giving the right to register to vote. These laws that were in place during the Jill Crow era turned hundreds of Afican Americans away from having the right to vote.
