Welcome back to the Same Business Different Day podcast with host Zeke Corley! Zeke met today's guest Nicolina at a networking event last month, where she and a number of her peers from Cal State San Marcos were fulfilling an assignment to network with local business owners. As our show typically discusses the early paths of currently successful business owners, what better opportunity than to talk about Nicolina's early years prior to the success? You'll learn a little more about Zeke in this episode as Nicolina performs her interview on our show! Shoutout to CSUSM's Business 300 program! In this episode, our host Zeke Corley sits with Chris Kydd who has come a long way from his childhood aspiration of becoming a grocery store clerk. Chris is now the Publisher of the Coast News Group, a business started by his father in his garage in 1987.
At a young age, Chris started on the ground floor with the Coast News. Learning to work in a family business isn’t easy. He eventually went off to college, studied abroad, matured, and changed his perspective. He humbly accepts his current position as Publisher, and takes his job more seriously than he would if he hadn’t.
Keeping objective principles in these polarizing times isn’t easy for a community paper, especially while many have been saying that “newspaper is dead” for over 10 years.
Chris’ energy and perspective should be infectious to the good people among us. We are glad that he has our community’s best interest in mind. Enjoy this episode.

This week, our host Zeke Corley takes a break from his Same Business Different Day podcast to showcase his spinoff show, Network 1 on 1. You'll find some of the same entrepreneurs that have been interviewed on SBDD as guests here. Our listeners love to hear the stories of how our favorite business owners got to where they are today, but the story doesn't end there. How do many of these entrepreneurs stay engaged and find more business? For many, the answer is networking.
With Network 1 on 1, Zeke plays matchmaker to business owners that he believes could benefit from each other, by sharing information with each other, working together, or becoming referral partners. In this episode, Zeke matches business owners in the fashion industry, all with their unique sense of style. That said, they still have plenty in common, including how difficult it is to navigate their industry. Together they discuss solutions to those issues, but also talk about their inspirations, stylistic choices, and going viral on social media. So much is being shared here. A perfect episode to introduce to our Same Business Different Day audience. Please find the show on YouTube, Spotify, or Apple Podcasts and like and subscribe.

In this episode of the Same Business Different Day podcast, Dominic Burtech teaches us how to use a "simplistic" mindset to build greatness. While many entrepreneurs that start with little or nothing ultimately effect their employees with their survival mindset, Dominic has adopted a different approach. His open door/ "let's learn together" policy has afforded him the opportunity to own multiple businesses locally. Although he's working underground at times, he doesn't belong under your radar. He has an enviable familial approach, but he also takes challenges seriously. Those who say that he can't, don't know Dominic. We are glad to have been joined by the unique and thoughtful Dominic Burtech.

Wasim "The Dream" Hajjiri is back to update us on what he's been up to and how he stays motivated to do more after all of his past successes. While he continues building on his initial mission, he has fresh endeavors to share with us as well as describing his new spiritual journey. Honesty, wisdom, sharing, and caring like this doesn't always come in the same package. Wasim has such great access to the information that many of us haven't taken the time to consider, and he is more than willing to bless us with it. His newest bestselling book- "Fulfilled? How To Land A Job That Aligns With Your Purpose" is available now, and is a great follow up to the first book he shared with us just less than one year ago! Wasim is one of one, and we are grateful that he's rejoined us to share. We hope that you enjoy this episode as much as we do!

This spectacular episode was a long time coming. Ramiro Guerra is a North County San Diego staple and we were fortunate that he took the time to share his story with us. Despite his early struggles in the formal education system, Ramiro found his way through real-life experience and working with others. Once he found his confidence, he tackled his dreams head on and became not only a student that rose to the top of his class, but also a teacher. Those that work with Ramiro or know him can verify that he is a treasure, and look to work with him at every opportunity. Enjoy this very honest conversation with the one and only Ramiro Guerra.

Listen to this very good episode as we learn about a man who is as smart as he is fun. After immigrating with his family early in his childhood, Joe found solace in his love for education and looked up to people in professions that were out to help the "little guy". Joe shares his regret for not getting early corporate experience, and how that affected his performance at the start of his career. His ability to communicate to the masses, not just the "informed" helps him not only in his profession and as a teacher, but in his newest lives as a podcaster and a stand-up comedian as well. He even leaves us with some jokes at the end of the show! Enjoy this episode with the very interesting Joe Samo! In this episode of the Same Business Different Day podcast, Taryell Simmons takes us on his very special journey from misunderstood class clown to leader and teacher. He explains how a collaborative relationship with his mentor gave him a new outlook, and took him to becoming a visitor at the White House and much more. Taryell's willingness to accept people as they are has put him in a special position to speak to them directly and develop programs that serve them. Taryell comes to us with great humility, but his willingness to share gives us an opportunity to see just how far he's come, and appreciate just how much he's done. This is a fun and insightful episode. Enjoy!

Before Christmas trees fill up all of our usual stores, we are gifted with a conversation with one of the best teachers around today. And, like Santa, Miguel delivered! A wise man once said that he feels smarter every time he sits down with Miguel. We believe that you will feel the same after this episode. In this episode, we discuss Miguel's early life including never being told "no" by his mother, and how that played a part in his growth & confidence. We discuss his corporate experience and the effect that had on his mentality in business today, including his approach to being an "intrepreneur" & an entrepreneur. Either take notes or listen multiple times to this one-of-a-kind conversation, a masterclass, with the one & only Miguel deJesus.

This season of Same Business Different Day, we’re not only interviewing some of our favorite entrepreneurs, but bringing back past guests to find out what they’ve been up to since our last conversation.
In this episode, we sit down with Chris Ryan, an old friend of the show to hear about the changes in his life (business and personal ) since we last spoke. In both cases, the changes have been significant. Listen to this short but powerful episode to learn how Chris has dealt with personal loss, and facilitated the sale of his business, Ryan Video Productions. SBDD has talked many aspects of business, but “build, grow, and sell” is new for us. Tune in to this special episode to hear good advice from a close friend of the show!

Today, we are happy to welcome back our award winning cinematographer and director, Elias Acosta. One of our favorite storytellers rejoins the podcast to teach us about what has been going on in his field since we last spoke. One of the biggest lessons he wants us to understand is how much has changed since the pandemic, and how much will never be the same. He has a positive outlook, but reminds us to continue to put the good vibes into our work since there are plenty out there with the opposite mission. And the way he puts Artificial Intelligence into perspective is a talk you do not want to miss!

How many people do you know that knew what they wanted to do in life since 6 years old, and are still in that same field today? Ke'Anna Dodds is an anomaly, but shares so much in this episode... not only highlighting the successes, but her regrets as well. What's so important is that she's found such great examples from her strong family support system. But she still accepts mentorship, and even shares amazing advice with those looking to follow in her footsteps. At the time we recorded this podcast, Ke'Anna was just launching her now popular Vista Twilight Market. She's doing this and so much more. Follow her to keep up with all of the latest. In this episode of the Same Business Different Day podcast, we get to hear from Cheddy Matthews & Thomas Howard. As usual, our show follows the trek of some of the most influential business owners with whom we've had the pleasure to know and work. Somehow, we squeezed the many lives of these men into one episode, and it's a lesson per minute! One saw the vision early while the other remained malleable until he found his destiny. Both are now building on multiple careers and controlling their enterprises while helping others along the way. The bumps in the road could have changed it all. It only makes where they are today more inspiring. Enjoy & please share with others.

What does it mean to be "Frontline Friendly"? There are lessons shared in this episode that you haven't heard in our previous episodes. Ari & Jason talk to us about how they were raised, how they met, and how that all led up to what they do today. Their expertise in their current field must not go unnoticed. It's not just the education, but the experience that got them here. And the pride they take in their current work makes all of the difference. From their perspectives on how to deal with stress and relationships to some good old fashioned southern tropes upon which this country was built. Welcome to the final episode of Season 4 #MerakiSeason! It's sad to think that we're at the finale, but our wonderful journey ends with two more extraordinary guests! The knowledge that Treci & Amir shared is not only priceless, but timeless. These are jewels you can use in your daily life, as well as pass down to those you know in need later on in life. Amir & Trecie discuss their joint and separate business endeavors, but trace back to a time when they were still figuring it all out. We talk about learning from early jobs they never thought they wanted to do, building relationships of all kinds, getting small nuggets of advice that lasted forever, and sacrificing for the success of the family. Zeke was happy to sit down with the fascinating, self-proclaimed "ambivert" Corinne Lebrun. Corinne's excitement to learn in various fields is refreshing amongst so many that spend time trying to master one just so they can teach. What is so intriguing though is the spectrum of the fields. When the highly qualified is also highly ambitious, we have very little choice but to listen to the stories they have to tell. Corinne is the bright light in an occasionally dim world. Listen to this episode to understand how she saw life early on, and how her inquisitive nature helped her later on in life. Sharmaine is a trailblazer that can speak directly to those hesitant to go into business on her own. Her philosophies on taking the leap don't necessarily have roots in entrepreneurship, but few are more fit to motivate those interested than Sharmaine herself. She speaks through experiences from early life, and takes this powerful thought process with her everywhere she goes. Her balance of business and pleasure are also incomparable. Zeke and Steve sat down for an in-depth talk about Steve's journey to his current venture. He talked about learning lessons from his sports background such as work ethic and being effective under pressure. Having a supportive family even when he changed his college major. Learning networking and if he was cut out for a job in sales. Of course they also talked about his decision to start his own business, hiring and losing staff, and choosing a good location for brick and mortar locations. There are some very good business lessons in this episode. Thanks Steve for the time and knowledge. And thank all of our listeners for your Season 3 support!

We were very happy to finally get Lauren into the studio with us! She talked with us about being a shy child in public, while putting on extravagant productions in the house with her family! We talk a lot on this show about future entrepreneurs learning from our guests about decisions they made when the road forked. When it came time to decide on her education, she made a last minute decision that paid off! She made the right decision again after graduating college, and was soon presented with even more opportunities. Her current business venture is as innovative as you'd expect from her after getting to know her in this episode. Lauren has used her resources wisely, and turned her family business into something you might only see in movies. Please enjoy our conversation with the incredible Lauren Fehlhaber.

If you're a regular listener to SBDD, welcome back! This is not our usual ride! Zeke & Pops (our favorite guest co-host) did their best to keep this one under control, but Randy's brake lines were apparently cut years ago lol! But how often do you get to cringe and laugh at the same time? If Zeke & Pops seem uncomfortable at times, it's not an act! Take a deep breath and be ready to be sucked into our conversation with Vista's own Randy Renner.

Our host, Zeke Corley, had the opportunity to talk about life, loss, inspiration, and celebration with a phenomenon by the name of Kelsey Kurtis. Our format served her well because it really gave us the opportunity to get to know her even before discussing her current success, and book release. It was an exhilarating conversation with two people that really have the same focus, to inspire entrepreneurs... not just to take the leap but to find success in flight. Get inspired, get informed, and frankly get entertained by the one and only, the contagious one (in a non-Covid way lol), Kelsey Kurtis! Justin has no complaints about life, and that shows in the way he approaches others. Zeke found out quickly that Justin truly lives up to the reputation we'd heard about. Justin talked about growing his network organically, along with his business partner. His time around the world prepared him for helping others run businesses before finally starting his own successful venture. And what goes into the day to day mindset of growing his business? Branding, identifying clientele, specific ingredients, one of them being joy! Justin also taught us Business Lesson #674- Knowing your demographic & traffic. The balance of business and pleasure was of course discussed, as we never miss that opportunity on this show!

Natalie Boehm is as inspirational as she is intelligent. She talks about working with self-employed parents at a young age, and inheriting a strong work ethic. Although Sammy is young in his current business venture, he spent years learning business even before completing his business degree. From growing up in the family business to going on a journey of his own. What makes this story fascinating is that these two paths crossed once again, providing benefits to all involved. Sammy also has great advice for others his age on how to focus on business now, and saving the fun for later in life.

This week, we had the great pleasure of sitting down with Dave Baldwin. It was really nice to hear him take a simple, pragmatic approach to what many ignore or refuse to deal with... our finances. Dave took the bold leap from the Fortune 500 world into his own firm, now doing business on his terms. A veteran, an author, and a gentleman, Dave Baldwin was just the guest that many of us needed to hear from. Everyone has a plan, just like everyone has suggestions and opinions... but if you don't take the time to listen to the professionals and the experts, how will you differentiate yourself. We hear the chatter and know that many of you have missed us. We’ve missed you as well. Season 1 was such a great experience, and success for us all. Season 2 is almost upon us, but Alyssa, Pops, and I knew that Black History Month was the perfect time to celebrate this very special guest.
George Coletrain took time out of his very busy schedule to sit down with us and give insight into his process, and advice to others looking to follow the trail that he's blazing. If you don’t already know his name, remember where you heard it first! We had a blast interviewing your favorite artist’s favorite artist (& biggest fan). Enjoy!

As always, we try our best to be informative while having fun, and this episode is no different. This was our last recording of 2020, and it was definitely a blast! We sat down with Kris & Paige to discuss their early beginnings, having continued success without constantly having to prove you are the best, and remaining unique in the face of trends. We even read questions from fans and tried our hand at a little trivia. This was a great way to end the year, and we hope that you are all off to a good start with your New Year's resolutions. Let's work towards a better 2021 for all!

Happy New Year to you all! The Same Business Different Day podcast continues to show our listeners real, early life parallels before taking their plunge into the world of business, and this week is no different. We sit down with this celebrated master of influence for a very honest conversation about the trials of personal life, family life, and of course business. We are reminded how to identify our target market and, just as importantly, how to keep their attention. But how do you continue to be a strong pillar for your family as you're figuring all of that out? Beleaf is someone who is doing it, but knows that it's a never-ending process. We're very happy for him and his many new endeavors, and thankful that he found the time to share his growing wisdom with our listeners.

We end 2020 with one of our most powerful episodes yet! It's pretty clear that Julie Lowen wouldn't be the woman she is today if not for her difficult upbringing. The story plays out like a movie, and we were fortunate to be in on the set. For you entrepreneurs that tune in weekly (first of all, thank you), if you didn't think you could persevere, you will have more faith after this episode! Here's to keeping the faith... and an even better 2021!

In this episode, we sit down with David Zumaya to learn about his journey, and how he turned his natural talents into his profession. He also discusses choosing ethics and integrity over rapid business growth. There was something very organic about our interview with David, and we were glad to be able to sit down with him.

In this special episode, we talk to Curtis & Laiana Bechtel who discuss some fantastic ideas about how to bring some normalcy to such unorthodox times. We learn about the talents these two possess individually, and how those talents have inspired teamwork. They aren't just life partners, but business partners. The best part is, they came about this business organically. Clients demanded their services before they even knew they had a business. A good lesson for the entrepreneurs out there that aren't sure if they are making the right decision. Reactions and referrals will give you a hint! Happy Holidays to all of you!!! We appreciate you all so we are publishing a special holiday recipe on our Instagram very soon! Be sure to follow us and get it for yourself.

On this episode, we're joined by Don Sando. He talks of his times growing up in Los Angeles, and his engineering background. He was eventually pushed in another direction, but stuck to his plans to remain in the corporate world. But things changed, and we're sure lucky that they did! Don is the perfect guest for this podcast because he lays the blueprint for everyone from the young entrepreneur to the veteran business owner. No exceptions to these lessons. We all continue to learn. Take notes!

In part 2 of our talk with Marc & Mark, we get to hear about how the early lessons in life put them in position to make some of their biggest decisions. The partnerships they've formed to create CWDL CPA's and Fides Wealth Strategies may not look the same if not for their journey. They discuss the approach to their clients that they feel differentiates them from others, and they also give advice to those who are hesitant to adjust to market changes. Also, Alyssa takes them back to school. You loved their episode last week... Don't miss Part 2!

Zeke introduces Alyssa to two old friends of his whose journeys he's witnessed personally. In the first part of this two-parter, they tell great stories of their work ethic growing up, sales stories, and their attempts and failures in early entrepreneurship. They even get some embarrassing admissions out of Zeke. By the end, you'll wish we'd take you straight to part 2!
