Listen to this if you want to know what season you are in as a dance studio owner so that you can maximize your leadership capacity.

Here are a few key takeaways:

  • There are three types of studio owners or three types of seasons that you go through as you develop your business. Having an understanding of your type or the season that you are in, allows you to rest and reflect on if you are truly maximizing where you are before trying to move forward. Are you stewarding where you are or are you wishing you had more years in the game?
  • Emerging Studio Owners are instinctive, driven to succeed, enthusiastic, action-oriented, passionate, imaginative, and desire to expose their students to the joys of dance. You also have yet to fully hone your leadership skills to tap into the mindset and complementing activities to unleash the true leader in you. You struggle with the confidence to truly run the business as CEO or rebuild again after much loss.
  • Engaging Studio Owners are busy, resourceful, confident, can work with many personality types, responsible, perseverant, and self-disciplined. As an engaging studio owner, you engage with many responsibilities in your studio and you wear many hats. This makes it easy to be consumed with many tasks. You are more confident but you are exhausted because you are doing all the things.
  • Evolving Studio Owners are strategic thinkers, collaborative, self-assured, optimistic, keen on effective workflows, possess a greater sense of purpose, and enjoy pioneering fresh approaches to being a dance studio owner. As an evolving studio owner, you are very clear on how your business functions because you have a birds-eye view of the operations. You are able to hire staff so you can spend the most time investing in the value activities.

Listen to this if you don't have a curriculum in place at your studio or you want your studio’s curriculum to produce clear results.

Here are a few key takeaways:

  • Your curriculum is the crux of your business and as a service type business, your students are products of your studio. Therefore your curriculum is instrumental in helping them to become great 'products' of your studio who carry the values of your studio.
  • It’s not enough to throw a curriculum together or not to have one at all. You must have a clear framework for getting students to grow and for parents to get a return on their investment.
  • Your curriculum will make or break your studio if it's not effective. Fancy marketing or brand colors may attract some students and your customer service may make some feel good but if your students are not leaving with a transformation you are not effective in producing.
  • There is also a major difference between your studio and the one across the street when you, the CEO, embody your values and infuse them into the curriculum. Two studios can have the same curriculum but the distinguishing factor is YOU. Therefore dig deep to find your value and infuse it into your framework. Trust and believe, your marketing will be super easy and organic this way.
