Our fathers here on earth are not perfect. Those of us who are fathers are not perfect. Even the most blessed dads have fallen way short of the glory of God.
But that is okay. Because of what Christ has done, we get to come to our Father in heaven.

Once we are saved, do we get to live our lives alone in isolation?

When we are born, we are so dependent on parents. By God’s grace, we will grow to become a bit more autonomous and be functioning members of society.
Is it the same when we are born again?

If we are not saved by God and we do not believe in God, can we naturally understand the word of God?

God knows the beginning from the end. When God passes judgment--which is always correct, rightly, justly, perfectly, righteously despite the opinions of peoples of the world--is always within God's covenant to his people.
Yet, God has only made one promise this far in Genesis that holds true in the midst of rampant wickedness all over the earth--that he will crush the head of the serpent.
God will go on to make many more promises. Yet, Christ's future judgment and wrath will be far greater than the Flood. But Christ's future restoration will be even more glorious.

How far into death can sin take us when by birth and by choice, we are already so far away from God?
Just as the gospel of God takes us all the way home to himself, so, too, are the effects of unrepentant sin. Sin, left unchecked, not confessed, not repentant, and not given over to the Lord Jesus Christ, is always a slippery slope into levels of sin you couldn't possibly imagine--and yet, there you are in the midst of darkness and despair.
Sin does not leave us alone. Sin does not get better on its own. Sin is not neutral. It is always crouching and waiting to devour us. It will consume us. It will destroy us. It will kill us.

Pastor Timothy had to deal with rich people. And you might hear this and think, "I get to skip this because I am not rich."
But don't fool yourself. Unless you are worrying about your lights getting cut off or you have a negative account balance, you have to consider yourself blessed.
But Paul exhortation was not for the rich but to get people to change their minds about putting their hope into something not God to save them. And we might declare it today. But tomorrow, we might wake up and forget to hope in God.

There are usually no hard and fast rules. But in my life, I have seen two rules emerge when it comes when bad things happen:
- Bad things come at you fast
- They don't go away as quickly as you want them to.
Why does it feel like that? The answer is sin.

We are desperate to be free. And we will worship any god that will give us that freedom.
And in that worshipfulness--whether to do our own thing, struggling for provision or safety or welfare or to be like God--will inevitably make us slaves to things not God and robbing us of our freedom.
We are made to worship. And there is only one God. Where Adam and Eve exchanged God for not God, Christ came into our world to exchange not God for Himself. Christ asked each one of us as Joshua did, "Choose on this day whom you will serve."

Only God can sanctify. As Christians, despite being led by the Spirit, bought by the blood of the Lamb, and the indwelling of the Triune God, none of us are immune from trying to wander away from God.

Genesis 3:15 is often called the first proclamation of the gospel. This was God's declaration that he will make everything right with him once again.
But don't skip over the curse of the serpent in verse 14. That is just as much as part of the gospel.

But not a lot is spoken about Christ our big brother. What is it like to be in the family of God with God as our Father and Jesus our eldest brother.

Every generation of mankind struggles with knowing good and evil--despite tasting the fruit from said tree. I say that to say that we live in a moment where the world is desperately evangelizing to Christians what is sin and not sin. And despite having the word of God and the Triune God within every child of God, Christians are not too sure themselves.
Or to ask it this way, is all sin evil?

God is righteous and the source of all good. It is only by our belief in God--that means that we take him at his word and we live it--that we get to possess his righteousness.
That is before we can even start to obey.

Something outside of God broke the perfect relationship between God and us. And we know that Adam and Eve didn't have the words to explain what happened when sin broke everything but they certainly felt it. And out of their new sinful hearts came more sin.

Christianity is not a checklist. It was never that cheap and easy.

Yet, despite the absolute destructive nature of sin and wickedness, God is righteous and was, is, and will forever be our righteousness.
How do I know? He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, and he alone is redeeming all things and making all things new.

Those who believe in Christ are saved to Christ. But believers in Christ are never to do this isolation.
And when I say we are saved to one another to minister to one another, that is easier said than done. For most of us, the church is not a safe place but a place of hurt.
As Christians, do we ever get to run away from the church?

God already knows what we need before we ask him (Matthew 6:8), and we know that God cares for us. He is our portion and our lot--our inheritance if you are a child of God.
But is Christ instructing us to ask God to provide for us our needs, or is it so much more?

If you believe in Jesus and trust in Jesus, do you think that Jesus owes you something?
In other words, does our obedience to God put God in our debt and he has to pay us back somehow?

Besides God alone, there are so very few things that carried over perfectly through the Fall of Man.
Strangely enough, the Rest of God carried over from Genesis 2 till today. Through Moses, and the Law, and the Prophets, and through the life and death of Christ, we still have the Sabbath, and the command still applies, "Keep the Sabbath" because it is holy.

As my old professor, Sinclair Ferguson, once said, "We are to work at bible study. The Scriptures do not disclose their riches to lazy minds and hearts."

His will in the Heavens is absolute. Is that so with here on Earth? If no, can he still be God? If yes, then what are we really praying for?

Using the Bible, God has set the stage for mankind. Who is righteous like our God? Who can compare to Him? Is anybody good in the sight of God?

God is Creator of everything. Simple enough statement but for some in modern times, that is easier said than to believe.
Why do some struggle with belief in God as Creator? When you hear that, do you think, "I don't struggle with that." But do you struggle with belief that God is your provider? To believe God as Creator is to believe God as Provider.

They are here to "equip the saints for the work of the ministry" (Ephesians 4:11-12). In other words, the church is just not made up of just elders and deacons. The people of God are the church.
What are we called to do? Paul calls us to hold the mystery of Christ.

The Kingdom of God was on its way. From Genesis to Malachi, the promises of God were hard charging and storming through sin.
Christ has arrived. He has lived, died, and risen from the dead. Because of his perfect obedience, His Kingdom is here and our enemies conquered.
What does that mean for the believers of God? More so, how then should the believer pray?

Jews and circumcision? Sometimes when we read our Bible, we can see an introduction where the author has an intended audience. And we are too quick to think that passage is not meant for us.
But slow down. "All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, correcting, rebuking, and training us up in righteousness. (2 Timothy 3:16-17)
Let us examine today's passage and see what it says about us at the heart, what it says about God, and where is the good news.

God was our forever light and we were never in darkness. This meant no confusion, depression, apathy, sadness, guilt, disease or sin.
What happened? Sin entered into our world. This world has confusion, depression, sadness, sin, and darkness.
Jesus is now our forever light–now those who believe and trust in him forever live. How is that possible?

As God has called His believers to assemble and gather under the supervision of his under-shepherds--elders. In doing so, we are all called to serve one another because we are saved to one another.
But there are men and women who, by God's grace, are gifted in certain deeds to help the local body. What is a deacon? Are their special qualifications to be a deacon? Let us find out.

When you read the New Testaments and especially in the Gospels--Matthew, Mark, Luke, John--you are going see John the Baptist and Jesus say this over and over again, "Repent, for the kingdom of God is near" and "Repent, the kingdom of God is here."

This should have been our first and last home. It was so perfect. Then everything goes wrong.
And the believer knows and sees that God redeems only the broken. But how did God redeem our home and how did he make a better forever home?

The most important takeaway from the gospel of Christ is that we are saved from sin but rather we are saved to God forever and ever. In the salvation of God with all the glorious, eternal, exclusive gospel benefits comes this: we are saved to one another.
Christians can try to blame the pandemic for being in isolation. But Christians were in isolation before the pandemic--nothing really changed.
But what has God called us to do? Worship Him together.
