Switched-on! is a catalogue of conversations about time outdoors transforming the work that you do. I'm Fi Macmillan, executive coach and adventurer, and I'll be talking to people who've inspired me with how they've changed their work from time outdoors.
Today I’m in conversation with Garry Pratt. Founder of ed-tech innovator, Teachit, he started his career in advertising and publishing and, with entrepreneurship running in his veins, has gone on to start and grow different. Part entrepreneur, part management consultant, he also has a deep interest in archaeology and the outdoors.
Garry is a director and chair of a number of business. He is also Entrepreneur in Residence at the University of Bath supporting high-growth potential start-ups and scale ups. He is a man who calls the outdoors his ‘office’ and has recently said that ‘a desk is a dangerous place to see the world from’. Garry runs a business walking & thinking group and retreats through Walking Leaders and Outside/.
This is the story of how I began to experience a new intelligence outdoors. I'm in conversation with my friend and colleague, Mike Jones, as he takes me back to my early working life as an entrepreneur, and how that led me to where I am now. Navigating dog walks, long-distance walking and vision quest, we discuss how all that changed the work that I do and how I do it.

We discover what the imaginal world of Rumi, Bateson and Steiner has to do with organisational life. And, how it supports Roger's work in the NHS. We discuss Roger's mission to bring experiential encounters with the imaginal into mainstream culture and what Star Wars has to do with it.
