DACA is stroke down once again. While we were expecting this news, it's not easy to face the reality that the DACA Program could be taken away. While we can still continue to renew our DACA application, millions of eligible applicants are left out of the program. We know DACA is only temporary, and the fear and anxiety to be at risk of loosing our jobs, or be separated from our family becomes more real with every new decision. Check-in on your DACA friends, and let them know we are all here for each other. No matter what, we are better together and I trust in God that bigger and better things are coming for us.

DACA is back in the courts! Last week, a hearing took place where we are once again left to await the fate of DACA.
This episode shares the story of Liz. As a student, it has never been easy for Liz to manage the ups and down of knowing that DACA can end at anytime. In fact, Liz was prepared to move back to Mexico and enroll at a Mexican University back in 2017 when the DACA program was threatened. This upcoming Thursday, tune in to hear the inspiring story of Liz as she tells how she was able to push through her fears of being undocumented and managed to earn a full scholarship to complete her degree in engineering.

We’re back!!!! This year we welcomed our newest family member, baby Dré! We are now four months postpartum and excited to share his birth story!
It was a roller coaster ride from preparing for birth, to experiencing labor, and rolling with complications. Overall, this is a positive induction story and such a unique experience I was able to share with my husband and family! 💙

Growing up as an undocumented child in the U.S. can take a toll on anyone. Adding on to the responsibility of being the first born and having to pave the way for your family. Violeta has lived up to that responsibility by becoming the first American Citizen in her family, and helping them achieve a legal status. Through the Navy, Violeta was able to complete her college degree after over 9 years of hard work and on and off classes. Today, Violeta shares her story serving as an example to our community letting us know that there are opportunities for us. She is a source of inspiration to keep going and to never give up, one day we can all go from a Pobrecita to a Boss!

Today on the DACA Series, I get to connect with Alba Jean, a Registered Nurse from Chicago, and feature her story as an ICU nurse whose journey getting there was full of bumps in the road. Growing up as an undocumented child, Alba had no idea that not having a social security would prevent her from being able to go to College and even more from being able to get a job.
In her episode, Alba shares about the uncertainty she faced as an undocumented adult only being able to receive DACA at 25 and be able to jump start her career in the medical field. We discuss the obstacles being an undocumented professional, the anxiety of DACA renewals, and even Alba losing her nursing job after her DACA expired before receiving a renewal.

6 year old Mari left her hometown of Guanajuato, Mexico not aware of when she’d be able to return. After growing up as an undocumented child in the US, and then becoming a DACA recipient, she had an opportunity to adjust her status and apply for a green card through her husband! Today on the DACA Series, Mari shares about her journey growing up in Chicago and highlights some of the challenges she faced while being in the DACA program. The recent DACA update from Friday, July 16th has left our undocumented community in a complete shock. Today in the DACA Series, Julieta Paredes, a DREAMer and DACA recipient from the South Texas border shares this space with me to encourage our community to take action and get involve. Julieta shares about her own Dreamer experience as a college greaduate, business owner, and advocate for our undocumented community.

Maria Ochoa became a Civil Engineer after graduating from San Angelo State University in Texas. Not only was Maria able to reach this goal through her own efforts as a student and the sacrifices of her parents, but also due to being a DACA recipient which ultimately has changed her life. Today on the DACA Series, Maria shares about her journey and the challenges she has overcome as a Dreamer on her way to a chance at achieving the American Dream.
DACA renewals are taking longer to get approved and unfortunately this is negatively impacting our DREAMers. Daniela Gonzalez was working at a Children's Hospital when suddenly she was let go after her DACA expired. Today on the DACA Series, Daniela joins me in sharing about her DREAMer experience and how she was impacted while having to wait for her DACA renewal that took over 6 weeks of processing after her permit expired.
Leaving Ecuador as only child, Franciso Alex Lasso faced a lot of discouragment as a young adult in Virginia having to work odd jobs to make ends meet given his undocumented status. Once the DACA Program was enacted, he saw a glimse of opportunity to pursue an education but was left in debt after an error with Financial Aid. Today on the DACA Series, Francisco shares his experience as a DREAMer overcoming his challenges and featuring his own company and brand made for the DREAMer community, Dreamer Industries!

As a DREAMer born in Taumalipas, Jose shares with us about his personal journey becoming a DACA recipient, and opens up about the many challenges he has overcome througout his life navigating moments where it can be easy to be lost in translation.
It's graduation season and today's personal story is one for the books. My guest, Mayra Rodarte has endured so much while overcoming bilateral club feet, an abnormality of the feet which requires multiple surgeries and continuous treatments. While growing up, Mayra learned to embrace her disability and has not let it stop her from accomplishing great things throughout her life such as becoming a first-generation college graduate with not only a bachelor's, but also a Master's Degree and numerous personal and academic awards throughout her college career.
Maria Bautista is from Colima, Mexico and grew up between Georgia and Washington state. Navigating life as a DREAMer was difficult, but she has learned to cope with the challenges through laughter and comedy turning her TikTok and social medial platforms into positive videos relating the reality of her situation. Today on the DACA Series, Maria talks about being on DACA and her success story having graduated from college, becoming a young mom, and marrying the love of her life to start her family!
Areli Morales, author of Areli is a Dreamer joins me today on the DACA Series. In this exciting episode, she shares about her DACA Success story and the inspiration behing her amazing childrens' picture book. After enduring the hardships of her relationship, Anete broke free through her divorce and learned to thrive by becoming the best mother to her baby boy. Fast forward years later, she is not only stronger and more confident in herself but was able to find love and happiness again. Anete started playing basketball in the second grade and established her career in the sport. As a Latvian native, she grew up to represent Latvia internationally and became her country's best young basketball player. Shortly at the end of her college career, Anete faced the biggest challenge yet....Motherhood and navigating her difficlut relationship with her baby's father.
Joining me on the DACA Series is Laura Enriquez. Growing up in Utah, Laura was unaware of the many challenges that come with being a DREAMer. After learning that her immigration status was the reason many doors closed throughout her life, she was devasted. After becoming a young mom and continuing through her adult life as a DACA recipient, Laura opens up to us about the challenges but also many accomplishments she has been able to achieve as a DREAMer. In the last few years, Laura has been able to grow in her professional career, serve as an example for her kiddos, and inspire our DREAMer community by being proud of where she comes from and owning her DACA Success Story!

Vianey opens up for the first time about experiencing bullying, family separation, and sexual harrassment. Despite all of the struggles, Vianey is a fighter and today she shares her narrative celebrating her DACA Success Story.

The pandemic has affected many of us, and Rachel Arreola was left without a job after the movie theaters shut down early 2020. Fast forward a year later, Rachel shares with us her inspiring story about how she pursed her hobby of nail art and how she was able to lauch her own press-on nail business in the middle of the pandemic.
