Featuring Lela, Meghan, and Melody, this podcast brings this series to a close, capturing the main idea that we took away from reading these Scandinavian texts and the similarities we see in today’s world. Melody talks about her journey to UW, being an international student and talks more about the different factors that have helped her to succeed. We feel that this episode provides some insight into the idea of a journey and how while it may be different today than it was many years ago in Scandinavia, it will always act as an opportunity to start a new beginning.

This podcast episode features Melody with moderators Eli and Ally. Melody, as an international student, finds herself connected the most with a medieval text called The Saga of Erik the Red in all the texts taught in course HUM 101 provided by University of Washington. The Saga of Erik the Red is a text about Erik the Red being banished to Greenland and finding settlement in a whole new environment. The text also details events like Son of Erik the Red, Leif Erikson, preaching proper Christianty to Greenland. The recurring theme of settlement has captured Melody’s attention and she, herself is finding settlement in a different country far from home and also transiting to the college community. In this podcast, she will be sharing her journey to the University of Washington as well as the connection to the saga.
