Welcome to our podcast where we dive into examples of expositional preaching. Today, we're looking at three different sermons to show you the power of expositional preaching. We start with "Do You Pass the Test?"—a sermon from the Epistle of 1 John. Then, we move to "What Do the Heavens Say?"—a sermon from the Psalm 19. Lastly, we discuss "Are You Convinced or Questioning?"—a sermon from Acts 19. These sermons are examples of how to preach expositionally in different genres of the Bible. Tune in to learn more about expositional preaching and how it brings the Bible's words to life.
This is the second episode of a series on Spirit Filled Expositional Preaching.
📖Biblical Preaching: The Development and Delivery of Expository Messages by Haddon Robinson
📖Christ-Centered Preaching: Redeeming the Expository Sermon by Bryan Chapell
📖The Art of Preaching Old Testament Narrative by Steven D. Mathewson

Discover the essence of expositional preaching in this episode, where we discuss its significance for Christian audiences. It's not just commentary—it's about following the Scripture's main idea and purpose. We'll explain why this method is crucial, providing context and applying Scripture as the Spirit intended, thus speaking with divine authority.
We also define a spirit-filled expositor: someone led by the Spirit, demonstrating Pentecostal theology, emotionally engaged, and inviting prayer through altar calls. Central to this is a Christ-centered message, foretelling Christ and His blood-bought promises.
Tune in for a transformative look at delivering God's Word with conviction and spirit-filled clarity.
This is the first episode of a series on Spirit Filled Expositional Preaching.

Are you ready to challenge your understanding of a hotly debated topic? Join me, your host, Lance McKenzie, and my guest, Jonathan Lee, as we dissect the contentious issue of slavery in the Bible and its stark contrast with slavery in the American colonies. We debunk common misconceptions and discuss the topic in depth.
Together, we voyage through the different forms of slavery prevalent in biblical times, highlighting their significance and the importance of grasping the original context. Our conversation on Paul's teachings about slave treatment and his revolutionary message within the Roman Empire paints a vibrant picture of the New Testament's portrayal of slavery. As we break down the treatment of Hebrew and foreign slaves in the Bible, we challenge the widespread belief that non-Hebrew slaves suffered harsher treatment, providing evidence from scripture and historical research.
Our exploration doesn't end with human attitudes towards slavery. We dive into God's view on slavery, considering how it relates to the gospel, and offering a new perspective for both skeptics and believers. We end our enlightening conversation on a note of hope, discussing the ultimate freedom found in the gospel and the importance of holding steadfast in our faith. Join us in this engaging discussion that promises to challenge your perceptions and expand your understanding.

In the series 𝐋𝐚𝐰 & 𝐆𝐨𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐥, we will discuss the different viewpoints of this topic and passages of scripture each use. After 3+ weeks, 167 passages, and 400 pages of reading; I am excited to share about this topic! The goal of this study is to understand WHY and HOW to please God. Not to promote lawlessness, immorality, or opportunity for the flesh. We should have a desire to know WHY we do certain things so we may have the proper motive to serve Him.

Why should Christian’s keep the 10 Commandments?
Are we obligated to keep some of the OT Laws?
Today we discuss the Preservationist position.
Theonomist:
We should presume that Old Testament standing laws continue to be morally binding in the New Testament, unless they are rescinded or modified by further revelation.
-Greg L. Bahnsen
“Moralist“ (my term):
[insist] that the moral law (that is, the Ten Commandments) remains in force, while the ceremonial and civil laws of the old covenant are now obsolete along with that covenant itself.
-Michael Horton

New Year... but will it be a "New Me"? Weight loss, mental health, financial goals, and so many other types of resolutions are made. However there is one resolution that is so vital that if you forget all the others it's ok. This one resolution will turn you into a "New You". (This is a ride along episode as I in the car during the recording of this podcast)
This is a slightly different Voice of Thunder episode. Lane Generaux was kind enough to interview us on Christian Dating and Marriage. We start the episode off with a game and then move into the weighty stuff. We discuss how to know if they are the "one", boundaries, searching for a spouse, and much more. I hope this is encouraging to you.
This episode Lane and I discuss the process of preaching. What role does prayer play in our prep time? How do you arrange or outline a sermon to go "up" instead of "down"?
How do you get as much meaning from the text as possible when preaching a sermon? How do you preach in a way that draws as much truth from God's Word as possible? Spurgeon I believe had a secret method that may help us preachers. I also discuss some of my journey as a preacher and my constant attempts at personal growth to be an effective minister of the Gospel of Christ.
How do I get my spiritual life energized again? How do I dig deep into the Word when it seems there is no time in a day? How do I maximize my time to "redeem" it from bondage to all the tasks I have in a day? How do I effectively use it to be the best in my field? We discuss that today on Voice of Thunder... Deep Work.
Three Things Series Part 1
This is a special episode! I am in my new camper with my new wife Dare'! We are talking this episode about things he wishes he could tell you. If you could read his mind what would he want? We have all been in the "friends" stage when we are getting to know the other person. What does a guy need to help him transition from talking to dating? What are some things that a godly man would want to tell you? Listen in this episode to find out!
Who is the "Wretched Man" of Romans 7? Is Paul describing his life before Jesus or after Jesus? Is Paul a captive to sin still? Can a sinner delight in the Law of God?
There are certain passages of parts of scripture that are.... infamous. They are controversial and difficult to understand at first glance. This series of episodes is dedicated to these passages and topics. I hope they spark your interest. However I have also taken time at the end of each episode for lessons we can learn from these controversial passages. What are some techniques we can learn to avoid bad interpretation? How can we better understand the most important book in the World?
Anxiety, depression, and bitterness. These are such small words to express hours, days, months, or years of torture for Christians. Does the Bible have an answer to these struggles? Are we left defenseless to these powerful chains? NO! God has a remedy. Listen in as I talk about some of my struggles and how I have overcome.

One year ago..... John Crist did WHAT?!
....Fast forward to his FB "apology" video on July 15. Apparently 2020 hasn't just been a bad year for our physical health but also spiritual health as well. Repentance, brokenness, accepting responsibility all of these are lacking from this video. Oh! Also not to mention Jesus, church, etc.
Brain or heart? These are often contrasted against one another in Christianity. You can either be the crazed charismatic or the "cemetery" professor. However what is needed today is a mix of brain and heart. We need to understand truth so well that it changes our desires, burns in our hearts, and alters our behaviors. Don't fall in the ditch but stay on the path of truth!
