In every workplace, there is a need for individuals who are willing to lend an ear and offer their thoughts and insights to their superiors. These individuals, often referred to as sounding boards, serve as a valuable resource for decision-makers, providing them with a different perspective and helping them navigate through complex situations.
It is crucial to recognize when you’re a sounding board for your boss, that the
situation has crossed the line into you being taken advantage of. When your
boss consistently relies on you as their sounding board without acknowledging
your own needs or aspirations, it can lead to feelings of being undervalued and
overlooked.
As Christians, we often use God as our sounding board when we want things to go our way in our careers. A better job, more money, additional time off. And when
things don’t seem to be going our way, we get upset with God.
However, have we ever thought about what God wants when we use Him as our sounding board? Are we acting like our boss and not acknowledging God’s needs?
In this webinar, we address three individuals who got what they wanted from God
because they framed what they wanted as being something God could use.
It’s a story of trust and obey with a touch of compassion for helping God’s
children.

Being passed over for a promotion can be one of the most traumatic experiences possible. Hearing the words, “You were not selected” immediately triggers a range of emotions - disappointment, frustration, and even resentment. However, before letting your emotions get the best of you, it's important to reflect on these feelings while assessing the situation objectively. Oftentimes, by being patient and watching the interaction between the boss and the selectee as time passes, you may count it as a blessing that you did not receive the promotion.
In this webinar, we address a promotion that many a man would say they wish they could receive, but watching the selectee as time went by, would likely change their minds and be satisfied they were passed over for that promotion. It’s a Samson of a story, but lacking a key ingredient called LOVE.

The boss has known for a month you’ve got a get-away planned for this weekend. It’s midday Friday and you’re trying to finish up that final report due before leaving at 5pm today. Once you’re “out of here” it’s relaxation and freedom for the weekend at your favorite getaway place oceanside. As you’re typing your heart out on the computer, you get that pesky Zoom ring indicating your boss wants to talk NOW! So, you reluctantly answer the Zoom call and learn that a major shift occurred in your project, and you’ll need to add another section to the report titled, “Next Steps”. You tell the boss you can include a few bullets to address the request, however, the boss says she needs a thoroughly vetted chapter (yes, CHAPTER!) addressing Next Steps and the deadline for the report has been extended to 8am Monday morning to give you enough time to work on the additional chapter over the weekend. On ending the call, your heart sinks – you trusted your boss to honor your get-away time. And now you don’t know what to do next.
We spend a lot of time “thinking about” our expectations. However, we don’t spend much time “evaluating” our expectations – whether they are realistic based on the circumstances (including the people) we are dealing with currently. The coworker appeared impatient and one of the colleagues asked if the coworker only needed to make one copy. The coworker said, “Yes”, and the colleague moved out of the way for a minute.
However, it took longer than a minute for the coworker to make that one copy. The coworker initially made the one copy, and then said, “I just realized I need to fax the page to another”, then decided they needed several copies of the original for distribution at the upcoming meeting, followed by needing to send faxes to several people.

We met as colleagues at work.
